The opening theme played as clips of previous shows appeared, including Obi-Wan's final spin of 1000 credits. Next, the contestant turntable turned around to reveal the day's contestants and the host.
[These three players are here to be part of the madness! Here is Good Luck on the Trigger with our host, Alan Tuumen.]
"Thanks, and welcome to our Madness Tournament. Once again, yesterday's game went down to the final spin, so let's hope the excitement continues today," Alan told the audience.
"Now, let's meet the players. We have an ace pilot who hopes to soar to victory today. Here's our 24th seed, Wedge Antilles."
"Thanks, Alan. I love your metaphor, but I just hope it proves true today," Wedge replied.
"This game is so unpredictable anything can happen. Next, we have our 13th seed, one of the top bounty hunters from the Clone Wars era, Cad Bane."
"Although games of chance are too risky for my liking, the possibility of earning credits for doing nothing is too good to turn down," Cad said, briefly doffing his hat.
"Finally, we have our 6th seed. He's rotten to the core—assuming he even has one—Emperor Palpatine."
"Forgive my lack of enthusiasm," Palpatine said. "But I never do well on these game show thingies. But if I get a consolation prize that isn't a measly bottle of eye drops, I'll be happy."
"We'll see what we can do for you. Let's get ready for round one. The computer gave an interesting spin allocation this time: three for Wedge, four for Cad, and five for Palpatine. You want to have as many credits as possible in this round so you can play last in the next one. Watch out for Raffi—he loves to make your life miserable and four Raffis mean an early departure.
"Play in round one is based on least spins and seeding. Wedge, you're first."
"Alright, Alan," Wedge replied. "Let's take advantage of these spins. Stop!"
"Three hundred and a spin. That's a good start."
"Alright. Let's keep going and add to that total. Let's get something a little bigger here. Stop!"
"One fifty. That gives you 450 credits with two more spins."
"I have to go again. These small amounts can be overtaken easily. Let's get more credits or a spin again. Stop."
"Six hundred more. You have 1050 now with one last spin. Play or pass?"
"I may as well take it. I need all the credits we can get. Let's have good luck one more time. Stop!"
"Stop on 700. That's a good finish, Wedge. You have 1750. Next, Cad Ban plays with four spins."
"This looks as easy as taking beads from a padawan. Let's try for the lead here and stop!" Cad called out.
"Three fifty for your first spin. You have three left."
"If Wedge here can work his way up, so can I. Let's see what happens with Big Loot. Bigger is better... Stop!"
"Twelve fifty—one of the highest values on the board."
Cad nodded as the audience cheered.
"You have 1600—just 150 less than Wedge—and you have two spins."
"This really is easy. Let's take the lead here and make my decision easier to make next time. Stop!"
"Go back three spaces to 100 credits. You have 1700 with one spin. You trail Wedge by just 50 credits."
"I wanted to pass, but he may get a big amount again. I guess I'll go again, Alan. Any credit space is good here. I want the lead! Stop!"
"One hundred credits. You did it; you took the lead by 50 credits with a total of 1800. Now, we go over to Palpatine with his five spins."
"Let's hope they didn't save the bad luck for me. I want lots of credits, too. Stop!"
"Two hundred credits to get you on the board. You have four spins left."
"Good. I'll gladly go again. Let's get more credits and avoid those creepy looking vultures. Stop!"
"There's 400 more for you. You have 600 credits now with three spins."
"I need more credits! Let's get something bigger or that curious Big Loot space. Stop!"
"Raffi!"
As Palpatine gave a blood-curdling scream of horror, Raffi appeared and started to drill a hole. As the hole filled up with water and flooded the screen, Raffi disappeared with a glub. A Raffi indicator popped up in front of Palpatine.
"Unfortunately, that wasn't more credits," Alan informed the chancellor. "But, you still have two spins."
"I have to go again, my friend," Palpatine responded. "Alright, let's keep those dreadful creatures away from me now. I want nothing but credits. Stop!"
"One fifty. That puts you back in the game with a spin left. You can try for more or pass to Cad."
"I wouldn't pass it even if Plagueis ordered me to. I'll take it myself. I need Big Loot or a spin here. Either would make me a very happy emperor. Stop!"
"Stop on 800 credits. At the end of round one, Palpatine has 950 and a Raffi. Wedge has 1700. And Cad has 1800 credits and the lead. So, he'll play last right after this quick break."
The audience applauded as the screen faded.
