A/N: Hey! Sorry I haven't updated, I was really busy (as always)... Everyone seems to want to have this story updated so I'll update it now.

Enjoy!

Lucy was trying to get over the fact that Natsu Dragneel had just asked her out to the school dance just yesterday.

Even throughout the entire afternoon after he did she was seriously replaying the events that had just happened.

She felt her face heating up again as she remembered what exactly had happened.

"I was going to ask you to the dance, but—"

The blonde had gasped and was pretty sure she was beet red. She felt her cheeks were seriously on fire, being really hot.

"Calm down, Lucy, its not like he's madly in love with you or anything." Lucy told herself after shaking her head for the tenth time. But that event kept on jumping inside of her head, and the blonde felt heat rush to her face again.

Natsu asked me to the dance.

Lucy fanned herself once more as she stared into nothingness, daydreaming once more.

Natsu Dragneel, the most popular student in the school, asked me to the dance.

The blonde's mind was now whirling as she staggered down the path that led back to her house, which was a bit nearby.

He asked me...

But Lucy managed to take a shaky breath before trying to convince herself that he only liked her as a friend, because how on earth would Natsu Dragneel like her?

She squeezed her eyes shut and told herself to calm down. Her heart was pounding so hard that the blonde could hear it.

She pulled out her water bottle and drank it, cooling her down. Lucy touched her face again, it was still really warm.

"Lu-chan!"

Lucy turned around to face Levy, who was grinning.

"What's up, Levy-chan? Anything good?" Lucy asked her friend, inwardly telling herself to calm down before the bluenette had noticed her expression.

"GREAT!" Levy bubbled excitedly, a blush spreading out through her face. She whispered, "Gajeel asked me to the dance!"

Once she had finished, Lucy grinned and squealed along with her friend, who was hugging her tightly.

"So did anything happen with you, Lu-chan? Are you still not going anymore?" Levy asked, sadness in her eyes. "It would've been fun even if you came without a date."

"Actually..." She looked around just in case anybody was listening. Then she whispered, "Natsu asked me out."

She then stood back once more, her cheeks flushed, while Levy was gawking at her. Then she grinned and laughed while hugging Lucy once more.

"I TOLD YOU!" Levy giggled happily.

"Levy, quiet down, I don't want to attract attention!" Lucy muttered, looking down, feeling embarrassed. She couldn't help but smile though.

Levy quieted down, but she was still grinning. "When?"

"Yesterday, after school."

"oooooh, someone's going to have a good time at the dance!" Levy giggled.

"Levy-chan!" Lucy said, her face red once more as the bluenette continued on laughing happily.

"Then, it's settled!" Levy grinned. "We're going!"

After school had ended, Lucy had hurried home to get ready quickly. It wouldn't be a good impression if she showed up late and left Natsu waiting.

The dance was ballroom-themed, so that girls could dress in flowing gowns and guys could dress in suits.

She had took a bath and climbed out while humming a song to express her excitement.

Shortly before, Lucy had went with her friends to pick a dress and chose one that was simple yet elegant; a red dress with no sleeves and a v-neck.

She tried it on when she went shopping and it was a perfect fit. It wasn't that pricey either, she had enough to buy matching shoes and accessories.

Once again, she sighed as she put on the dress and stared at her reflection in the mirror. Lucy smiled as she twirled around and saw the dress moving along with her figure.

She touched the fabric and smiled. This dress really was perfect.

Then Lucy grabbed a red ribbon and placed it in her signature hairstyle, her side ponytail. She then put on a silver bracelet with a matching necklace.

Lucy stared at her reflection, almost not recognizing herself.

"You can do this, Lucy." She told herself.

The blonde put on her red heels and grabbed her purse after bidding Plue farewell. She had placed her ticket inside her purse, so she wasn't worried about her admission.

Then she ran out, and saw that Levy was already there, waiting for her excitedly outside her house.

The bluenette was stunning. She wore a light blue dress with sleeves, but there was a white ribbon at her waist. She was wearing a white pearl necklace and blue heels with a white purse. Her hair was done her usual way, except she was wearing a white headband with a matching ribbon on it.

She hadn't put makeup on at all, like Lucy.

The two girls smiled at each other, and they hugged.

"Ready, Lu-chan?" Levy said, smiling.

"Ready!" Lucy grinned back, feeling excited and nervous at the same time.

They had arrived at the school, and there were already many students there, all dressed up and either with friends or dates.

Lucy checked her phone, and the time was 6:00. They were on time, luckily.

