Chapter 6: Bruce Eastwood
A/N: The reason I took a long hiatus for this was because I was thinking of Piper's weapon and element. I didn't know what to transform the wrench into, so it was difficult. I was going to make her Djinn's element strength, but I wanted to make her unique.
Theo's View. Inside Hakuei's Caravan.
Ever since I've received that power from Ereshkigal, I haven't felt any different. It had been a month in our journey, and we still haven't reached the northern coast of the Tenzen Plateau.
While the Caravan was stationed, Marcus, Natasha, Carson, and Hakuei were sparring with their Djinn Equipped weapons. Natasha showed the least amount of technique, while Carson was shown to actually hold against Hakuei's pole arm, though the latter was more unpredictable and utilized her wind powers to gain the advantage. Carson's boons involved his two different weapons, though he has only shown offensive measures when he uses his weapon in axe form.
I wished we could've took a car, but no one here knows how to build one. Speaking of car, I haven't talked to Piper recently and she's been staying inside most of the time; I haven't seen her Djinn Weapon yet. All she's been doing is swinging around her wrench ever since she threw away her phone. I decided to talk to her, let her feel a bit more connected with the group.
"Hey Pipe," I greeted.
"'Sup T," she replied in a calm voice.
"You haven't talked much with the others after a month. Is anything wrong?" I asked.
Piper smiled and looked away from me while tossing her wrench into the air.
"Nothing's up," she replied.
She examined her wrench with a somewhat gloomy aura.
"You should train with the others; show me your Djinn Weapon,"
She shrugged and she followed me outside.
We left the already stationed caravan and we both looked around. We are currently near a Taiga; the temperature is somewhat cold, yet the grass and trees are quite green. We might be getting close to the northern area. Suddenly, I see a fire in the distance. I squinted my eyes and I swear I saw a man with a pistol, leading a large army of bandits. Wide-eyed, I ran to the sparring King Vessels and warned them of the distant fire.
"Lady Hakuei, there's a fire in the distance. We should see what's going on there!" I said to the black haired princess.
All four Kings ran to the caravan;Hakuei issuing a march toward the burning area. The 100 Kouga Clan warriors and the Caravan all moved forward at an extremely fast rate. These horses look like they're running over 60 km/h.
"How are the horses running fast, Hakuei?" I asked her.
She smiled and held up her fan.
"Not only can my Household Vessels create a wind barrier, but they can also increase the tailwind of these horses. If we need to get to a place in a hurry, we use Paimon's wind to push us forward."
"Nice," That's the only thing I could say.
In a mere few minutes, we were already near the area. I swear, where we started, I only saw the black smoke and it was as small a regular Pringles chip from my perspective before.
"We're already getting close," Hakuei said.
It was what looked like a camp, but it had a sort of tribal design. Are they nomadic? Looks like it, but not nomadic in the plains, but they are seafarers. It's like they're the lovechild of pirates and natives. The population of the tribe was small and a few children were running away. The adults, though gigantic compared to normal adults, were small in numbers and outnumbered by a large group of bandits with what looked like old ass pistols; Flintlocks or something like that. There were many bodies of bandits on the field, but the troupe of ruffians kept coming in like a swarm of army ants. I saw the leader of the group: a bald man with bulky muscles. Topless, he is only wearing a pair of black pants with white boots. He carried a large sword that seemed to match with the weapons of those tribesmen.
"Hakuei, may I take them on myself?"
I had a serious look on my face, causing Hakuei to be surprised by my will.
"Are you sure you'll be okay?"
I nodded and started floating on my staff with a smile on my face. She stared at me as if she stared at someone nostalgically. The Aladdin kid maybe?
"I'm a Magi, remember?"
I closed my eyes and I started to feel a mysterious dark power. In my mind, I see a ghostly image of Ereshkigal, embracing my body. I heard a gentle whisper through this ghost image.
Let the dead serve for your purpose.
I can hear the Rukh from the physical world flying around me. The sound of their ghostly howl and their flapping started to fly down to the ground. When I heard the Rukh's voice underneath the dirt, I opened my eyes.
"Azma Hasd"
A series of black skeletons rose from the ground, each armed with a curved sword. The looks of the Kouga Troop showed only surprise, possibly from my otherworldly magic. Bethesda, who mysteriously helped me and taught me about magic told me that these Magi are completely unique compared to the other Magi, and the ones with Light and Life held a much more divine power compared to the magic wheel's elements, Light and Life. She never really specified what they were, but Holly did.
