Mia Pov.
So I was watching Beckett integrate the guy that killed my mom.
"What's going to happen to me and my brother now?" I asked Ryan
"Well I don't know. You will have to ask Beckett." He told me
When Beckett got done. I walked out and went back to her desk. When she came over and then she sat down in Castles chair.
"SO what happens to me and my brother?" I asked her
"Well tonight you guys will stay with me again and until they find blood relatives to take you guys." She explained to me
"What about Kyle?" I asked
"I hate to say it but if they can't find any blood relatives you might have to live with him." She told me
"I thought you would say that." I told her
When I was bending down to get my pencil that I dropped earlier and I felt a sharp pain from my ribs. I got up and walked into the bathroom. I lock the door and then went to mirror and lifted up my shirt. I still had a big purple bruise on my ribs. I heard a knock on the door.
"Mia are you okay?" I heard Beckett ask
"Yeah I will be out in a minute." I told her
"Okay." She said
I put my shirt back down and splash water on my face. I walked back out of the bathroom and I see Kate leaning on the wall by the door.
"Is Jake okay?" I asked her
"Yeah his fine. His hang out with the guys right now." She told me
"Okay." I said then walk into the break room to get a drink.
"So you want to tell me why you ran into the bathroom?" She asked
"I had to go." I told her
"With the doors lock?"
"Yeah"
"You want to try that again, make sound a little more convincing." She asked me
"No I'm good." I told her then took a drink. We were sitting in silentness when Castle and Jacob came in.
"Hey Jake did you finish your homework?" I asked him
"I don't get it." He said
"Okay lets go I will help you." I told him
Beckett Pov.
Castle and I walked back to my desk so I could finish the report so that we could leave. about an hour later I finished the report so I got my stuff and walked in to the break room and saw that Jake was asleep on the couch and Mia was reading City of Ashes and playing with her brothers hair. I walk in a say "Hey Mia its time to go can you wake your brother so we can go ."
"Yeah. Hey buddy its time to wake up." she told him
Castle and I were at my desk when Mia and Jake walked over. Jake stopped Mia and asked her " Mia what is going to happen to us now?"
She got down to his level and said " I don't know, but what I do know is that I will protect you no matter where we are." She explained to him.
" Okay." he said then gave her a hug.
We were in the elevator when Castle asked " Would you guys like to come over for dinner tonight."
I look at the kids and said "I don't know Castle what do you guys think?"
"I'm okay with it." Mia said
Jacob just nodded his head.
"Well looks like we are coming over for dinner. Will Alexis mind that we are coming?" I asked him
"She is the one who wanted me to ask. she really wanted to meet Mia and Jake." He explained
When we got out of the elevator, we walked over to my car. We pulled up to Castles apartment and went up to his loft. Alexis was sitting on the couch when we walked in.
"Hey Alexis." I said
"Hi Detective Beckett." She said back
"Alexis what did I say, you can call me Kate." I told with a smile
"Sorry I forgot." She said shyly
"Alexis I would like you to meet Mia and Jake." Castle said
"Hi I'm Alexis nice to meet you." she said to them
The girls and I were sitting on the couch talking when my phone rang. I looked to see who was calling and it was Josh.
"Sorry I have to take this." I said then walked into Castles office.
K: Beckett
J: Kate why aren't you at your apartment?
K: I'm at Castles, and how do you know I wasn't at my apartment.
J: Because I'm in your apartment. Why is there other peoples clothes here.
K: How did you get in and that is none of your business anymore we are no longer together.
J: the door was unlocked.
K: No it wasn't. I locked it before I left this morning.
J: Kate I would you here NOW!
K: I don't have to listen to you and you better have your ass out of my apartment by the time I get home or I will have your ass arrested.
J: This isn't over Kate.
Then he hung up. I was pacing back and forth in the office when Mia came in.
"Is everything okay, I heard yelling?" She asked
"Umm... it will be." I told her
"Who was that on the phone?" She asked sitting down across from me
'It was Josh, he doesn't really understand that we are over until he says." I explained to her
"Did he hit you?" She asked shyly
I walked over to the door and closed it.
"How did you know?" I asked her
" My mom dated this alcoholic who would come home really drunk and start beating on me and my mom. Jake was just a baby then." she explained
"when did your mom leave him." I asked
"She didn't, the neighbors finally called the cops." She told me
"He was at the apartment when he called."i said looking at my hands
"Well I don't think Jake should go back tonight because Josh might still be in the apartment when we go back." She told me
"No you are not coming with me. He could be at the apartment." I explained to her
"I'm coming now lets go get some food and talk to Castle." She told me then got up and walked out.
