Chapter 6
Into the shinobi life
Last time:
Naruto watch Hinata and Ino talk about baby stuff and he couldn't help but think that the next years will bring a lot of good moments, not only for him and his family, but for all of his friends as well, he created a clne and send him to buy dinner while he went to get the children ready for dinner.
And now we return to our story:
After 4 long years in school the moment that Shinji and Kushina have been waiting has arrive, after 4 years of hard days of training and long nights of studding the moment the two were waiting has finally arrive, today they will be able to take the graduation exam and if they pass it they will become genins.
Shinji remember everything that he has live in the past years, a couple of weeks ago the teachers in the academy have informed all the children in the different classes that the exams will be held in a couple of weeks, and that anyone in that wasn't in their senior year could take the exam if they wanted. Of course Hinji and Kushina immediately sign up for the exam along with their friends Tonka, Tali, Itachi, Hayate and Ryoga and some other kids from other classes, but despite this the teachers only consider that Kushina, Itachi and Shinji were the only ones of their generation capable of becoming genins right now, but all of them were given a chance to because you never knew when someone could surprise you.
Since the first day that Kushina and Shinji start school and training they had work really hard to get stronger, they have really strong reasons to became stronger, Shinji because he have the responsibility to save his world, and by doing that save the other universes, and Kushina because she wanted to be able to help Shinji with this enormous task.
During these years they had been train by many people in many different things that they will need as shinobis in their lives, they start with the training regimen that Naruto and the others had place them, but as time pass and they get stronger they get new classes and senseis.
Sakura and Karin had train them in chakra control, they had started with simple exercises as balancing leaves in their fingers or forehead, and move to more complex ones like the tree and water walking. At first the kids complain saying that this was boring and a waste of time, but after Sakura hit them with a mild chakra enhance punch they stop complaining and always behave.
After they master the water walking exercise it came the turn of Shizune, and with the help of Ino they teach the kids first aids and the basics of medicine and anatomy, so they would be able to treat some of the injuries they could suffer in the future. They also teach them how to use different plants to make medicines and poisons so they would know how to debilitate or incapacitate their targets more efficiently, or in case they need it to kill someone.
Chouiji and Rock Lee where the ones in charge of training them physically, with them the kids would have to run several kilometers, do hundreds or thousands of pushups, jumps other exercises until they couldn't move any more, and despite this training could be consider brutal for the kids they never complain, not after Rock Lee had threatened to give them green latex suit like the one he wears so their flames of youth could burn as bright as his, that was all that take for the kids to stop complaining about the training. But not everything was perfect for the kids, they still have to bear Lee shouting about youth while doing strange poses, but they were at least glad that he didn't do the fear genjutsu of waves breaking in the beach that they had hear he was capable of do.
Chouji also introduce them to the world of food critic, he take them to several restaurant and make them not only enjoy the food, but to recognize the different flavors of the many ingredients in one dish and how they combine to make knew flavors. Kushina was really please with the part of going to different restaurants to eat but struggle a little with the part of recornizing the ingredients and flavors, but Shinji was a different story, he clearly have talent for recognizing flavors and a deep love for food and cooking, so he also give him cooking lessons.
They have also learned various taijutsus styles from them and others, Lee teach them the goken when he seem they were physical fit for it. They also learn the gentel fist from Hinata and Hanabi although Shinji just learn the basic stands and movements. Naruto teach them a version of the frog Kata that didn't require senjutsu to use, but that it was similar enough for them to learn the real deal if they ever get to train in senjutsu.
They also learn high society ethic and manners from Haishi but didn't get any of the snobbish attitude, Naruto made sure of this. Haishi also teach them the back stabbing science known as politics, since they were the son and daughter of the Hokage and will need this as the heirs of the Uzumaki /Hyuga combine clans.
Tenten had teach them how to throw shurikens and kunais with precise aiming, at first they would practice with stationary targets, but as time pass Tenten change to moving targets and even to try to hit the targets while she throw them real kunais and shurikens. She also teach them to use other weapons such as katanas, nun-chunks, spears and others until they were proficient with them. She also teached them how to maintain their weapons and use them in other more creative and destructives ways (such as putting explosives tags at kunais).
Shikamaru and Naruto use the books and every material that Kami bring to teach them about the history, costumes and technology of Shinji's world so they could blend when they go there to fight the angels.
Also to help them in their mission Temari convince Shikamaru to help her teach had decide to teach them strategy and develop their tactical analysis, they would tell the kids famous battles, and latter put them through some fictional scenarios to see what they would do, at the beginning all of their responses to this scenarios get them kill, but after threatening them to ban ramen from their lives if they commit so many rookies mistakes, they quickly put their brains to find solutions that didn't get them kill, and didn't take ramen out of their lives.
