It seemed Sasori lied to her about the Akatsuki waiting for her. "I am sorry, but I needed to intimidate Gaara. He is a very formidable opponent." She nodded, before he strode away. He told her it was best not to come till class until after lunch, so she sat outside, waiting for the bell to ring. When it finally did, she sat still, watching people pass. Not one of the Akatsuki were in sight. Her shoulders dropped. She was hoping to see them…
"HINATA!"
Then it happened. All at once.
She sat frozen. She had no idea how to react. She stood in-between Pein and Naruto, they were both glaring daggers at each other. Each male had a hold of one of her arms, like they were about to start a war of tug-a-Hinata.
All she wanted to do was have lunch with the Akatsuki! But no, both the leaders of both groups spotted her at the same time, instantly trying to take her for themselves. Now here she was, nearly being ripped in half.
Her breathing was fast and ragged, her heart nearly beating out of her chest. She wanted to go with Pein, yet couldn't voice her opinion. Worst yet, it felt as if everyone's eyes were on them. Maybe they were, but she couldn't see with her eyes shut so tightly.
Someone, save her!
"Hinata-sama...?" Her eyes shot open, landing on a figure standing in front of her. His regal outline and burning silver eyes, she knew them anywhere. It had to be him.
"Neji-nii." His name escaped her lips, the widening of his eyes confirmed it. Franticly she mustered her will power and tore herself away, all thoughts going out of her head as Neji's strong arms wrapped around her, holding her tightly to his built chest. She could feel tears starting to build up, but she pushed them back. She loved her cousin so much! She never thought she would see him again.
"Hinata-sama... I was so worried for you..! When I got back from the tournament you were gone." He mumbled into her hair, his breath warm. She clung to him, not wanting to let go. It was a miracle to see him here! The Hyuuga had a specialized school they attended, she almost forgot Neji had special permission to attend a public school.
"Fa-Father disowned me..." Hinata mumbled, her voice breaking slightly. All the worst seemed to disappear as Neji stroked her hair. But, her trance broke soon as she felt a hand on her shoulder. It was Pein, who wore a look of murder on his face.
"Hyuuga bastard! You fucking know our Hinata?" Hidan yelled, the Akatsuki seemed to have gathered while she was in her cousins embrace. She blushed lightly, breaking away from the male. Pein's hand remained on her shoulder, his gaze furious.
"I am her Guardian." Neji sneered at the gathering group of males, making her flinch. He was always so protective of her, perhaps a bit too much at times. She glances around, all the Akatsuki had gathered, along as a number of other people from Naruto's gang.
"Guardian?" Naruto questioned, making her look over to him. His blue eyes tinted red for a moment, before a wide grin spread across her features. She blinked. His moods were rather odd. He was very… Energetic. "Hinata is ours then!" He yelled, raising a fist up. Her jaw dropped. His? She… She belonged with the Akastuki? Or… She shook her head as Hidan started spouting vile language, along with Deidara yelling obscure threats. Tobi for once was quiet.
"She is not." Pein spoke, making her look up at him. For a moment his hand tightened on her shoulder, as if reassuring her. "She lives with us." A small smile pulled itself on her lips. So all that hate earlier… Was it her imagination..? They really did care for her? Tears welled in her eyes, warmth spreading through her. She… She was so lonely without them, she didn't know what she would do without them anymore. They were a big part of her. She stepped closer to Pein, cuddling into his side. The man remained stoic, his eyes on the other gang.
"Fuck that!" Neji's voice made her flinch. She looked to him, he seemed to be flaming. "Hinata-sama." He growled, his white eyes practically red. He then put a finger under her chin, lifting her head to look at him. Her long bangs fell out of her face, showing the main trait of the Hyuuga-clan. "Come back, we will request for your father to take you back." Her heart throbbed. Did… Did he really just ask her that? He knew what her father put her through. He knew what she suffered. Now she finally belonged, and he asked her that? She clung to Pein, her eyes watery. Guilt crossed his features, before he suddenly hardened. "I request a battle." Protests rose in both groups, but she knew what had to be done. Taking one more look as the Akatsuki, she pulled away from Pein. He made a grab for her, but she dodged it.
She dropped into the Hyuuga stance as she tucked her bangs behind her ears. She would need full capacity of her vision. Good thing they were in a remote part of the school yard, only the Akatsuki and Naruto's gang were around now. All the other kids seemed to leave when the arguments started.
