So yeah, I am back with a new chapter. Sorry for the delay, I was going through an addiction problem. It's hard to stop doing it, but it was just so good. Freedom Wars is so addicting! Anyway, sit back while I go and fight that bitchy octopus robot again.

Chapter 5: Orientation

"So tomorrow, we're going to the academy," Danny said as he looked at his friends. "You guys excited?"

"Yeah, dattebayo!" Naruto exclaimed with a grin. "We finally get to be shinobi!"

"Actually, we're training to be shinobi," Dani corrected him. "And tomorrow's just orientation."

"It's the same," Naruto said. The group of friends were currently resting in the playground after a hard morning of training. "I wonder what we're going to learn. I hope we get to see some cool jutsus!"

"I don't think w-we will," Hinata said. After the training she had with her family, she was gaining a lot of confidence. Though that confidence would diminish a bit whenever Danny's talking. "Neji-niisan started last year, and he said it's a-all about academics this year."

"So we have to wait next year?" Naruto groaned. "I hate books."

"At least we're already getting training," Danny said, trying to comfort his blond friend. "Hey, how's that Fuinjutsu training, you guys?"

Naruto perked up as he started explaining about Fuinjutsu, so did Naruko. Ever since he got that book from Jikan and Jazz, Naruto has been soaking Fuinjutsu like a sponge. It was like his brain was made for it. It took him three days to finish to the book, which would take an average adult three months to get through the first chapter. And with Jiraiya's help, he was learning even more. Naruko also had a knack of it, but wasn't as good as Naruto.

Speaking of Jiraiya, he was in the Hokage's office, ready to leave.

"Well sensei, it's time for me to go," Jiraiya said with a small smile as he stared at the old Hokage.

"It's been great having you back, Jiraiya-kun," Sandaime said with a smile. "Be careful out there."

"No promises, sensei," Jiraiya said as he walked towards the window. "And keep an eye on Naruto and Naruko for me."

Hiruzen nodded as Jiraiya leaped off the window. He looked at the window before placing his pipe into his mouth, using a small Katon Jutsu to light it up. It's been a month since Jiraiya came and he saw how Naruto had become livelier and smiling a lot. Seeing him with Naruko and other children gave a smile to his wrinkly face.

He puffed out some smoke as he thought what would happen tomorrow. Since it was orientation, he and the other shinobi will be evaluating the village's future shinobi and see if they have what it takes to be a shinobi.

"Only time will tell," Hiruzen muttered, saying something Jikan would say.

Back with the kids, Naruto and Naruko were still talking about Seals. Shikamaru was sleeping while the others glared at Danny, who gave them a sheepish smile. How would he know asking a simple question would lead to a long lecture?

The Next Day…

Danny was sleeping comfortably in his futon, drooling in his pillow when the lights were turn on. His eyes fluttered as he saw the light through his eyelids.

"Danny, time to get up," Jazz said, shaking the boy's shoulder.

"Hm…five more minutes…" Danny said as he covered himself with the blanket.

"Okay," Jazz said with a smile as she stood up. "Guess you want to skip Orientation day at the Academy."

Danny immediately stood from his bed and dashed out the room before Jazz could react. She sighed before she turned to the futon.

"You could at least fix your futon," Jazz called as she tidy it up.

"Can't, too excited!"

She shook her head, but smiled nonetheless. Since she never get to went to some Academy, she was happy that her little siblings would experience it. They might even make more new friends.

Once they had breakfast, the entire group went to the academy. Danny and Dani were chatting happily, excited about the orientation. From what Jikan told them, the new students get to show how skilled they are, to see if they can handle the Academy.

On the way, they ran into Hinata, who was with her sister, parents, cousin and uncle. She greeted them happily since she was nervous about orientation.

"I'm so excited," Danny said to Dani and Hinata. "We're going to learn on how to be shinobi."

"And kunoichi," Dani added.

"I'm a l-l-little nervous," Hinata admitted, pushing her fingers together. "I might…mess up during orientation."

"Don't worry, you'll do fine," Dani said with a smile.

"Yeah," Danny said with a nod. "Especially with your new Gentle Fist style. Why is it called the 'Gentle Fist' anyway? That style is anything but gentle."

