Hello everyone did you miss me
Okay I have to sincerely apologize for not updating in such a long time, to the point that it has been nearly two months since my last update.
But I have an excuse for this because seriously last month on December I was swamped with work and having to make holiday chapters that I couldn't work on anything else. I also had to update my Death's academy because that has been on hold longer then this story so I had to update it. And then after I got all that done and then New Years came around, I got sick. Not a mild cough and stuffy nose but one that I had no choice in the matter that I had to stay in bed for almost a week. And then the second I got better hit my finger hard from doing yard work that it caused it to swell up like a grape which caused my fingernail to fall off, no I'm not joking this is all true
And after all that I finally had time to sit down and write this chapter for you all to enjoy
God I had the worst two months and it's almost my birthday to boot. . . Tomorrow actually. . Holy crap I almost forgot my birthday. . *Sigh*
Okay enough about me and my shitty life I'm sure you all care more about the chapter as I just finished my excuses for why I haven't updated in a long time
*Ahem* As you know I had a poll and in the end you all chosen the silent path and this chapter will follow that choice you chose, so I hope you all enjoy. Now before we begin

Now without further ado, let's begin
"Have you decided" Draven asked after a moment of silence fell around them
"Yes, we'll get to the base at night and free the soldiers under the cover of night" Death informed them as they all nodded in agreement
"Alright then, Ryu bring up the layout of the compound so our team can go in and retrieve them" Draven said as that created a paused when he noticed was staring at him
". . I'm not going?" Death asked curiously
"No offense Death but this requires a quiet approach and you would alert the guards with your presence" Junko said calmly while trying not to offend him
"Stealth is something that I'm trained in" Death said as he took a step back as he soon faded from their peripheral vision as he tapped their shoulders one by one before reappearing back in his usual spot with his arms crossed. Honestly he studied many methods of fighting and tactics which of course covered stealth. He had to admit, some humans in the past of earth were quite ingenious in their ways of stealth, especially those who wore those dark garbs and masks that disappeared in a flash of smoke.
"Impressive. I nearly missed you when you did that" Ryu complimented as he gave Death a respectable nod
"I can't just be always hack and slash, there are times when I need to be quiet" Death explained as the others nodded
"Alright, you and two others will take part in infiltrating the stronghold and freeing the soldiers" Draven announced
"When shall we do this" Death asked
"Now if we can find two others spec ops in the vicinity as night is approaching fast" Ryu pointed out as the sun was already set and last rays of light was going out
"Alright then, I will be at the makeshift helipad waiting for the other two to come so we can begin" Death stated as he began walking away as he didn't need to see their nods
Death walked down the dark street as power has yet to be reestablished in the city. Not that Death needed the light as he could see perfectly well in the dark even before he was classified as a faunus
Death soon arrived to the helipad that was placed in the middle of the park along with several tents placed a couple of feet away from the pad. Several of the tents were made for the soldiers and workers to sleep in while some were for medics to treat whoever was injured on the job.
Death leaned against the Bullhead that he approached and waited patiently for the two others to come and help him on this mission. Personally this is a waste of his time both in waiting for some people that may hamper his job and doing this to help some people he never even met before. Completely ridiculous in his perspective that someone like him would save lives of people he never met before while he would usually take those lives and not bother a glance at what he done in the past
It doesn't matter to Death how many die by his hands, each person's life is like a story. No one really bothers if one story would just be snuff out of the book of life as another story is on the next page ready to be read and yet here he is, to save lives that could possibly be snuffed out in the future all for them to live a little bit more. A complete waste of his time, but a part of him has to remember that life is precious and that life is the most precious thing you could protect.
