This is a challenge for Mapleclan. It is an elder telling a story to some kits.

Amberkit and Sunkit raced off to the elder's den. They loved to here the stories that Duskfall could tell. Duskfall looked up at the kits when the scampered up to him. "You're here for a story I take it?"

The two kits nodded energeticly. Duskfall sighed. "You're here for my stories so often that I'm running out of stories. Well, I've saved this one for a while, and you two are ready to hear it."

Duskfall cleared his throat. "Well it started with Palefeather, a queen. Palefeather had one kit, Stonekit. He was very handsome, and Palefeather knew that all the she-cats would want to be his mate when he grew up. She wanted the perfect mate for him, so she waited for him to become a warrior, Stonemask, and she got a little more in his life then he would want. Palefeather was correct, and a lot of the she-cats loved Stonemask."

Duskfall stopped, thinking about what came next. "Well Stonemask only loved one she cat, and that was Swampflower. His mother didn't approve of that, so kept him away from her whenever. Palefeather watched all the she-cats, and believed that Featherdrop was the only cat for Stonemask. She did all in her power to get Stonemask close to Featherdrop."

"What was Featherdrop like?" Sunkit interrupted.

"She was very pretty, and loyal, but weak. Stonemask loved Swampflower because she was pretty and strong. She was the perfect warrior to him." Duskfall replied.

Duskfall continue. "Now where was I? Ah yes. Featherdrop did love Stonemask, but she knew he would never choose her over Swampflower. She stopped trying. This made Palefeather angry, because she didn't want Stonemask with Swampflower. Palefeather did the only thing she could; she invited Swampflower to go hunting. Featherdrop followed them, for she thought something was wrong. She was correct; when Palefeather and Swampflower were well out of the camp, she turned on Swampflower. 'This will keep you away from my son!' She growled to Swampflower. Featherdrop gasped as Palefeather leapt on Swampflower. She knew she had to do something, so she jumped out and knocked off Palefeather."

"Go Featherdrop! Save Swampflower!" Amberkit shouted. He then realized he interrupted the story. "Sorry, go on please."

Duskfall nodded. "Palefeather growled at Featherdrop. 'Don't you want to be with Stonemask?' She asked. 'I will only, if he wants to be with me, not if you force him!' She hissed. Palefeather shook her head. 'If I can't be incharge of my son's future, I'm leaving.' And she bounded off. After that, Swampflower and Featherdrop became best friends. Swampflower became Stonemask's mate. Featherdrop still had feelings for Stonemask, but dropped them when she became mates with a tome who confessed his feelings for her, Nightfang. Where Palefeather is now, I can't say though. Well, there's your story. Now let me sleep."

The kit nod, then pad out of the den. Amberkit's eyes glittered in the sun. "That was one his best stories."

Sunkit laughed. "You know they aren't real right?"

"Who says they aren't?" Featherstar pads up to them. "I listened to the story. I think you need to realize that Duskfall always tells the truth."

Sunkit stares at Featherstar. "But, then are you-?"

Featherstar chuckles and winks at them before walking away.
