AnimeKiwi369: Eh, I'm not in the mood tonight for a co-host and having to come up with conversations, so I'm doing this solo tonight. Eight reviews for the last chapter isn't too bad, though I think I'll go ahead and start giving previews for the chapters. And I'll probably eventually go back to asking for a certain number of reviews.

Thanks for reviewing go to: Rapis-Razuri, Swiftflame, MorningTime4, jesselover33, and our four anonymous reviewers, PDS, Guest, Emmanuel, and Flaming Girl.

I hope all the CopperxLane fans out there enjoy the first part of the chapter. It has some sweetness between the two. However, some foreshadow in it.

I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's or its characters. I just own the storyline and my OCs.

Enjoy Chapter 5: Imagining Things.

Chapter 5

Imagining Things

Copper didn't even know she was finally asleep. That was until her bedroom was filled with late-morning sunlight, bugging her eyes enough to open them. She groaned. She was still extremely tired. She last remembered seeing the clock say something around five in the morning. She put her pillow over her head, trying to force herself back to sleep. Though that didn't help at all.

She rolled on her back but didn't open her eyes. She was not going to get up until she was ready. And that was not until two options opened up. Actually three options. The first option was she would get up if she finally got some sleep and then woke up with that fresh feeling. The second option was to wait until she got hungry, since when she got hungry, she really couldn't wait; good thing she ate healthy and had a fast metabolism.

And the dreaded third option was if she was forced to get up from either her father's strange methods or her mother's method forcing her out of bed with Rose Tentacles. There were some things her mother was not afraid to use her powers on. Mainly when getting the dark-haired psychic out of bed. Akiza could definitely be threatening at times.

She groaned again. She'd have to get up sooner or later. But what exactly was she going to do today?

If it was going to a normal routine, she'd get up and take a warm shower first. Then she'd spend about twenty minutes trying to get her hair to work with her after dressing in something that wouldn't be too hot in the weather. After that she'd go downstairs and fix breakfast, or brunch depending on the time, and then clean up the dishes and brush her teeth. And lastly, she would leave a note and go out to see Lane or John or Raven if her boyfriend wasn't up to visitors or already had visitors.

But if it was a dance practice day, she'd do all of that except see her friends and go straight to practice after only eating some toast or something else light, so she didn't have to brush. And she would dress in her normal practice clothing. However she would definitely wear something over it since it wasn't exactly protective when she was on her runner.

The psychic remembered what day it was. It was the day of the banquet! So she had a different routine for the day. She'd probably get up, make breakfast, eat, clean the dishes, and brush her teeth. Then she'd get dressed and see either Lane or their other friends. When it would come to be about three, she'd return home, and take her shower. And then Copper would probably spend half an hour deciding which of her few dresses to wear, along with her shoes. Lastly, she would mess with her hair for a good forty-five minutes.

There was a light pounding sound from downstairs, followed by the rather annoying sound (at least to her because she was tired) of the doorbell. The double-Marked Signer groaned. Well, at least she knew she was home alone, since her parents and Nan locked the doors. And obviously her brother couldn't be left alone from his mother since he was just a couple months old, and Akiza took him to work with her since she was still nursing. But who could it be? Usually her friends just let themselves in with the spare key that they knew of…

Grudgingly, she sat up and swung her legs over the bed. Her eyes weren't really open as she stood and moved through the house. She knew the house like the back of her hand as she passed through the hall and down the stairs, even though she did bump into the table. There was another ring from the doorbell.

"I'm coming, I'm coming," she said through a yawn to wake herself. "Hold your horses."

She unlocked and opened the door, her eyes still not open as she yawned again, and not seeing who it was. She found herself getting pulled towards someone, making her wide awake, thinking it was a kidnapper. But instead, she found herself crushed into a tight hug against Lane's chest. She was not expecting this. He wasn't even supposed to be out of the hospital until the later that day!

"Hello, sleepyhead," he greeted playfully.

"You…! How…? Why…? Am I…? What?" She finally asked confused.

"How am I here if I'm not supposed to get out until this afternoon? And why am I here instead of at home? Are you dreaming? Those were what you were gonna ask, huh?" He inquired; she nodded. "Well, to answer those questions. I was recovering so well, they let me out last night. And I wanted to come here and see you. So you're not dreaming."

