Hey guys, alright, so this took a little longer that I intended it to be, I caught a cold that all of last week, so I was a bit too delirious to try and write anything.
Lol, but I did try, some sentences in this chapter needed fixing because they didn't make any sort of sense. Just glad I didn't post it as it was. XD
Sorry for the wait on this guys, I hope you like it:D:D
After their oldest daughter went off to play with her friends, Topps decided that he, Tria and Tricia should go out for a family walk and also go to field of yellow flowers to graze in on their way.
Tria thought that it was a wonderful idea, at first. But once they got to the field she couldn't help but feel nervous about Tricia being with them. While the Great Valley was a fairly safe and wonderful home, it certainly had it's share of dangers.
And the field that had the most yellow flowers growing on it was a sheer drop that lead to an open glen a good distance below it.
Tricia could get very hurt if she got too close.
"Tria, are you alright?" Topps asked when he noticed his mates worried expression.
Tria blinked and met his gaze for a moment before she looked back to her daughter. "Oh yes Topsy, I'm fine, but... I'm just so nervous about bringing Tricia here with us."
"Why?" Topps asked with a confident smile. "The two of us are here with her, there's nothing to worry about."
"Just look at how happy she is,"
It was true, the little pink Triceratops appeared to be having the time of her life as she ran across the grassy ground while chasing blue butterflies.
"It's just... what about the drop?" Tria asked, shifting her concerned gaze over to where the earth just seemed to end.
"Oh she won't go near it, not with us and all these tasty yellow flowers around." Topps assured. "Tria dear, you worry too much."
Tria inwardly snorted and rolled her bright blue eyes. This was coming from the most over protective Threehorn in the Valley; who would get on his eldest daughter about playing a tad too rough?
But she figured that her mate had a point, Tricia knew to stay near by, the only reason she would wander away is if she saw something new or she'd try and follow after her sister. But Cera was off playing with her friends somewhere, and there was nothing new to catch the curious infants attention, so she didn't have to worry about Tricia leaving their side.
So, making herself take in a breath to relax, she finally joined her mate and began to graze on the flowers.
While her parents ate, Tricia was having too much fun playing with the butterflies to join them. She giggled as she jumped and tried to catch them, but they always seemed to flit away just out of reach until they finally grew tired of dodge the persistent infant and fluttered off over the edge where she could no longer chase them.
Tricia only watched them go with a large smile on her face before she finally lost interest and began looking over the flowers. After running around, they were starting to smell really good to her.
"Goooal!" a voice exclaimed loudly, stopping Tricia from taking a bite and making turn her gaze to the edge of ground.
Tilting her head slightly, she walked closer and closer until her little toes were right before the line that separated her footing from the long drop to the ground below. But that didn't matter to her as she let out a happy laugh at what she saw in the small, open glen.
Tricia waged her little tail to see her big sister and the nice, strange looking creature she meet yesterday playing with Ceras' friends. They were kicking around a large green melon in what looked like to be a new game.
"Cewwa!" Tricia started with a happy smile, leaning further over the edge to see more of the game...
…
…
…
…
C'mon Littlefoot!" Robin cheered. "One more point and we win the game!"
The Apatosaurus lowered his head as he continued to kick the melon and stay ahead of Cera. Ducky tried to intercept the large, round foot and kick it away, but Littlefoot quickly maneuvered around her, making her cry out in surprise as she tripped over her own feet and fell over on her stomach. "Catch it Spike!" she cried.
The Stegosaurus just stood there, laughing with eager anticipation and tail ready as he waited to see where Littlefoot would kick the melon.
And finally, after careful concentration, Littlefoot finally let it fly and everyone watched as it soared through the air towards to goal...
Only to Spike square in his open mouth.
Spike blinked in surprise to have the melon suddenly in his mouth. And his teeth had accidentally broken the skin of the melon, so once its sweet juice dripped over his tongue, his thoughts on the game were quickly chased away by his stomach and he crushed the fruit between his jaws; Humming happily as he ate his morsel.
" Spi~ike!" Littlefoot and the others moaned.
But a loud guffaw made them look over to see Robin walking towards them, holding her stomach as it began to hurt from laughing so hard. "Hahaha! That's one way to end a game." she managed to say wiping at the tears that started forming in her eyes as Spike continued to chew on the melon contently. "I guess it's a tie for today."