True many would need to fall so others could live but that is life, so if there are some that needs to be saved just so they could taste the sweet breath of life then he shall do so
Death then let out a chuckle "I am going soft" Death murmured softly to himself as he never once cared about another person dying as he does now. It must be because he jumped in the Well of Life that it must've engraved some aspects of tranquility into his soul to protect those who don't have the strength to protect themselves
"I absolutely have no idea whether I should embrace this change or smother it. . Though the former does feel nice once in awhile when I help another" Death muttered as he couldn't help but feel something about him has changed since he came to this world
"I'm guessing you're our squad leader" A voice called out bringing Death back from his thoughts to stare at the two figures approaching him
The first was a man with Dark blue hair tied back into a short ponytail, Forest green eyes and had a slight pale complexion. He wore an azure blue long sleeved army jacket with a Silver longsword pointed downwards with feathered wings instead of a crossguard on his shoulder, he also wore dark green jeans with a black belt with a gold buckle on it and standard black army combat boots
The second was a woman who had a pale complexion with an ivory tint to it. Grey almost silver hair that was slightly unkempt and had some strands of hair covering her face. Her eyes are ivy green however they are hazed over and seemingly unfocused. She wore a dark grey hooded overcoat with ivy green highlights, a black turtleneck underneath the coat and grey combat boots. She also wore a pair of black metal plated gloves with silver knuckle indents
"Yes I am, and you are" Death question
"I'm Akio and this is Ivy we're here to help you free the hostages" The man named Akio explained
"Personally I would find it much easier to bomb the place to kingdom come but I'm not the one writing my paycheck so we're doing the stealth route" Ivy stated cynically as Death raised a brow at her cynicism before he noticed her eyes weren't even moving and just stayed focus in one area.
". . . . You're blind" Death realized as he was both insulted and curious to why they sent a blind girl to come with him
"Yes and I'm also a bat faunus meaning I don't need sight to find my prey, even if they are inside a building I'll still find them no matter what" Ivy said cynically as Death mulled it over. He has to admit having someone who doesn't need to see and find the targets behind walls is incredibly useful
"Welcome aboard. . . What can you do" Death asked dryly to the male who blinked
"I'm an excellent marksman with a bow and I know several ways to wear down an opponent before finishing them off" Akio explained and Death nodded as it would be good to have a silent marksman take out some of the opposition in their way
"Alright then, I'm sure you're briefed on what to do so I'm just going to say it now. Don't mess this up" Death said sternly as they both nodded "Good now get in the Bullhead" Death said as he opened the airship open as he stepped inside with the other two following. Death moved to the cockpit and knocked on the door as the pilot opened it. As soon as Death said they were ready the pilot gave him a nod and soon they took off
The trio sat patiently in the airship as they made their way to the compound. During the time Death watched the two who were to work with him as they were both silent as Akio was reading while Ivy was meditating. He stared at them as they showed no nervousness whatsoever in what they were about to do in about an hour when they arrive at their designation.
After the quiet trip their airship soon descended into a clearing in a forest as the pilot said this is as far as he could go without alerting the compound that is a couple of clicks to the west. Death and the other two watched as the airship they got off of took off back to the city. Death motioned to the other two to follow him as he began moving towards the compound through the forest. After a few minutes of continuous running they approached a cliff that overlooked the compound
"Akio you'll stay here and provide cover if needed as well as taking out anyone that might jeopardize the mission" Death stated as Akio nodded as he pulled out a longbow and got to the edge of the cliff
"Quick question though boss" Akio asked as Death turned to him "How are we doing this, lethal or nonlethal" Akio asked as Death just stared at him blankly when he said the later
"There's a nonlethal choice?" Death asked while tilting his head slightly as he never heard of that option before
"Uh, yes?" Akio said not really knowing what to say about the fact Death seemed so confused about the idea of leaving people alive
"Really? That never been an option for me before. . . . What am I supposed to do in that sort of situation?" Death asked calmly
". . . . . Not kill people" Akio deadpanned
"That seems boring" Death muttered dryly as the two others just stared at him like he was crazy "Well seeing as I've never once let someone live while being on a mission, this might be a good change of pace" Death commented as his subordinates just sweat dropped ". . . . Note that if I crush their necks when strangling them is not my fault, it's theirs for not having stronger necks" Death stated as Ivy let out a snort of laughter while Akio just stared at him blankly
"Can we begin the mission already" Akio asked dully
"Hold that thought" Death said as he took a step and dropped off the cliff
". . . . He jumped didn't he" Ivy asked not being able to see what Death did
"Walked actually" Akio clarified
"Ah" Ivy murmured as Akio looked down to see that Death didn't actually hit the ground but was holding onto a ledge near the bottom as a flashlight's beam was pointed directly under him as a group of three guards came to view.
