As Kagome entered the forest of InuYasha, it felt much colder. The forest it's self seemed as though it was crying for help. It surprised Kagome that he hadn't attacked her once she step foot into his domain. The tree branches creaked as the wind blew them and the leaves rattled as well. Her eyes searched, but saw nothing her ears listened, but heard nothing only the wind passing by. Kagome hugged herself as she walked not really sure why she was going this deep into the forest just to find... "InuYasha!" Her eyes fell upon a figure resting against a tree, a ray of light magically shining through the branches, making his silver hair glisten as the wind made it dance. There was no movement from him and suddenly her heart froze with fear. 'Could he be...'

"So you're back I see, come to watch me take my last breath wench?" Kagome gasped hearing him speak. She thought for sure his life had already expired. "Well, why are you here woman!" Even though he looked to be dead his voice was very much alive with anger. Still he didn't move an inch and his eyes remained closed. Slowly she moved closer to get a better look at his face. What she saw made her heart break. "Keh, stop standing there and talk already!"

Her mind was blank, but her body moved on its own. With a shaky hand she reached down and cupped his cheek lovingly. Even though she hated him for what happened that day. Kagome still felt pity for him, he was a living, breathing creature. "I...I'm sorry I did this to you, you may feel like you're only a monster, but you are still a living creature. You deserve some love at least for a brief moment before you die." Even though it was InuYasha who jumped her from behind, Kagome felt a little guilty. After all if she never came into his forest, none of this would've happened. Her eyes now full of tears were greeted buy a tender touch from his clawed hand, carefully wiping them away. She didn't fear his touch and simply left him dry her tears. 'Maybe I was wrong about him, InuYasha maybe a demon, but this side of him is almost human. What should I do this is all so fast, I'm to marry Hojo and I love him. And yet...' His hand left her cheek and her thoughts stopped.

"Why are you crying wench, you have no reason to be sad about my death? After all you'll never be bothered by me again, you'll be able to walk through this forest freely." Even though Kagome still didn't know her feelings towards this being, she still didn't want him to die because of her. She was about to say something when he quieted her. "Someone's close you should go." He's words left her even more scared. Surely if someone found him now they'd kill him, and probably not in a nice way. With his last bit of straight, InuYasha pushed her away from him causing her to fall.

Getting to her feet Kagome was angry at the demon before hiding in a some bushes. Peaking though she could see a man..no not just any man. "Hojo?! Why is he here?" She watched quietly as her future husband came even closer to InuYasha. 'Please let him not see InuYasha, I don't want either one to know.' Still her thoughts could not stop what the fates had planned.

Slowly he stood, using what strength he had left. As the human male approached he growled. 'This man is the one who keeps my mate from me!' InuYasha growled out in his head. His new found energy was that of killing the man keeping him from life and his mate. "Bastard, you are the one who keeps what is mine from me. If I kill you my mate will come to me with out hesitation." He's words caught Hojo off guard until everything came together.

"It was you, wasn't it demon? You cursed my poor Kagome that's why she's different! I knew I'd find my answers here. I'm so stupid, no matter I'll make sure you death is one of great suffering for what you've done to her." The pure rage that showed in Hojo's eyes had Kagome rethinking her feelings. After all a man with anger like that was not someone she desired.

InuYasha only laughed at Hojo's words. In the end Kagome would die too, once the chosen mate is gone the other mate longs for its other half even more. Still InuYasha chose to keep this to himself. "You bastard, you think you can kill me? Then go on try, it should be fun to see if you have the balls to do it." A shot rang out and InuYasha found himself pushed back against the tree he was standing at. Blood seeped on to his robes where the bullet hit, just above his heart. "Not bad human."

It was then Kagome ran out and placed herself between both males. "Both of you stop this! Hojo, you know better then to kill a person, even if he is a demon. Plus he hasn't hurt me in anyway only if saying I'm his mate is worth killing someone over. You know this is considered murder." Looking at Hojo, Kagome could see a range of missed emotions and wondered if he would continue and kill InuYasha. To her surprise he simply grabbed her hand and threw her to the side. The fall was hard knocking some of the air from her lungs. Still she fought to get up and stop Hojo. "I won't let you kill him, if not wanting to see someone die is wrong then I'm guilty. Still you know this wrong and you know you'll end up in jail for this Hojo!"

It happened so fast that what happened next didn't even register to Kagome, until the events were over. After seeing his mate thrown to the ground InuYasha charged Hojo. Still the human fired the rest of his rounds and dodged the demons deadly claws. If not for his weaken state Hojo would've been killed, but for InuYasha he had no more to give. Her body frozen as she stared at the demon who claimed to be her mate, unmoving. She was going to go to him when Hojo once again took her hand. "Now it's time to get you to a hospital or something. I need to fix what that demon did to my future wife."

Once her mind came back to her Kagome screamed out. "INUYASHA!" Tears fell as Hojo kept pulling her along, not allowing her to stop. "Hojo, please stop this isn't like you. I could never take a man who kills as my husband, even if he was a demon. InuYasha was still a living being and you killed him with out mercy." She pulled and tugged to get free, but his grip was to tight. "Please let me go Hojo, you're hurting my arm, just let me explain please!" Still it was no use, the anger Hojo was feeling out weighed his nice side at the moment. And he also wanted to know what happened between that monster and his Kagome.
