A/N: royslady51 brought up an interesting point, not many of the Doctor's companions would have left their baby on earth, so this/these next chapter(s) will explore Romana's motives as to why she left Thomas on earth. And other things.

"Do you need anything, Mrs. Smith?" asked the nurse.

"No, but thank you."

holding her son in her arms made her aware of just how much she wanted to keep him, but she knew that wasn't possible. They'd make terrible parents. The Doctor was pretty much a child on his own, and she certainly had no idea what to do with it! The baby would be in constant danger, what with their adventuring. To think, that that night with the Doctor that she'd been praying for would result in all of this. Please was a word with more power than she knew.

She looked up when she felt the baby stirring. As she peered into the eyes of her offspring, she could only see the Doctor, none of her.

"hmm." she was slightly upset about that. And then she saw them, briefly before he went to sleep, that shade of hazel she'd become so familiar with, ah, there I am. Such pretty eyes.

Meanwhile on the TARDIS...

"I shouldn't have done that. I really shouldn't have done that." the doctor was having guilty thoughts.

"good gods, I'm a married Time Lord! Right?" Gallifeyan Divorce policy clearly stated that if one or both partners regenerated into something that no longer suited the other, their marriage would be nulled without question. But his wife had suited him perfectly for three incarnations, why would she not, now? And then it occurred to him.

"I cheated. I, the Doctor, universal do-gooder, have become a cheater! Oh this is bad!" and now Romana was gone! He could just not come back for her, then no one need know what happened!

"no, I can't do that." he thought."how an I going to explain this to my wife?" a tear rolled off his face and landed on his scarf.

"enough of this." and he got up to get Romana.

The night before...

What! What was this blasphemy! What was the Doctor, her Doctor doing with that, that Romana gal? Oh. That's what. Eew. It was at times like this that the TARDIS wished that she couldn't see everything that went on inside her.

A short time later...

But wait, what was that, vomit? Spewing from the Romana girl's mouth? This deserved investigation.

Oh gods, here came another round! *bleuuuuugh!* well, that was convienient, a TARDIS auto-flush feature.

-Romana

Hmm. Initiating auto-flush. Now to investigate. oh. Wow. There was evidence of pregnancy in this Time-Lady vomit. Hmm. Time-Lady vomit. That would explain a lot. The TARDIS had been studying up on human anatomy, due to the Doctor's favour of that race, and it generally took longer for the vomiting to happen to them, it seemed that the TARDIS would just have to wait and see how this folded out.