Death moved to have one hand free as he waited for the three guards to move near him. Once they were directly under him Death let go of the ledge and dropped down. Death while reached out and grabbed two of the guards head and slammed them down onto the ground as he landed. The third guard, now alerted, moved back but was too late as Death sent a right hook into his gullet. As the man staggered back Death grabbed him by the shoulders and kneed him for good measure before grabbing the hem of the man's uniform as Death reeled his head back before slamming it against the man's head, knocking him unconscious
". .How's that for nonlethal" Death called up to the two
"How should I know, I can't see anything" Ivy called back dryly as Akio let out a small scoff of amusement
"Yes that's nonlethal" Akio called out before turning to Ivy "Here, give this to Death so he could communicate with us" Akio said handing a small earpiece into Ivy's hand
"Understood" Ivy said before she too stepped off the cliff
"Am I the only normal one here?" Akio muttered to himself
Ivy expertly moved down from the cliff by dropping from several edges of rocks and landed down next to Death
"Here" Ivy tossed the earpiece to Death who caught it and stared at it curiously "It's for us to communicate quietly so the guards of the compound won't hear us" Ivy explained as Death nodded as he fumbled trying to put the thing in his ear as he wasn't accustomed to using technology before he put it in right
"Can you hear me" Akio's voice boomed lightly in Death's ear
"Yeah I can hear you" Death said calmly
"Good now from what I can see there is a small opening in their snipers line of sight you can use to get into the building" Akio stated as Death grunted in acknowledgement "Alright just get into position to make a break for it at my signal and you'll be in. Just know the second you're inside a building I won't be able to help you from my position" Akio clarified
"Which is where I come in because honestly you'd be lost without my help" Ivy taunted as Death just sent her a sideways glare which had little to no effect as once more, she's blind
". . Alright enough chatter, let's get to work" Death said after a moment as he began moving through the trees towards the compound with Ivy. They soon got to the edge of the treeline where they saw the compound just a couple of feet in front of them. Death quickly grabbed Ivy and moved her behind a tree as a lazer sight moved past their position
"Alright, move a couple of feet to the right and at my signal move towards the wall of the compound and press yourself against it for a moment so the snipers' gaze goes past you before you can jump over the gate and quickly take cover because I think I see guards patrolling the area but it's hard to tell with the amount of shipping containers there. Why do they need so many containers?" Akio asked curiously
"Who knows, our primary objective is get the soldiers out and that's what we're going to do" Death as Akio let out a sound of acknowledgement
Death and Ivy waited until they saw the lazer sights move past them as the snipers moved position "Go" Akio said as the two bolted out of the forest as the screeched to a halt at the walls as they pushed themselves up against the wall as the lazer sights moved past them again "Go" Death then ran up the wall as Ivy did the same as Death grabbed her arm and tossed her over as he pulled himself over
Death when he landed quickly rolled to cover against a crate opposite to Ivy as a lazer sight fell upon the crate they were hiding behind as a sniper swore he saw something. After a few moments of hovering its sights on the crate the sniper figured it was just a figment of his imagination as he went back to his station
Death let out a small breath of relief as he didn't want to fail a mission so early on. He turned to Ivy who was waiting for him to say something "So what's the layout at the moment" Death asked Ivy as the blind girl raised her hand for silence. She closed her blind eyes and leaned her head to the side as a soft shrill was heard coming from her. After a moment she opened her eyes
"There's thirteen guards here at the moment. Seven are currently conversing with each other in the middle behind the large container. Two are over by a vehicle to the right with one of working on the engine while the other is helping. Three are currently watching T.V on the left by the side building and the last guy is currently taking a nap on the exact opposite side of where we are in this area" Ivy explained in great detail as Death stared blankly
". . . . Only thirteen?" Death asked as that felt a little too little of a force to hold this compound
"My range of sound doesn't go more than twenty feet and this compound is 8 miles long so there's bound to more opposition when we move from the twenty feet range of this area to the next. Luckily we don't have to run all the way across the compound as the layout description they gave us before we came stated we're actually quite near where the soldiers are being held. Plus most of them are probably asleep or out doing whatever their organization wants them to do so we have an advantage" Ivy explained with a bored shrug as their earpieces crackled to life
"She has a point you know" Akio added his two lien in as the earpieces crackled off as Death shook his head with a dry look
"Ivy, where are the soldiers currently held in this compound" Death asked
"From our intel they are located in a large storage area in west side of the compound. We are currently at the west end of the compound so we must make our way without alerting anyone" Ivy explained
"Understood. . does that mean you need to follow me or can you find your way there" Death asked as he was second guessing himself for bringing a blind person to help
"Just because I'm blind doesn't mean I'm useless. I'll meet you over there" Ivy said heading to the right
". . . If she dies, it's not my fault" Death said out loud
"You do realize you're talking to yourself, right?" Akio's voice crackled to life
"No I was telling that to you, if she dies I'm actually putting the blame on you for not supporting" Death stated
". . . So wait are you asking me to only support her or-" Akio asked
"Just give her supporting fire, I'll be fine" Death said dryly with a huff as he turned the earpiece off "Time to get to work" Death said to himself as he rolled to the cover to the left and began his way around the area via cover. Death soon heard some people shouting as he peered around the corner of the crate he was using to see three guards all shouting at the T.V of some sport "I'll never understand people and those infernal boxes" Death murmured to himself
Death picked up a rock and chucked it at the barrel that was behind the guards. Once he saw the guards turn around to see what made that noise he quickly moved to the corner on the other side of boxed area as the guards were none the wiser of what happened.