They also receive survival and tracking training from the Inuzukas and Aburames for the time that they will have to use these abilities. Sai also start to teach the kids calligraphy so they could draw seals for fuinjutsu with ease latter, and while they think they classes were as bore as hell they show great potential for it, but it wasn't until Kushina saw some of his drawings that things got interesting.
Flashback one year ago
Shinji and Kushina were doing some calligraphy exercises in Sai's studio while he was painting, they had been studding with him for a year, they mostly do calligraphy exercises and after that Sai teached them the basic forms for fuinjutsu, that is when his daughter Deiji come into the studiowith a piece of paper.
"Look at what I draw daddy, it's a flower!"
Sai lift his daughter and sit her in his lap. "Okay Deiji leet me see it, oh yes, it's a really nice drawing of a really beautiful flower. You really have talent for drawing."
"You really think daddy? Then are you going to teach me how to draw like you do, and then make my drawings come to life?" asked an exited Deiji.
"Of course Nabiki, I will teach you how to draw, but you will have to wait a few years before you have the chakra necessary to make them move." Answer Sai.
"Sensei, can we see Deiji's drawing?" asked Kushina.
"Of course Kushina." And then Sai show them Deiji's drawing.
The kids watch with interest the drawing, it was a really good drawing of a daisy, with petals of many different colors, it was a pretty good drawing for a 3 year old, especially considering that it was made with crayons.
"It really is a great drawing Deiji! It's an amazing painting! You really have talent!" said an amaze Kushina.
"It shows that she has sensei's talent as well." Said Shinji.
"Wait, what do you mean Shinji? Does sensei also paints with crayons?" asked a confuse Kushina.
Sinji, Sai and even Deiji face palm at this, apparently Kushina ignore that Sai's hobby was painting and that all the paintings in his house werepainted by him.
"Onee-san, every picture in Sai-sensei's house was painted by him, didn't you realize that sometimes when we were practicing he is drawing?" asked a confuse Shinji.
Kushina answer with a confuse tone. "Is that what he does? I always he was either doing the same exercise or writing something boring."
After this Sai start to laugh lightly, "ja ja, You are just like your father, ignoring anything around you that isn't it's true what Shinji said about me is true Kushina, Idid paint all paints in this house, and even some of the paintings in your house."
"Wow! Really sensei? Can you teach how to paint? Please!?" plead Kushina.
But before Sai could answer Deiji interrupted them with authority. "No! daddy is going to teachme how to draw first, then if he has some time to spare he can teach you."
"EH!? But I really want to learn how to paint! Please Sai-sensei teach me how to paint!" begged Kushina.
"And I told you that he is going to teach me only, so go and find yourself another drawing sensei." Respond an annoyed Deiji.
That is when Sai intervened. "Okay you two calm down, there is no reason for you two to fight, I can teach you both how to draw, but don´t expect I go easy on you two, Deiji not because I'm your father I will not be strict with you, and Kushina, you will still have to attend to your calligraphy classes.
"Hai Sensei/father." The both replied.
"And what about you Shinji, do you want to learn how to draw?"
"Thanks Sensei, but while I like to watch to your paintings I don't think I'm capable of drawing like you."
"Well it takes years of practice to be able to paint like that, but if you don't have the desire and passion to learn to paint then we to found you something that you would love to do, so that you don't feel left out."
After that Kushina start to take drawing classes with Deiji, they were really excited about that. Meanwhile Shinji had some problems of his own, while he support that his sister learn how to draw it leave him with some free time, Sai talk to Naruto about it and they had they idea of making Shinji take some art classes, unfortunately for Shinji every class he tried didn't feel right, he had tried sculpture, dancing, flower pressing, tea ceremony, until he take music classes, that's when he discover that like with cooking music was one of his life passions, specifically playing the chelo.
End of flashback
Also Deiji was not the only one that had seen Kushina and Shinji training and had asked their parents to train them as well, Itachi, had seen Sakura and Karin train them and had also asked to train with them and after they finish all the chakra control exercises Sasuke start to train them in ninjutsu, while Sakura teach them taijutsu and Karin teach them genjutsu.
Tonka had been present for some of the scenarios that they give to Kushina and Shinji, and immediately she was hooked and actively participating, it was not a surprise that she was really good solving these scenarios, after all she is the daughter of two skill tacticians. she had also asked her parents to let her participate in these classes, she also asked them to train her which Temari quickly accepted and Shikamaru just complain, but after a couple of weeks she regretted asking, it turns out that her mother was a slave driver and after every training session she ended exhausted.
Also Tali, Ryoga and start to train with their respective clans when they heard that all their friends were getting, they didn't want to be left behind, but Kushina and Shinji already had start training years ago, so they had to put more effort if they wanted to reach their level.
