Hi guys! Well it has almost been a year so I thought I have left this story untouched for too long. Here is a brand new Chapter! Please let me know what you think, I LOVE COMMENTS!
DISCLAIMER: I do not own Grey's Anatomy if I did I wouldn't be worrying about what colleges is get into.
Meredith had taken the ferry and had walked back to the house. It was odd not having Haven around but, she was glad she knew Haven was safe with Derek. 'Here I go again thinking about Derek I really need to stop I just met him ugh'. Meredith went into the house and took a shower. After she finished she thought this would be the perfect time to review the papers regarding the house that her mother left for her. Meredith sat at her mother's desk and right in front of her were the papers. Growing up Meredith was never allowed in Ellis' office. That was "her" space and it was no place for a troublemaker like Meredith. Meredith began to review the papers and it was the basic legal material you would find in a contract about a house. However, the last page had a name and a number and attached was a note in her mother's handwriting:
Meredith,
I know I was never there for you and this doesn't make up for the years of neglect. But, seeing you with your daughter showed me how extraordinary you did become. I am sorry, for everything. Please call I think it will help.
Ellis Grey.
Meredith felt a tear roll down her cheek. She quickly wiped it off with her hand and thought 'strong people don't cry only the weak do'. Which was one of the many things Ellis Grey taught her while she was growing up. She walked to the kitchen and decided to call the number that her mother had left. When she looked at the name she had heard it before but she did not know where from. The phone rang and she suddenly grew tense. A female answered the phone and frankly Meredith was confused because it was a males name in the note.
"Um, hi. My name is Meredith Grey. My mother Ellis Grey said I would be able to reach a Richard Webber at this number".
The woman replied quickly, "Yes, I am Angela his assistant. I will transfer your call right now". Before Meredith could even say thank you the line was already switched.
"This is Dr. Richard Webber Chief of Seattle Grace Hospital". He sounded intimidating but Meredith could handle him.
"Yes, hi. My name is Meredith Grey my mother Ellis had left me your name and number to call"?
He could clearly tell she was confused as to why she was calling him. 'Classic Ellis' he thought 'she didn't even tell her daughter why she was calling'. "Well, Meredith it is to my understanding you have moved back to Seattle".
"Yes I have".
"Well Meredith I have an opening at Seattle Grace now that your mother has left and would like to offer you a position".
"I don't know what to say Dr. Webber thank you so much. You do know my specialty is not general like my mother though".
"Yes I do your mother mentioned something about your focus being neuro"?
"That is correct sir".
"That is perfect Dr. Grey we have just hired a new neuro attending and I think you would be able to learn a great amount from him".
"That sounds great Dr. Webber".
"Excellent Dr. Grey I will have Angela draw up some papers for you. Can you start tomorrow? Your mother also mentioned you have a daughter. We have an excellent daycare facility that she can attend".
"Yes, if that's the case I can start tomorrow".
"Alright see you tomorrow Dr. Grey".
She hung up the phone and wondered how Derek and Haven were doing.
"Mister Derek I want lots of chocolate mommy always buys me chocolate. She also always gets me cookies, and ice cream, and cake, but mostly ice cream. Her favorite is the pink one".
Derek chuckled, he was amazed about how convincing Haven was trying to be. He continued to push her in the cart down the aisles as he followed the list Meredith had handed him.
"Haven I don't see any of those things on the list here. But if your mommy likes strawberry maybe I can make an exception with that one".
Once Derek and Haven had picked up the dinner groceries they headed back to the ferry. Derek obviously carried most of the groceries while Haven carried the bag with the ice cream. When they got on the ferry they headed to the top and sat on a bench. Derek called Meredith to let her know that they were on the way. Since Derek did not know where they lived she said she would meet them at the ferry.
"Mister Derek have you ever loved someone"? Haven asked.
Derek did not know how to answer, "I thought I was at one time in my life but she wasn't the one for me".
"My daddy never loved my mommy" she said with a sad look in her eye.
"Haven, don't say that. Sometimes people are not meant to be together because there is someone else out there for them" He said unsure if she would understand his response.
"I think my mommy likes you mister Derek. Which is good because I like you too. But, don't tell mommy I said that"
Derek smiled, "I think I like your mommy and you too. But, don't tell your mommy I said that".
Haven smiled and as the ferry began to dock they stood up and Derek made one of his hands free so he could hold hers as they got and Haven looked around for Meredith.
Haven spotted her first, "mommy mommy mister Derek got you a special surprise"!
Derek walked up and gave her a smile.
"Well baby I'm excited for this special surprise. What is it"? Meredith asked as she picked Haven up in her arms.
"Mister Derek said you have to wait until after dinner so you will have to wait mommy".
Meredith looked over at Derek, "Let's start heading to the house so this special surprise won't melt". She winked knowing what was in the bag because when she picked Haven up she felt the cold and wet container inside the bag. Derek had grinned at her.
As they were walking Meredith began to ramble in her own thoughts again, 'Maybe I do like him. Stop Meredith he's just trying to help. He isn't interested in you'.
The three of them walked to the house Meredith carrying Haven and Derek carrying the groceries. Little did Meredith know that Derek was walking next to her mesmerized and was thinking the same crazy thoughts as she was.