Death kept moving forward as he saw that he was moving into a pathway between two buildings. Death looked around and saw no one and quickly moved forward. As he was making his way through the gap between the buildings he stopped when a door opened in front of him from the left building.
"And so the in the end I punched the bastard for calling my girlfriend a cow" Guard #1 said as he and one other came out of the building
"Isn't your girlfriend a bull faunus with a bit of shark mixed in?" Guard #2 asked
"That's not the point" Guard #1 retorted quickly as they never noticed Death hanging from the side of the building by his scythe that was embedded into the building.
As soon as they were a good distance Death dropped down as he placed his scythe back in it's sheath. Death quickly moved to the end of the small pathway and stopped to looked around and saw that there were at least six guards working on something in front of the warehouse. There was also four on the left talking to each other. Then there were two guards patrolling the middle of the area back and forth. He was about to plan his move until he caught sight of Ivy on the other end of the area, hidden behind some crates that were laying around. Why they have so many crates that were just the right height to hide behind Death will never know
Ivy soon moved to the main building as she jumped up the side of the building and hanged off the edge as she just waited there for an opportunity. Death stared forward as the two guards that were on control soon passed near him a few feet away.
"So why did the captain come today?" One of the two patrolling guards said to the other as they stopped in the middle
"Well from what rumors are saying around that he is planning something for tomorrow. Says when he comes back tomorrow at whatever time he feels like it they initiate the plan" The other guard said as the first hummed in thought
"Well isn't that something" the first guard said before giving the other guard a nod as they continued their patrol
Death scrunched his brow behind his mask as he wondered what that was about. He wondered if he should've went on the offensive to learn what was going on but that was not going to happen as he chose what to do and he'll deal with the consequences later as he went back to work.
Death knocked on the crate he was behind as the closest patrolling guard heard it as he came closer to the crate Death was behind. As soon as he was close enough Death popped around the corner and sent a strike against the man's groin stopping short of anything the man could say. Death followed up with him shooting his head up as it hit hard against the man's chin. Death quickly grabbed the man and flipped him over the cover as he grabbed the man's head and slammed it against the asphalt knocking the man unconscious
Death stayed behind the cover as the other patrolling guard looked around for the other guard
"Hey! Where did Evans go?" The guard called turning to the six guards in front of the warehouse
"The prick must've went on break early again" One of the six complained as Death took this time to move to the right as the patrolling guard joined the other six. Death quickly hid behind a concrete road barrier that had a lamp post on the other side of him where Ivy was currently hanging from the building. The four guards were conversing with each didn't notice what was going on with the others.
Death knocked on the concrete barrier and stared at Ivy as he saw her ears twitch. Ivy turned her head looking around as she opened her mouth to let out the soft shrill to 'see'. She closed her mouth and looked directly at Death's direction and gave him a nod. Death grabbed a piece of rubble and threw them over to the seven people to the opposite direction of them to distract them.
Ivy jumped off the building to a light post and spun around the arm of the lamp before settling down to a crouch on top of it as she was directly above the four guards. Death rolled to the next cover that one of the guards was standing in front of. Ivy let out the soft shrill again as she waited for Death to move
"Hey, do you hear that" One of the guards asked as Death jumped over the cover and grabbed the back of the man's head as he slammed it down into the ground. Ivy at the same time dropped down between two guards and slammed their heads together before moving past them as she sent out a straight kick to the remaining guards gut. Death followed up with a strong right uppercut that sent the man flying and conveniently landed behind cover.