Shinji was thinking all this when Kushina take him out of his thoughts, "hey Shinji aren't you exited that we are going to become genins already!"
"First you need to pass the exam Kushina-san" said Itachi in his usual stoic voice.
"Don't be a party crasher Itachi, besides you are taking the exam with us!" respond Ryoga.
In a classroom were waiting all the students that were going to take the exam, most of them were the students of the third grade, at age 12 this was the last chance that they had to become genins, but there were also students of the other grades, Shinji and his classmates were in one corner talking waiting for the exam to start.
"Yeah Itachi, besides you are doing the exam with us, so show some more exitement? Or you are so calm because you are sure that you are going to pass the exam easily? Ask Tali.
"I'm not nervous because I have realistic expectations of this exam." Answer calmly Itachi.
"What do you mean Itachi?" asked Shinji.
"What I mean is that while I'm confident in my abilities to pass this exam, I'm also conscious that since this is our first year in academy we still have other two years to become genins, so in the case I don't pass the exam I still can use this experience to familiarize with the exam and be ready for the next year." Reasoned Itachi.
So that is why you are so calm, you are seeing this exam as an opportunity to scout for future exams, but you are still going to try to pass the exam, so any result is in your favor.
"Oh, that is quite smart Itachi, no doubt you are going to ace this exam and become rookie of the year."
They continue their conversation when Iruka enter the classroom and everyone stand up and bow respectfully.
Iruka also bow to show his respect and start talking. "I'm glad to see so many young teens eager to become shinobis of the leave, and to see that this generation has so much potential to become great ones, and who knows maybe a couple of you will even reach the level of legendary shinobies like the Sannins or the Hokages, but don't think that once you become genins your lives will become all glamorous and easy, you will still have to work hard to get stronger and protect everyone precious to you. With that been said I wish you the best of lucks in the exam.
With that Iruka exit the classroom and let the proctors start the exam. The first part of the exam was a written exam that consisted of several questions to test their knowledge of all that they learn in the years before entering the academy as well as the shinobi related subjects they have in the academy, none of the kids have any real trouble to answer the exam and they all finish with some minutes to spare.
The next part of the exam was the weapons part, the children were ask to hit several stationary and moving targets with shurikens and kunais in a period of two minutes, giving them points depending on the difficulty of the target they hit and adding them all at the end, while this test was a little more difficult and show the difference in skills the children had, nobody was surprise that Itachi, Kushina and Shinji were ranked as the top three students, but they were surprise when Itachi only focus on the hardest targets and hit them with deadly accuracy, crushing the previous record.
They also were asked to use any close combat weapon they chose and demonstrate how skillful they were by facing a dummy, almost everyone chose the katana and only showing a basic use of it, Kushina chose tonfas, Itachi a kodachi and Shinji boo staff most and the three of them demonstrate far superior skills that anyone else.
Then it came the taijutsu part of the exam, each student had to fight one of the teachers to demonstrate the level of taijutsu they had, while the clan kids use their family taijutsus the civilian kids mostly use the academy taijutsu.
The last part of the exam was the ninjutsu, first they were asked to do the three basic jutsus that they learn when they enter the school, the henge, the bunshin and the substitution, as well as putting the children under easy to break genjutsu so they could dispel it, in adition to this the teachers also asked them to perform at least other three D ranked jutsus that they have chose to learn throw their years in the academy.
At the end of the test most of the children that had taken the exam had pass it, of the 38 children that presented the exam 27 had pass the exam, and of the 11 children that didn't pass only 4 were on their last year, meaning that since this was their last chance to take the exam they have no other option than to become civilians.
Kushina, Tonka, Shinji and Itachi had all pass the exam, not that it was a surprise for anyone, and they even get the highest scores in the exam since Naruto reform the school system. Their friends Tali, Ryoga and Hayate had make a decent job during the exam, but their scores barely let them pass, which make the teachers hold them in school for another year so they could increase their level and abilities so they would be ready to become genins next year.
After the teachers gave the results and give the students that pass their headbands they told the kids that pass to return to the academy in one week for the assignation of their teams. After this Kushina, Tonka, Shinji and Itachi were to celebrate with their families, meanwhile Tali, Hayate and Tyoga promise to work harder the incoming year so they would not only pass the exam but also break the scores of their friends.
Kushina and Shinji arrive to their house to tell the good news to their parents, but they didn't found anyone, the house was completely empty and all the lights were off.
"Where is everyone?" asked Shinji.
"I don't know, they knew we were taking the exam today, and mom and dad seem really excited about it and were already preparing to celebrate in the morning." Answer Kushina.
