I own nothing. These characters belong to Tina Fey!
Seduction Is Limitless
Truth be told, Liz couldn't believe it. Not about the whole Jack-being-my-soulmate part.
No, no. That was something she is perfectly okay with now. In fact, she was relieved when Jack stated saying that he felt the exact same way about her too, and then later confessed to even have felt that way for the last four years apparently. Which she did not understand at first, or had ever noticed in the beginning either.
But that wasn't what puzzled her brain. No. What had really puzzled her was how in the hell she managed to leave his office forty-five minutes ago? With him still inside said-office to get back to phone calls, meetings, budget cuts, and such.
Did it hurt leaving each other's side? Of course, it did. Liz had to sink her teeth into the back of her hand to feel some sort of different pain to distract her from the chest region one. She had to get back downstairs to work too, and didn't want to drag Jack away from his responsibilities either. Plus, all those other idiots in the writer's room don't need to know about this. None whatsoever. Let those idiots continue their pointless scavenger hunt for fun and games.
And this whole separation anxiety thing was it really necessary?
This is entirely ridiculous, thought Liz. Fate and Destiny think they're a couple of real cute cupids; more like sadistic cupids enjoying the fact that neither Liz nor Jack could stand to be no more than ten feet apart from each other.
But you know what? They did it anyway. They found a way. So take that, Fate! Eat that, Destiny!
Obviously, Jack and Liz won this round. Even if it did pain Jack to watch Liz leave out of his office, where he had to turn his back away from looking and tried coping with the widening ache in his chest, as he made his way over to his drink tray by the time Liz was gone and the pain sharply deepened a bit more. They both felt it simultaneously for the first twenty-five minutes of it until they threw themselves into their usual workload of responsibilities. Somehow, they managed to subdue the aching sensation in their chest area with the ongoing distractions; but it was still there… as a burning reminder for them.
"They're rather good at this," commented a voice.
"They are only good at this because they've already spent the past four years with suppressed feelings for each other. This is no different. All that practice has made them skilled at this," replied a secondary voice.
The first one who spoke turned to look at the other with pensive eyes. "You're right, Fate. Should we crank it up a notch then?"
A humorous laughter erupts from Fate as he says, "That won't be necessary, Destiny. They're doing well so far. Let's see what'll happen next, shall we?"
"Oh! Look! We have the oh-so-beautiful, Jenna Maroney, heading upstairs!" pointed out Destiny into their crystal ball-like monitor.
Fate raises his eyebrows conspicuously. "Interesting."
Destiny turns to side to look at her companion with a quizzical face, "When does her soulmate come in again?"
Fate is examining to the monitor. "Oh, not for a couple of more episodes, my love. And let me tell you, Paul will be an exotic twist to her exotic taste."
The two of them then smile and laugh like a bunch of schoolgirls before they continued to watch the monitor.
"Hello, Jack," greeted Jenna seductively. An arm casually rose up against the open door.
Jonathan seemed nowhere to be found, given that Jenna just took on the liberty of walking into Jack's office.
Jack's eyes look up at the blonde actress trip on the rug while she made her way over to his desk. His eyebrows are furrow before his face scrunched up into pure confusion.
"Can I help you, Jenna?" asked the executive with a stoic tone.
Jenna wears a sexy grin on her mouth as she slowly leans over his desk, trying her best to avoid getting poked on by some of the miniature antiques and decorations Jack had.
"Well here's the thing, you know that rumor going around about how there are two soulmates in this building? Well, I just happened to be in this building of course."
Jack's face deadpans before he says: "Jenna, if you came all the way up here just to seduce me–your boss–then you are sadly mistaken for I am not your soulmate."
"I mean, how could you possibly know that?" said Jenna dropping the seduction act.
"Because I don't believe in soulmates," uttered Jack simply.
"Well, the letter states that both individuals won't even know it's them until true love's kiss," argued Jenna arrogantly. She was looking at Jack as if she had figured everything out already and this was her last chance to victory.
As for the executive, all he could do was roll his eyes and lightly massage his left temple.
"So shall we get this on and find out?" This time Jenna's smirk makes a comeback, adding what was supposed to be a seductive wink to Jack. She then straightens up to walk around his desk, to which Jack promptly gets up from his chair as he backs up away from her.
"Jenna, you are seriously mistaken. Trust me," tried Jack nervously before raising his hands to prevent her from coming closer. "Maybe Danny could be your potential soulmate? Or perhaps Kenneth."
"Oh, I've already tried with Danny. Twice," replied Jenna while wiggling her eyebrows as she slowly walked towards Jack. "Twice meaning we did it under Kenneth's desk during lunch. I mean, look how this is going for us. Seduction is limitless, Jack."
Suddenly he stumbles onto one the legs of the desk, but quickly recovers since it seems Jenna's smirk and determined eyes were still creeping over towards Jack.
"This is not who you are, Jenna. Let's be realistic here, you and I are not... even compatible!" says Jack with a nervous laugh.
"Opposites attract," replied Jenna, determinedly.
"Not in this case, Jenna." At this point Jack is already at the center of his office, thinking of making a run for it out the door. Far, far away from the actress and back into the arms of a loving, feet-ointment-coupon-receiving, L…
But then that's when Jack realized he was officially trapped under his prey's hungry glare and sharp claws, as Jenna was now nearing in Jack's stature before a voice saved... entered the room.
"Jenna?" called the voice in question.
The both of them stopped. Jack standing still from his failed attempt to enacting his escape plan; while Jenna finally stalled in her tracks towards the man, and instead looked over at her best friend by the entrance.
Seriously, where was Jonathan in all this?
Seriously? Where did Jonathan run off to? Lol.