At that, everyone managed to give a smile as well. "You were right, Robin, soccer really is fun." Cera told her. "We should play it again, and my team will win this time!" minus the part about her team winning, the other young Dinosaurs all agreed with her chorus of 'Yeah' and 'Let's play again'.
"You're so on!" Robin said with a grin, but then her eyes shifted to Spike as he gulped down whatever was left of the fruit. "Buuut, we should probably find another melon first..."
"Waaaah!"
Robin and the others looked at each other in confusion at the sudden noise, and they began to gaze around to see if they could find where it was coming from.
"W-what that?" Petrie asked nervously when they could see nothing.
Robin suddenly heard a clatter to her right, where a tall cliff wall stood, and she looked over just in time to see rocks falling to the ground. She followed the rocky wall upward until she spotted something moving around on a small ledge just below the top of the wall.
"Do you guys see that?" Robin asked, pointing to what she saw. "What is it?"
Cera came beside her, squinting at what she pointed at. "I don't know, but it almost looks like it's..." She suddenly gave a loud gasp in realization. "Tricia!" she screamed.
Everyone gave a loud gasp at what she said, looking back up to the moving body. "What?"
But Cera said nothing more as she sprinted towards the cliff with the others following close behind until the finally made it to the base of the wall.
"How'd she get way up there?" Littlefoot asked fearfully.
"That doesn't matter, the important thing is getting her down before she falls!" Cera stated with a touch of anger in her frantic voice.
Robin noticed two heads look out from over the top of the cliff, and she recognized them to be Cera's dad and Tria. "Oh my gosh! Tricia!" Tria cried.
"Me go get help!" Petrie suddenly told them, flapping his wings and taking off into the air. "Me be back with grown up real fast!"
The human girl walked closer to the cliff, putting her hand on a small protrusion that was sticking out a bit. There were lots of them leading up to where Tricia was, if she was careful enough, then maybe she would be able lift her up to her parents.
Looking higher to her parents, their scared and worried expression finally helped her make up her mind.
"Guys, I'm gonna go get her!" Robin started, beginning to climb up.
"Robin no!" Littlefoot cried before he caught her by the back of her jersey.
"You could get really, really hurt!" Ducky told her, "You could, you could!"
"So will Tricia if we sit around and leave her there!" Robin told them, looking Littlefoot in the eyes. "Just trust me!"
Littlefoot hesitated for a moment, but finally, he let go of her. She was right, as much as he didn't want Robin to put herself in danger, if Petrie did come back with help soon...
"Be careful..." he told her.
Robin gave him a nod and began to scale the rocky surface once again. "Hold on Tricia! I'm coming to get you!"
Tria and Topps had noticed Robin as well, and they watched her as she gradually got closer and closer to their terrified child. "What does that girl think she's doing?' Topps commented in surprise.
"Oh please help our baby..." Tria prayed softly as she felt a small glimmer of hope for her daughters safety.
Robin wasted no time as she scaled up the wall, but she couldn't help but think that climbing seemed easier before when she would do it at recess at her school playground, and the when the divots she was using to climb started growing further and further apart, she couldn't stop the nervous butterflies from fluttering around in her stomach.
"C'mon Robin, this is cake." she started, trying to assure herself. "It's just like climbing the rock wall at school...only you have no harness.. and it's much higher." She peeked over her shoulder for just a second, but quickly averted her eyes when she started to feel dizzy. "And you will break your neck should you fall..."
Making herself stop, she shook the negative thoughts from her head and pressed onward. Nothing had happened so far, so she figured that she really had nothing to worry about.
Until she almost lost her grip due to a small stone falling down from above and smacking her in the middle of the forehead.
"Ow!" Robin cried, using one hand to rub the sore spot before looking up. And her eyes widened in shock to see that the base of the ledge Tricia was on was starting to crack from all the movement the frightened baby was doing.
"Tricia! You need to hold still!" she yelled as she reached up and grabbed the end of a long, gnarly tree root that had sprouted out from the side of the cliff and pulled herself up.
Thankfully, the baby did stop when she heard Robin's voice so close to her. And looked over to the side just as the girl's head popped into view.