Kushina keep searching the house while Shinji start thinking were his family was, he state the facts, ok what is going on, mom and dad knew we were taking the exam, hell dad was really excited that we will become genins, in the morning they were already preparing a party to celebrate that we pass the exam, they will never leave without leave without telling us or leaving a message unless it is an emergency, and since nobody is here, not even the twins that will mean that they have to leave in a hurry all of them, but the only case I can think that could happen is if something happen to the twins! "Onee-chan we are leaving now!" shout Shinji.
"What is happening Shinji, do you know where everyone is?" ask Kushina.
Shinji took Kushina's hand and start dragging her to the door. "I think that nobody is home because something happen to the twins and mom and dad take them to the hospital in a rush, so we are going to the hospital to make sure if they are there or not."
But when Shinji touch the door he disappear in a cloud of smoke, leaving again an empty house. Much to Shinji and Kushina surprise they suddenly appear in a valley surrounded by giant plants and strange mountains, and in front of them was standing their family and a lot of frogs with them, and a couple of them as tall as buildings holding poster that say congratulations. "Surprise!" everyone shouted to a shocked Shinji and Kushina.
"What? Where are we and how do you know that we pass the exam?" asked a really surprise Kushina.
"We knew that you were going to pass the exam Kushina, after all you are our children. " Answer Hinata with a smile.
"Okay, but where are we, one moment we were in our house, and the next one we suddenly appear here, where ever here is." Said a still confuse Shinji.
"We are in Mount Myōboku, the home of the toad clan that are my summons, and I place a seal in our house that will bring you here so we could throw you a surprise party for you two." Now answer Naruto.
"Yeah nee-chan, nii-chan stop questioning everything and come and celebrate with us and the toads." Said a joyful Neji.
Kushina and Shinji go to their family and everyone start to congratulate them and celebrate, during the party they have cake, along with other foods, which include human food and not only l bug plates to the relieve of Naruto, the twins and some of the smaller toads, they also talk to some of them, including Ma and Pa, although that conversation quickly turn into a yelling contest between the two of them, and the twins were really entertain playing with some of the frogs. At the end of the party Naruto have one last surprise for the kids.
"Okay Kushina, Shinji come here, we have something important to say to you." Say Naruto, Hinata was at his side while Ma and Pa were resting in his shoulders and Gamakichi and Gamambuta were behind him.
Saying this Kushina and Shinji went to their parents while everybody put attention to them.
"Now that you are starting your lifes as shinobies is time we give you a special gift that will become quite handy in your life as a shinobi, something that very few shinobies have and that can be consider a family heritage since your grandfather Minato and my godfather Jiraiya had before me."
"Really? Then it must be something really amazing, what is it, a legendary weapon, a badass armor, or some mysterious artifact with incredible powers?" ask an overly exited Kushina with stars in her eyes, which make everyone laugh.
"Easy Kushina, breath, while your father was right that this is something that not many shinobies have, and that your grandfather Minato and Jiraiya-sama had is not as flashy as you think." Inform Hinata.
"Hey I resent that!" exclaim Gamakichi.
"She didn't said it in a mean way Gamakichi, don't be offended, anyway, what I want to give you is this Naruto said while Gamakichi open his mouth and use his tongue to give Naruto a scroll.
Kushina and Shinji were a really gross by this and they show it in their face, and while Shinji was a little disappointed that they were given only a giant scroll Kushina express her discontent. "NO WAY! I don't want a scroll cover in spit!"
"I think your daughter is not ready to sign the toad contract Naruto, she clearly is not impress and even disrespect the sacred scroll." State a serious Gamabunta.
"Well to be fair it is a little bit gross when you hand me something with your tongue Gamakichi." Said Naruto.
""WHAT!? Why do you say something so mean Naruto, I thought that we were friends!" said Gamakichi in a fake hurt tone.
"Ha ha ha, you truly are Jiraiya's disciple, he feel the same the first time I store something in my stomach and later gave it to gave it to him, ha ha ha, his face was priceless!" said while laughing Gamabunta.
Nooo! Please forgive me for being so rude to you, I really want to become your summoner, quick Shinji bow and ask for forgiveness with me." Exclaim Kushina while she try to force Shinji to bow.
"But you were the one that insult the toads, not me!" said Shinji while he fended against Kushina
"While all this is really funny how about we continue with these toddlers sign the toad contract, I still have to make dinner for Pa!" said Ma.
"But there are lots of leftovers Ma, can you take a break of the kitchen and use them?"
"What are you implying, that you don't like my food you old man? Besides it's not healthy for you to eat too much of this party stuff, and I can guarantee you that someone is going to eat all the leftovers before this party ends." That is when they hear some chewing coming from the table that have the food and saw Gamatatsu eating the rest of the food, everybody sweat drop at the fact that Ma was not only right but that they should expect Gamatatsu to eat the leftovers.