"Really?" She asked.

He merely nodded, "Yeah. I do have to take it easy, can't have any solid food, but I can have semi-solid food, and my mom's picking me up at three forty-five so I can go home and get ready for the banquet." He told her, "Oh, and since my mom dropped me off on her way to the photo shoot, I don't have my runner, but I couldn't drive anyway. So you're stuck with me since neither of us can drive without an adult in the car during daylight hours. And your parents know I'm here because my mom called them to see if it was all right for me to come over."

Copper giggled a little and pulled her boyfriend inside, closing the doors behind him, "I don't mind being stuck with you. Just stop babbling."

"Deal," he agreed. "Just tell me: why are you so tired?"

"I didn't get much sleep last night," she responded. He tilted his head to the side, asking her to continue with his eyes, "I just kept waking up and falling asleep. And waking up again. I just woke up again."

He nodded, "So I take it you haven't eaten."

"You would be correct," she replied, going into the kitchen with Lane behind her. "Do you want anything to drink? I could blend up a smoothie if you want?"

"You would do that for little old me?" He asked her, wrapping his arms around her from behind.

"Yes," she replied sweetly, looking up at him through her eye lashes. "I wanted to make on for myself anyway. I've been in the mood for a strawberry-banana smoothie with breakfast lately. But I'll make a different kind just for you." She told him with wink.

"Sometimes, I think you're too good for me," the ice-blue-haired teen commented, sitting down at the table in the large kitchen.

She just smiled and started to get out the blender and other ingredients, "What kind do you want?"

"Do you have any blueberries?" He inquired and his girlfriend nodded, "Could I have a blueberry-banana?"

The psychic came over on him and lightly pressed her lips on his cheek, "Sure."

Copper moved away from him and started to move around the kitchen, making her breakfast along with the drink for her boyfriend before hers. It was easy to make as she made sure to blend the drink's ingredients as thoroughly as possible. There was a little bit of small talk between them, but not much between them since the psychic concentrated on her breakfast.

She poured the first cold, blended drink into one of the clean, frosted glasses that was in the freezer, designated for such occasions. She turned to give it to the blue-eyed boy. But she saw something strange as she gazed over at him. And it was unnatural. Though he smiled softly with that unfairly sweet smile at her, his eyes were dark. They were like they were in the dream, causing her to almost drop the glass. The glass came hard on the table surface, making the smoothie splash a little on the tabletop, as she started to shake.

Lane kept the glass from falling over as it tipped slightly. He looked curiously at her. She looked like she had just seeing a ghost or something. She was shaking slightly. He watched her intently as she turned away to get paper towels. She still looked like she was scared or something as she cleaned the table of the sticky substance. She was trembling by the time she went back over to the cutting board to cut the strawberries she got out for her smoothie.

Concerned, he got up and went over to her. She seemed to just keep trembling. And she seemed in a trance almost. He watched her hands mostly because of how shaky she was becoming. The psychic wasn't really aware of her actions as she cut the strawberries for her own drink. She didn't even register the other teen coming over to her. She felt a sting on her finger, followed by the blue-eyed boy's hand gripping her wrist tightly as his other grabbed the knife out of her hand.

She looked over at him, slightly afraid to see his eyes. But she didn't see black scleras. She just saw the normal white. A confused look came on her face. What had she seen before? Had it just been her imagination? It had to be. Her boyfriend's grip lessened as he looked her straight in the eyes softly with concern. Copper felt the slight pain in her finger and looked to see it was bleeding. That was why the eldest Kessler child stopped her. She had cut herself on accident in her trance-like state.

"Oh, dang it," She muttered.

"I'll go get a bandage," he commented. "You just clean that."

The dark-haired girl nodded and ran her hand under warm water as the other teen left for the bandage. She sighed. What had she seen? Why had she seen that? Why did her imagination run wild like that? She was probably just a bit paranoid from those dreams. She had just let those dreams involving her boyfriend being a Dark Signer get to her when she least expected it. It was nothing but her imagination.

The ice-blue-haired boy came back as she dried her hand. He took her hand and placed the bandage on her injured finger. She blushed a little at his actions. He looked at her with concern again. He looked so cute with that look in his eyes. He took both of her hands in his and looked her in the eyes. He pulled her closer to him. She blushed again a little. She still felt a bit nervous still from what she saw.

