A/N I'm just updating this because my AusHun story Boredom Kills, So Send Us Stuff! has to be written, and this chapter was pre-written, so I hope you enjoy it!
9 October
"Natalya! Time to go to school!" Katyusha called.
Natalya forced her head up from the table, yawning as she stood. "I'm ready, Kat." She murmured.
She looked at Ludwig on the other side of the table, eating his small bowl of cereal happily. "Morning." He said to her.
She looked at him before giving a small wave to him. "Good morning."
"You don't have to take her to school, I'll take her. Though, since Ludwig's school is out of district, do you mind taking him?" Gilbert spoke as he passed Katyusha on the steps.
Her head turned away from the child to the steps. "My sister takes me to school, you can take your brother to school, we'll just leave it at that."
"Well it's not much of an option seeing that his school isn't in the way of ours, so I'm not going to be late when clearly there's someone else that's here to take him. Besides, your sister is looking for a job and having to deal with a questionable four-year old is distracting, and I don't mind taking you since we're going to the same place anyways." He said and grabbed his backpack near the steps.
"Oh just do it Natalya, stop being so fussy." Katyusha called as she made her way back upstairs.
"I am not being—"
"Yes you are." Gilbert said as he walked past her to grab his keys off of the counter.
Ludwig ran over to his brother, wrapping his arms around his leg. "Bye Gilbo, have a good day at school. I'm gonna miss you."
"I'll be back tonight, don't worry. The lady upstairs is going to take you to school. Don't be afraid of her though, think of her like…an aunt."
His eyes lit up. "So does that mean I can call her Aunt Kat?"
Gilbert shrugged. "You can see if she'll let you call her that."
"Okay!" He said before running up the stairs.
"Knock on the door first! And I'll see you tonight! Be good at school." Gilbert said and slipped his cereal bowl into the sink. "Ready?" He asked turning back to Natalya.
"As ready as I'll ever be." She murmured walking out the door.
...
"So, how was work last night?" Gilbert asked.
Natalya sighed. "What did I tell you last night about useless conversations?"
"Well when you're in the car with me, then we are bound to have conversation."
"But I don't want to have a conversation."
"You know I thought we had a good friendship going on a couple of days ago when we had lunch together."
"That was before you moved into my house."
"So just because I live in your house doesn't mean we have to stop talking. I live in your house now and I know it's embarrassing having someone to move in your house because things are tight, but don't think it's embarrassing just to you because I got kicked out of my house and had to sleep in my car for three days trying to find a place to live for me and my brother. So while you think it's probably the most embarrassing thing to have a room rented out at your place you should feel grateful for not only having someone help you pay the bills, but for letting a person that's willing to keep the secret to save you from embarrassment."
Natalya stayed silent for a moment, not sure if she should feel angry for letting Gilbert tell her what's right, or cry because he sounded so much like her brother. She gave a small sigh. "Work was fine, how was your first night living in my house?"
Gilbert smiled. "It was better than sleeping in a car I'll tell you that. So you work every night?"
"Yeah, it's kind of tiring but the pay is worth it I guess. What about you, what is your work schedule?"
"Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday from 4 to 10."
Natalya winced slightly. "That's a lot to endure."
"Yeah but it's not as bad as 7 days a week from 8 to 12."
Natalya laughed softly. "I guess you're right about that."
Ludwig quietly sat in his car seat, glancing at Katyusha in the rear view mirrors every now and again.
Katyusha glanced up, smiling at him. "What's the name of your school again dear? I forgot."
"Ahh, Covered Bridge Montessori School."
"Oh good, I was just checking, I'm right up the street from it." She said before going quiet.
So did he.
"Ahh, Miss. Kat?"
"Yes?"
"Gilbo said that I shouldn't be afraid of you if we live together, and to think of you like an aunt...So I was wondering if I could call you Aunt Kat?"
Katyusha beamed. "Yes! Of course you can! I would love if you do that Ludwig." She said.
At 2:30 p.m, the last school bell rang, signaling that another day of school is out. Natalya quickly gathered her books, slipping them in her backpack before getting up and quickly leaving out of class only to bump into Gilbert.
"Oh, fancy seeing you here." Gilbert told her.
She sighed. "Don't you have work to go to?"
"Not until 4. Usually I just study 'till it's time to go."
"Oh? Well whatever suits you best I suppose. I'll see you tomorrow then."
"Tomorrow?"