"Anyway Kushina, Shinji the toad sages and me are allowing you to sign the toad contract, this contract will allow you to summon toads to help you in any way you want, but it also bounds you to the toads, to form deep bonds with the toad clan that are as strong as family, also in the future the great elder toad is going to predict your future." Continue Naruto.
After he say that Ma and Pa jump from his shoulders and landed on Kushina and Shinji's heads, "Understand kids that normally for one to get the right to summon any of the biggest toads you would have to pass a test that Gamabunta will put you, but since Naruto had speek so highly of you we are going to skip that part, but you should be conscious that even if you can summon frogs, and that they would obey you, you still have to earn their respect and confidence, if you fail to do this and we the toads conclude that you are not worthy we will remove your name of the contract and you will no longer will be a summoner, understand?" Said Pa in a serious tone.
"Hai!" both kids answer also with a serious tone.
"It's good you understand, now Naruto could you please open the scroll." Said Ma.
Naruto proceed to open the scroll in front of the kids and elders then Ma continue, " to become a toad summoner first you have to write your name in this scroll with your blood and then place your fingerprints at the bottom."
Both kids bite their thumbs and proceed to write their names, once they finish Pa continue, "good, now wath you have to do is mold your chakra and make the hand signs that would allow you to summon a toad, you have to remember that the more chakra you put into the summoning a bigger the toad will be summon, now Naruto will show you the hand signs other day."
"Why can't we learn them now? Or is this some kind of rule?" ask a confuse Shinji.
"That is because we are in the toads realm, and trying to summon a toad here will do nothing or in the worst of the cases it will send you to another summons realm." Answer Gamabunta.
"Also it will be best for you that when I teach you the hand signs and do them you can summon a toad so you can get use to how much chakra you need for this jutsu." Add Naruto.
"Oh, okay, then what is next?" ask Kushina.
"Well now we keep partying, and tomorrow you can learn the signs to summon." Said Hinata.
"Yeah party!" shout the twins.
And with that they all continue to parting until the sun began to set down.
One week later.
Kushina and Shinji were waiting in the academy with the rest of the kids that had passed the exam, they were all waiting for the teacher to come and tell them their genin team and their sensei.
Kushina and Shinji had spend the last week practicing the summoning jutsu, in their first tries they couldn't summon a toad, but instead a tadpole, but after Naruto tell them that they weren't using enough chakra, after that they had no problems to summon real toads, they had summon the toads that will become their familiars, Kushina summon a cherry red toad the size of a basketball with black tribal lines in his back, she was as hyperactive as Kushina and after a lot of squealing from Kushina and saying the toad was really cute they learn that she was name Gamaishi, and was a distant relative of Gamachiki and Gamabunta, she also was one of the few toads that train in medical jutsus, which make Naruto fell a lot more relieve since she could heal his daughter if she ever need it.
Shinji's familiar was name Gekido and was something that Naruto have never seen before, at least not in one frog, he suffer from a rare disease that cause his skin to develop hard budges (no pun intended), he have two of them at the top of his head that despite being small look similar to horns, he had purple skin and red eyes, this was also a symptom of his disease which cause him to black out whenever he fell a lot of hatred, despair or other negative emotions and go berserker with rage until he couldn't move more, this also prevent him from learning senjutsu. He live isolated from other toads fearing that if one day he lose control he will kill someone, he also tried to convince Shinji to never summon him again and even threatened him, but Shinji said that he wouldn't abandoned him and that together they will find a way to control his emotions.
The door of the classroom open and the teacher enter. "Ok kids, I know all of you are really exited to get your teams, but show some manners and stay quiet while I read the team roaster, I don't want to keep asking you to be quiet after I read your names, understand?"
"Hai Sensei!" all the children respond and sit down quietly, the teacher proceed to read the teams to the kids.
The teacher start to name the teams from 1 to 6 which consist mainly of children from civilian parents and some clan less ninja parents, while they senseis were some random jounins.
Then the teacher call Tonka's name, she was being place in a team with Otoko Tsuyoi, an 12 years old boy with straight short black hair in a bowl style cut and black eyes and REALLY big eyebrows, he also keep talking about the flames of youth (he is not Lee's son, but apparently that isn't a requirement for the flames of youth to spread), the last member of his team was Umi Aburame, also a 12 year old girl and sister of Shino Aburame, she have black hair like her brother, but instead of being a curly mess like his brother she keep it in a short hime type (think of Hinata's hair cut when she was 12 but with two large bangs at the front), she wear sunglasses like all members of her clan but she didn't cover any part of her face.
"Your sensei is going to be Rock Lee." After saying this Otoko celebrate by shouting how youthful was to Lee as his sensei until the teacher throw a chalk between his eyes to shut him up while he mumble something about never ending green latex nightmares.
