For starters, I am really sorry i haven't write for so long. But life happened, and I totally forgot about this FF. Fortunately I have a couple of friends who reminded me of it, so yeah, here it is, you have a new chapter to read. Second of all, I'm sorry, but I'm not even close to being a doctor, so I don't know anything about cancers (well, I know a little from a personal experience), so if I write something that is not true due to some sickness, please ignore it, it's just a made up thing due to my imagination as this whole fic, and it will stay this way. Please accept it.
With that said, I can now introduce you to the chapter number six.

Disclaimer: If Andrew Marlowe will hire me, I'll let you know.

(Restrospection)

Kate and Rick were sitting in the exam room, waiting for the results of the tests the doctors did. A bunch of them. Both of them a little worried. This was taking longer than they expected it to be. Finally the doctor came in.

"I think we have bad news. Your blood tests came back and it shows up that you have a leukemia. It is causing the cramps you were experiencing sometimes. The cramps normally don't happen, but because you are pregnant your organism is acting differently than in the non-pregnant person case." the doctor said practically in one breath. "Now... you have options to consider. I don't want to force you to make a decision now, but it will be best if we know as soon as possible what you decided. So go home, think things through, and come back here and let us know what you decided." The doctor looked at Kate and added "You really should consider abortion."

With the last words of the doctor Kate felt like she is going down. Down that rabbit hole. The same rabbit hole that she was in when her mother died. When she first found out that her mom is dead. She felt like her life is breaking again, her heart started to beat faster. As a future mom, for the first time she felt helpless. Abortion wasn't a way. She wanted this child so badly and now what? She had to get rid of it? She loved it. No matter what, she already loved it. Rick was still holding her hand. She could feel he is as shocked as she is. She also could see the tears in his eyes, but he couldn't show her his weakness. He had to hold up, so he swallowed a big stone that was sitting in his throat and squeezed her hand harder. A single tear came down her cheek.

.

The next day she couldn't get out of bed. It all overwhelmed her so much, that she just felt like she wanted to stay in bed forever. And then the phone rang. She took it from the night stand and saw Lanie's name on the screen.

"Hello?" she answered the phone quietly.

"Hi girl!" said Lanie on the other end. "What's up with you? Long time, no see. Is everything all right? Your voice sounds really weak."

"I'm just tired, that's all, Lanie."

"No way. You're only four moths pregnant and you're already tired? Come on, what's going on?" Kate knew Lanie would know instantly that something's not right. She just didn't know how to explain it. Didn't want to talk about it. Whatever. Just no.

"Yeah, see, that's what being pregnant is all about, isn't it?"

"Uhm, no? Are you forgetting that I am a doctor here?"

"Oh yeah, I forgot." the sarcasm took over. Okay, Lanie was her best friend but what was she supposed to say to her? Yeah Lanie, I'm fine, laying the whole day in bed and all, but don't worry, I just have a cancer and the doctor suggested an abortion to me?

"So? Okay, nevermind. I'm visiting you at 3 pm. And don't try to talk me out of it."

"But Lanie..."

"No. I'm coming. End of the story." and with those words her best friend hung up.

.

"Mom?" she heard a quiet knocking on the door, and then Alexis came in, to the bedroom where she was laying the whole morning, and didn't even seem to care to go out and eat breakfast.

"Hi honey." Kate answered with a tiny smile, getting herself up on her elbows and leaning on the headboard. "What's up?"

"I just wanted to ask if you're ready for breakfast. Hadn't see you all morning."

"I was just... sleeping. Sorry, this pregnancy makes me so sleepy."

"Is... Is everything okay?" Alexis asked, a little worried. Kate was always a morning person. Even since she found out that she was pregnant. And now, with a matter of one day it all changed? No way.

"Yeah, why?"

"It's just... I'm worried. You're a little bit off, since yesterday. Did something happen?"

"Well..." and here she was again, the repetition of her phone call with Lanie. She just didn't know how to explain. And yet, she felt like she had to break the 'news' to Alexis, she owed her that. Alexis wasn't a little girl anymore. She should understand. "Where is your dad? It would be best if he was here for this."

"I'm right here, babe." And right then Castle showed up with a plate in one hand and orange juice in another. "Made you breakfast." he put the glass with the juice on the nightstand, gave Kate the plate with scrambled eggs and two toast on it, leaned in and kissed her forehead.

"Glad you're here." She patted a free space on the bed for him to sit there. She took his hand and squeeze it tight. "Alexis... we have to tell you something." Alexis had this confused look on her face that made Kate all nervous again. "Uhm.. Okay, this is hard..." And then she let it out. "I have a leukemia. A cancer."