The blonde scanned the crowd nervously, looking for Natsu. It appeared that he probably was in the gym already, where the dance was being held.

"Oh, Lucy, Levy." A voice then said. The two of them turned to face Erza, who was smiling at them, Wendy next to her also grinning.

"Erza, Wendy!" The two of them said, hugging them both happily.

"Did Jellal ask you?" Lucy asked, curiously as she studied the scarlet-haired girl.

Erza didn't say anything, but Lucy saw that she was blushing. "Um... Er..." She seemed to have overheated and was now clutching the folds of her dress nervously.

"Yes, he did." Wendy replied for her. "And... Romeo-san..." She too turned red at the thought of the teenaged boy.

Both Lucy and Levy had now started laughing at the girls' embarrasment.

"Come on, our dates are waiting!" Lucy laughed as she pulled the three of them inside the gym after they had turned in their tickets.

"They're late."

Natsu checked his watch, which now read 6:10.

Both him, Gray, Gajeel, and Jellal were standing against the wall, nervously waiting for their dates to come.

"So you did ask Lucy, didn't you?" Gray said, smirking as he stared at his friend who was checking his watch every minute.

"Yeah. So? She said yes, and we're friends already." Natsu said, a light blush on his face. "You asked Juvia."

"That was because she kept looking at me... And stalking me... So eventually I asked her and she was so happy she was literally clinging to me." Gray said.

"But you like her."

Gray didn't reply; it seemed as if he didn't hear him because of the music through the speakers.

Natsu couldn't help but laugh, leading the raven-haired teen to look at him weirdly.

Then Jellal crossed his arms as they all continued waiting. "They should be here by now..."

Gajeel humphed, but opened one eye.

Natsu's heart nearly stopped, but he quietly urged himself that he could do this. He was friends with Lucy, so he should be used to her plenty now.

Right?

The dance was pretty elegant and modern in a way. There was a chocolate fountain and piles of fruits beside it. There were also sandwhiches presented neatly at the table which made the gym look like a ballroom. There was a chandelier that they put to go to the theme, but there was also a DJ playing requests, which was kinda strange.

It didn't seem to fit in with the theme in a way, but it did somehow.

Then a voice alerted him.

"Sorry we're late, everyone."

He looked up, curious, and realized he was staring into the eyes of Lucy. She was wearing a red dress with matching heels and a ribbon in her hair. She had a silver bracelet and a matching necklace, and she was smiling.

He gaped at her, momentarily forgetting how to breathe. Then he cleared his throat and managed a grin. "Hey Luce!"

"Hi Natsu," Lucy said, grinning and coming over to grasp his shoulders as she studied him.

Natsu thought he was just wearing normal clothing (to him it seemed) and was wearing a white buttoned long sleeve dress shirt with a black vest and black pants with matching dress shoes (and don't forget his scarf).

"You look good!" Lucy laughed. "Why aren't you saying anything?"

Natsu blinked. "You look good too, Luce. I like... Uh... Your dress."

He thought he saw a slight blush on her face.

"You two, kiss already!" Gray laughed and pushed the two of them towards each other, resulting Lucy to fall straight onto Natsu which a yelp of surprise, leading her to trip over his foot.

Natsu had to catch Lucy to make sure that she didn't fall, which caused Lucy's arms to wrap around his waist and him to hug her back.

Natsu blinked, as Lucy stared back at him, her face red.

He grinned though, despite Lucy almost falling onto the floor.

"Got ya Luce." He smiled, as the blonde seemed like she was about to faint.

Natsu trailed his eyes over to Gray, who was laughing along with Levy. They high fived and stared at Natsu, who stuck his tongue at the both of them.

Lucy smiled as she stepped back and held her arms out.

Natsu looked at her, confused. "What are you doing?"

"Come on, Natsu. It's a dance."

"And...?"

Lucy burst out laughing. "So we dance, obviously!"

"I can't dance!" Natsu panicked. "It looks so complicated, with you having to step all over the place... And all the arms moving... It looks like we're an octopus!"

Lucy blinked, but she kept her smile. "That's a really odd way of dancing. It's not that hard, you just hold your arms like this..."

She positioned her right hand on his shoulder and the other in his hand. Her fingers felt soft. Lucy grabbed his hand and put it on her waist and smiled in satification.

"But..." Natsu stammered.

Then they started to slowly waltz onto the floor, at first slowly, and then picking up some more speed.

"Come on, you should know how to, right? Look, even Gajeel can!" They then looked at both Gajeel and Levy, who were nearby, dancing.