Hinata giggled at that. Last month, her parents noticed how she was struggling with the Gentle Fist's standard stance. Seeing how stiff she was when doing the stances and moves, Hitomi decided to teach Hinata her style of the Gentle Fist, which were more flowing and requires more flexible.

It turns out, Hinata was more suited for Hitomi's style than the standard one. She even managed to defeat Danny in a friendly spar.

"Orientation isn't hard," Neji said calmly. "Just do what you can."

"What did you do last year?" Danny asked Neji, looking at the older boy.

"A race, weapons throwing and a spar," Neji replied.

"Sounds fun," Dani said as they encountered Naruto, Naruko and Sam who was with Tsunade and Shizune, who was carrying a pig.

"Guys!" Naruto greeted as he and Naruko waved at them. "Are you excited about today?"

The big group walked towards the Academy, chatting as they walked. Since it was kinda early, some stores were still closed and a few civilians were awake. The civilians they passed by tried to not glare at Naruto, due to the people he was around with, so they just ignored him.

The kids were unaware of it, but the older ones were, since they were giving those civilians bad looks, causing them to quickly wake away.

They finally arrived in the Academy, which was packed with kids, parents and shinobi. After wishing them luck, the kids made their way towards the new students. They spotted Shikamaru, Choji and Ino, who was waving at them. They made their way towards them with Naruto leading.

Suddenly, Naruto bumped into someone and fell to the ground.

"Hey, watch it loser!" a voice exclaimed. Naruto looked and saw a boy about his age with wild black hair, narrow eyes and red triangles on his cheeks.

"You watch it! You bump into me!" Naruto exclaimed angrily.

The boy just sneered before walking away. Naruto was about to run to the jerk, but was stopped by Dani, who put a hand on his shoulder.

"It's not worth it, Naruto-kun," she said soothingly.

"Besides, he kinda smelled," Danny said as he pinched his nose.

Naruto grinned at that before they made their way towards their friends. They chatted a bit before the Chunin instructors hushed them to be quiet since the Hokage was walking in front of them.

The old man stared at the crowd of children in front of him, the eager looks on their faces. He mentally sighed, seeing that he needed to destroy their childish beliefs. Being a shinobi of the village isn't fun and games, and they need to learn that while they were young.

"Greetings," he said as he flashed a grandfatherly smile to the kids. "I am happy to see new faces that will become the pride of our village. In this Academy, you will be trained in the ways of the shinobi and kunoichi. For six years, you will learn and memorize what your instructor teaches you. Also, this batch will be the first to experience the new program to its fullest. Without further ado, let the orientation begin!"

The students cheered before the instructors led the large group to the back of the school. There seems to be a hundred kids, so the instructors decided to split the large group by their class to make the first event faster. To Danny's relief, his friends were in the same class, he also noticed a couple of people, like the boy wearing large sunglasses dress in a thick jacket, that black haired girl with black hair and eyes dress in a pair of spats and a black shirt and a brown haired girl with a pale complexion dress in a lilac yukata.

The children quieted down when a brown skinned man with a scar on his nose and a pineapple-shape head walked towards them, carrying a clipboard. He was dressed in a standard black pants, black shirt, black gloves with metal plating, dark blue sandals and a green vest. On his head was his hitai-ate with the Leaf symbol engraved on the metal.

"Good morning, children," Iruka said with a smile. "I'm Iruka Umino and I'll be your advisor and instructor for the coming seven years. Now, for the first test, we will start with a simple race. You will run around the school as fast as you can, simple as that. The boys will start first, so girls go and sit on the side. Boys, stand right here."

Dani, Hinata, Ino, Sam and Naruko wished the boys good luck as they went to sit on the sidelines. Shikamaru sighed as Naruto pushed him towards the starting line, with Danny and Choji behind them. There, they met the rude kid who bumped into Naruto, who had an arrogant smirk on his face.

"Heh, this will be a piece of cake," he said arrogantly.

"Hn," a boy with black eyes and hair styled like a duck's butt said with an uninterested look. "This is just a waste of my time. These people will lose to an Uchiha elite."

Danny heard him and narrowed his eyes, but decided to ignore him. He heard of the Uchiha Clan from Jikan, and thought that they might be a great clan, with a little superiority complex. From what he saw from this guy, he was too prideful.