The two quickly hid the other three guards bodies so others won't find them before they moved towards the warehouse. They stopped when they remembered that the seven guards were still there. Death noticed to his right that a window was open up on the second floor of the main building. Death tapped Ivy's shoulder to follow him as he skillfully climbed the side of the building before hanging of the ledge of the window as Ivy made her way to him
"It's odd, for a Draco faunus of death you're quite calm and nonviolent when you want to be" Ivy pointed out from the short time they were around each other
"I've always been one for thinking things through and planning my attacks. Never was one to blindly attack for no reason" Death stated as Ivy nodded with understanding. Death leaned his head through the window as he saw no one was on the catwalk at the moment so he pulled himself in with Ivy close behind. They walked to the edge of the catwalk and looked down to see many soldiers conversing with each other and training
"It's going to be difficult to get the soldiers out without setting an alarm" Ivy muttered as Death went into a thinking pose as he hummed in thought. Death looked around on the ground floor as he saw several soldiers complain to what he could guess was a technician
"I told you that if the electric cables blow out again in the middle of the game I'm holding you responsible if I lose my bet" A soldier complained as the technician scoff
"Don't worry, I already replaced those faulty cables. Unless one of you numbskulls rip them out you won't have any problems" The technician explained before walking away from the irritated soldier
". . . . Ivy" Death said turning to her
"Already on it" Ivy said going to look for the power box for the building
Death then continued to scan the area as he saw on the far end of the building that there was a stairway down to what he guess was the basement. Death moved along the catwalk quietly as he can as he overheard a conversation
"So the boss just called a little while ago" One of the ranking officers said
"What did he want?" The soldier asked
"He was just informing us that tomorrow we are going to have to prep the firing squad if we don't get our demands. Tell those pitiful bastards down below to pray that their army listens to our demands or they'll never get out of here alive" The officer sneered as the soldier smiled sadistically
"Of course sir" The soldier said giving the officer a quick salute before heading off. Death kept an eye on the soldier as he was right about the soldiers being in the basement as he watched the soldier go down the flight of stairs.
Death continued down the catwalk as he stood up above the stairway. Death jumped off the catwalk and scraped his hands against the wall to slow him down before he jumped off and landed in a crouch which turned quickly into a back flip down the stairway before anyone saw him. Death landed in the middle of the stairwell as he quickly moved down to the basement of the building. Death stopped at the door and cracked the door open to peer inside the room
Death saw there were only four guards and the soldier at the moment while the entire room was lined with cells with the soldiers he came to free were behind of
"Here that boys it seems that your government doesn't give a damn about you seeing as they haven't given in to our demands" The soldier said snidely
"Go fuck yourself" A woman shouted from one of the cells
"Now now ma'm that's no way to talk to someone who could possibly help you survive" The soldier said with a lecherous grin
"I'd rather take a bullet than your small excuse of a manhood" The woman retorted as the other soldiers laughed while the guards looked towards the only entertainment at the moment with interest
"Shut the hell up you bitch before I do as you say and shoot you now" The soldier said as Death took the moment to just calmly walk into the room as none of the enemy guards looked at him
The soldiers all looked at Death in surprise from him walking in but more importantly when he grabbed the nearest guard and choked him to unconsciousness without stopping his walk towards the main cell
". .Oh why don't you do it then you cowardly piece of shit" The woman said realizing that Death was here to save them as she continued to take the guards attention as Death dropped the man he choked unconscious as he made his way to the next guard
"It seems you have a death wish you ignorant bitch" The soldier said hotly as Death grabbed the second guard as he strangled him to unconsciousness before dropping him as well as he moved to the third guard.
"I'm ignorant, please you wouldn't notice if Death itself was standing behind you" The woman said with a confident smirk as Death had to let out a small chuckle at that coincidental choice of words. Death grabbed the third guard in one arm as he started choking him unconscious as he reached out with other arm and choked the forth guard unconscious while walking up behind the soldier
"What the hell you talking about you damn whore!" The soldier shouted before jumping from fright when two unconscious guards dropped on both sides of him. The soldier quickly whirled around before he came face to mask with Death looming over him, just as the woman said
"From where I come from it isn't nice to insult a woman you know" Death said in a calm voice as the soldier threw a punch at him which he caught in his hand. Death clenched the man's fist as he slowly brought the man to his knees in pain. Death shook his head at the pathetic excuse of a solider in front of him before slamming his fist against the man's face as the soldier dropped like a bag of bricks as a indent of Death's fist was left on the man's face.