The next team consists of the kids of the Nara, Yamanaka and Akimichi clans, this team was form so they could work together as well or nearly as well as other previous teams that were form from this clans, and their sensei was going to be Kurenai Yui.
The next team was Shinji's team, and it was no surprise that he was place in the same team with Kushina and Itachi, mainly because they were the only kids from their class that had graduated this year, and to surprise of everyone their sensi was going to be Anko Mitarashi, which make all the kids that knew who she is pale a little bit.
"Ok kids, now that you know your teams wait here for your senseis, they will come to pick you up and present themselves to you."
Everyone wait in the classroom and one by one the senseis enter the classroom to get their teams and take them out. After 20 minutes of waiting Anko enter the classroom, by doing hes favorite dramatic entrance of flying through the window and cisplay a poster that say your always sexy and awesome sensei Anko Mitarashi "okay maggots, as you can guess I'm Anko Mitarashi and I have come for Kushina Uzumaki, Shinji Ikari and Itachi Uchiha, so if I call your name follow me, if not continue doing whatever you were doing." Said Anko.
Immediately Kushina Shinji and Itachi follow her as she exit the classroom and went to the shuriken practice field. Once everyone take a seat Anko start talking.
"All right maggots normally your sensei would ask you to present yourselves, but since I don't care to memorize anything about some small kids that are too young to let be genins, no matter who your parents are, we will skip that and go directly to the real exam, so I can fail you and I can continue my everyday life."
"Wait, what exam? We had already taken an exam to become genins, and nobody said something about a second exam." Said Shinji.
"That is because this exam is a secret and consider the real genin exam, the other test was just to see if you have the abilities to become shinobies, but now is my turn to test you and see if you not only have the skills to be shinobies, but use them in real life and death situations, so I will see you three in training ground 13 in two hours, and go fully prepare since we will have a survival test, and if I see that you are not fit I will not only fail you, but you will also be expel from the shinobi system, meaning that if you don't pass you will be banned from become shinobies." Anko tell them and then disappear in a whirl of leafs.
Shinji, Kushina and Itachi were left speechless, they were expecting that their sensei would start to teach them how to become great shinobies, not to scare them with a second exam and the possibility of their shinobies career to end before it even start.
"So what do we do now? I don't want to fail and never become a shinobi!" said an scare Kushina.
"Calm down nee-chan, everything is going to be alright, we just need to calm down and prepare as best as we can for the exam." Reassure Shinji.
"I agree with Shinji, we will have a better chance to pass this exam if work together and use this time to prepare as well as we can, so lets discuss what we can do to prepare for the exam." Said Itachi.
They spend about an hour discussing plans and trying to prepare for anything that Anko would test them, unknow to them Anko was watching them with a smirk in his face.
"Well at least they got the part of teamwork right, now we will see if they live to the expectations that their parents and other shinobies have put on them."
At training ground 13
Kushina, Shinji and Itachi were doing a last minute checkup of their gear when Anko arrive.
"Okay maggots, at least you are punctual, now for your survival exam you will have take my trench coat by any means, so be take this seriously and come after me with the intention to kill, because if you don't you will never be able to, also if you don't do your best I can't guarantee that you will survive this test." Said Anko with a sadistic smirk.
"Anko sensie are you saying that you are going to attack us with the intention of kill us? Isn't that a bit extreme?" ask Itachi.
"That is excactly what I mean kid, so if you want to quit now is the moment."
"HELL NO! I haven't train so hard for so long to just quit at the first time someone tells me to quit! I will take this test and pass it even if it kills me." Answer Kushina with a lot of confidence.
"I also don't plan to quit just because you say it Anko sensei, I'm confident of my skills and the skills of my teammates, also I have to demonstrate that I'm more than the son of my parents and can become a fine shinobi as them." Said Itachi.
"That's right Anko Sensei, we will pass your test without a doubt, we are destined to do great things in our life!" finally said Shinji.
"Alrigth maggots that is the actitude, you have until sunset to get my coat, starting… NOW!"
And with that the kids try to get Anko's coat, only for her to respond with a variety of taijutsu, ninjutsu and even summon snakes, the kids were having a lot of troubles to evade Anko's attack, so getting Anko's coat was out of reach for them, after a couple of hours Anko saw in the horizon that the sun was settling, "okay maggots that's it, time is over and you didn't get my…" that's when Anko hear a buzzing from her back and turn to watch an explosive tag attached to her coat, she immediately take it off and throw it away, only for the tag to flush some smoke without an explosion, while Anko try to understand what had happen Kushina pick up the coat.
"We got your coat Anko sensei, now you have to pass us!" Said Kushina.