"I'm here now Tricia," Robin started as she climbed up onto the narrow ledge with her. "Everything's gonna be okay."
With a grunt, she picked up Tricia around the middle and stood to her feet, careful not to needlessly shift their weight around on the already unstable platform.
"I'm gonna try and lift her up to you!" Robin called up to Topps.
Topps, had it been any other time, would have flat out refused anything the human girl offered him. But now, he no longer cared that Robin was strange, if she would get his daughter back to safety, then he wasn't going to rebuff any help from her.
He crouched his head down and waited until Robin began to push Tricia up along the cliff's surface towards him until her arms were as long as she could make them.
But it still wasn't quiet enough.
"Hurry!" Robin grunted, she was thankful that she had some support from the wall, otherwise holding up Tricia would be a lot harder than it already was.
Topps got to his stomach, and leaned down as far as he could go without feeling like he would go over the edge himself, his daughter was so close! "Just a bit more!" Topps started with a strained voice, as he tried to stretch his neck out as further. "I've almost-"
But Robin gave a fearful gasp as she felt her stomach drop when what little earth she stood on suddenly crumbled away to nothing, making Tria let out a terrified scream as she watched Robin and her child plummet to the ground below.
"NO!" Topps cried
Robin reacted almost without thinking, holding onto Tricia with one arm and reaching out with the other to grab hold something, anything.
And to her relief, her hand manage to close around the root that she had passed before.
But that relived triumph was quickly replaced with fear once again when Tricia's full weight was added to her own and strained on her arm. She may have been young, but to Robin, catching that root with her, and a baby Dinosaur was like she had a full grown, heavily muscled Rottweiler with her at the least.
And it didn't help when she fell hard against the wall, back first.
So along with having the breath knocked out of her, she couldn't get a good foot hold to try and take some of the weight off of her arm.
But never the less, Robin just grit her teeth and held on with all she had.
Tricia suddenly let out a whine that caught Robin's attention, and when she looked over, she saw that Tricia was looking at her face with a worried expression; Her lip trembling as her big eyes were close to tears.
Despite numbness beginning to spread in her muscles from holding the two of them up, Robin forced her self to smile to try and assure her. "T..Tricia, it's okay" she made herself say. "I've got you, there's nothing to worry about!"
Snap!
Robin let out a gasp when the root she was holding suddenly jerked, making them sway, and she looked up to see that the tree root was starting to rip apart at it's base.
"On second thought, maybe there is..."
They both let out terrified screams when the root finally snapped, but as they fell Robin quickly maneuvered herself so she was between Tricia and the the ground, squeezing her eyes shut and holding the infant close to her. If it was the last thing she did, she'd make sure that Tricia would at least walk away from this without a huge injury. Though... that still couldn't stop her from crying out when she finally felt her back hit the Earth.
But to her surprise, the ground was...soft; and she didn't hurt?
"Oh my," an aged, winded voice said.
Opening her eyes, Robin looked over her shoulder to see that she was laying on the top of Grandpa Longneck's head. Petrie had managed to bring help just in the nick of time.
"Robin, you really must stop climbing tall cliffs." Grandpa Longneck started. "I might not always be there to catch you in time."
After she properly registered that she and Tricia had been saved, she sprawled out over him with a loud groan. "I…am never…doing that again!" she said, her body trembling after the adrenaline surge finally wore off.
She suddenly felt Tricia moving around from her spot her stomach before her pink face suddenly appeared in her vision. And with a happy, high pitched squeal and she nuzzled Robin under her chin, making the human girl let out a sigh before she patted her head.
"Well...maybe never." she stated with a little grin before laughing as Tricia elevated her affection. "Hey! Tricia, that tickles!"
Grandpa Longneck slowly lowered his head down to let the girls off. Tricia hopped down effortlessly, But Robin kind of slid off and sat down on the ground. Her legs feeling a bit too much like jelly to stand at the moment.
"Cera! Robin! Is everyone okay?" asked Littlefoots' worried voice as he looked them over.
"I can't feel my arm right now, but over all, I think I'm good." Robin stated before they all looked down to see the baby Triceratops running around excitedly before she found her older sister.
