Chapter 4

Years had passed since Cannel and Severus graduated from Hogwarts school for witchcraft and wizardry, and their life had gone on. Severus proposed to Cannel during their sixth year and got married the day after they graduated. They moved to Severus' childhoods home in Spinner's End and around a year of being married Cannel announced her pregnancy.

Severus spent many nights being awake and watching Cannel sleep. He loved touching her pregnant belly and feeling the life growing inside. They recently found out that they are having a daughter and Severus couldn't wait until meeting her. It surprised him that he already loved someone so much, without have even met her yet.

"I'm always going to love you, my princess" he whispered and smiled when the baby kicked.

Severus and Cannel lived in a beautiful little bubble around them filled with love and happiness, but one morning it was broken when both their left arms started aching. Severus rolled up his sleeve and saw the Dark Marks moved and became darker.

"We have to go" Severus whispered and look at Cannel. He stroke her back and smiled before kissing her.

They became members of the Death Eaters around their seventh year, but nowadays it was less important to Cannel. She had switched focus since she became pregnant and feared that Lord Voldemort would find out. The Dark Mark ache again and they teleported to Malfoy Manor.

Severus knocked on the front door and held Cannels hand. He squeezed it lightly and waited on the doors to open. A house-elf opened the door and let them in the hall. They followed the house-elf to the dining room and joined the other Death Eaters around the table. Silent appeared in the room while they waited on the Dark Lord. The double doors opened and Lord Voldemort and his snake Nagini walked into the dining room. Severus put an arm around Cannel and a hand on her pregnant belly. He wanted to protect her and the baby from everyone, and the feeling became stronger whenever Lord Voldemort was present.

Lord Voldemort stopped on the end of the table and looked on his Death Eaters. He stroke his snake like a cat and sat down on his chair.

"A war is coming."

Cannel felt a shiver went down her spine and put more gasoline on her fear. She put a hand on Severus' and tried to shake the feelings away.

"Some of you may have already felt it coming… and it is important that we prepare us for battle." Lord Voldemort had gotten up from his chair and started walking around the table. He stopped behind Cannel and looked down on her. "Have you had visions about the war?"

Cannel swallowed and met Voldemort's red cat-like eyes. She felt a wave of feelings falling over her and pictures appears in her head. A vision of Voldemort trying to kill a boy with green eyes became clearer. She could see a red-haired women on the floor and could almost figure out who it was. The boy looked on Voldemort and a spell was thrown, but it didn't work… Cannel could hear Voldemort's scream and she realized it was a scene of his death. She shook away the visions and came back to reality.

"A lot of people will fight for you, my Lord. Giants, trolls, werevolves, magicians from all over will join and you're going to create a strong army. I'm sorry, but longer than that is unsure because it's hard to predict about wars before" Cannel said and continue keeping her eye contact with Voldemort. He broke it and then looked down on Cannels belly. A strong pain appeared and Cannel looked with fear on Severus. She held her stomach and prayed nothing bad was happening.

"I hope you're telling the truth, for your baby's sake." Voldemort said before continuing the meeting.

Severus didn't speak to Cannel before they came home and he had put safety spells around the living room so nobody could eavesdropped. He had heard Cannel speak in her sleep about a baby boy named Harry Potter would kill the Dark Lord. It had surprised Severus that Cannel didn't mention this to the Dark Lord and it also scared him for the consequences.

"You know it's Lilys and James' baby boy who I've had visions about?" Cannel saw Severus' chocked face and sighed. She knew he had always loved her and this probably put things in different perspective. "He's going to save the world from all evil and I want that to happen. I want us out of this dangerous world and make it safe for our daughter. This boy will bring that and if I can give him advantage by lying then that's what I'll do." Cannel sat down on the couch and laid her head in her hands. She feared for what would happen if Lord Voldemort found out.

Severus sat down beside his wife and sighed quiet. "You are a strong person and I love you for that. I couldn't have asked for a better wife or mother to my child." He stroked Cannels hair and tried to calm her. It scared him thinking of losing Cannel and wished he never would.

Cannel started to cry. She remembered Voldemorts threat and it created a lump of fear in her stomach.

"He must know I lied… he's going to kill me" Cannel whispered and began to cry. She started shaking out of fear and felt a lump create in her stomach. The threat Voldemort had given Cannel during the meeting, made it clear he knew about the lie. "We have to run… It's our only option" Cannel said and looked at Severus.

"Honey, the Dark Lord is going to hunt us down if we try to run. I'm going to do everything that I can to protect us." Severus kissed Cannels forehead and hugged her. He wanted to run as well, but they could never escape the Dark Lord.

Later on the evening Severus stepped into the nursery and found Cannel standing next to the crib. He sneaked up and his around around her waist. "I'm going to protect our baby girl with my life" Severus said and kissed Cannels neck. "You and her are my whole world and couldn't live with myself if anything happened to you two."

After Severus had went to bed Cannel closed her eyes and sighed. She went down to the kitchen, looked through a drawer and took out a quill, parchment and ink. The time ticked while Cannel sat by the kitchen table and wrote her letter. She folded the letter and wiped away her tears, before going up to the bedroom. Cannel sneaked in the room and looked on Severus. It burned in Cannels chest by sorrow and she was shaking in her whole body. She put the letter on Severus' nightstand and walked to the bedroom door. A couple seconds Cannel stood there and looked on her beloved husband.

"I love you and I'm so sorry" she whispered and closed the door after her.

Cannel used apparition to a village north of Scotland and pulled her mantle to cover her face. She tried to walk but felt pain in her stomach and felt a liquid stream down her legs.

"Oh not now!" Cannel said and fell down on her knees. She took deep and slow breaths. The pain went away and Cannel found new powers to get up on her feet. She began walking towards the closest house and knocked on the door. An older lady opened the door and looked suspicious on Cannel.

"Please, can you help me?"

Cannel felt another pain in her stomach and shouted. She leaned against the wall and hoped the lady could help her.

"Welcome Cannel." The old lady smiled and helped Cannel inside.
