Author's Note: I was going to have this chapter in Neil's POV, but I changed my mind and I wrote the aftermath of the party in Wyatt's POV. Neil's POV will be in the next chapter. Thanks for reading and please review!
Wyatt Hofstadter's POV
I have to take care of my stupid sister again!
I knew something was up when I heard loud celebrations coming from the kitchen while I was talking with my friends. We decided to investigate what was going on and I wish I hadn't. I saw my sister making a complete fool out of herself by doing a kegstand.
So I had to stop her. She was already drunk. She doesn't know what she was doing. I ended the show and drove her home right away. Maddie did put up a fight with me and was hitting me, but I was dragging her to my car with help from my friends.
I made her sit in the backseat with the window open so she would vomit all over me. Her sentences were coming out in slurs as she was trying to tell me I should turn around and go back to the house, but I didn't listen to her.
When I finally arrived home, I took Maddie in the house and hope that everyone is still asleep. It was only ten at night and the lights in the house were dark. Only the light from the TV was on in the living room. I saw Mom and Dad were cuddling on the couch together and I think they're asleep. I hear Mom's snoring.
"Are they sleeping?" Maddie whispered.
"Yes! So be quiet and shut up!" I told her harshly with my voice quiet and soft like hers.
She looked at me angrily. "You don't have to be so mean!"
"Shhh!" I covered her mouth with my hand when she got loud.
With a panic, I look at my parents. They stirred a little, but were still asleep. I was relieved and made a squeamish sound when I felt my sister's tongue licking my hand.
"Ew! Maddie!" I scolded her quietly and she giggled. I rolled my eyes.
When can this day be over?
I carefully and quietly lead my sister up to the bathroom.
"I don't need to make poopies, Wyatt!" She exclaimed.
I rolled my eyes for the second time that night. "You might not, but considering the amount of alcohol you've imbibed, you will most likely suffer through the after effects and possibly a hangover the next morning."
"Awww, man..." She pouted childishly as she went into the bathroom.
Just to make things more worse, my eight year old baby sister came to us. Becca was rubbing her eyes as she saw us. Her bedtime was at eight thirty.
"What's going on?" She asked tiredly with a yawn.
"Maddie is sick." I answered her.
"No, I'm not-" Maddie was going to protest, but her face became quickly pale. "Maybe you're right." She rushes into the bathroom and slammed the door.
"I need to go pee." Becca said.
Crap.
"Uh, well..." I said feeling at a loss here. "Why don't you use the bathroom downstairs?" It was close to the kitchen.
"Fine," She sighed and I walked downstairs to help her. Becca gets afraid of the dark. "Me and Mommy saw Maddie on YouTube."
Oh, great. Things just got way worse. I was horrified.
"What do you mean?" I dreaded.
"We were watching cat videos and then we stumbled on a video where Maddie was doing a handstand. You know, like how I can do them when Mommy and Daddy take me to the park. And I can do cartwheels."
Hopefully, you won't do them when you're an irresponsible sixteen year old at a party.
"Fantastic..." I muttered as we're at the bathroom.
"Mommy and Daddy aren't happy."
"I bet they're not." I grumbled sarcastically.
But she looks at me confusedly. "That's what I said. They're not." Then she went into the bathroom.
I know I drank alcohol, I confess. But not as much as Maddie did. She screwed herself up majorly this time.
When Becca was done, we went upstairs, but I heard the TV was off. Mom and Dad were going to bed, but they saw us.
"Hey, what are you two doing?" Mom asked us.
"I had to go to the bathroom because Maddie is sick." I want to groan. I should have told Becca not say anything.
"Wait," Dad said trying to absorb what she said into what he thinks it means. "Maddie is sick?"
"She's throwing up in the bathroom."
"Ugh! I knew it!" Mom exclaimed frustratedly and stormed upstairs to the bathroom where Maddie was.
"Becca, sweetie, you can go upstairs back to sleep in your room so I can talk to your brother alone."
"Okay." She said and obeyed him.
Dad turned the lights on and looks at me.
"What in the world was Maddie doing?" He asked.
I explained how I found out and took her home. I did not know someone was filming her on their phone.
"You did the right thing, Wyatt," Dad approved. "I'm worried if this video spreads, she'll get into trouble."
"I can try to find the person who filmed it and confront him or her to take the video down," I told him. "It's not like she really did anything that bad."
"I know, but she would be embarrassed by it the next day and regret what she did."
"Maybe it will serve her as a lesson." I crossed my arms being annoyed with her antics.
"Maybe, but you wouldn't want your sister to receive public humiliation, do you?"
I sighed. "I guess not..."
"I'll go see if your mother and sister needs help." Dad said and went to turn the lights off and go upstairs.
I followed him, but went to my bedroom. I passed the bathroom where I hear Mom and Dad talking to Maddie.
I wonder if they'll extend her grounding punishment...
Thankfully, the next morning was a Sunday or else Maddie will have to face a hangover on a school day. She would probably have to miss a day if it was Monday instead because of her hangover. Maddie was already experiencing the symptoms.
She didn't show up for breakfast even. She visited my room and I looked up at her from the book I was reading.
"Hey, Wyatt." Maddie looked like a mess.
"Hey," I said. Not really pleased to see her. "Did you even eat anything for breakfast?"
"I had some toast." She shrugged.
"How long are you grounded for this time?"
"Until I'm thirty," She pouted miserably as she slumped down on my bed. "I'm sorry about yesterday. Thanks for doing what you did. Mom and Dad told me."
"No problem. Have you heard that you became a star overnight?"
"Yeah," She didn't look so happy about that. "I need to get that video down."
"I'll help you with that," I promised and smirked. "I'm always saving your ass."
"I know. I'll make it up to you. I swear." She said urgently.
"Sure," I doubted. "Do you know who could it be that recorded you?"
"No. I barely knew half of the people that were there. I only knew the ones from school and a few other people." She answered.
"Do you think it could've been Nick?"
She looks insulted. "I know you don't like him, but god, Wyatt, he would never do that!"
"Alright, fine. He's just a possible option. Maybe his friends." I suggested.
She still looks annoyed. "I don't know, but I'll ask them before I accuse anyone else."
We're going to fight about this and I don't want to. I should just apologize.
"That's a good thing, too. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been so judgmental. Did any of your friends say anything about it?"
"Yes. They just congratulated me." She rolled her eyes, shaking her head.
"You need new friends." Then, she glared at me. Back with the hate.
"Just thanks for your help last night." Maddie said with annoyance and finally walked away.
I can only wonder and imagine how the treatment for her at school will be like tomorrow.
