She heard calling and Soujirou's voice in her head, a group telepathy call. She could barely distinguish meanings as her strength waned away. One part of her felt relieved that only her life would be taken, a small cost for her. But... She felt annoyed and weak. She didn't help at all and it frustrated her that she couldn't protect Soujirou like she wanted.
Just after a single tear rolled down her cheek, her body evaporated into bubbles flying off into the sky and towards the cathedral. Soujirou watched in horror, he couldn't protect her either. He felt a flurry of emotion as he stared Magus down; who shrivelled under his harsh glare.
Nazuna and the others felt the cold chill from Souji, it was unpleasant but they knew him. He won't forgive anyone who hurts a friend.
She woke in the cathedral like the other men that were killed. While their eyes displayed anger and irritation, hers were only sad and empty. She left quickly and instead of going to her own guild, she visited another; the Crescent Moon Alliance.
"Can you hide me here for a while?" She requested of the guild master Marielle, who she'd only met once or twice and barely knew. In spite of their thin acquaintance, she accepted and offered a room for her to occupy and do whatever she was going to do...
So for the next few days, she was holed up in that room doing nothing but procrastinating and crying to herself... She even forgot to eat.
"Sayuri-san? You haven't eaten a thing since you've arrived!" A voice she recognised to be Henrietta's called out from the door. But she was so invested in her 'peace and enlightenment' she couldn't speak even if she wanted to, since she was shrivelled up in the corner cursing herself.
After hearing no answer, she sighed and left the food outside before creeping off to find Akatsuki. Not a minute passed and another knock sounded at the door before it opened. Sayuri's back was facing the door so she didn't know exactly who was there, but the heavy clunking of armour and the gentle sound of glasses being pushed up told her all she needed to know. That and the heavy lump of metal was trying to hold in laughter.
"What are you doing? Sayuri?" Shiroe asked, also amused at the sorry state. She was sat in a pitch black room, in the corner, hunched up like a cockroach...
She let out a long breath but didn't turn around or open her eyes, "I'm meditating." -was what she came up with as an extremely obvious lie, even her voice sounded raw and pained. Of course, however, the tin man had no delicacy when it came to tormented girls.
"Like this?" Naotsugu asked holding in his laughter, a small hum was all he got. She looked over her shoulder, her red eyes glowing in the darkness. Her now-visible tail was drooped down and swaying slowly, her ears were flattened so much it looked like her own hair. She sniffed and turned around again before jolting up and sniffing the air. Shiroe looked fairly uncomfortable to be in a difficult situation such as a depressed teenager, but smiled nevertheless.
"Are you...?" -"I smell curry..." She whispered after Shiroe tried to speak.
They all sweatdropped, her nose was something else; forgetting the real picture.
Finally hitting a realisation, her tail disappearing, she asked with her usual smile, it was kinda disappointing considering her eyes were redder than apples, "Where's the Chief? I have a present for him."
"Chief Nyanta? A present? What is it, a scratching post?" Naotsugu joked, though he got a bad look from Akatsuki who'd just entered the room stealthily after walking by and seeing her Master.
"It's some ingredient items." At her response, for some reason all eyes widened, "What?"
"But the food doesn't have taste you know?" Shiroe reminded her, though he was acting fishy so she could see something was up, she gave him an unbelieving stare really obviously to tell him she didn't buy a word he just said. He sweatdropped and told her he was in the kitchen.
Before she left, she said, "I'm not stupid, I know that the Chief's a cook."
Shiroe just let out a dry chuckle and Naotsugu grinned, they both exited and began to walk down the corridor with Akatsuki following behind. She looked confused again. "Who was that Master?"
He ceased walking away to turn and look at Akatsuki who just seemed to appear at his side, Naotsugu looked around Shiroe to see Akatsuki, "She was a member of the Debauchery Tea Party too, she's in the West Wind Brigade. She seems kinda stupid, but she's actually incredibly bright." He explained, with Naotsugu adding in,
"But she's an idiot when around the guy running her guild, actually she's always an idiot... She's just smart..." Akatsuki stared incredulously at the actual idiot;
"I think you're the idiot Bakatsugu."
"Chief! I have ingredients for you from Nakasu!~" She grinned while skipping into the kitchen, he didn't seem all too surprised to see her and accepted the ingredients from her, not worried at all about her spreading the secret of flavour. He also refrained from asking about her sore eyes and tear streaks...