Hinata was a good girl, she knew the rules. If there is a dispute among family members where two party's disagreed, they would settle it with their fighting skills. Neji dropped into the same stance. Never did she ever think of the day she would willingly fight someone, let alone her first fight be with her Neji-nii. But she would not go back, not to that horrible place.
If she had to, she would use all the skills she learned from that man.
"Neji! Don't you dare fight that girl!" Naruto yelled. She paused briefly before continuing. It was a family matter, one that could not be changed now.
No!
No distractions.
"Pein, make sure no one interrupts. This is a family mater" Hinata spoke, her voice loud and clear.
There was a moment's hesitation, before his deep voice vibrated. "You guys will not interfere." Pein ordered. The Akatsuki circled them, making her quiver. She shook it off. This had to be her motivation. If she wanted to stay with them… She had to do this.
"Hinata-sama... I will not hold back on you if it means bringing you back home." Neji said, waiting for her to make the first move. She waited, not willing to be the first. This would be her first fight with someone other than her father, she didn't yet know how she would do.
Neji charged, his hand aiming for her chest pressure points. She was an expert at the Hyuuga stance, which was using pressure points to fight. She side-stepped with ease and brought her leg up to hit him in the side. He caught her leg and was about to bring his elbow down and snap it when she twisted her body, bringing her other leg to hit him in the side of the head. He let her go as he stumbled a few feet, his eyes going hazy.
Hinata landed in a crouched position, her eyes trained on him. Neji shook his head before coming at her again. This time he slipped down to kick her legs out from under her, but she dodged by jumping and landing a fairly hard kick to his chest. He flew back a couple feet, landing on his bottom.
Hinata giggled, never did she see her cousin looking so disgruntled. She was fighting him with particular ease, she thought he would be much harder to fight than this. Neji sat there, his eyes clouded. He made no move to get up, instead he bowed, pressing his forehead against the grass. She knew what this meant. She stood up, getting out of her stance.
"Hinata-sama, I resign." Hinata quickly nodded, before bowing. Neji stood swiftly, his eyes dark.
"No way... No one beats Neji. That was only two hits!" Whispers were heard behind her, but she ignored them all.
She hurt her cousin! How could she…? Even in battle… She rushed to him, his eyes assessing him for any serious damage.
"I...I am sorry!" Her voice quivered as she touched the side of his head. There was a large bump, and slight blood. He turned to look at her, a faint smile on his lips. A small line of blood dripped from the side of his lips. Tears filled her eyes. She hurt him… She stared at him, tears flowing.
"Two hits. I have never been defeated in two hits before." He grinned, reaching his hand up to ruffle her hair. Her long bangs fell over her eyes again, hiding her onset of tears. His words were kind, yet it didn't make her feel any better.
"I'm... I'm sorry!" Hinata whimpered, clutching the fabric above her heart. It ached and twisted, it felt as if it was being ripped out. She never thought she could hurt him so much! She never thought she would be able to draw blood with a simple kick! She was even holding back!
"Heishi-sama taught you well. It is no wonder he came out of the spar arena with bruises." Neji coughed into his hand, some blood coming out. Did she hurt his lungs..? Or damage him internally..? She didn't want him to hurt!
"I'm... I'm sorry! I... I don't... want to fight... It hurt... I'm so sorry!" She whimpered, warm tears spilling down her cheeks. She was being gentle, yet she… Yet she… She sobbed, her heart wrenching.
"Actually Hinata, that was very well done." A hand patted the top of her head, making her look up to see who it was. It was Tobi's counterpart, Madara. His mask was still on, but she could feel his change in personalities.
"But... I hurt him..." She whimpered, rubbing her eyes.
"You did well, Hinata-sama..." Neji smiled painfully at her, his eyes softening. Yet, she was still in such pain. How could she…? She swore never to hurt anyone like her father hurt her…
"Madara! Now you show yourself!" Naruto's voice boomed, he stood pointing a finger at Madara. So he knew of Madara? She rubbed her eyes, trying to stop her tears.
"Naruto, we aren't here to take over your territory today." Madara's haughty voice replied as he scooped up Hinata bridal style. She made no motion, instead she kept crying. She really didn't know how to stop herself. "But we will take back our Hinata. Later, Naruto." She leaned against the bulky man, her heart hurting her unbearably.
Somehow, someway, she fell asleep. Perhaps Madara pressed a pressure point on her, but she was out in seconds. Perhaps… It was a good thing. She couldn't handle herself at the moment.
