Chapter 6: Falling in Love

A/N: wow thanks everyone for all the reviews, they made me very happy. I won't be able to update until the weekend now because I've got loads of school work to do, I may be able to update sooner if I have any spare time.

As much as I'd love to I do not own Danny Jones

I woke up to the usual sound of my alarm clock. I threw my pillow at it hoping it would shut it up. My attempt failed. I climbed out of bed and switched it off myself. I really don't want to get up. I'm so tired; I didn't sleep very well last night.

I did my normal morning routine and when I was showered and dressed I headed downstairs to get some breakfast.

There he was, Danny Jones himself sitting at my kitchen table.

"Morning," he said folding up his newspaper.

I grunted in reply and grabbed an apple out of the fruit bowl.

"Somebody got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning," Danny chuckled.

"I didn't get a lot of sleep last night," I replied flatly biting into my apple.

"Oh, well we better get going, we don't want to be late for school do we," Danny said standing up.

I shrugged and picked up my school bag. Danny followed me out into the hallway.

"Bye mum," I called as Danny opened the front door.

"Bye sweetheart," my mum shouted from the living room.

I followed Danny out into the street and shut the door behind me.

I pulled my I-pod out of my bag as we walked down the road. I switched it on and waited for it to start up. It bleeped at me and cut out. I groaned and threw it back into my bag.

"What's up?" Danny asked.

"Battery died," I mumbled.

"Looks like you'll have to talk to me then," Danny said grinning widely.

"Oh joy," I muttered.

Danny just laughed.

"Alright then," I said, "what do you want to talk about?"

"Anything," Danny replied happily.

I nodded and Danny started talking. I wasn't really listening. I wasn't really on the planet yet.

When we arrived at school I said goodbye to Danny and quickly hurried off before Ruby saw me. I do not want a repeat of the 'stairs incident'.

I entered the main building and went to my locker. I opened the door and pulled out my textbooks. Something was missing. Where's my notebook?

I pulled out all my other school books and threw them on the floor. My notebook was gone! It should be here. I swear I left it here. I'm not going crazy I did leave it here.

The bell rang breaking through my thoughts. I gathered my stuff off the floor and chucked it back into my locker. I slammed the door shut and ran off to registration.

Where the hell is my book? Maybe I did leave it at home. Maybe I'm going crazy and overacting. I was so sure I'd left it here.

At sat down at the back of the class in my usual seat. I can believe my book is gone. Anyone could have it. That thought sent a shiver down my spine. I have to find it before somebody else gets their hands on it.

The rest of my morning passed like a blur. I couldn't concentrate and I didn't get any work done. I walked in a daze towards the lunch room. As I passed the girls toilet I heard a noise that made my stop in my tracks. Somebody was crying.

I looked over at the door debating whether I should go in or not. The door had been left open slightly. I could see someone leaning against the sinks. It was Ruby. Her best friend Katie was standing next to her wiping her face with a tissue. I wonder what's up. My common sense was telling me to walk away. So for once I listened and walked off.

As I walked down the corridor a girl ran up to me and handed me a letter.

"I was asked to give it to you," she said and ran off again.

I looked down at the letter and ripped it open. It said,

Meet me in the music room

Danny x

I shoved my letter into my bag and hurried out of the building. I ran down to the music block receiving weird looks as I passed people on the way.

When I arrived at the music block it looked deserted. I could hear faint music coming from the classroom. I pushed open the door and found Danny sitting on one of the tables playing a guitar. He looked up when I walked in.

"Erm…I got your message," I said.

"Yeah, I need to talk to you," he replied setting his guitar down.

"About what exactly?" I asked.

"Erm…I broke up with Ruby," Danny said looking down at his feet.

"That must be why she was crying in the toilet," I mumbled.

Danny looked up,

"She was crying in the toilet?"

"Yeah, I saw her on my way here."

"Oh, well we said we'd still be friends and everything."

"Look Danny as much as your love life really interests me, is there a point to all of this?"

I wish he'd just spit out what he's trying to say.

"Ok, look just let me say what I have to say and then you can say what you want," Danny said nervously. I sat down on the table next to him.

"I'm listening," I said.

"Anna, I really like you, I love the way you don't care about what other people say, I love the way you walk around in your own little world and I love how you're so different to the other girls," Danny said taking hold on my hands, "I know we haven't been best friends over the years but please give me a chance, will you be my girlfriend?"

I was shocked and stunned.

"No," I whispered.

"What?" Danny replied dropping my hands.

"I'm sorry Danny I really am, I just can't do this right now," I stammered. My eyes were filling up.

"What's wrong?" Danny said softly.

"My notebooks gone," I replied and burst into tears.

Danny pulled me closer to him and hugged me tightly.

"It's ok, don't worry, it's just a notebook, it'll turn up," he murmured rubbing my back.

"You don't understand," I sobbed, "if somebody finds it I am officially screwed."

"Why? What's in it?" Danny asked.

"It doesn't matter, I have to find it before the wrong people get their hands on it," I replied pulling away from him.

"Ok, well have you thought maybe you left it at home?" Danny suggested.

"I might have, but I swear I left it here in my locker," I replied wiping my tears away.

"When did you leave it here?"

"A couple of days ago."

"Anna I don't think anyone took it, nobody's been here after school for the last two nights apart from the dance class in the gym, when I came to pick Ruby up all the main buildings were locked, nobody would have been able to get in."

"Ruby was here after school!"

"Yeah at her dance class."

"She must have taken it, Danny this is really bad, she cannot get her hands on that book."

I started crying again. I am so screwed.

"Hey, calm down it's going to be ok," Danny said pulling me back into his arms.

"How is it going to be ok?" I exclaimed, "The whole situation sucks beyond belief."

"Look, I know it's going to be hard, but why don't you try and forget about the book for a while, it'll turn up eventually," Danny said kissing the top of my head.

"What am I suppose to do in the mean time?" I said looking up into Danny's bright blue eyes.

"Well prom's coming up soon; will you be my date for the night?" Danny replied smiling his beautiful smile.

"I don't know, I wasn't planning on going," I said felling bad as Danny's smile turned to a frown.

"We can go as just friends if that's want you're trying to say," Danny suggested.

"It's not that, its just I don't have anything to wear," I replied.

"We can sort that out," Danny grinned.

"Danny the prom is next Friday, I only have six days to find something decent," I exclaimed.

"You could go in your jeans and a t-shirt and I wouldn't care," Danny shrugged.

"As much as I'd want to I couldn't, oh my mum's going to love this, dress shopping, it'll be a dream come true," I said jumping down off the table.

Danny just laughed.

The bell rang making us both jump.

"I guess we better get going," I said picking up my bag.

"Yeah, erm…I'll meet you by the gate after school, we could walk home together," Danny said opening the classroom door for me.

"Yeah ok," I replied walking out into the corridor.

Danny smiled and followed me out of the music block.

"So I'll see you later then," Danny said as we reached the point where we had to go our separate ways.

"Yeah, see you then," I said and waved.

Danny leant towards me and kissed me on the cheek.

"I never agreed to be you girlfriend," I reminded him.

"I know," Danny said grinning widely.

"Then why…?" I stuttered.

"I just felt like it," Danny replied, "anyways we better get a move on or we'll be late, see you later."

Before I could even reply Danny had walked off to his next lesson.

I can't believe he just kissed me on the cheek. Stupid boy… man… thing.

I better get a move on or I'll be late for history. I chucked my jacket into my bag and hurried off to the main building.