Immediately Natsu felt a wave of resentment wash over him. "Come on, Luce, we could dance better than them!"

"Eh?" Lucy blinked as Natsu twirled her around as they were now next to Gajeel and Levy.

"Hey metal-head! I challenge you to a dancing contest!" Natsu yelled defiantly, pointing a finger at him.

Gajeel laughed. "Think you can beat me, Salamander? Try again! Let's go, Shrimp!"

"What?!" Levy exclaimed as then they both stared dancing once more.

"Let me get in on this too!" Gray grinned as he waltzed over with Juvia. He spun the blunette around as both of them danced some more.

"Gray-samaaaa!" Juvia swooned.

Pretty soon, everyone had started to watch the six of them as they were then battling to see who could dance the best, even in heels and tuxedos.

It wasn't much a ballroom themed dance anymore, now it was a dance war...

But Lucy had to admit that it was pretty fun. The entire time she was laughing as she and Natsu actually danced pretty well, them twirling around and stopping from time to time and clapping and everything.

Levy looked like she enjoyed dancing with Gajeel, her smiling and Gajeel laughing heartily.

Gray and Juvia seemed the same as well, all of them clapping their hands and twirling each other around.

Everyone else seemed to have a great time watching them. At the corner of her eye, Lucy saw Wendy and Romeo clapping together while laughing.

Erza and Jellal were also smiling as they looked on.

It didn't seem like a ballroom dance anymore, since now the boys were showing off their moves while the girls were following.

All in all, it was a strange competition, but then they all stopped at the same time with a finishing move.

Then everyone whooped, cheered, and whistled for the 'dance war' and then continued on doing their own stuff, some giggling about their performances.

Panting slightly, Lucy grinned as they both stood up again as their normal position.

"That was fun." Lucy admitted.

"Wasn't it? You're actually a pretty good dancer in heels, Luce." Natsu grinned down at his friend as they continued to waltz slowly once more, staring into each other's eyes.

"You dance pretty good too, Natsu! I thought you said that you couldn't dance." Lucy laughed.

"Well, not ballroom dancing... What we did right now for the competition wasn't much of ballroom dancing... so..." Natsu said nervously, looking away.

"You still can dance better than I can."

"No, Luce, you're actually a pretty good dancer too! Maybe I can give you lessons!"

"Really? I'd like that, but I wouldn't want to break my back."

Natsu then laughed as the two of them continued dancing gracefully, swaying from side to side. "You're funny, Luce."

At this, she turned red and smiled. "You're cool too, Natsu."

They continued dancing some more, and Lucy loved how they were in their own little world right now, with no one to bother them at all as they chatted.

She was suddenly happy that she came to the dance with him.

"Luce, you hungry? I'll get you something to eat. A sandwhich?" Natsu asked her, still grinning.

"Ah, thanks, Natsu, sure." Lucy smiled. "I'll just wait for you here."

"Sounds like a plan! See ya!" Natsu waved as he jogged to the refreshments table.

Lucy smiled as this day was going well so far. But then someone grabbed her wrist. She whirled around, shocked and a bit off-guard, and found that she was staring into the eyes of Sting Eucliffe.

"Hey Lucy." Sting smiled down at her.

"You!" Lucy gasped, trying to get her wrist out of his grasp. But he held on, and he put a finger on her chin and tilted her face upwards.

"What's a little fairy doing by herself? Did your date ditch you?" Sting smiled. "You know, you could always be with me."

"What are you doing here! You're... You're in Saber High!" Lucy grimaced.

Sting smiled and laughed, as her words to him seemed humorous. "You see, Lucy, Saber High students can go to Fairy Academy's school activities too, you know."

Lucy's eyes widened.

"Because we're technically from the same branch, right?" Sting smiled, his face getting closer to the other blonde's.

Lucy raised her other hand to hit him, but Sting blocked it and smiled some more. "Come on Lucy. Don't you want to hang with us?"

Natsu, help me! Lucy pleaded as she squeezed her eyes shut.

"Hey asshole."

Both of them glanced at the direction of the voice, which was behind them.

And there stood Natsu, with a plate and two sandwhiches piled on top of it. His eyes were narrowed dangerously, and his teeth were gritted together.

"Natsu!" Lucy sobbed.

Natsu handed the plate to her, which Lucy took gingerly as he walked to the other blonde, who was grinning nastily.

Natsu stared at Sting straight in the eye as he muttered the following words, his fists clenched and his nose inches away from the other teen's, who stood his ground.

"She's mine."