"You are wrong kid, while you got my coat it is already pass sunset, so you don't pass!"
"Is that what you think Anko sensei? Itachi why don't you show her." Said Shinji.
"All right Shinji." And with that Itachi made a hand sign to drop the genjutsu that had place in Anko, making the sunset that she saw vanish and reveal that the day still have several minutes before sunset.
"Impressive Maggots, really impressive, not that I didn't realize I was under a genjutsu, but I was curious to see what were you planning to do, I have to congratulate you three, you were not only capable of working as a team with years of experience, but your ability to communicate and plan without words is impressive. Since you not only manage to get my coat but you really impress me so congratulations, you pass the exam, and I will be your jounin sensei and we will be team 13, see me tomorrow here at 9 in the morning." Stated Anko.
"Hell yeah! We pas Itachi-kun, onii-chan, we are now real shinobies!" said an excited Kushina.
"But I warn you Maggots, my training won't be easy, and since your parents and many people have so high hopes for you I will train you until you can move any more and then keep train you more."
That made the kids pale a little but they nod anyway, after that Anko leave and the kids finally get to catch their breath, after they finally digest the fact that they had pass and that Anko was going to train them to the ground. They stay there some more time talking with each other, then they decide to finally go to their homes.
When Kushina and Shinji get to their Kushina immediately went to reclaim to their parents, "Why the hell did you not tell us that there was another test! You make us feel that we have already become shinobies just for our sensei to scare the crap put of us!"
"That is because the second exam is a secret, and for a good reason." Answer Hinata
"Since we have pass the exam can you tell us that reason, or is that also big secret that nobody is allow to talk about?" asked Kushina.
"It isn't a secret, and lucky for you two your brothers are staying in the Hyuga compound with your grandfather right now so we can speak freely." Said Hinata.
"That's because the second exam objective is to see how would you would react to a situation that makes you face impossible odds and the consequence of failure being similar to what you would experience in real life if you were a shinobi, as well as to test you and your teammates to see if you can work as a team." Answer Naruto.
"Besides, if the students knew about this exam their reactions wouldn't be reliable and would try to find a way to pass it before they take the exam." Continue Hinata.
"But then why letting us sign the toad contract if we still have one more exam to pass and we could have fail it and be expel from the shinobi system?"
"We knew that you two were going to pass the exam, beside in case you fail the exam there is a loophole that could allow you to be train in another village, but don't tell anyone and I mean it this is a secret that only a few know." Said Naruto.
After that Hinata and Naruto spend the rest of the evening talking to their children preparing for the next period of their life.
The next day at the training ground 13
Kushina, Shinji and Itachi were waiting in training ground 13 at 8:55, they were talking about menial things until it was 9 o'clock and Anko appear in front of them.
"Good morning maggots, after passing your exam yesterday you had officialy become genins, the first official team that have been pass this year, and since I have already finish the paperwork we can get a mission right away so we can get to know you better."
"But sensei, if you want to known us wouldn't it be better for us to present ourselves?" ask Shinji.
"That is so boring kid, there is nothing better to know your team and their abilities than to see each other in action." Smirk Anko.
"But what about our names, the jutsus that we know and other stuff like our dreams for the future?" ask Kushina.
"I already know all of your stats by reading you profiles, and all that stuff abouth your dreams is boring, unless you want to become part of the T & I department, in which case I totally approve and will personally will train you for this." Said Anko grinning even more.
This make the kids shiver, realizing that their sensei was a real sadist and to never make her angry or face some daring consequences.
They reach the Hokage tower and enter the room where Naruto was handing missions.
"Team 13 reporting for duty Hokage-sama, do you have any missions for us to take?" Said Anko.
"Anko? What are you doing here? And what do you mean if I have a mission for you? Your team was only formally created yesterday! Beside the test you have not done anything to learn and develop teamwork! You should be doing that! Lecture Iruka.
"Relax honey, this kids have known each other for half of their life and work really well as a team already so there is no need for those exercises, and the best way for me know these kids and develop our bonds is to take them in missions from the start." Said Anko.
But before Iruka could continue to argue with his wife Naruto answer, "well I understand your logic Anko, but since your students lack any real experience I'm going to give you only D rank missions for the moment."
"C'mon daddy, we did plenty of those when we were in the academy, give us something more exiting, like rescuing a prince, or defeating an evil demon, or fighting nuke nins! Anything but D ranks!" shout Kushina.
Naruto lower his head, a little depress that her daughter didn't show him the respect that he deserve, but immediately turn to ask Iruka, "was I like this when I was younger?"
Iruka turn to see him and with a smile answer hi,, "no, you were worst!"
Naruto was shock by what Iruka had said to him, while he encourage everyone to be honest with him and make fun of himself, he never expect Iruka to be brutally honest and to make fun of his past. "Not cool Iruka, not cool at all."