All the boys got into position as Iruka readied the special stop watch that used chakra. When he said the signal, the boys were off. The two black haired boys were running with everything they got, but they were shocked to see that they were being outrun by Naruto and Danny.

"What the hell!?" the feral looking boy exclaimed in shock as the two friends got farther away.

"This can't be happening," duck hair boy said as he tried to catch up, but they were too fast.

Naruto was in the lead with Danny behind him. Shikamaru was in the back of the group with Choji next to him, the two were not really the fast type.

Feral Boy and Duck Hair were running as fast as they can when Feral Boy suddenly tripped on his feet, taking the Uchiha with him. The boys behind them were surprised and didn't get out the way, causing them to trip and pile over the two and they all got tangled up. The only people who avoided it were Choji, Shikamaru and the boy with sunglasses.

By the time the piled up boys managed to untangle their limbs, the race was finished by Naruto, Danny, the boy with sunglasses, Choji and Shikamaru. The boys who trip managed to finish the race, with the Feral Boy in last place and the Uchiha in second to last.

"Here are the results!" Iruka exclaimed, getting their attention. He wrote the results in the board and everyone saw their time and place.

1st- Naruto Uzumaki_.59 minutes

2nd- Danny Phantom_1.0 minutes

3rd- Shino Aburame_ 2.0 minutes

4th- Choji Akimichi_ 5.10 minutes

5th- Shikamaru Nara_ 5.15 minutes

11th- Sasuke Uchiha_ 12.0 minutes

12th- Kiba Inazuka_12.05 minutes

Sasuke angrily looked at the board. He glared at Kiba, thinking that it was his fault that an elite was him was in such an embarrassing situation. He stomped towards Iruka, who was checking on his clipboard.

"I demand a redo," Sasuke said arrogantly. "It was that loser's fault I trip."

"Sorry, but no redo," Iruka said, not liking the attitude Sasuke was showing. "You can just try again in the next event."

Sasuke didn't look like he would agree, but Iruka called the girls before he could complain about it. He just grumbled about it before walking away angrily.

"You sure are fast, Naruto," Danny commented with a grin. "What's your secret?"

"I…have a lot of practice," Naruto replied nervously.

Soon, the girls were in the starting line and the boys were cheering for their names. When Iruka gave the signal, they were off. Naruko was in first place followed by Dani and the black haired girl. Hinata was fourth and Ino was fifth. In last place was the brown haired girl, with a girl with a large forehead and pink hair in front of her.

Once they were done, Iruka wrote the results on the board. The girls gathered and saw how they did.

1st- Naruko Uzumaki_0.57 minutes

2nd- Dani Phantom_1.01 minutes

3rd- Satsuki Uchiha_1.05 minutes

4th- Hinata Hyuuga_1.07 minutes

5th- Ino Yamanaka_1.40 minutes

11th- Sakura Haruno_12.30 minutes

12th- Yakumo Kurama_12.35 minutes

"Okay, with all the results here, we will now move to the next exercise," Iruka said before leading his class to a different part of the field, towards the trees where targets were placed. "The next exercise will be target practice. You are required to use five shuriken and five kunai and hit all ten targets. Since the boys went first last time, the girls will be first this time."

The boys all went to the side as the girls lined up and picked up the weapons beside them. The civilian kids started first and they did horribly. They mostly got a total of three hits. Sakura got three kunai and two shuriken, earning her five points, something she was bragging about.

She stopped bragging when Yakumo got three kunai and three shuriken. Ino got the same score and Hinata and Sam got four Kunai and four shuriken. Dani, Naruko and Satsuki got five shuriken and four kunai.

"Okay, good," Iruka said impressively, especially to Dani, Naruko, Satsuki, Sam and Hinata. Last year, only one girl managed to get all ten target and these girls almost got it. "Boys, line up."

Sakura gave the girls who scored higher than her a dirty look before walking away. When it was the boys' turn, the civilian boys did the same as the civilian girls.

When it was Shino's turn, he got five shuriken and three kunai. Shikamaru did three kunai and two shuriken, though he looked like he wasn't trying. Choji did three on both kunai and shuriken. Kiba did four shuriken and three kunai, causing him to swagger. He lost his swagger when Naruto did five shuriken and three kunai.