⁂
"Welcome back to Good Luck on the Trigger and our Madness Tournament. We have another exciting game so far, so let's see how it ends," Alan told the audience.
"Let's see who got what spins this round. Wedge has the minimum of two spins. Cad has four and he'll play last. Palpatine, you have five spins again. Because you have the lowest score, you go first this time. We have bigger credits for you this round, but Raffi still lurks and loves to hit at inopportune times."
"Any time is inopportune for me," Palpatine replied. "Just give me the credits I want and need here. Stop!"
"Three fifty. That gives you 1300, 400 behind Wedge for second, with four spins."
"So far so good. Let's go again. I want something to help me move up in the standings. I need all the help I can get now. Stop!"
"Go back one space to 'Choose A Corner.' Your choices are: 650 credits, 250, 1000, or 500."
"One thousand, please!"
"Interesting to hear the emperor say 'please.' That thousand gives you the lead with 2300. You lead Cad by 500 and you still have three spins."
"I need to build my lead, Alan. Let's get even more credits here. I want to keep my top spot. Stop!"
"Three fifty more. That seems to be your favorite spot. You have 2650 now, good for a 850-credit lead. And, you have two spins."
"I need to take this spin. I really need something big here so I can pass. Those vultures scare me. Stop!"
"Stop on 'Choose A Corner' again. This time, you can choose 200 and a spin, Raffi, 700, or another Raffi."
"Would anyone really choose one of those icky birds? I'll take the 700."
"Probably the smart choice, Palpatine. You now have 3350 and a 1550-credit lead."
"I think those things are after me, so I better pass so I don't lose everything again."
"That spin goes to Cad, but he has to wait to take it. Next, we have Wedge with 1700 credits and two spins."
"I have my work cut out for me here. I need Big Loot or an extra spin, but no Raffi. Stop!"
"Fifteen hundred credits!"
The audience loudly cheered the big credit space.
"Wedge, you're just 150 credits behind Palpatine now with your 3200 credits, and you have a spin. Do you want to take it for the lead or pass it?"
"I have so few spins, I have to take this and try for the lead while I have the chance," he replied. "OK, let's get any credit value here. I can use it to spice up my X-Wing. Stop!"
"Two fifty! That gives you the lead for now with 3450 credits. Cad, we now go over to you with 1800 credits. Before you take your four spins, you have a passed spin you must take first. Go for it."
"Let's get something good with this spin and show Palpy here what he missed out on. Stop."
"Stop on 501 credits. That gives you 2301 with four spins. You trail Wedge by 1149."
"Sounds good to me. We can do this one spin at a time. Let's keep getting credits and stop!"
"Six hundred more. You're up to 2901, third place, 549 out of the lead, and three spins."
"I can do this. Let's get more credits here. Six hundred would definitely be good here... Stop."
"Choose A Corner: 200 and a spin, Raffi, 700, or the other Raffi."
"Didn't we see this before?" Cad asked, garnering laughs from the Audience. "I'll take 700 for the lead."
"And it's all yours. You have 3601, giving you a 151-credit lead over Wedge. You have two spins. Will you play or pass?"
"I have to go. The margin is too close for my liking. Let's get more good credits here. I want to win today. Stop!"
"Three thousand credits—the largest amount on the board!"
The audience erupted with applause as Cad pumped his fist.
"Cad, you have 6601 credits—a lead of 3151 over Wedge. You have one spin left."
"Pass it!" Cad quickly told Alan.
"Wedge, the spin is yours. Unfortunately, we don't have a space higher than 3000, so you'll need an additional spin here to stay in the game. Otherwise, Cad advances to the semifinals."
"You heard the guy, board. I need one of your extra spins. I'd be grateful if you gave me one here... Stop!"
"Stop on 750 for a total of 4200. That's not enough though. Our winner is Cad Bane!" Allan exclaimed.
As the theme music played and the board silently updated, the audience cheered and Cad doffed his hat again.
"Wedge, both you and Palpatine played well this game and came close. We do have some parting gifts for you that we hope you like."
"I'm just glad I didn't get more vultures," Palpatine replied. "Maybe my luck is finally changing."
"We're low on time, so let me say Cad advances to the semifinals to play Obi-Wan Kenobi and the winner between Boba Fett, Captain Rex, and Tarkin. Our next semifinal features Chewbacca, Count Dooku and Salacious Crumb. We hope to see you next time on Good Luck on the Trigger. Take care until then."