Death scoffed at the unconscious man as he turned his attention to the soldiers behind the cells "Well it's about time someone came to rescue us" The woman said with a huff
"Uh huh, well seeing as I don't have a key mind moving back" Death said waving his hands for them to move back. They were confused until they realized what he was doing as he pulled out a scythe
"WAIT!" Several of them shouted as Death halted mid swing
"What now, I thought you wanted to get out" Death asked dryly
"These cells are connected to the security system. If they are destroyed it will send out an alert and sound the alarm. So either find the key card to unlock these cells or find a way to shut off-" The woman was cut off when the power went off
"You were saying" Death said with an cocky attitude as the woman glared at him with a huff as she looked away while crossing her arms "As I said before, stand back" Death said holding his scythe up as everyone in the cells moved back. Death swung his scythe in a spiral motion around as a vortex of wrath swirled around him as all the bars of every cell shattered to nothing
"Now, Ivy how does it look up there" Death asked calmly while turning to the bat faunus who appeared out of nowhere causing everyone to jump up in shock at the new individual.
"They're all moving around like idiots while the faunus are laughing at their associates. Other than that we have a clear shot to get to the side hanger door and get out of the building" Ivy stated calmly as she turned around and made her way towards the stairway
"You heard the woman, move out and don't make any noise once we're outside the building" Death commanded as they all nodded as they piled out of the basement and back on ground level. Death was in front as he reached the top as several soldiers who couldn't see stumbled passed him as he discretely made his way to the side as his fellow soldiers followed him carefully so they would not get lost in the darkness.
Death made it to the hanger door where Ivy was waiting for him as she gave him a nod that it was good time to leave. Death grabbed the bottom of the hanger and opened it lightly for the soldiers to get out by crouching. Ivy moved under to the other side as she and few others grabbed hold of the hanger door to let Death through. Once on the other side the soldiers dropped the door gently behind Death
"We're not out of here just yet, keep it quiet and move out" Death said as they all nodded as they followed Death in a straight line straight back to where they entered before noticing that whatever guards that were patrolling the area was knocked unconscious "At least he's useful for something" Death muttered
"I heard that" Akio said crackling the ear piece to life
"Well I would be lying if you didn't really have a purpose here" Death stated bluntly
"Wow, I think I might have to curl up into a ball and cry" Akio said with faux sadness
"If you do turn off the earpiece so I don't have to listen to you cry" Death replied dryly
"That was a joke" Akio said dryly as the earpiece turned off
"What was that" The woman he freed asked
"Just an idiot" Death replied quickly as they made it to the walls of the compound with little resistance. Most enemy soldiers they encountered would be instantly silenced as the soldiers that were with Death would tackle them down before they had a chance to yell out for reinforcements "Alright, get going" Death said as one by one they climbed the walls "I'm amazed how easy this was" Death commented softly to himself which the woman heard
"Honestly the soldiers in this place is lax that it's sickening to think that we were captured by them" The woman commented bitterly "By the way, I'm Second Lieutenant Night Natrisha Gale, at your service" The newly named woman said with a salute
"A pleasure Lieutenant" Death said respectfully with a nod "Now how about we leave this place" Death said before he was stopped by Night
"Not yet" Gale said determinedly "I know for a fact where their communication center is and I would like to grab whatever I can from their mainframe before blowing the crap out of it" Gale said seriously as Death blinked at her request
"Why? I mean, I know the value of information but why blow it up?" Death asked curiously
"So that way their communication is down when we come to take this place on a later date. It won't be instantaneous as I would plant a hidden explosive from one of the crates we passed by before I detonate it a good distance when the time is right" Gale said as Death looked her in the eyes as he let out a tired sigh knowing the woman was determined with this to the end.
"Fine, let's go" Death said tiredly as he shook his head at her. Death put his finger to his earpiece "Oi, I'm going to be here for a little while longer. Make sure you get the soldiers to where they need to be. Ivy you too, and before you say anything it's because I honestly don't think I can rely on Akio's skills alone to protect them all as they are all weaponless at the moment" Death pointed out as Ivy nodded calmly and wordlessly jumped over the fence with the rest of the soldiers
"Hurtful you think I can't protect them but understandable, try not to get into trouble without us" Akio said with a hint of worry
"If I wanted to get into trouble I would've just shot everyone in my sight and get this infiltration mission over with" Death said dully as he turned his earpiece off before Akio could respond "Let's get going" Death said to Gale who nodded as they followed the edge of the wall down to a set of buildings
"It's odd we haven't seen anyone at all" Gale muttered as Death grunted in agreement
"Do people just wait around until something interesting happens before they start doing something?" Death muttered as he has to admit, all the soldiers in this entire base are complete idiots if not one alarm has been set off.