"You should be more careful, C," he commented.

"Yeah," she agreed. "Sorry. I just saw something that kinda scared me a little."

"What?" He inquired, bringing his head closer to hers.

"Oh, it was just something I saw," she replied slightly cryptic, "It's nothing, Lane."

"Please tell me," he said with an adorably pleading look in his eyes. She caved in two seconds

"I just thought I saw your eyes with black scleras," she sighed, "I hate when you give me that look."

"I know you actually don't," he responded with a slight grin. It faded though, "And do you mean like Dark Signer eyes?" She nodded slightly, "I promised you last summer I would never be a Dark Signer if it ever became possible."

"I know," she sighed again. "Those dreams I had last night just have me a little freaked out."

"They were just dreams," he reassured.

"All right," she responded, hugging him tightly. She felt him reciprocate and put his arms around her lightly, "I think I should be asking what you did earlier. Sometimes I think you're too good for me."

A Little While Later

After the late breakfast, Copper had cleaned up the dishes and dressed. Now it was about twelve-fifteen and they were lying on the couch. The slightly elder of the two was on the couch on his back, dozing, with his head resting on the arm of the couch. He was stretched out, with his legs almost reaching the other end of the long couch. The psychic was also lying on her back a bit, but was mostly resting against her boyfriend with her legs curled under her, dozing more. Her boyfriend's arms were wrapped around her slightly.

Her mind was wandering back towards the dreams she had had last night. They were still freaking her out. She was trying to forget the dark scleras in the blue-eyed boy's eyes earlier. Surely she was just imagining things. It was the only logical explanation. Besides, like he had pointed out earlier, how could he ever be a Dark Signer? It was impossible.

She sighed as she felt the ice-blue-haired boy play with the braid that was hanging over her left shoulder. She moved her right hand and arm slightly to entwine her fingers with his. As their fingers intertwined together, though, her arm throbbed. She opened her eyes and glanced at her arm. It was glowing sharply. But her arm wasn't the only one glowing.

Lane's right arm was glowing purple in the shape of the Giant Dark Signer Mark. Her eyes widened and she started to shake again slightly. She couldn't stop staring at his arm. The psychic sat up, catching his attention. He lazily opened his eyes and sat up. He didn't seem to notice anything. The dark-haired girl blinked twice. The glow was gone. The Dark Signer Mark was gone.

Her imagination tricked her again.

"Something wrong?" The ice-blue-haired boy asked.

She shook her head, "No." She lied, rather convincingly. She leaned against him, "I'm fine."

"If you say so," the blue-eyed boy replied, lying back on the couch again.

She lied against him again, continuing to look at his arm. Copper was confused and a bit frightened. Why was she seeing things? Why was her imagination running so wild? Those dreams were making her jumpy. They were making her see things. She was just imagining things. And they were scaring her. The more and more she focused on the dreams, the more she started to think the inevitable.

The more she thought of the dreams and what she saw, the more she started to believe those weren't just dreams.

Coming Up in "Second War":

"I see her. Arlene is here."

"But how?"

"What do you want?"

"It's none of your business, Fudo. I want to dance with Lane, like I know he wants to."

"Those aren't a tattoo. Those are genuine Signer Marks. I was there when she got those."

"Sure you were. But you don't need to pretend with me. I know those are fake, but if you say they're real, I'll believe you, Lane. So what do you say, Laney? Why don't you dance with a real woman like me instead of that slut."

"Listen here, Arlene!"

"Copper!"

"Copper?"

Next Time—Chapter 6: Fright and Comfort

AnimeKiwi369: Hopefully this preview has you wondering. I know it would have me wondering, but I already know what's going to happen. ;)

Personally, I have no idea when I'll be able to update. Tech Week for my school play starts tomorrow and next weekend is the play, and I'll probably be swamped with getting homework done and getting through rehearsal without dropping dead of exhaustion. Or at least in a coma.

So I'll try to update when I can. Reviews are much appreci—

Copper: Hey! Is an updating going on? AnimeKi—

AnimeKiwi369: Reviews are much appreciated! Please be kind and please review! :]

Copper: Please include me next time.

AnimeKiwi369: I will.