"And I think Tricia's just fine too." Cera stated, nuzzling her nose against Tricia's.
"Tricia!" Came Trias' concerned voice, making them all look over to see that her and Topps had rushed down from to find their young one after she had been caught.
"My baby, you're alright!" she cried, cuddling close against her daughter before her blue eyes landed on Robin. "Oh honey, you saved her!" she stated, going over and rubbing her cheek against the small girl.
"I know! Did'ja see her?" Littlefoot asked excitedly.
"Oh yes, yes, yes!" Ducky began, clapping her little hands while Spike gave a big smile and nodded his head. "Robin was very brave, she was, she was!"
"She almost had Tricia to the top, I was really scared when they fell." Cera said, looking a little queasy as she thought about it.
"Me see that too!" Petrie said, landing on her shoulder. "Tricia and Robin fall very fast, but then she catch old root and then Grandpa Longneck catch her!"
"You big hero Robin!"
Robin blushed bright red at Petrie's statement, waving him away. "Oh hush, Petrie, I'm no hero..."
"But you certainly did a very heroic thing..." a voice suddenly added.
Topps stood off away from the group, listening on the sidelines as everyone gave their praise. He had a rather trouble look on his face, but after letting out a deep sigh, he trod over until he was standing right before the young girl.
Robin only gazed up at him in confusion at first when he just stood there silently, but after a moment, he cleared his throat and finally started to speak.
"You saved my daughters life," Topps stated, a grateful, but rather ashamed look on his face. "And now I realize that I was... I was wrong about you Robin."
"And for that I'm...well I'm...I'm..." He looked down at his feet, an almost embarrassed expression on his face as he tried to make himself continue.
But thankfully, Robin understood what he was trying to do and spared him of it. "It's okay Mr. Threehorn." she said as a small smile appeared on her face. "You don't need to say anything else."
"And...me too."
Topps returned her smile and gave a soft chuckle. "Well, I can't speak for everyone in the Great Valley, but where I stand, you're welcome to stay here Robin." He lent down and gave her shoulder a soft bump with his nose.
"For as long as you'd like."

Later that Evening...
"...Then the root snapped, and Tricia and Robin started to fall, but that's when Grandpa showed up and saved them both!"
After Grandpa Longneck brought Littlefoot and Robin back to their sleeping place,
"My goodness!" Grandma Longneck, started when Littlefoot finished the tale. And she bent her neck down until she was level with the young girl, a highly disapproving expression on her face.
"Robin, that was very reckless of you!" She told her in a stern tone. "What if Grandpa hadn't been able to get to you in time?"
Robin looked down at the ground "I'm sorry Grandma, all I could think about was helping Tricia." she told her. "If I wasn't there, who knows how hurt she might've gotten..."
"Reckless." Grandma Longneck said again before she let a smile form on her lips. "But it was very brave of you dear."
"Well, it's getting rather late, now." Grandpa Longneck suddenly said. "What do you say we all turn in for the night?"
"I think I'm gonna stay up a while longer." Robin said. "I'm still too jazzed about what happened to even feel tired."
"Me too," Littlefoot told them. "Is it okay if me and Robin stay here for a while? We're not too far from the sleeping place."
"Well, alright." Grandma Longneck said. " But try not to stay up too late."
"We won't Grandma." Robin promised. "Goodnight."
"Goodnight my dears." Grandma Longneck said as she and her mate started
When She and Grandpa Longneck were gone, Littlefoot and Robin just stayed up talking to one another. Well, Littlefoot did most of the talking, telling her all sorts of stories, all of which she was happy to just listen.
It was both fascinating and heartbreaking hearing about all the things Littlefoot and his friends had done together. She learned about how he and his friends were separated once from their herds before they overcame a perilous journey to reunite with them here in the Great Valley, and about all of the adventures that they had been on until they met her.
"So your Dad's the leader of an entire herd?" Robin repeated after Littlefoot finished telling her one of his stories.
"Yeah, he's really cool, his names Bron." Littlefoot told her with a proud smile. "Maybe someday I'll be just like him!"
Robin gave a short laugh, but her smile slowly dropped when she thought about something else. "But... your mom." Robin started.
