Finding and Saving You: Chapter 6

Hi! So here is the next chapter in my story. So obviously I don't own D Gray-man or the characters in it I just own the some of the plot of this story (since I'm using bits and pieces from the manga) and the OCs that I plan on putting in here. So please enjoy my new chapter and tell me what you think!

*~*~*~Lavi's POV~*~*~*

I watched her hurry away from me for the second time in the two days since I've met her. But what surprised me was what she called me. Hani. That was one of my alias from when I was about seven years old. I tried going through my memories from back then but she wasn't in there. Just who was Lana Reid?

*~*~*~Lana's POV~*~*~*

First I went to the bathroom to wash up a bit. I figured my face might be a bit flush from my nightmare and I was right. I put some cold water on my face to get it back to its normal color. Then I headed for the cafeteria. When I got to there I saw that Allen, Lenalee, and Krory were already there. Seeing them calmed me down a bit more so I walked over to Jerry and asked him to make me everything that Allen had and some tea with honey.

Once it was done I walked over to where the others were. I greeted them all with a smile which they all returned. I sat down next to Allen who sat across from Krory and Lenalee and started eating my food. It occurred to me that now would be a good time to talk to Allen.

"Hey Allen…there's been something I wanted to ask you…what happened to your left hand? The last time I saw it, it was still this shade of red."

I paused from my meal and pointed to my own red skin to show him what I meant. I wasn't wearing my bandages because Komui had me take them off so he could examine my innocence. He refused to give them back saying he got rid of them so I had to walk around without anything to cover it. To say it was unnerving was an understatement. But I wasn't going to take any bandages from the infirmary since one I don't think the head nurse would let me and two I didn't want to take away any supplies that could be used for someone who really needs them.

"Ah…well you see… Lenalee, Lavi, Bookman, and I went on this mission to find my master General Cross and guard him."

I interrupted him then, remembering what he had told me about his master and how Allen looked when he talked about him.

"Wait…you willingly went on a mission to find your master? I figured with everything he put you through you would have run for the hills as soon as you heard about the mission."

As I continued to eat my food I saw the sweat drop from his brow and heard him laugh nervously. His tale tell sign that I had been right and that was what he had wanted to do.

"Well you see Lana I didn't really have a choice. They needed Timcampy since he is able to track my master and they needed me since I am his apprentice and I would know what he would do."

"I see."

"So as I was saying we were looking for him since the Earl was searching for the Heart."

Lenalee interrupted him this time.

"Allen, Lana doesn't know about the Heart."

I did but… again… they didn't need to know that since that would raise questions that I just couldn't answer. Lenalee turned to me and continued talking.

"The Heart is the root of all power of innocence and it can turn all innocence into nothing. So it is really important that we find it before the Earl does."

"Okay but how did you guys know that the Earl was looking for the Heart?"

"He...the Earl sent the Noah clan, they're humans with powers and have ashen skin, golden eyes and a stigma on their foreheads. Anyway he sent them along with some akuma to attack one of our Generals. He was the oldest one amongst them. General Yeager. He was suffered multiple fatal wounds and the crucified him. Binding him with his own chains. They took all the innocence he was carrying and his own and destroyed it. it was nine pieces in total. Even on the verge of death, he was singing until he drew his last breath."

"Got it. So you were going to guard the generals since it is likely that one of them is the accommodator of the Heart. I take it that this became top priority and all exorcists were split into groups to look for and guard all of them and you guys got stuck with General Cross right? So then what happened?"

I became so interested in this since I love a good story. By then I had finished my meal and was leisurely drinking my tea with honey. But then I noticed all of them looking at me and blinking in surprise.

"What?"

Allen was the first to recompose himself and answer me.

"Oh nothing. We were just surprised on how fast you figured everything out. Anyways on our search Lavi and I had to go on this side mission."

"Huh? Why?"

Just then a new voice entered the conversation and answered before anyone else could causing me to slightly tense up.

"Well you see the beansprout over there ended up getting himself captured and I had to go and get him…"

"The name is ALLEN baka Lavi and you ended up getting yourself captured as well."

With what happened minutes ago I wasn't ready to face him yet. For all I know I could have given myself away or at least made him more interested in me than I wanted him to be. Because when a bookman was interested in something they would stop at almost nothing to find out everything about whatever it was that caught their attention.