"Yeah, by the time you come home I would have been at work like a couple hours ago."
"Oh right, right. Well I guess I will see you then." With that, Gilbert turned from her, giving her a small wave in the process.
Natalya waved back before hopping on the bus to take her home.
...
"I'm home!" Natalya called as she came through the door.
Ludwig stood up from the couch and ran into the kitchen. "Welcome home, Miss Natalya." He said to her.
Natalya chuckled a bit at the boy's courtesy. "You don't have to put a 'Miss' in front of it," she said sitting down at the kitchen table and taking her books out to start on homework, "You can call me Natalya, or..Natty if you want." Though she despised the nickname Nattie, Ludwig was four and that made it a little more tolerable.
"Alright, Natty." He said and sat at the table with her, taking the seat across from her. "How was school?"
"It was fine. How was your day at school?"
He frowned. "Miss Kimmi looked really upset today. And she yelled at us."
Natalya looked up at him as she quirked an eyebrow. "Does she do that a lot?"
Ludwig shook his head. "Nope, she doesn't do it a lot."
"Well maybe she was just having a bad day." She said and started to skim through the chapter they were working on today in school.
"Are you doing homework?" Ludwig asked.
"Yeah, do you have any homework?"
He shook his head. "Nope, not today."
"Well since you don't have any homework, then go and watch some television or something. I need to concentrate."
That made Ludwig frown. "Okay, I'll watch T.V." He said and went to the living room to watch television.
Sighing, Natalya went back to her reading. It was a little upsetting to see Ludwig so disappointed, she would have to make it up to him somehow.
...
After a few hours, Natalya closed her books and looked at her phone. "Okay, all done with that. The time is half past five, and can get dinner started, make that up pretty quick and I can then start on getting ready for work."
"Why are you talking to yourself?" Ludwig asked, making Natalya yelp.
"Jesus kid you scared me. What? Do we need a bell to be put around your neck or something?" She murmured. "What are you doing sneaking around anyways?"
The younger one shrugged. "I thought it was fun. And it was more fun than being sent to watch T.V." He said and put his arms over his chest and frowned crossly.
Natalya sighed. What four-year-old holds a grudge? "Okay look, I'm gonna make dinner, how about I make it up by letting you pick and helping me? Will that make up for it?"
Suddenly Ludwig jumped happily and nodded. "Yes please! I'd love to help!"
She grabbed her books and made her way up the stairs to her sister's room. "Ludwig and I are down stairs making dinner. How is job searching?"
"Great. Good." She murmured not looking away from her laptop.
"My day was good too, you know, since you didn't ask."
"Oh that's good."
Natalya glared at her sister. She knew that she was looking for a job, but that didn't mean she could no longer hold a conversation.
Sighing, she went to her room to drop off her books then the bathroom to quickly wash her hands and then go downstairs to start dinner. "Ready?"
Ludwig nodded. "I even washed my hands too Nattie." He said flapping his wrist making the water on his hand fly everywhere.
Natalya smiled. "Good. Have you picked what you wanted for dinner?"
Ludwig thought before gasping. "Potato soup! That sounds good right Nattie? I love potatoes, and Gilbo likes them too."
Natalya went over and grabbed a bag of potatoes off the top of the fridge, and paused. "Hmm, what about chicken and potato soup? Does that sound better?" She asked opening the fridge.
"Oh yeah, that sounds a lot better. I like chicken too."
She grabbed the bag of chicken, smiling at the other. "Now I work quick, so you gotta keep up, cool?"
Ludwig nodded. "Cool."
"Can you grab the biggest pot you can find under the sink?"
Ludwig went under the sink, only to come from under it with a large silver pot.
She took it gracefully and filled it up halfway with water before putting it on the stove. Next she washed off the cold and frozen chicken before placing it in the pot of water and taking seasonings from the cupboard to season it. "Alright, that's that. Time to peel and cut the potatoes." Natalya said.
She went in the cupboard and grabbed a big bowl, then a cutting board under the sink and finally a knife from the utensil drawer before putting them all on the table. "Ludwig can you push the trashcan over here?" She asked as she sat down to start peeling the potatoes.
Ludwing ran on the other side of the room, pushing the trash can over to the table before climbing into a seat next to Natalya. "What can I do now Nattie?"
"Well, you can wash your hands again since you just touched the trashcan, but when you come back you can put the cut potatoes in the bowl."
"Okay! I'll be right back!" He called before dashing up the stairs.