When it was Sasuke turn, he decided to show off. He took all the ten weapons in both hands and then threw them at the same time. He got all the shuriken but four of the kunai. Half the girls started cheering, with Sakura as the loudest. Only Dani, Hinata, Ino, Naruko, Sam, Satsuki and Yakumo remained quiet.

He gave the boys a look that said 'I'm better than you,' which caused most of them to be angry. Danny seemed annoyed by that look, so he decided to beat him at his own game.

He walked towards the weapons and surprised everyone by blindfolding himself. He groped the table next to him to get the weapons, causing most of the boys to mock him.

"What are you planning to do? Miss?" one boy exclaimed.

"Don't wanna see how bad you do?" another said.

"Hn, like you can outdo an Uchiha elite," Sasuke said.

What an idiot!" Kiba laughed, think that he might get zero hits.

Unknown to them, Danny was using his Shinigan to see through the blindfold and increase his throwing strength and accuracy. When Iruka gave the signal, Danny threw the weapons one at a time, hitting every target.

The boys who were mocking him instantly shut up as they stared at the targets with wide eyes. Danny stopped the Shinigan and removed the blindfold before walking towards his friends. Suddenly, the girls cheered, much louder than the one Sasuke received.

The Uchiha gave Danny a look of loathing. He was supposed to be the best, not this guy. His dad told him so, that the Uchiha are the best of the village, making them the elite.

When Iruka recorded their scores, he led the group to the place where the students did their spars. This time, it was the boys' turn to go first. He randomly paired the boys and put the names on the board. Danny looked and saw that he was paired with Sasuke Uchiha.

He turned to the Uchiha, who gave him a grin that says 'I will show you your place.' Danny just raised an eyebrow before turning his back on him. Choji and Shikamaru were fighting civilians while Naruto was paired against Kiba.

Four matches later, Shikamaru, Choji and Shino. Shikamaru just tricked his opponent into getting out the ring. Choji's opponent called him fat, he ended up black and blue.

Danny and Sasuke stood in the ring, facing each other. Sasuke gave an arrogant sneer while Danny just prepared himself. Iruka looked at the two kids before he gave the signal.

The two got into their respective forms, Danny was in his Illusion Fist while Sasuke was in the Interceptor Fist. Both of them waited for the first hit, circling each other like wolves. Danny's friends were cheering for him while most of the girls cheered for Sasuke.

Finally, the Uchiha got tired of waiting and decided to attack first. He charged and aimed a fist at Danny's face. Moving fluidly, Danny dodged the attack and strike at Sasuke's arm. He then aimed a punch at Sasuke's left side, which the Uchiha saw. He went to block it, but then felt something hit his right side.

He was shock as Danny jabbed his stomach, knocking the air out of his body. Sasuke jumped away to get his bearings back, but Danny charged and kept the attack. The Uchiha tried to block, but Danny's attack was too fast.

Soon, Sasuke was feeling pain from all over his body. They were the same age, but Danny was fast, not as fast as Itachi, but faster than him. And his punches hurt. Sasuke soon fell to the ground, gasping for air.

Iruka declared Danny the winner and went to help Sasuke up his feet. Sasuke ignored the help and stood up on his own.

"I demand a rematch!" he exclaimed as he pointed at Danny. "He cheated!"

"How exactly?" Danny said as he crossed his arms. "I won using my clan's taijutsu style. How did I cheat?"

Sasuke was about to retort when Iruka stopped him. He ordered the two to exit the ring and called Naruto and Kiba. Sasuke glared at Danny's back, vowing that he'll get back at him.

"That was awesome, Danny!" Naruto said as Danny grinned.

"Break a leg, Naruto," Danny said as he patted the blond on the back. "Actually, break him," he pointed at Kiba.

Naruto nodded before running into the ring. Kiba just grin smugly, thinking he got the easiest pick. He heard about Naruto through some of his clansmen and believed that Naruto was weak. The two got into their respective stances, waiting for the match to begin.

When Iruka gave the signal, Kiba rushed towards Naruto, deciding to end this with one hit. He threw a sloppy punch towards Naruto, who blocked it with his arms. Naruto then deck Kiba on the face before kicking him on the gut.

Kiba held his gut before glaring at Naruto. He charged and threw punch after punch, trying to hit Naruto. The blonde easily dodge and block the attacks. Since he sparred with his friends, he can easily block a slow attack.

