Murder

"Yes, that's right. We'll continue this discussion on our next scheduled call." Brennan disconnected the call and looked up to find Booth watching her from the doorway.

Booth moved away from the door to sit next to Brennan on the couch. "Did I hear you mention murder? They're not trying to pull you into a case are they?" Booth scowled.

"No Booth that was my editor. We were discussing my next book; our first literary collaboration. You do remember we wrote a murder into it, as there is in every one of the books I've written."

Booth relaxed and sat back with a grin, then bolted up again looking offended. "Wait! What do they want changed? They can't have a problem with what we worked out with the case! We've done a great job of establishing a murder that is almost perfect, but not so perfect it'll defeat Kathy Reichs and Agent Andy."

"No, no they don't have a problem with the case and your input on the character motivation was invaluable, but you know getting a novel published is always a process with many steps involved. I can go over the suggestions with you; the changes to the story are minor. Most of the call just had to do with timelines for when the final draft needs to be submitted. We can go over it all later. My next call with her isn't until a week from now."

Booth leaned back again and pulled Brennan to lean against him, then kissed the side of her head as he said: "I do love that we now have a new working partnership. I just feel more complete when you're not only my partner in marriage and parenthood, but also when we have a working partnership. I love our life right now."