Once he came back down, hands washed and all, he sat by Natalya once more, placing the potatoes already cut into the bowl.
"So, how are you liking living here?" Natalya asked as she continued to peal.
"Oh I like it a lot. I still get to go to school, and Aunt Kat is nice, even if she's always busy, and you're really nice too Natty."
Natalya laughed softly. "You're sweet Ludwig, thank you. And I'm glad you like living here. How do you think you're brother likes living here?"
"I think he likes it, he looks happy. I asked him about you too."
"Me? Why?"
"Well I didn't know why Gilbo didn't want to talk to you. He loves talking to people."
"Well I knew you brother before he moved in, and it made it feel a little awkward, but everything is fine now. Nothing to worry about."
"Oh that was why? He told me it was because you had a really big crush on him and you wanted his body and everything so it would be hard for you to keep away even though you didn't want to."
Natalya stop cutting the potato she was on and narrowed her eyes. "Oh did he now? Well aren't we going to have a pleasant talk in the morning?"
...
"I'm going to work!" Natalya shouted as she made it down to the steps.
Ludwig watched from the table as she came down stairs. "You look really pretty Natalya." He said grinning.
Natalya smiled. "It's just a coat Ludwig."
"No not that. It's your hair, it's really curly and pretty, and you makeup is pretty too."
"Well thank you, and I'll see you in the morning okay?" With that she grabbed her keys and made her way to the door.
"Okay, bye Natty." He said over his shoulder as he went into the living room.
Natalya gave him a small wave as she left out the door, locked it behind her, and set off down the street.
...
Natalya looked around as she tossed her coat behind a few boxes in the alley, shivering at the sudden cold air. It wasn't a very lit alley but it was lit enough to see other prostitutes at their posts.
Natalya watched as women hopped in and out of suspicious cars as always. She sighed as she paced back and fourth. Standing up and walking around in high heels in the cold was not the best thing, but she couldn't sit on the curb and bundle up, she had to stand and make herself look available so customers would pick her and want her.
Suddenly a small blue compact car came up to the curb. The window rolled down revealing a woman with long blonde hair and soft blue eyes, even Natalya had to say that she was quite the looker.
Natalya slowly made her way to the car, leaning over in the window. "Sorry, I don't pleasure ladies."
The other pouted. "Oh, but you're just so cute, besides I think I might have enough to cover the night." She spoke as she opened up the ashtray, pulling out a handful of money. "Say, 500?" She asked.
Natalya winced. She's never had that much before, and that would help tremendously.
She sighed. "Well that is a lot, and that would help a lot as well, so maybe it won't be that bad." And with that, she opened the door and slipped in the car.
The lady grinned. "Great. Oh what's your name?"
"It's Sophie."
"Oh no way, my name is Sophia. I think we're going to to get along just fine."
"I'm home!" Gilbert called as he walked through the door.
"Gilbo!" Ludwig called from the table as he ran to hug his leg.
Gilbert picked him up, and spun him around. "Hey West, how's my favorite brother?"
Katyusha, who was sitting at the table with Ludwig, stood up to place the empty bowl of chicken and potato soup in the sink. "How was work?" She asked.
He shrugged. "It was work."
"Well do you mind if I talk to you a bit?"
"Not at all." He said taking a seat across from her. "Go watch some T.V West." Gilbert said as he placed Ludwig back on the ground.
Ludwig wordlessly ran to the living room.
"So what did you want to talk about?"
"Oh it's nothing bad or anything, I just wanted to talk to you about Ludwig going to school while he's living here."
"Oh I see now. So what are we going to do about it?"
"Well I'm not sure if this'll be alright with you, but Covered Bridge is out of district here, and it'll cost four thousand a year if he continues going there. So I was wondering if he transfer to somewhere closer."
Gilbert paused. "I know, he'll really hate doing that, perhaps if it's another Montessori near here?"
"That's what making the decision difficult to make. There are no Montessori schools in this district, so he would have to go to a public school."
"But I don't want him to be taken out of his environment when he's doing so well." Gilbert said with a frown.
"I know dear, but it'll be four hundred dollars a month if he continues to go, and things are already tight as is."
Another pause. "Well, if we can't afford that right now, then that's that. Even though he's going to excel in public school, maybe they'll have an advanced class so he can be challenged. I guess we'll transfer him over."
Katyusha nodded. "Alright, if I'm going to do that I'm going to need his records, and proof of residence."