"Theo, what kind of Magic is this?" Hakuei asked in a terrified voice.
I floated next to her and gave her a calm smile. A smile that basically says 'hey, I'm still on your side,'.
"Death."
"Death Magic?" Dorji said,"How is that possible?"
I walked toward the large group of bandits with the multitude of skeletons marching with me. The bandits had only looks of bloodlust and greed, only seeking to grab what they could from those large organic weapons. That coral-like weapon seems to have some sort of high value, considering its durability and stopping... no killing power. That weapon, I saw it completely slice through a caravan that was thrown at them by the leader of the bandits. I went in front of the small number of gigantic tribesmen with my own skeletal army taking their place as the defenders.
"Piper, Marcus, Carson, Natasha, will you stay back?" I turned to them before I commanded my horde to charge,"I'll protect you guys once again."
I stared at the damaged tribesmen and gave them a reassuring smile.
"I don't care who you guys are. Let me take care of it.
I raised my staff and pointed it at the large group of thieves. The more bulkier bandits attacked in the front lines, but some were immediately rid of by the skeletal fighters.
Azma Hasd. They summon the warriors of yore. Skilled they be, but frail they are. They will continue to fight for you if you have sufficient Magoi. When their bones are scattered, you can will their bones to live again, yet the tax of Magoi to revive them is moderate.
The front line bandits had some success in killing the bony man, but the people in the back used those weird flintlocks to shoot concentrated beams of electricity to kill off the bone army. I decided that I should fake their deaths; make them look frail. Doing this, some of the bandits started closing in to the group of tribesmen with coral swords. I pretended to prepare for close combat by entering a pole arm stance.
"Heh, that kid thinks he can fight us wit' just his staff,"
"Waste'em boys!"
They all charged with full force, stifling a confident grin.
"Azma Jidar!"
A straight wall of bones rose out in front of me, barring the progress of the bandits.
"Grgh!" I heard all of the large men getting electrified.
I looked back and discovered their paralyzed bodies. A group of bandits held flintlock pistols that discharged small sparks of electricity. They pointed their guns at me with malicious smiles. I glared at them angrily and raised my staff.
"Azma Seisella."
Immediately chained them up with spinal cords rising from the ground. The bones were strong enough to hold them and no matter how much they struggle, they couldn't get out. I decided to try out a spell that Bethesda taught me once. It utilized strength magic or something like that. I pointed my staff at them and chanted.
"Zorlf Kura!"
The bandits were encased in a dark ball. I shrunk the ball until they could barely move, but not enough to squish them. I pointed my staff toward the wall and fired the ball at them, knocking aside anyone who tried to breach the wall. With no thieves around, I summoned my skeletal army again and commanded them to pin down the bandits with enough strength to get up. The bone soldiers put their blades on their necks, yet didn't cut their throats.
"Ragh!" I suddenly felt a surge of electricity.
I knelt to the ground and used my staff to hold me up. I could barely move a limb. The leader of the troupe came in, holding an electric flintlock pistol. I tried to cast a spell, but he kicked my staff hand and kicked me into the ground. His kick pained me greatly, causing me to cough forcefully. There I was, lying down on the ground. The bone army can only live as long as I focus my magic. Without my staff, I can't channel my Magoi into it and cast spells. He stomped on my chest and pointed the gun at my face point-blank.
"Any last words, kid?"
I'm too paralyzed you idiot!
*bang*
Piper's View
I shot the gun out of that thief's hand with my weapon. The muscly leader looked at me and licked his lips as if he's lu-you know what, he probably is. Of course, I'm wearing the pants part of my tech uniform and showing my tight black tanktop.
My weapon is pair of double barreled revolvers each with two barrels that hold 8 barrels each. The revolvers are black with blood red trims. The handles of the revolvers had model shotgun-styled handles, but without the lever. Luckily I have my PAL, which I got at age 10.
"Piper?" Theo exclaimed.
"You wanted to see my Djinn Weapon?" I said with a relaxed smile,"Here it is. But this time..."
I spun both guns and went into a fighting position. I made the hammers of both guns touch each other as I looked down upon it. I quickly spun around and leaned backward while bending my right leg and stretching my left leg forward. I extended my left arm and bent my right arm while pointing both guns at the muscly leader.
