Chapter 6
Arriving home that afternoon, Gosalyn went straight to the fridge for the list of chores her dad would post for her. She scanned the list for a few seconds before laying it down on the counter and opening the fridge for a drink.
"Well, about time you got home" Launchpad said stomping into the kitchen.
Rolling her eyes, Gosayln turned around to face her dads sidekick Launchpad Mcquack. "Its 3:30 isn't it, where else would I be?" She snapped without thinking.
Narrowing his eyes, Launchpad quickly crossed the room and leaned over her.
"What was that?" Launchpad sneered
Swallowing Gosalyn quickly backed up a step.
It was always like this between the two of them. Every since the day Negaduck had adopted her and brought her home she could remember Launchpad flying of the handle for one reason or another. She could never remember having a conversation with him that ended good. He had never actually hit her but there were times when she would push the limit that she knew if her dad wouldn't of been around that he would of.
Deciding that she didn't want to test fate today she sighed and lowered her eyes."Sorry"
Launchpad smirked. "Sorry…."
"Sorry for snapping at you, ok?" Gosalyn said trying to hold onto her temper. She hated this always having to be the peacemaker. Just once she just wished she could up and punch him right in his nose. She would to, if she knew he wouldn't hit her back. Not that she was afraid of being hit just of what her dad would do if he found out. She didn't like Launchpad but she didn't want to see him dead.
"That's what I thought." He replied as he grabbed a soda out of the fridge and stomped back into the living room.
Letting out a sigh of relief, Gosalyn quickly picked up the list and started on her chores.
After taking out the trash, doing the laundry, and dusting every one of her dads spare chainsaws in the garage, Gosalyn went to look for something to make for dinner. Opening the cabnets and fridge she relized that Launchpad forgot to go to the store again. Sighing she took out a pack of hamburger meat. "Looks like hamburger helper again."
About an hour later she was just finishing laying it out on the table when she heard the front door slam.
She quickly took a seat at the table as her dad and Launchpad came into the room.
"Hamburger helper again?" Launchpad gripped as he seated himself and gave her a look of disgust. "Why couldn't you make something good like pizza?"
"Well I would of if someone would of went to the store like he was suppose to" She retorted back to him.
"What do I look like a women? That's your job!"
"You said you would after you didn't like what I bought the last time!"
"Well if you would start buying decent food instead of that healthy crap all the time!"
Glaring at him she was about to reply when a fist hit the table causing both of them to jump.
"SHUT UP!" Negaduck yelled as he glared at them. "I have more important stuff to do then listen to you to argue all the time." With that he grabbed the spoon and heaped himself a large portion of the food and started to eat.
Launchpad shut up and quickly followed suit.
Sighing Gosalyn put what remained on her plate. Saying a quick prayer of thanks she started eating.
After dinner Gosalyn had just finished the dishes when she heard the telephone ring.
"Hello, this better be important!" She heard her dad answer. "Yea shes here, but who the heck are you?"
Gosalyn quickly put the last dish away and dashed back into the living room stopping when she saw her dads expression.
"Yea, well I'm sorry shes busy and can't come to the phone, SO DON'T CALL AGAIN!" with that he slammed down the phone and glared at his daughter. "Who the heck is Cindy?"
"Shes a girl I met at school today" Gosalyn replied "Shes new in town."
"You know your not allowed to talk on the phone!" Negaduck spat. "Why did you give her this number anyway? You know your not allowed to have friends I don't know about!"
Lowing her eyes Gosalyn swallowed. "I didn't…." She began but he cut her off.
"Nevermine just make sure you stay away from her " He replied as he went towards the front door with Launchpad in tow. "Me and Launchpad got stuff to do tonite, you had better be in bed by the time we get back!" And with a slam of the door he was gone.
Leaning against the wall, Gosalyn closed her eyes. "What a day."
Authors Note: Yay another chapter finished! I know im kind of dragging this out but I want to get every aspect of what it would be like in the Negaverse out. I know in the Normalverse that Gosalyn and Launchpad are pretty good friends so I figured that the Nega-version of them would hate each other. Hope I did a pretty good job at showing that.