"I wouldn't be amazed if we go through this entire place without a single alarm" Gale said as fate decided to throw a wrench at them as the alarm now rang out "D'oh!" Gale said in a hushed voice as Death face palmed
"I seriously saw that coming" Death muttered as he watched as three times the soldiers came out of nowhere and began to search the area ". . . So is this still necessary" Death asked as he didn't really care anymore for this mission and wished to get it over with
"Dammit, unless we have something to grab their distraction then I could sneak past them and into the communication room. Shame we don't have a distraction on hand, like a giant Grimm or some sort of monster to distract them with" Gale said hitting the wall she was leaning on as Death stared at the back of her head. Gale noticed this and turned to him with a raised brow "What?" Gale asked sincerely
". . . . I have to do everything don't I" Death muttered with a tired sigh as his Wrath swirled around his body as he jumped high in the air before plummeting like a comet into the middle of all the soldiers. As the purple haze disappeared Death's true form appeared holding onto his giant scythe
". . . . Goddamn" Gale said out loud in utter awe and shock as she watched all the forces in front of her tried their hardest to hurt Death as he just stood there menacing-like. Death soon turn it's hooded head towards Gale as if to give her what she thinks is a blank look telling her to get to work. Gale ran towards the communication center uninterrupted as the soldiers all focused on Death
Death, unknown to the people attacking him, was entirely bored as the rounds fired at him barely hurt him in this form. He noticed that a few were slowing down their assault against him when he figured that it was because he wasn't fighting back. So to fix this Death raised his skeletal hand as purple flames of wrath appeared in his hand as he threw it a good distance from them as it made contact with a vehicle. The vehicle that was hit instantly exploded into a ball of purple flames which made everyone attack him vigorously again which gave Gale more time for whatever she was doing in there
That was when he felt a stinging pain lash across his back. He turned to see a person holding a sword that glowing gray with aura. He then noticed several others like him appeared with various weapons of different shapes and sizes
'Hm~ This may be interesting' Death thought as he essentially hasn't fought people with these skills yet. Death watched as several of them disappeared struck him on different parts of his body as he actually felt it sting him with slight pain. Not that painful but enough to gain his attention at how strong they were able to hit. That was when one came up with a giant hammer, ones of which he would occasionally use, and striked it across his face that it made him reel back at the strength behind the hammer 'Okay, I felt that one. Seems not all of these humans are weak. They might actually prove a challenge against me. . . . hehe' Death thought as that thought started to make him laugh as his entire skeletal body shook as a low chuckle came from him before he let out howl of dark laughter that fell upon everyone in the compound.
Everyone stopped attacking as they slowly moved back away from Death in utter fear at his ethereal laughter. Even Gale who finished what she was planning stopped to stare in horror at Death as he continued to laugh darkly as it sent shivers down everyone's spines. Death slowly stopped laughing at the thought that humans could ever defeat him, no matter how strong they become he would always be stronger than them. It may seem cocky but facts won't lie as he hasn't felt anyone yet that could prove a challenge to him. Maybe if he had time he could find that Draco of life to see if she could prove him a challenge, but that's for a later date.
Death lowered his head and stared at Gale who flinched in his gaze before giving him a nervous nod as she ran to the wall next to the communication room and jumped over it. Now that Gale was gone Death figured the mission was over and calmly hovered to the giant gate of the compound and calmly as ever ripped it open with his bare skeletal hands to let him through. Sure he could've hovered over it but why not put fear into the souls of the people that he was allowing to live
Death calmly hovered out of the compound before dashing into the forest, leaving a blur of purple haze in his tracks. He reached a good distance away from the compound as his true self dissipated into nothing as he dropped to the floor before running at breakneck speeds.