"Um, I don't think getting his records are possible. I didn't really get things like that from my dad when I moved out, and I really don't want to go back there honestly. But, if you really need his records, you can get some copies at New Generation Pediatric Office."
"Hey I used to work there as the receptionist. That's where I've met your brother before!" She said before turning to the living room. "Hey Ludwig! Do you remember me from the doctor's? I was the nice lady that gave you suckers when you came in the office." She called.
Ludwig looked up grinning before running into the kitchen, and climbing into Katyusha's lap. "I remember you! You were the nicest lady ever! And now you're my Aunt Kat!" He said and wrapped his arms around her.
Katyusha giggled as she wrapped her arms around the other. "I am your Aunt Kat now. I'm glad you're living with me now." She told him and gently swiped at the tip of his nose before looking back at Gilbert. "Getting his files won't be a problem. Now, I picked these up from the post office. And I'm gonna need proof of residence before I get his records for school." She said as she gave two cards to Gilbert.
"They're to switch your residence over to our address, and as soon as you get them filled out I'll send them out, and you'll both be living here." Katyusha spoke happily before frowning. "Oh God will they cut off my unemployment for that?" She murmured before shaking her head. "No it shouldn't matter...I think." She spoke murmuring the last part.
She stood up. "Make sure you fill those out, I'm going back to job searching." Katyusha said as she went towards the stairs, only to stop and call over her shoulder, "Natalya made chicken and potato soup for dinner in the pot on the stove by the way. Help yourself."
"Now that wasn't so bad now was it?" Sophia asked as she drove her back to her curb.
"It was…different." Natalya said, "but I guess it was nice. If anything it made me more comfortable with girls. I mean, it's not as great as sex with a guy, but—"
"Oh don't worry, I wasn't trying to turn you out or anything. I just wanted to have sex with you because you were hot. But if I did in fact turn you out, then I'm doing my job right."
"Turning girls into lesbians one prostitute at a time, huh?"
"Exactly!" Sophia said with a laugh before stopping at her curb. "You were really good for having sex with a girl for the first time." And with that she gave Natalya the 500 dollars.
Natalya took the money smiling. "Thanks. Have a good night." She said and gave her a small peck on her lips before hopping out the car.
"You too." Sophia said. After that, she rolled up the window and drove off.
Sighing Natalya looked around, where were all the girls at their post?
She gazed at the strange car at the end of the alley. Suddenly a man hopped out of the car ran towards her. "Freeze! You miss, are under arrest for prostitution!" He called as he ran to her.
Natalya's eyes widened before she swooped for her coat behind the boxes and run as fast as she could in heels.
"Hey! Get back here!" The police officer yelled as he ran after her.
Natalya ran through the alley and stuck close to the wall to over her, ducking, weaving, hopping over odd objects of each alley way she entered, but that policeman wouldn't give up, he was so close already.
It became harder and harder running in heels when she was running they kept getting stuck in groves and potholes.
Natalya looked behind her. She had time, but it as short time. She stopped and pushed down the straps of her heels to hop out of them and make a fast dash down the alley. That was better. Now she had a better chance at getting rid of him.
She was so close to home, all she had to do was lose the police officer in a shadow, hop a fence and she should be alright. Natalya turned, running on the side of a building and disappeared in the shadow. She watched as the officer ran past her and down the alley.
Finally Natalya exhaled the breath she was holding and stood up. "I guess doing track for 3 years finally paid off." She whispered to herself as she slipped on her coat, and cautiously made her way home.
...
Gilbert was almost asleep on the couch before he heard a knock on the back door. Hesitantly, he made his way over to the door and pulled it open cautiously.
Natalya pushed him out the way, walked in the house and fell on the couch.
"What are you doing home at," he looked at his watch, "11:20?"
"There was a bar fight so I don't think I'll be going to work for a couple of days." She mumbled into a pillow.
"Oh, well it's good seeing you before bed, you know, knowing you're okay and stuff."
She looked up from the pillow. "Thanks for caring."
"Someone has to." He said over his shoulder. "Dinner was good by the way, and now that you're home, I'm going to bed. Goodnight."
"Wait, you waited up for me?" She asked, but he was already gone and upstairs.
A/N Okay so this was the best I could do right now, I'm sorry it's a little shitty, and filler-ish, but it's something, right? As always I love reviews and all, they're the best gift to an author, so I advise that you do that. See you all in the next chapter!
