Chapter 6
A cold wind breezed through the ancient historic castle, once a place of joy now stood a derelict horror from its former glorious self. The once proud castle stood tall within a secret kingdom of Lucian which translates to "Light" in Latin.
But despite its name the kingdom had long ago been forced into darkness when its beloved Queen chose to marry a wizard instead of her intended, this divided her people allowing the ones called "The Four" to raise up and overthrow the Queen and take Lucian for themselves.
Lucian was not an ordinary kingdom, it was a secret land home of the elementals, a unique race that had the power to control the elements, they hadn't always lived in secret. Many centuries ago they lived among all of humankind but humans are a volatile and scared race so eventually a group came along called "The Spoken." They started voicing their fears and hatred against others that were unlike themselves until words were no longer enough. All creatures and magical folk were threatened, told they held to much power, and were killed over the years and many had perished in there darkest times.
After years of war soon a group was formed, the strongest from each race came together, strong enough to raise up and challenge the "The Spoken." But humankind always out numbered them so it was decided they would all disappear, out of sight from the humans so they could once again live in peace. Many arguments broke out because of this, some felt it showed weakness, others felt they would lose each other but sadly in the end with their numbers becoming fewer they did not have much of a choice.
Many centuries had passed since that time and they all had forgotten when they lived as one, and in turn each other. Still most races lived hidden keeping only to their own. Lucian was one of them and by doing so had no saviour, the people were broken and longed for a time when light would once again reign over their kingdom.
Dante stood proudly out on the stone balcony looking out over his kingdom, he was one of "The Four" and he had the ability of fire. It burned through his veins making him a forced to be greatly feared, he was a wild fire. He brought destruction and death wherever he went. Dante had never learned to control his flames and always allowed them to burn free and devour all in its path including himself. Long ago his soul turned to ash inside himself and he no longer felt emotions like the others and he no longer had a conscience. All he longed to do was cause pain and he rejoiced in it. Dante was all muscle with brown eyes and a constant scowl on his face, he was tall and well built. He was as ruthless as he looked. As he looked out he pondered over his accomplishments, his three, alone they were strong but together they were feared. Their power increased ten fold with each element working together as one no one stood a chance.
If you're wondering why there haven't been more that joined together, well the truth is that elementals are naturally a peaceful race. They are taught at a very early age to use there gifts responsibly and also trained to control their inner elements as not doing so could be fatal. At the young age of 23, all elementals go through what is called as the "Merge" this is when the elements inside start a battle for control of their host. Losing the battle always ended in death, until Dante. He was the first to survive the "Merge." However not being fully in control of his fire made him stronger and more powerful than the rest. Unknowingly to the others as no one had ever survived without full control. His power grew whilst his soul took the beating and after some time he taught others how to survive the "Merge" who then became known as "The Four".
Dante looked towards the table where his ... he never quite knew what to call these people, they served his purpose but a team they were not.
He pulled back his chair making sure it scraped across the floor making a horrible screeching sound notifying his subjects to shut up. He looked towards Zane, she had called this meeting as it seemed she had heard whispers around the town. Whispers about a saviour that was going to free the darkness that surrounded Lucian and bring the light back again. The whispers were sparking hope into the villagers again, this angered Dante as he loved the fear he created and relished in it. Hope was like the blanket smothering his fire as he felt his control slipping away.
"Where did these whispers come from? I want the person or people responsible!" Dante shouted smashing his fist down on the table, causing the table to crack.
"Does it really matter? Let them have their false hope, it'll only crush them more when no one comes." Connor said smugly. Connor had shaggy brown hair with deep blue eyes which suited him as his element was Water.
"You are a fool Connor! With every rumour there is a hint of truth, this has spread too fast to have no merit. We must to find the source and end this saviour!" Zane replied. A dark beauty with short black hair that she liked to style in a punk look. Her element was Air which meant she was incredibly stealthy. She had taken to hiding amongst the towns people for a few years now, it had mostly started though boredom but she soon found it bought sense of peace to her watching them go about their day. This meant she was always the first to notice when something changed and for a few days now she had been hearing rumors, it spread so quickly she was having a hard time tracking where it started.
Connor narrowed his eyes at Zane. He had never liked the woman. She appeared where you didn't want and knew things she shouldn't, she was always putting him down in front of Dante and it was starting to get on his nerves.
"Careful who you call a fool Zane, I don't appreciate name calling." Connor snarled.
"Enough you two! I agree with Zane, how long will it take you track the culprit?" Dante said looking towards her whilst his fingers drummed on the table in irritation. His blood was starting to boil something wasn't sitting right with him about this.