Death approached a clearing and saw a single Bullhead which was probably waiting for him. Death got up to the Bullhead and slammed the door open startling Gale and a few other soldiers "If this is everyone we can go now" Death demanded dryly as Gale stared at him warily before nodding as she knocked on the cockpit door signalling them to leave
The Bullhead lifted off as it flew back to the city (I honestly haven't come up with a name for the place. Please leave a suggestion in the comments and I might use it. . . God I'm lazy) in silence as they apparently made it off scot free
"So tell me, when are we blowing that communication tower up" Death asked turning slightly to Gale
"Probably in the morning if they haven't found the hidden explosives. That's probably best when the soldiers take over the base in a probable undocumented ass kicking" Gale said bluntly as Death raised a brow behind his mask at her language "What? Just because I'm a Lieutenant doesn't mean I can't curse when I want to" Gale stated with a shrug as Death rolled his eyes "God it will be good to finally sleep in a bed again" Gale said tiredly with the others murmuring their agreements
". . . Actually, you don't technically have beds yet at the moment" Death said as everyone in unison turned their heads slowly at him "Technically we're going into the middle of a unprotected area away from the safeties of the kingdoms where you'll all be sleeping in tents. Probably without anything underneath you" Death said nonchalantly as everyone stared at him with a blank expression
". . . . Well fuck" A soldier said completely depressed
"Suck it up Jones" Gale said dryly
"For the last time, my name is Joannes Ma'm" Joannes said irritably
"I know, that's why I call you Jones because it's a hell of a lot easier to call you that than that frilly ass name" Gale taunted eliciting a laugh from everyone excluding Death who shook his head at the small group's antics. He decided to meditate for a bit as he ignored everything and calmly waited for them to arrive back at the city
It was an hour for the entire ride to come to a stop as they arrived as it was now day as the lull of night passed awhile ago. Death stepped off the airship first as he took his time to get back to the others of, technically, his war council.
As Death made his way there he noticed nothing out of the ordinary but felt a small tension in the air around some soldiers that were heading toward some Bullheads. He wondered where they were going but decided to find Draven and ask him about it. He made his way to where his Council met yesterday and didn't see any clue to where they were. Death shrugged as he decided to wait until someone comes to find him as he sat down under a tree and started to meditate
Death sat there in meditation for a good while until he felt someones presence in front of him as he opened one eye to see Raphael looming over him "Yes?" Death asked opening his other while he continued to sit in his meditating pose. That was when he noticed the sun's position was up high above showing that a good couple of hours passed by. Which in Death's opinion was quite odd that no one came to look for him until now
"It's good to see that you're okay Death" Raphael said with a smile that showed the sadness he was trying to cover up
"Enough Raphael, if there is something you need to tell me then tell me" Death stated bluntly as Raphael flinched as his smile wavered. Raphael couldn't keep up the optimistic appearance as his shoulders slumped down as he let out a sad sigh
"I should've guess you didn't hear anything at all as we been keeping this on a down low for a short while" Raphael said glumly as Death raised a curious brow at him
"What exactly happened?" Death asked curiously as Raphael let out a soft sigh
"The General and the others needed to leave to oversee something" Raphael stated as Death raised a brow behind his mask as he gestured the younger man to continue "It's because they went to personally see the destruction of an attack that happened just nearly two hours ago" Raphael said his voice quivering with sadness
"What happened?" Death asked wondering what has happened to get such a reaction from the optimistic man in front of him
"The Dust Falls made an attack early this morning when they learned you freed their captives. Seems they had this planned out for awhile as a countermeasure" Raphael announced in disdain as Death's eyes widen ever so slightly "The plan was carried out by Captain Korvin, the man that was going to be at the compound you were just at" Raphael asked as Death saw he was straining not to yell at him the obvious question. Why didn't he stop him
"How many casualties were there" Death asked reluctantly as he didn't want to hear the answer
". . It was in the thousands, the city they attacked had nearly half the city razed to the ground along with so many innocents, children included, killed in cold blood" Raphael said sullenly as he couldn't look at Death anymore as he left the man sitting there in complete and utter silence
Death just sat there contemplating what he just heard as the thought of saving a group of soldiers was compared to the death of thousands of innocents. Only one thing went through his mind at this point
"Was it really the right choice"
What?
You thought you were choosing the right choice for this chapter, hell no.
You need to know that not all easy choices will come out they way you want it to be. Sure sometimes it will but sometimes fate just one ups you saying you fucked up. . Which is basically life in general now that I think of it. . . Anyways~
You need to think about the outcomes and what possibly could happen, not because you think it's an easy decision but because it's the best option logically. You may have saved a group of soldiers that will fight for you but is it truly worth having thousands of innocent blood on your hand for that choice
Well, enough of the moral ambiguity it's time to the end the chapter. I usually promise to have this updated once a month but I don't trust myself with that promise anymore so I'm just going to say I'll see you again on a later date.
Now if you please could leave a comment, review, PM, I'll see you all later. Have a great day
