CHAPTER 5: Escape
Normal POV
Kendra yanked her hand back, startled. She hadn't used her full healing power to wake Gavin, and yet here he was, awoken. Gavin sat up, looking confused. "What are you all doing here?" he asked.
"Well, you see, the Sphinx gave us a kind invitation to spend the rest of our lives in a dungon, and it sounded like fun, so how could we say no?" Warren said with a straight face. Kendra bit her lip to keep from laughing. Gavin turned to Tanu. "Can you explain?"
Tanu explained to Gavin about the abush. "I have been hearing that we, The Kignts of the Dawn, won the battle. I've heard it was quit a fight." Gavin said. Suddenly, he looked over at Kendra.
"Kendra, now that you know the truth-"
Kendra cut Gavin off. "Forget about it."
"WHAT truth?" Warren asked.
Kendra did her best to explain what she saw.
"What did my brother do?" Gavin asked.
"Not much. Just trapped me inside a magic knapsack, nearly killed Kendra, and he also killed a few of our friends, but other than that, he was nice company." Warren said.
"Warren, please cut the sarcasm." Tanu said.
"Gavin, why didnt you tell us about your brother?" Kendra asked.
Gavin looked down. "I didnt think you would accepted me if i did. I mean, who would trust the twin brother of Navorog anyway?"
Well, he did have a point there.
But Kendra felt bad. All this time, they had thought that Gavin had been nothing more than a lying cheat.
"Gavin, do you have any powers?" Kendra asked.
Gavin nodded. "Other than changing from Avatar to Dragon, i can feel auras. I can bend fire, i can fly by keeping my human form, and i have some speed, strengh, and i can heal fast if given the chance."
Warren whistled. "Impresive."
Gavin nodded. "I havent been able to escape, seeing as they would beat me pretty often to make me weak."
Kendra winced at the though. How could someone be so horrible enough to actually beat another living being?
"Kendra, if you and Gavin combine poweres, maybe you can do something about our situation." Tanu suggested.
"Like what?" Kendra asked.
"Kendra, you can control the elements, right? Well, if you and Gavin can both creat enough heat to melt the bars on the window..." Warren trailed off.
Gavin turned. "You can do that?"
Kendra nodded. "But i need a flame in order to fire bend. I cant creat fire."
Gavin smiled at that. "You can leave that to me."
"Almost there..." Tanu said.
Kendra and Gavin sighed, and went at it again. Gavin created the fire, and when it was burning, Kendra and Gavin would both increase the heat.
Kendra and Gavin were both red in the face, due to exaustion, but also because they had to have their hands held.
When Kendra touched Gavin, the enegy would transfer, and make the heat stronger.
"Almost...almost...there!" Tanu said.
The teens stopped the flames. THe window bars had thinned out so much, that it was easy for Tanu to simply pull at the bars when it cooled.
They had to wait a while. at first, they were going to toss water on the bars to cool them, but then they decided that the steam would attract attention. Once the bars cooled, Tanu and Warren pulled at the bars until they broke loose with only small popping sounds.
Tanu, luckily was small enough for the hole they had created. He went out first, then Kendra, then Warren, and lastly, Gavin.
They just didnt count on the cliff.
Seth's POV
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN, JUST WAIT! ARE YOU KIDDING ME, MY SISTER IS IN THE HANDS OF THAT TRAITOR! WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY MIGHT DO TO HER!" I exploded.
Agad didn't seem to notice the fact that I shouted at him. He nodded solomly. "Yes. For a good reason. The Sphinx expects us to rescue Kendra and the others. He probably already had an ambush waiting for us, just in case."
Trask agreed. "He might. Besides, we have no idea where they took them, and if it is anywhere in Wrymwoost, then it makes it worse. After all, it had been Gavin Rose who led us through the sanctuary."
"Gavin Rose was a freaking Dragon Demon! Cant Raxtus help us with that?" I asked.
"Please dont bring me into the arguement." Raxtus muttered.
"ARGH!" I gave up and left the room. I went up to my room in Agad's castle. Once I got into my room, I fell back onto the bed. Not long after my outburst, I heard a knock.
"Seth?" Vanessa's voice came in through the door.
"Yeah?"
Vanessa opened the door and came into the room. "Seth, dont worry. I'm sure Kendra is fine. She's with Tanu and Warren remember?"
I sighed. "Yeah, i know. But still. The last time my sister was taken away from in front of me..." I swallowed. Despite the time that passed, I still cant talk about that day when I thought that Kendra had died.
Back then, before we knew about Fablehaven, before the whole Fairy Kind and Shadow Charmer thing, I never thought I would miss my sister so much.
"Listen. I can't really asure you that they are all without some type of harm. Mainly because Pony Boy took away the hold I had on Kendra and Tanu. Besides, Warren may be an idiot, but I know that he'll protect Kendra. And Tanu... I'm pretty sure they really dont want to mess with him much." Vanessa said.
I smiled a little. "Thanks Vanessa."
She gave me a quick hug. "No problem. Now, how about we go raid the kitchen? I'm hungary, and I really need a pain killer for my leg."
I had nearly forgotten that she had gotten shot on the leg during the ambush. Shrugging, I nodded.
Maybe some cake will calm me down...
Kendra POV
"Holy-" Warren started, before he caught himself.
We all clung onto the rocky wall behind us the best that we could. Carefully, we slowly edged along the cliff.
We nearly made it onto sturdy land, before we heard shouts.
Someone already found out that we were gone. Uh-oh..
I looked to the side and saw Gavin bite his lip. He looked at us and said, "Guys, I have a plan."
Tanu looked at him. "I'm listening."
Gavin shrugged, then smiled a little. "Just follow me."
Then he hurled himself off of the cliff.
I shrieked in surprise, while Warren said, "What a complete IDIOT!"
But then there was a flash of dark blue light, and a huge dark blue dragon rose in front of us. Then I understood.
I took a breath, and jumped.
I landed onto Gavin's back, hard. I winced as Tanu and Warren followed.
Gavin rose into the air and flew away. Looking back, I saw that they had us locked in some kind of castle. I shook my head and face the front again.
Gavin flew at such a speed, that it almost hurt to have my eyes open. "Where are we going?" Warren yelled out to Gavin. In a loud voice that sounded almost musical, Gavin replied, "To Agad's castle."
Tanu called out "Perfect. The others should be there."
The others. Vanessa, Mara, Trask, even Raxtus. And Seth. I hoped my little brother was okay.
Silently in the moonlight, we flew.
I'M ALIVE!
Sorry I took FOREVER to update. I just entered high school, so you know... homework. Making friends. Practicing for a guitar concert and creating a dance rutine for the dance group at school. So much stuff that high school brings. But for me, its fun. As long as I have my music and Milky Ways. :D
