Things you should probably know for the chapter:

Yes Jason as in Jason Todd

Oliver has an apartment in Gotham city so that Artemis can still go to school at Gotham Academy and it not look suspicious, you know cause they actually live in Star city and the world knows not about Zetatubes.

Star City Stags are a football team.

I've always imagined that when Paula was still alive, Oliver would come over every Friday night for a movie night with Artemis.

Funerals and Life After

Chapter 6: Different Apartment

Adjusting from the street scum of Gotham to being the daughter of a billionaire playboy was hard at times. Especially at times when Oliver dragged you to fundraisers and function for the cities elite in five inch stilettos and ridiculous dresses that have an unexplainable fabric to price ratio.

So whenever given the chance to escape the snobs and overpriced shoes, you run to it. Which was exactly what Artemis was doing now, walking down the dimly lit streets of Gotham, breathing in the cool night air and looking at the broken down buildings and the filthy pathways.

Voices sounded behind her, shouts and whoops of a group of excited teens. Artemis pulled her hood back to reveal her face and tucked both hands into her pockets. A casual stance that showed confidence to anyone watching her, a sign that she wasn't afraid of the big bad Gotham streets.

After a few blocks Artemis turned away from the open streets and down an alley, following the too familiar path of turns and overflowing dumpsters. After only a few minutes she arrived at her destination, a wide dingy alley partially filled with teens and two makeshift basketball rings.

"The Court" had been around for years, made by kids from nearby neighbourhood so that they could play b-ball. Overtime it had grown to the best hang out from kids who lived nearby, its location meaning that there were no territorial disputes over who it belonged to, everyone was welcome, as long as gang feuds and violence was left back on the street.

About 17 kids were around tonight, 10 sweaty bodies running up and down the court, 4 lounged on the milk crate bleachers and the others leant against the wall nearby. They all aged from about nine to eighteen.

As a tall dark skinned kid shot another hoop, his teammates celebrated, and all the players moved off court to rest. Artemis moved over to the milk crates, shrugging off her hood and unzipping her jacket, she approached a topless boy who was drinking from a plastic water bottle.

"Do you have room for another player?" He turned to face her, his blue eyes flashing in recognition.

"Didn't you move Artemis?"

"Yeah"

"Like into a mansion. What are you doing here?"

"Believe it or not Jason but I'd rather spend my nights here than be forced to walk in high heels."

"Ha! I actually believe that. Come on, looks like Cass need a break, you're playing on my team." He picked up the ball laying at his feet and backed onto the court. Artemis smirked and threw her jacket onto a seat and made her way onto court.

As the games went on Artemis genuinely enjoyed herself, laughing at some of the players antics and revelled in the feel of working up a sweat defending. At some point her bangs had fallen loose and her t-shirt had been disposed leaving her in a yellow singlet.

Scoring a three pointer she whooped in the air, "Yeah. Nothing but net baby!"

After five rounds she was starting to feel exhausted and collapsed beside Jason on the bleacher. Checking her phone she noticed she had a message from Oliver.

8:57 – From: Ollie-

"Don't want you out too late Kiddo."

9:13- To: Ollie-

"On my way back now."

"You up for another game?" Asked one of the younger players who had started playing two rounds ago.

"No, I've got to head back. Maybe another night." He shrugged off her dismissal and ran back to the court. Artemis stood up and slipped on her jacket, zipping it up and stuffing her top into her back pocket.

"Maybe next time you bring those high heels with you and show us how you strut your stuff with those rich kids." Teased Jason as he wiped off some sweat with his own shirt.

"In your dreams Todd."

"Ha yeah. Catch you Artemis."

"Bye Jason"

Artemis made her way back to the street and walked towards her old apartment building. In the dingy alleyway beside it sat the now barely used Zeta tube, which she used to transport herself to the other side Gotham, into a backstreet near Gotham Academy. From there she walked further into the city.

As she walked she looked at all the clean streets and nice shops and apartment buildings. The differences of the two sides of Gotham became apparent everywhere you looked. The restaurants were still mostly filled with men in classy suits and women wearing expensive looking jewellery. People walking on the pathways politely nodded as they passed and car lights could be seen at every turn.

Artemis reached a tall apartment building and entered, smiling at the doorman who wished her a goodnight. Riding the elevator to the top floor she unlocked the door to the penthouse. Inside she was greeted by Oliver sitting on the couch wearing a Stags jersey, with two boxes of pizza sitting on the coffee table.

"About time you got here kid, I was about to start the marathon without you"

"You wouldn't dare." Artemis walked over and kissed him on the cheek, opening up one of the pizza boxes and taking a slice.

"How was basketball?"

"Sweaty yet satisfying."

"Sounds good."

"Yeah it was…. It's strange but… it feels like nothing's changed even though everything has."

"Well let's see, same city, same basketball court, and the same Friday night movie marathon. Seems that the only thing that's changed is the location. If you don't like it I can always sell this place and buy a dumpster for you." He joked, laughing loudly when Artemis threw her crust at him.

"Hardy ha ha! Grab me a drink while I get changed. Then we can start the movie."

Five minutes later Artemis was curled up on the couch clad in shorts and an oversized t-shirt. Artemis tucked herself under Oliver's arm and snuggled in beside him, pulling a box of pizza onto her lap.

"You ready darling?"

"Yeah, let's get this movie started" she sang.

Oliver chuckled at the younger blonde and pressed play, settling into the couch as the opening credits for The Fast and The Furious, flashed across the TV screen.

Hope you liked this, because yes I did write it all in like an hour, so kinda rushed, but yeah.