The only one not to say a word was Iris, her element, Earth. She just sat there looking unamused and disinterested but you could never judge her from her appearance. She may look innocent with her long blonde hair and sparkling green eyes but she was a twisted soul making it easy for her to strike, she was one not to overlook but regardless people still forgot about her and took her at face value.
"I want the source Zane, go now and don't come back until you have something." Dante declared before storming from the room without a backwards glance.
Bella slammed the door behind her so hard it cracked the wood, leaving a jagged line through the door, another slam like that and the door would most likely break in half but this wasn't enough for Bellatrix, her emotions running wild, her face felt taught against her skin, her fingernails had grown longer and she knew if she looked in a mirror she would see her wolf so close to the surface it would be staring back at her, the inner turmoil she was going through currently was torturous, her wolf did not understand why she was denying them their mate! Why did she walk away, she barely knew herself but so many past judgments running though her, there still held a disgust deep inside at the thing she had become, disgust that her mate was a mere mud...muggleborn, screaming internally, "I feel like I'm losing my mind!" So lost in her anger she ignored her basic instincts that were trying to tell her she was not alone.
"Well I do hope all your guests are treated to this delightful entrance… dear Merlin Bella, what has happened to your face!?" Cissa cried, she voice shook but she showed no fear, years of training perhaps.
Bella looked at her curiously, she may no show fear but she definitely reeked of it, she walked over to pour herself a stiff drink, looking back seeing Narcissa her youngest sister glaring at her with her arms crossed.
Bella turned fully to regard her sister with a drink hanging loosely in her hand. "Oh but of course dear sister, it is always my intention to be the most gracious of hosts and as for my face, well I am the most pretty of us all, no need to be jealous." Bella smirked, after a long drink her face starts to stop feeling so tight and her nails start to reduce, her eyes changing back to her former dark brown colouring,
"What are you doing here Cissa and how did you get in here?" she rasped out, her throat felt raw from the partial change.
Visibly pulling back to her confident emotional controlled self, Narcissa holds her head high and continues with what she came here to say, "I have my secrets Bellatrix, ones which you do not need to concern yourself with. As for why I am here I am hoping to discuss this mudblood problem you have. Lucius has been wittering enough at me over this whole ordeal."
A fierce growl came from Bella her wolf already close to the surface given how close the moon was and she still felt tension from that kiss she had yet to analyze over. "A word of warning my sister, you do not enter my home and insult my mate without consequence so if I were you, I'd keep your bigoted opinions to yourself if you know what is good for you" she spat, eyes flashing.
"How dare you Bellatrix! I have always been there for you and tried my best to keep you on the right path but you always fight against me. Just think of our heritage! Our ancestors wouldn't think twice about casting you from the family. To think I fought against Lucius' wishes to abandon you with your unfortunate issues."
"Cissa our parents died many years ago, I am the heir to the Black family. I have no one to answer to and other than you and that stupid portrait of Phineas constantly trying to get me to do what's best for the family name! I no longer have any interest in the pureblood ways Cissa. I have taken the beatings, I have lived my childhood in bigoted views that were forced upon me and I have lead most of my life for the family but NO MORE! I am done running from fate! So if you have a problem with this then I bid you goodbye, act as if I do not exist like our other beloved sister!"
Narcissas' mouth hung slightly open in shock from her sisters outburst, she had never been spoken to like this. Yes they had their disagreements in the past but they always stuck to traditions without question. Even though Bella had never married which was always a sore subject amongst their parents growing up. She never did work out how she got out of her prearranged marriage to the Lestrange boy, and why her parents never fought her to marry another. Instead she went into the auror department straight from graduation and it was never brought up again. Of course she was expected to carry out her marriage to Lucius without question. This pretty much happened as soon she became of age, as if they were afraid she'd shame the family further like her other siblings had.
Staring at Bellatrix intensely what had she missed? Could it be that Bella had always felt this way? "What happened with the Lestrange boy? Why did our parents never push you to marry another? Why did they allow you to follow your path into the ministry?" Narcissa demanded as if these these questions would help her understand Bella's unruliness.
"WHAT? What in Morgana's tits does that have to do that anything Naricissa?!" Bella raged.
"Answer me Bella, you started changing around that time I remember it well and so I want to know why!" Narcissa demanded.
"That is non of your concern." Bella said calmly crossing her arms across her chest.
"JUST FUCKING ANSWER ME!" Narcissa screamed.
"Well well well don't you have a potty mouth I never knew you had it in you." Bella smirked. "No, Narcissa I am not going to give you answers for you find reasons to justify keeping me in your life. That is something you must come to on your own, now if you don't mind this conversation is over. I'm sure you can find you way out." Bella turned and walked towards her bathroom. She really needed a shower, needed relief and desperate for hot water to wash the frustrations away.