Keeping in mind that I had a part to play I turned to him to smile and greet him like the others had. I had hoped that it would let him know that I was alright after my little scare earlier easing his "worry" (no I did not believe that he was really worried since he was a bookman after all) and stop him from thinking too much about my little mishap with the previous alias of his. From the way he looked at me I knew he missed nothing. Not me tensing up when he came, my fake smile, and probably the fear that was in my eyes when I looked at him.

I'm not sure if it was fortunate or not that he had been the only one to notice my slightly odd behavior. Nor was I sure if it was fortunate or not that only I had noticed the way he looked at me. His eyes spoke volumes. All the things going on in his head and the questions that he wanted to ask. Instead he continued on with the conversation that he had walked in on.

"Anyway General Cross went to this town to return something to a certain baron and told the citizens that if they had any trouble with him that they should look for someone with the exorcist cross to help."

"So if you and Allen were captured I take it that this person was giving them problems."

After I finished saying this I noticed that Krory looked depressed but I couldn't figure out why.

"Haha yep. They said that he was a vampire and he was taking some of the citizens and drinking their blood. It turns out it was Kro-chan and the people that he took were akuma."

Ah...so that's why Krory looked depressed after I made that comment. But something Lavi said caught my attention so I looked at Krory. I caught his attention and raised an eyebrow while smiling and holding back a laugh.

"Kro-chan?"

He looked quite bashful at that with his cheeks dusted a nice shade of pink.

"It's a childish name that Lavi came up with."

"Ah Kro-chan don't be like that."

"Lavi's right and I think Kro-chan is a cute nickname do you mind if I call you that as well?"

I smiled at him hoping that I would reassure him. It seemed like it worked since he smiled back.

"I don't mind Miss Lana."

I pouted at that and everyone seemed to notice. Krory was having a mini freak out since he thought that he had done something wrong. Lenalee was giving me this questioning look since she didn't know what was going on. Lavi was pinching my cheeks and cooing over how adorable I looked (which in turn made me glare at him and pout even more) and Allen was giving me this wary smile since he remembered how childish I can be when something, anything, big or small bothers me.

"Ne Kro-chan…we're friends right?"

He and everyone else looked a little puzzled at my statement. But none the less Krory answered me anyways.

"Of course."

"Then you don't need to call me 'Miss' Lana. Just Lana or some sort of nickname would be fine. Speaking formally is something you do in front of strangers or acquaintances. But I'm neither of those things so it's fine if you're not formal with me okay? That way I know where I stand so when someone asks me, I can say with confidence that we are friends."

With that said they all smiled at each other and started chuckling at my behavior. Krory then directed his smile at me.

"Alright then Lana."

And with that my smile was back on my face.

"Good. Now so what happened next?"

They were all looking at me funny which meant that they forgot what we were talking about. I mentally sighed but decided to remind them since I really wanted to know what happened.

"You guys were on a mission to find General Cross but Allen and Lavi had to go on a side mission and found Krory. So then what happened?"

I could see the little light bulbs in their heads going off as they remembered what we had been talking about.

"Well you see Lana, Allen and I had to fight Kro-chan for a little bit before he became an exorcist and travelled with us to find General Cross."

"What? Why?"

I looked at the three of them waiting for someone to answer me. This time it was Krory.

"Well you see I didn't know that I was an exorcist. I too believed that I was a vampire. A monster. I stayed in my castle ashamed of myself and what I was."

After saying this he looked sad again. And I couldn't blame him. To be afraid of what you are and hating yourself for it was something that no one should have to go through. Least of all alone in a castle surround by villagers who feared and probably hated him for something he couldn't help. I knew the feeling all too well and more than anything I wanted to make him feel better. I just didn't know how.

"I'm sorry you had to go through that Krory. It must have been hard being all alone with nothing but those horrible thoughts floating around in your head."

I was about to say something else but then Krory cut me off.

"I wasn't alone. I had…Eliade."

So what did you guys think? If there are any questions that you have I will try to incorporate the answers into later chapters. Also sorry if its a little boring having to recap everything but I need Lana to get caught up with everyone else. Also can you guys help me think of a nickname for her I'm having a little trouble with it? I would prefer two so that way one can be one that Allen gave her when they were little and one can be from Lavi since that's just something he does. The help would be greatly appreciated!