Naruto then rammed his elbow on Kiba's face before giving an uppercut. Kiba flew out the ring, giving Naruto the win.

"Why you!" Kiba exclaimed as he stood up and charged at Naruto, only to be stopped by Iruka.

"The match is over!" he said with a stern glare. "Go back to the sides. It's the girls' turn now."

Kiba growled before stomping back to the sidelines. Naruto walked back to his friends, congratulating him for the win. Naruto sheepishly grinned at their praise as Iruka paired the girls. Sam was paired with Sakura, Hinata with Naruko and Dani with Satsuki.

Ino easily won her match against a civilian girl while Yakumo surprisingly defeated her opponent. When it was Sam and Sakura's turn.

The pink haired girl didn't stand a chance against Sam. She didn't last thirty seconds against Sam. Everyone were captivated with Naruko and Hinata's fight. The two moved with a grace of an antelope, countering and blocking their attacks. In the end, Naruko's stamina won her the match as Hinata tired out.

When it was Dani and Satsuki's turn, they both did their respective stances, just like what their brothers' did. When Iruka gave the signal, the girls charged. Dani aimed a kick, which Satuki dodged. Satsuki threw a punch, which Dani blocked. Dani then aimed a roundhouse kick towards Sastuki, who ducked before jabbing Dani on the gut.

Dani back a bit, causing Satsuki charged and continued her assault. She kept jabbing Dani until the Phantom caught her arm and flip Satsuki to the ground. The Uchiha groaned before she saw Dani aiming a punch at her face. She quickly rolled away, avoiding the fist, and jumping back on her feet.

"Woah," Naruto said with awe. "They're good."

"They look evenly match," Danny commented.

Soon, the time limit was reach and both girls were still standing, out of breath. Both girls fell to their knees as they gasped for breath.

"Hey…you're pretty good," Dani said with a smile.

"…You too…" Satsuki said.

Danny and Naruto went to help Dani up her feet. In turn, Dani offered a hand to Satsuki. The Uchiha stared at the hand before at Dani, who had a wide smile on her face.

"You wanna hang out sometimes?" Dani asked.

"Um…sure," Satsuki said shyly. She accepted the hand and Dani helped her up. On the sidelines, Sasuke was glaring at his sister.

Once everyone was done, they gathered back to the front of the school. The Hokage once again stood in front of the kids.

"I am quite impress today," he said, causing the kids to brighten up. "But it isn't good enough. Outside our village, shinobi will be faced with situations that will be out of their control and require everything to come back in this village, alive."

The kids murmured about what the Hokage said. Said Hokage raised a hand to quiet them down and get their attention.

"You may have done well today, but tomorrow will be different," he explained. "Tomorrow, you will begin to push yourselves to the limit and learn what it really means to be a shinobi. Tomorrow, you will take the first step of becoming a shinobi for this village."

The kids all stood straight as they listened to what the old Hokage was saying. Though to Naruto, it felt like he was saying that to him and his friends.

"Now, you are dismiss," Sarutobi said, looking at the children. "Get a good rest for tomorrow."

With that, the Hokage did a sunshin, along with a few of his shinobi. The parents walked towards their children and started saying what a good job they did. Jazz went and hug her siblings.

"You did great out there," she said as Naruto, Naruko and Sam were congratulated by Tsunade and Shizune.

"But that doesn't mean we're going to slack off on training," Jikan said.

"Hai," the two twins said with a grin.

Unknown to them, Sasuke was glaring at Danny's back. This was not how he pictured his orientation to happen. He pictured his orientation to be him being on top of everything and showing these losers that he's an elite.

Instead, he was second to last in the race, he was outdone in the weapons exercise and he lost in the spar. All because of that Phantom kid.

"Just you wait," Sasuke thought as he clenched his fists. "I'll show you who the superior one is."

Orientation, the most important day of being a student. We now see where Danny and his friends stand in their class, along with a few rivalries. And soon, they will start their Academy days. Oh, and Dani made a new friend. Who else will they befriend and what will they learn during their seven years in school.

Next chapter, Academy Days and a visit from Kumo.

Well, you think about that while I go eat some calamari. Stupid robot octopus thought it could beat me? Ha! Well, see you later!
