Boston, three weeks later.
Regina and David were walking in the park. The former queen had been feeling a little stressed lately and the doctor advised her to go out a little to breathe some fresh air to relax. David had then immediately proposed to accompany her. They sat on a wooden bench facing a pond.
-"So how do you feel?" The prince asked.
-"Better. Thank you." The brunette answered with a smile.
-"Do you know what caused you this stress? I thought you were doing alright and then suddenly..."
-"I know...!"
Regina sighed.
-"I was just thinking about..."
-"The father?"
She widened her eyes and looked at him.
-"No. No!" She paused for a second. "I haven't been totally honest with you."
David took her hand.
-"You can tell me everything Regina."
-"I was thinking about my...my son. Henry."
-"You...you have a son?"
-"Yes. I adopted him ten years ago and raised him since then."
-"Where is he now?"
-"He is with is mother."
-"I don't understand." The blonde man said frowning.
Regina sighed.
-"A few months ago he ran away to go find his birth mother. Emma." She told. "He found her and brought her to where we live. He apparently was so unhappy that…" The brunette closed her eyes trying to contain her anger. "Anyways. I tried to make things right. To be a better person but...I told you my baby's father was married?!"
David nodded.
-"Well he is married to Emma's mo... Best friend. So, now my son things the worst of me."
David looked at her with sad eyes
-"That's why you left."
-"Yes. Mainly. I can't bear walking on him and see that disdainful look on his face...it's just too much." Regina admitted as tears started rolling down her cheeks.
-"Hey...shhh."
David pulled her into his arms, stroking her back gently.
-"No matter what: you're still his mom. You raised him and gave him love. He'll come around and he'll be happy to have a little brother or sister."
The mayor let out a wry chuckle.
-"I seriously doubt it."
David took her chin between his index and thumb to make her look at him.
-"Trust me. And you're not alone...I am here!"
-"David sooner or later you will recover your memories or someone will find you and you will have to go back to where you belong."
David got closer to her face and put a soft kiss on her lips. It was a sweet and delicious kiss. Simple but meaningful. When he finally parted from her she couldn't look at him in the eyes. So he took her face between his palms and said softly:
-"I haven't felt more at home than right now. Here with you."
Regina closed her eyes and let the tears fall out as she grabbed his back and buried her face into his shoulders. She needed him. She needed him so bad. She was just fooling herself by pretending the contrary.
XxX
When they got home that day, David put Regina to bed. She was exhausted and needed to rest. Once she hit the sheets she immediately fell asleep. David looked at her with a smile. He took off her shoes and put her under the covers before leaving the room. He went into the kitchen and sat at the bar, pouring himself a glass of water.
He couldn't believe what she had been through. Her own son turning his back on her. No wonders she doubted herself with this whole motherhood thing. David was seriously considering going on the net to see if he could find him and talk to him. Letting him know that his mother was not the monster he thought she was. But how could he? How could he do such things when he wasn't even able to try to find own his family.
The man sighed. He knew that he had someone waiting for him...somewhere. He could feel it. A wife? Maybe he had a son too. A daughter? But he couldn't bring himself to look for them. He had no idea why. He just felt so good here with Regina. He was so happy. He wanted to be the man standing by her side pulling up her hair when she was having her morning sicknesses. He wanted to see her belly grow up with the baby and go with her at every doctor appointments. He didn't want to go to a stranger's house and act like somebody he –obviously- wasn't anymore. He wanted to be with Regina more than anything and he didn't even feel guilty about it.
Storybrooke, weeks ago.
Regina couldn't believe it. She didn't have her magic and she was locked up in a cell in the city she created while Henry was with Emma. She put her head into her hands and sighed.
-"Was it all just a game?"
She raised her head surprised. David stood behind the cell's bars, looking at her with severe eyes. She put on a sarcastic mask and smiled.
-"I beg your pardon?"
-"Did you mean any of it?"
-"I'm sorry Charming but you're going to have to be more specific."
-"Don't play stupid with me Regina. You know very well what I'm talking about." He shouted.
Regina wouldn't lie. She was very shocked to see him like that but she tried not to show it.
-"Everything you told me. Was it all part of a scheme to hurt Snow? Because I've been through it up and down and I don't get it."
Regina didn't answer. Instead she stood here impassive which started to annoy David.
-"Answer to me!"
-"What do you want me to say? That I planned it since the beginning? That I didn't feel anything while we were making love and telling you I loved you was part of my diabolical plan?"
-"Yes." He said still holding her gaze.
-"Well, I have a strong feeling that is already what you think."
-"I want to hear you say it."
-"Why?"
-"Because at least I will be able to go back to hating you without feeling guilty."
Regina laughed sarcastically.
-"Go ahead. I don't care."
-"I do. Say it Regina!"
Regina turned around facing the cell's wall.
-"Damn it Regina!" David shouted hitting the bars with his fist.
Regina jumped and turned to face him. During a second fear could be seen in her eyes but she wiped it away within the moment. She straightened and looked at him in the eyes.
-"In was all part of my plan to make that little brat pay for what she did to me. She took my love away from me...now we're even!"
David hadn't blinked. He was looking at her with no expression. Only the wetness of his eyes betrayed his emotions.
-"Thank you Regina." He said simply but honestly.
And with that he left the station leaving Regina, here, standing still. She looked at the door David just crossed, tears she hadn't realized falling down her cheeks.
Boston, present day.
Regina woke up around 4 in the afternoon. She stayed in bed for a while processing what had happened this morning between her and David.
He had kissed her and it had felt so good. She brought her fingers to her lips and closed her eyes. Suddenly, she heard a soft knock on her door.
-"Come in!" She said softly, sitting up.
She saw David entering the bedroom with a tray in his hand. She smiled softly at him.
-"Am I dreaming or did you just cooked for me?"
-"Well if slice of bread and honey with a glass of orange juice is cooking for you…Well yes I did."
She laughed. The prince came closer and put the tray on the bed and sat next to her. She took one of the slices and ate a piece.
-"That's delicious!" She said with the mouth full causing her to split half of the bread.
She put her hand to her mouth.
-"Sorry!"
David laughed.
-"Hold on! You have a little bit…"
David leant towards her and wiped away a small crumb on the corner of her mouth. He paused a moment and looked at her in the eyes.
-"What?" She asked raising a brow.
-"Nothing. I'm just admiring your beauty."
Regina blushed almost instantly.
-"Stop it, please."
He put a small kiss on her lips.
-"I will never stop saying how beautiful you are. You should start getting used to it." He said a large smile.
Regina grinned shyly.
-"So when will I be able to go with you at the doctor's office?" David asked sitting on the bed next to her.
-"I have a meeting in a week. If you want…"
-"Oh I want!" David said more than happy.
-"Well. It's done then."
Regina smiled followed soon by David. They were happy. They really were.
Hi everybody. As promised here was the new chapter. I won't be uploaded as often as before as I'm almost officially on holidays and I have a few things planned with some friends. But I'll try at least one chapter a week.