"I'll protect you."
The once pinned-down thieves got up and charged at me, while some fired their electric bullets at me. 5 were coming at me from all directions. I quickly spun around while firing shots, nullifying the electro bullets's path. Some of the front line soldiers were scared and some continued to charge forward, seeing that I only used ranged weapons. They're wrong.
When they got into sword range, I swung both guns to the side. Each of their barrels split apart and stuck each other to a red chain. My gun are also a pair of nunchaku. I've never wielded them before, but for some reason, it feels like these guns are guiding me. I put my left one into resting position: holding one gun while the other linked gun is held between my arm and rib. I parried sword swing with my right hand nunchaku by swinging it in an arc. He was fazed and I quickly used my left gun to fire a point blank shot to his chest. My gun fired a short ranged fiery explosion that knocked him away. Tossing my left nunchaku in the air, I quickly did a spin while my nunchaku extended outward and fired a shot at each one in front of me. At the right timing, I grabbed the barrel of my other nunchaku and swung in a wide arc while firing a salvo of bullets. The bullets caused a massive explosion that knocked away anyone who was foolish to stand near it.
The only one left was the leader. He only had twin swords left after I shot his gun away.
"Mmm, I love action ladies, you know?"
*sigh*
I rolled my eyes from his perverse comment.
I converged my nunchaku back into dual barreled revolvers and shot behind me, launching me toward him.
I initiated with a kick, which he blocked with his swords and quickly did a back flip while propelling myself away with four gunshots to his swords. When I landed on the ground, I went into nunchaku mode and swung my left hand nunchaku inward and swung my right one upward while twirling them, which were all blocked with one of the swords. I swung my left nunchaku outward, which was once again blocked and quickly put my hand on the handle and jammed the barrel into his sword and fired a forceful buckshot, knocking him away. His feet skidded the ground as he was knocked back. Once he was fully halted, he dashed forward and attempted to strike me with his swords. Overhead swing, dodge to my left. I countered with an arc swing with my right hand while rotating my body. He used his other sword to swing horizontally, but I spun around once again while ducking and swept his legs with my feet, causing him to fall. The man used his blades to halt the fall and now he was standing on his blades. We both clashed foot and nunchaku, twisting my wrists while he swung his foot around as if he was breakdancing. After I swung both of my nunchaku, the barrels on each revolver popped out and threw out the used ammo. Through magic, new bullets were formed and placed in the chambers as I quickly merged them back into double barreled revolvers. I aimed at him with both revolvers and charged two large bullets within the barrel.
"Abaddon Infigar!"
A huge burst of flame exploded from my guns and fully engulfed the thief leader in flames and also pushed away. All eight bullets in each barrel were forcefully released from the barrel, leaving all of the chambers empty.
The man's clothes were nearly burnt off and his skin was charred. He seems to be breathing albeit heavily. He'll be fine, as long as he gets out.
The chambers of the barrels all exuded steam as I stood victoriously over the large army of bandits. The thief leader spoke weakly.
"W-who are you?"
I raised my brow.
"The name's Piper Le..."
I twirled my guns and swung to the right, transforming them back into my wrench.
"But you can call me..." I put my wrench on my back,"Dynamite Inferno."
Author's Notes
I decided that the closest thing that resembles a wrench is a gun... well 2 guns with 2 barrels each. Yes, the gunchaku idea was inspired by Sun Wukong in RWBY, but I still wanted Piper to have a "desperado" air, which is why I decided I should make them dual barreled guns instead of a bo staff/gunchaku.
Speaking of RWBY, don't think I got the team names idea from the teams. I just simply thought of it, and I had no thoughts about RWBY whatsoever. I got the idea when I realized that I could spell FEAR using the first letters of Franklin and Emiline (first two characters I thought of).
RWBY is a pretty neat animation and has quite a good storyline. I've gotta admit that Monty Oum is pretty badass and his animation is really fluid.
Aside from that, this concludes Volume 1 of ApoTheosis, or the CNTMP Djinn Arc. Next Volume will be something juicy.
Also, I'm going to be on Hiatus for the next few weeks due to real life issues as well as setting up the stage. Abra Cadaver may or may not update on Friday and/or Saturday.