"Thank you, Sayuricchi, tonight is curr-" His words were cut off by the drooling expression of Sayuri's "I know~". He chuckled and got back to his cooking which she watched for a while before she walked away and eventually wound up daydreaming about curry on a sofa somewhere. Sure, curry wasn't her favourite food or anything but Nyanta's curry...
Surprisingly enough, her favourite food is crackers.
When she woke up again, she was in a room with Marielle, Henrietta, Shouryuu, and Shiroe. She guessed they'd just finished talking, she was getting up when she noticed something.
"Shiro-senpai, you've made a guild?"
Her sudden speech alarmed the others to her awakening, the said man turned to her and nodded with a calm smile, "I'm glad..." She smiled for a second and spoke again, "By the way what's going on?"
They looked at each other for a moment before, "We're planning on collecting money." Henrietta briefly explained, trying not to reveal too much, Sayuri knew they were hiding most of the details but didn't pry, she wasn't all that interested.
"Okay, well I should get back to my own guild soon... After the curry." She yawned, grinning at those in the room, "Thank you for the hospitality. If you need help with that money then I'll be happy to help." She bowed and left with the usual shy-cross-placid expression she wore.
As she walked through the halls of the guild building, she thought about how she was supposed to present herself to her guild... So she decided on bringing an apology gift and wearing ceremonial clothing.
Of the Harakiri kind.
After her curry of course. It was served up in this large room and Sayuri didn't even question why it tasted nice, she was too busy getting seconds.
"See, told ya; she's an idiot." Naotsugu pointed out to Akatsuki, gesturing to Sayuri with his spoon, "She knew about the flavour but she didn't at the same time."
Akatsuki deadpanned at him, thinking he was seriously an idiot. Then at Sayuri, she was conflicted about that.
Unfortunately a lot of what she wanted to buy was hard to find, considering the lack of shops, so she had to pay a tailor to make one and scour the streets for a poem anthology. Very Samurai like, who wants a poem anthology for an apology? She didn't think about anyone else, she really only bought it because she wanted it. While she was trudging through the streets for a day attaining all of her apologies, elsewhere three companions were meeting up to discuss a plan.
"Oh, Shiro-senpai have you seen Sayuri?" Soujirou asked after having heard all of what Shiroe had to say, Nyanta looked at Shiroe who contemplated over his answer before replying he had, and also,
"She was... letting off steam.. for a while in Marie-san's guild, do you know why?" He was curious from the moment he'd heard about her being there. Soujirou's face seemed to sadden but he held onto his -cute- smile.
"When we were fighting against the PK'ers, she jumped in and prevented me from getting killed; a long story, but because of that, she ended up dying instead... So she's feeling guilty I'd bet, that she wasn't anymore help." He explained solemnly, he knew her the best and yet sometimes he thought she was too much, she over thought things that didn't matter, and most of all she cares not about her own well being, "She's too gentle for her own good!~ She doesn't care about herself in the slightest, but she's better than before."
Shiroe and Nyanta's eyes widened at the new information, they'd known her for a while during the Tea Party and thinking that the shy girl in front of the mic would end up -not only living up to expectation- but dying because of it... Everyone was taken to her back then and never let her sacrifice herself. It was rare that anyone, except that elf, would be mean or insult her. She was fragile when she arrived, and her desires were innocent. They too knew about the relationship between the two Samurai, and were aware that they were close in real life too. Shiroe was already jealous of the giant harem backing Soujirou.
"I see... So she died again?" He didn't know what to say afterwards, so all that came out was the obvious question words. Nyanta's eyes returned to slits as he shut them, his calm expression returning, "Sayuricchi has quite the past ~nya." In response, Soujirou nodded with a -adorable- smile, his usual demeanour returning.
"She's just too kind."
Shiroe had to agree, during the time she was in the Tea Party, she was constantly apologising, giving up drops, constantly anxious yet extremely good at the game; Kanami was quite fond of her and would give her phantasmal level items that suited her playing. There were quite a few members that looked after her, even though she was like a demon in battle, like when she'd give up an item she'd found if someone else wanted it. She was easily manipulated, in other words.
Everything she does, is for other people. The only time she fulfils what she wants, is when she's told she can.
Or, when she's with Soujirou.
