The first time he'd ever met Percy Jackson he'd been under cover in this mortal school and this skinny little dark haired boy with green eyes couldn't sit still during the lesson that day. This was a major sign that someone was a demigod. If that wasn't a good sign the fact that the boy's best friend was one of the many Camp Half Blood satyrs was another good sign.
Looking over the glass he caught the satyr's eye, Grover if he remembers correctly, and the satyr makes a subtle nod towards his friend. That was always the sign that a kid in the classroom was a demigod. He watched the fidgeting boy sitting in his class and determined that he'd talk to the boy after the class let out for the day.
The bell rang a few minutes later and Percy Jackson went to stand up from his seat.
"Please stay seated, Mr. Jackson," Chiron said and noticed the boy visibly deflate. "You are not trouble and will be allowed to follow Mr. Underwood in a few minutes time."
"What did I do now?" Percy asked as he fidgeted and tapped the toe of shoe against the leg of his desk. "I can't help not being able to..."
"I know. I was wondering if you would like some extra help with your lessons. I could have Mr. Underwood go over some the points I cover during class. Sometimes it helps to have one of our peers explain things. For some it works better than having a teacher drone on about it." He looked down at the boy with a smile. "What do you say, Percy? Will you give it a try?"
Looking up from the desk Percy smiled and nodded.
"Go and run along then," Chiron told the boy. He knew he'd have to talk Grover into helping out with this but he also knew that the satyr was particularly close to Percy Jackson. So it wouldn't be a problem at all.
I hope you all enjoyed A Student With Promise.
