Author's Note: Oh, I revised the last two chapters. Basically, the 4th chapter I fixed LeFou's way of speaking a bit and the 5th I added that Adelaide found a piece of paper with the name D'Arque on it from Gaston's closet. Sorry for this short chapter, but the way I ended it just seemed natural. I hope you enjoy!

If I told myself under what circumstances I was writing this journal entry, I don't think I would hardly believe it. The strangest things have happened today and I can't wait to write of them.

First of all, LeFou and I were walking towards Belle's home. He slowly started to tell me what had happened the night after Belle had refused Gaston.

"After she turned him down flat he was real down. I got the tavern to sing to him about how great he was. My what a guy, that Gaston. He cheered up, but then that loon Maurice ran in and started raving about a beast. The wheels in his head started turning, and he got an idea," LeFou had explained to me.

"What was his idea?" I asked after he had stopped.

"Adelaide," said LeFou after hesitating, "I think I might have made a mistake in listening to Gaston."

"Don't worry about it. My job isn't judge, it's to find out what happened," I reassured him.

"Well, alright. Gaston decided to throw Maurice in the loony house unless Belle would agree to marry him," said LeFou simply.

"What!?"

"Gee, this is a secret. Quiet down," said LeFou, looking around.

"Sorry," I apologized immediately.

What? I knew Gaston always wanted to get his way but I never would expect him to do something that manipulative. I guess even I had an unhealthy vision of how great he was.

I glanced again at LeFou but then averted my eyes. He must have helped Gaston with his scheme. My heart sank a little bit as I realized how much LeFou must have idolized Gaston to go along with something like that. I suppose I might say I was disappointed in him.

"That night when the loony house came to take Maurice was when Gaston again asked Belle to marry him. She refused, then pulled out the mirror. I didn't see that coming. I guess you know the rest," LeFou finished.

I was slightly irritated that he refused to mention his part in helping Gaston. It was fairly obvious that he had. Still, being the passive person that I was, I couldn't bring myself to say anything. After a moment of silence I finally took a deep breath and pulled out the piece of paper I found.

"LeFou, I found this in Gaston's room. It says D'Arque. What do you know about it?" I demanded.

LeFou winced, but took it and looked at it.

"One of the men at the tavern gave it to me to give to Gaston," he mumbled.

"That's it?" I whispered.

LeFou paused, but then responded:

"Yeah."

I was fairly quickly becoming disappointed. Was LeFou really lying to me? Of course I was investigating what had happened to his best friend, maybe he had something to hide. When somebody goes missing, almost everybody has something to hide. But didn't LeFou realize how transparent he really was?

I knew D'Arque had something to do with Gaston's scheme, but I still couldn't think of what. Looking back, I must've been really stupid for not realizing. I figured out D'Arque was a name, yet I failed to make the connection. I must've been distracted by LeFou's poor character showing through.

"D'ya want me to knock?" asked LeFou when we arrived at the door.

"Sure," I answered, still not looking him in the eyes.

He pounded on the door. There was no answer. We both stood on there for a moment in silence. LeFou knocked again, but still no answer.

"He must be with Belle," I muttered.

I jiggled the handle, but it was locked. LeFou just glanced at me but didn't say anything. I frowned, wanting to investigate inside but feeling conflicted on if I should break in or not.

"Now what?" asked LeFou.

"We find what happened to Belle," I muttered, looking around.

I started to walk down the stairs, but tripped over my own feet. I grabbed LeFou and we both fell to the ground. I hit my head on the ground, but quickly stood up after realizing I had landed on LeFou's feet. I got up and dusted myself off, feeling very embarrassed. LeFou sat up, blinking.

"I am so sorry!" I exclaimed, taking a step backwards only to almost fall again.

LeFou stared at me a moment, then started laughing.

"You're clumsier than I am!" he said between laughs.

I beamed at that and he stood up. He looked right past me and I turned around to see what his gaze was on. There were two little doors that must lead to the basement. I immediately walked over and tried to open them. Sure enough, they opened.

"Come on!" I exclaimed to LeFou, excited at my luck.

He followed me into Belle's basement and we looked around together.

"What are we looking for?" asked LeFou.

"Just anything unusual. If we don't find anything then we'll head upstairs."

After a few moments LeFou called me.

"Is that one of Maurice's inventions?" he asked me.

I stared at the machine. Well, actually, it was more like parts of a machine. My guess was that it had once been put together but met some unfortunate circumstance. I frowned at the ax laying among the parts.

"This is interesting," I said, picking it up.

"Did the old man use this on Gaston!?" LeFou burst out, still with murder on the mind.

"No, there's no way this thing had gone to the castle and back," I murmured.

"Gosh, we should head upstairs," suggested LeFou.

I followed him up and realized that we must be in the kitchen. I walked over to the parlor in front of the front door. Suddenly, the door opened, and in walked Maurice.

At the time, I wasn't sure if his entrance was the best of luck, or the worst of luck.