At that, Littlefoots' shoulders sagged a bit; And with a sad frown, he laid down on the grass beside her. "She saved us when that awful Sharptooth attacked us, me and Cera I mean." he told her. "Then the Great Earthshake happened and that's when she..."
Robin averted her eyes when he didn't say anything more, hoping that she wasn't prying too much.
"But I'm not the only one," He quickly added. "Before her Dad met Tria, Cera lost her Mom too, and Ducky and Petrie lost their Dads' and Spike...well, his family is Ducky, her Mom and her brothers and sisters now."
"We've all lost someone, and even though we miss them, we know they wouldn't want us to be sad all the time."
Robin gave a nod, laying back and looking up at the stars. She was surprised that they all had it so rough before. Getting separated from their families, sticking together to find the Great Valley despite the fact that they were all so different, and overcoming those said differences to take down a ferocious enemy before they were finally reunited with their loved ones.
They had been through so much, but here they were, still able to laugh and play and spend their days in peace with out having to look over their shoulders for carnivores.
Well, spend them in peace as long as they weren't on one of their crazy adventures.
"What was your Mother like?" Robin asked. "I mean, if you don't mind me asking.."
"Oh, she was wonderful." Littlefoot started, seeming happy to talk about her. "She was kind and warm and she was very wise."
"She was the one who told me all about The Great Valley, she would always talk about how we would have a better life here, that we would be happy and safe." He looked to the stars with a soft sigh.
"But...even though she didn't make it here, even though I can't see her, I know in my heart that she's still with me."
He suddenly let out an embarrassed laugh, turning his head so she wouldn't see his blush. "But you must think that's silly, huh?" he asked.
"No, in fact, I think that you're...a lot like me." Robin started, making him look at her. "I...I lost my Mom too."
"Really?" Littlefoot asked in surprise.
Robin nodded, gulping down a knot in her throat. They only person she ever told this to was Alyssa, but she really liked Littlefoot, and she felt like she could trust him to keep it.
"I never knew my Dad either, but I haven't met him like you did with yours, so it was always just me and Mom and my Grandparents." she finally started after a moment. "Where I'm from, you have to work to earn something called money, and we use money to pay for things, like cloths and food, things that we need to live."
"My Mom was always working, and moving from job to job until she could find one that would pay her well and also let her spend a little more time with me."
"Because of that, I never saw her very much; But she never missed missed a birthday or a play that I was in, and every night she would read me a story and lay with me until I fell asleep." Robin gave a smile at the nice memories that ran through her head. "I knew that she loved me, and I love her very, very much."
" But...I remember the last time I saw her, saying that she might've found the perfect job in another town, so she packed a few things in the car and had me stay at my Grandparents."
"Mom always left me with them so it wasn't anything new, Gramma and Grampa always took good care of me when she was working, their house was like another home to me." Robin continued, feeling her eyes mist over as she thought back. "But when they got that phone call, when they said that there was a bad accident,"
"When they said that she wouldn't be able to come get me anymore..."
"Robin?" Littlefoot asked hesitantly. She didn't answer right away as she clenched her jaw to keep it from trembling, and rubbing her eyes with the back of her hand.
"It was...hard. I didn't think I'd ever be able to smile again without her... but then I thought about what she would say if she was still here, seeing me being sad all the time... so here I am." she said as she turned on her side to face him with a small grin. " And even though I can't see her, I know that she's still there, somewhere, still watching over me."
" Who knows, maybe your Mom and mine are together now, watching over us both."
"Yeah!" He agreed with an eager tone. "I bet they are!"
Even though they felt awake at the moment, the two of them simultaneously let out large yawns, it was getting pretty late.
"What'd ya say we turn in for the night?" Robin suggested as she herself got more comfortable while Littlefoot only gave a nod before curled his tail around himself and closed his eyes.
But Robin kept her eyes open, just staring at him for a moment while chewing on her bottom lip and thinking hard about something before she finally spoke up. "Hey Littlefoot..."
Littlefoot opened his eyes and looked at her. "Yeah Robin?"
"...Thanks for being my friend."
At that, Littlefoot gave her a soft smile, scooting himself a bit closer to the young girl before settling down again.
"You're welcome."
Aaaaand that's it for this chapter.
Whew, I hope you all enjoyed, be sure to let me know what you think:D:D:D
