"I wanna play with Kol, Daddy." Marcellus complained. I sighed. He'd been begging since the hour I told him Kol was grounded from Marcel and vice versa. I picked him up and sat him on my lap.
"How about a story Marcellus? Will that take your mind off him?" 'Besides. You're supposed to love me.'
"What type of story?"
"Well since you have read your book I have a story from my youth."
Kol came barging in and he smiled. I put Marcel on the table and stood up. I walked toward him.
"What have you done with Elijah?"
"Oh well he's lying with a broken neck. Don't worry Marcel. He'll come back… I think."
I calmed myself before I did anything foolish in front of Marcel. I looked to see his expression and he was horrified. "Don't worry. A snapped neck never means death for us. It only means that when he wakes he shall have a lot to say to you Kol Mikaelson." I said staring him in the eye.
"I do." Elijah said and grabbed Kol's ear and dragged him out. Oh well. At least it's not me.
"Can I go outside and play?"
"Sure. Come Marcel. Let's go play." I took him off the table and carried him outside. I set him on his feet and he looked at me again.
"What was that story you were going to tell me?"
"…When I was young and the time I cursed in church. Such a foolish thing to do now that I think about it." I smiled at my stupidity when I was young. How on earth did my family handle me anyway?
Marcel ran off and I chased after him. We played tag for a while and then he decided he wanted to play hide and seek. A game I excelled at but 'sucked' with Marcel. I smiled.
"How long do you want me to count?"
"Count to 50."
"Fine." I closed my eyes and covered them with my hands. "Uh… Duh… Twa… Cuatra… Sank…" I counted until I reached my number of 50. "Ready or not! Here I come!"
I looked around and didn't see him anywhere. I began to search behind every tree and under every rock. Literally. I smiled when I caught his voice. However, he was talking to someone else. I didn't recognize the voice so I headed toward them.
When I got there, I found him talking to a girl. Sarafina. I smiled. I walked out. "I found you Marcellus. You were supposed to be hiding. Why weren't you?"
"Dad guess what?" I sat down to their level. Small children were adorable. I looked from one to the other, they were smiling. I didn't get a hint so I looked to my child.
"What?"
"There is a party on Friday, do you know when that is?"
"That would be two days from now. Let me guess. You wish to attend?"
"Yes sir. Please."
"Yes. Please."
They both kept begging, I pretended to think about it and they grew desperate. I smiled. "Fine. If you behave yourself tomorrow you may attend but only with my presence there." He jumped me and began to hug me, as did the girl.
"Thank you, Thank you, Thank you." They chanted. I patted Marcel on the head.
"Of course you may go. I do not care if you attend a party. I don't desire you not to have friends. In fact, I wish for the opposite. I want you to be happy and have a social life. I have a social life… sort of." They smiled.
"Bye Sarafina."
"Bye… Marc." She batted her eyes at him and then I think she ran home. It wasn't my business.
"Now where is this party taking place?"
"At Leo's house."
"Perfect. Well now I believe it's time for a nap." I saw him yawning and picked him up before he could run. I carried him home, and laid him in bed. I read him a bedtime story and left him to sleep. I found Celeste, alone. I smiled and appeared behind her. I couldn't help it. This had become a game. She and I would taunt each other either in front of Elijah or behind his back, which is where all the better stuff happened.
I shoved her and then smiled as she fell to the ground. "Sorry love. Did not see you there. Mind if I help you up? Just kidding."
"Well misuor. That is fine. I can help myself up." She stood up and dusted herself off.
"I suggest you stay from him or you will come to worse happenings. You know me, don't you? I always keep my promises. Or is it the other way around. I forget myself." I was about to feed from her until Elijah came into the room.
"Niklaus! Behave. Why must you behave in such a manner?"
"I don't know. Maybe you should figure it out." I fled from the house to go find something to do. I went to Leonardo's house to find his father just about to leave. "Excuse me sir but I hear you are hosting a party?"
"Yes. I am. What of it?"
"I was wondering if I could bring my son, Marcel?"
"I could care less; after all it is for anyone who wishes to come. I ask only that you bring some money for the support of the poor."
"Of course. Thank you sir." I left to go attend to Marcel until I ran into Kol. He was across the street, terrorizing women for his own fun and games. I ran over to him and dragged him away. "Kol what do you think you're doing?"
"Nothing but a bit of fun Nik. Come on join me if you wish."
"I can get a girl in bed with me Kol. You could if you would stop all these dumb fooling around."
"You have changed ever since that child came into your life. I suppose you drop him and see how much fun you could be having if you were yourself."
"And you realize that if I were to do so that many would end up dead?"
"So? That would be their fault." He shoved me and I decided to humour him for a bit.
"Fine. One game. What is it?"
"I say we go and torment the witches."
"Fine with me. They do after all need to learn not to mess with my family."
So I led him to their base, the cemetery. I went in and Kol followed me, on edge. I smacked him and he growled. "Don't worry. These witches can do nothing. I'm the king and such a thing would be considered treason."
"As if brother."
So we went in and found a young witch. "Hello. Can I help you?"
"Yes. Where does the witch Celeste live? She needs a lesson in respect."
"Why would I tell you that? We know how you treat her." I slammed her against one of the buildings and hissed in her face, showing my vampire face to her.
"All the more reason to do so; love, lest I do the same to you."
"Stop. Stop. I'll tell you." I dropped her and she slid down the building to be sat on the ground.
"Wow Nik. Are you sure that was necessary?"
"Shut up Kol."
"Niklaus! Kol! What are you two doing?"
We both turned around to see Elijah. "Teaching the witches a lesson."
"And you wonder why we have so many enemies? Niklaus go home. Kol explain yourself. Niklaus would never come to this if you didn't encourage him."
"Shut up Elijah. Don't act like your superior to us." I growled and he took a step back, surprised. I went home, having said my piece. I found Rebekah playing with Marcel and smiled. I went in and they smiled.
"Niky's home! Yay!"
"Yay! Daddy!"
They jumped me. "No! I'm dying! Help me! Please! Ahh!" I got quieter and quieter. They stared at me. Worried. I threw my head up to look at them. "Boo!"
They jumped back laughing. I smiled and then Rachel came and whispered into my ear as Elijah and Kol came home. "Supper is ready."
"Okay collect everyone. IT's time for dinner." I picked up Marcellus and carried him into the dining room.
After dinner, I put Marcel and Kol to bed, despite their complaints and went to apologize to Elijah.
"Elijah—" I stopped and sighed. Celeste, of course, was inside with Elijah. "I wish to speak to you alone."
"Very well. I'll be a minute Celeste."
He came to me and I led him out of her earshot. "I'm sorry for my behaviour in the witch compound. I was just playing with her."
"You call harming her play?"
"I'm a vampire. Anything can be called play."
"Well you should not do what Kol asks. You know that."
"Sorry. Now good night. That was all I needed to say. I love you Elijah. No matter what Celeste says."
"She does not tell me such things Niklaus. I love you as well." I gave him a hug and he returned it. I left him and went to bed myself.
(Sorry I took so long to post these chapters but I have been sick. I am going to try to make better time and update all stories at once. So maybe you can expect a weekly update for all of them?)