A few days had passed since Zane had been given the task in finding the source, her Air element allowed her to become completely transparent so getting information was just about night came when her patience finally paid off and she had found the answers she was seeking. When the queen was in power she had a maid that had worked very closely to her, she had died as many had when The Four took over. However she had a husband who survived and he was going round spreading the word of a so called saviour coming to take them from darkness back into the light they once rejoiced in.
Dante had been quickly briefed by Zane and sent word to his warriors to fetch this man, that is why he was now stood infront of a late middle aged man strapped to the chair before him. He watched as the blood dripped down from the mans face, he enjoyed using his fists to start with. Loving the feel of skin breaking beneath his punches "So I've heard you've been spreading word of a saviour around my people, what do you have to say about this?"
The man spat blood at Dante "They'll never be your people!" He hissed.
The room filled with a sinister laughter that made everyone near by shiver in fear. "Oh but they are, you see they became mine when I killed their beautiful queen with my bare hands and they stay mine with their fear." The horrific humour he saw in his own statement glinted like madness in his eyes.
"You may have everyone's fear but she is coming and she will vanish the darkness that has become this place! You will perish, you and your 3 followers, you are nothing compared to her NOTHING!"
Dante backhanded the man across the face so hard he saw a tooth go flying across the room. "What do you know of this 'She'?" The fire within Dante was starting to consume him and he knew it was only a matter of time before he lost control "TELL ME!" He screamed.
Connor came from behind and approached calmly but cautiously, standing beside Dante he said "Would you allow me the honour?" Dante turned to look at Connor, he needed time to calm himself so he gave Connor a nod and moved aside.
"You know what I don't get about you little people? You all have this power at you finger tips and you refuse to anything worth while with it. Think of the potential, an army of elementals. No-one would stop us from leaving this place and taking it all but no you idiots choose to only do the minimum. Such a waste!" Connor shook his head whilst looking towards the man.
"Your elements have taken over. You four only crave power and don't see the repercussions of your actions. We live in darkness! The sun barely shines upon our lands and it is dying because you have messed with the natural law of this land but she will..." the old man never managed to finish his rant as he started to cough up water, his lungs were burning and he felt like he was drowning.
Connor watched the man begin to suffocate using the water within his very body to drown him from the inside, just as he saw the water start to leak from the mans eyes did he stop. The old man spluttered for breath, closing his eyes he felt disorientated from the ordeal as his body hurt, his insides screamed he knew he wouldn't leave this place. He knew he would die here tonight. Just as the thought of death entered his mind he felt pain in his right knee and let out a torturous scream. Opening his eyes he saw a knife handle sticking out from his leg near his knee cap, he knew the blade had gone straight through him most likely through the chair aswell.
"Now we're going to play a game. I'm going to ask you a question and for every unsatisfactory answer I'm going to find a new place for my knives to go. I always loved the idea of a voodoo doll, I remember my grandfather telling me about them once. I forget the reason but it interested me, using a doll to inflict pain upon some one. Well I don't see a doll anywhere so I guess you'll have to be your own pin cushion I'm afraid." Connor smiled maliciously showing his excitement for this game. "First question, Who is she?"
The old mans eyes widened in response to all he had just heard, "I..I..I don't know" he stuttered.
"Wrong answer!" Followed by a knife going through the other leg, another scream was sent echoing around the room. "Who is this saviour?"
Shuddering a release of breath the old man look up at Connor "She was born here, to the queen." A tear fell from the mans eye, he felt ashamed but he just wanted the pain to stop.
Dante brought himself back into view, he grabbed the mans clothing and with his hands and legs bond to the chair and his knees impaled this meant that he was being forced forward, caused the knives to tear into his skin even further. "WHAT DO YOU FUCKING MEAN THE QUEENS? THE QUEEN HAD NO DAUGHTER!" Dante raged.
"She did and she will save us from the you!" The man spat, managing to spit blood at Dante with the force of his words.
Dante was trembling in anger, his blood began to burn, his fingers alight with flame, he held onto to the screaming man. His own flames did not harm him but the man didn't stand a chance. He watched as the mans clothes caught fire under his fingers, he relished in the mans blood curling screams. He held even tighter as the chair set alight, only letting go when the mans screaming had ceased, looking down at the burning pile of flesh and bones where the man had been. He let his flames burn brighter the heat given off was intense but it didn't bother him, when his flames had left nothing but a pile of ash then only did he feel himself calm down.
Turning towards Connor he stated "Tell the others and find out if the dead queen really did give birth to a daughter" before striding from the room.