"You asked so I tell you the true." Answer Iruka.
"Ejem, Could you give us a mission now Hokage-sama?" Ask respectfully Itachi.
"Ah, yes Itachi, lets see, what C ranked mission we can give you.."
But before Naruto could look at the mission scrolls Iruka stop him. "Actually Hokage-Sama there is the mandatory D rank mission that all teams must do."
"Oh right, this mission is a must and it should give a Anko a better understanding of the kids abilities and teamwork." Said Naruto.
"Wait! You are not referring to THAT mission, are you? I hate to do that mission, SEVERAL TIMES when I was a genin, I even have scars on my left butt chick from one time things went really weird and bad really fast!"
"Yes Anko, it is THAT mission, and don't be so negative about it, because NOW you get to be the sensei!" answer Iruka.
At this Anko start to grinning like a madman, the kids look at their sensei and start to get worried, what kind of mission was this that made Anko Sensei seem so creepy and a little bit sadist? What kind of mission was this that make her sensei react this way? How a mission could be done several times by genin teams since the time Anko sensei was a genin? How could a D rank mission could go so bad that would leave Anko sensei with a scar… in her left butt chick? And why did this mission had become a must do if everyone seem to despite it?
"Emm, dad.. I mean Hokage-sama, what kind of mission is this and why do we have to do it?" ask Shinji.
"It is an important retrieval mission request it by the Daimyo's wife, and every genin team has done this mission since the times of the first Hokage, so it has become some form of initiation for new teams."
Iruka complement Naruto´'s Answer, "it's also a very important mission that provides a high amount of Ryo to the village, it will be good for your rep with the rest of the shinobies, and you will have the opportunity to make a good impression with the Daimyo's wife."
When Kushina hear this she get really excite, "really!? Then we could became really famous by doing this mission?"
"Yes you can become famous, just not in the way you are thinking, every time a team takes this mission it is recorded so anyone can see it, and since every shinobi in the leaf village has done this mission and knows how difficult it is, so they watch this records constantly so they can see how much stronger the new generations are getting." Answer Iruka.
"Not to mention that when a team establish a new record gossip of this make all Konoha known this by the end of the day!" add Anko.
"But if this mission is so important why it is ranked as a D mission? Why not being rank higher?" ask Itachi.
"Well that is because this mission takes place in Konoha and or its surrounding, also the risk for injuries is very low, and finally this mission generates an important and constant amount of ryo for the village." Answer Iruka.
"So this is a very important mission in which can make a good impress to other shinobies with our performance, but we still don't know what the mission is." Said Itachi.
"Okay team 13 your mission will be… the retrieval of Cora the cat!"
Once Naruto had said this the kids sweat droop, Naruto and Iruka had been talking so high about this mission, making them believe that this will be an awesome missions that will allow them to show their skills as shinobies, only to be reveal that this was a simple mission done to retrieve a stupid cat.
"WHAT!? You can be serious! How can a mission as LAME as found a CAT can be consider so important and make us famous!?" shout Kushina.
"We already told you how important this mission is for Konoha and how a good performance can increase your reputation, so stop complaining and get going if you want to finish the mission before lunch!" said Naruto with authority.
"Hai Hokage-sama." Respond the kids and Anko. Once they were out Anko immediately give the kids instructions for this mission and then banish.
"Did our sensei just ditch us?" ask Shinji.
"It seems so, we better get going and capture this cat since it seem this is not a simple retrieval mission."
With that they go to find Tora the cat, only to find out why everybody dread this mission, to their surprise Tora seem to detected them when they get too close and run away, so they spend more than 2 hours chasing the damn cat while trying to not crash with people and walls, and after they finally corner Tora the cat just keep struggling and fighting against them and even head but Kushina once.
After another hour of struggling Itachi lost his patient and put Tora to sleep with a genjutsu, then on their way to the Hokage tower Anko was waiting them, "what took you so long kids? 3 hours may be a good time for any other genin team doing this mission for the first time, but you 3 come from some of the strongest families, you graduate from the academy in your first and are consider genius, a lot of people is expecting great things from you 3. So to fix this from tomorrow I will train you 3 like nobody has train you before, I push you to your limits and then beyond that, will break you and then pick up the pieces to mold you into great shinobies, and I will be enjoying it all the way. But enough of this lets take Tora to the Hokage and officialy end our first mission."
The kids nodded but inside were a little scare, not because Anko had tell them that their training was going to be a lot harder than anything they had experience, but because Anko say she was going to enjoy the whole process.
Inside the Hokage tower they deliver a still sleep Tora to the Daimyo's wife, after that Iruka told them that they did a good job but didn't break any record or milestone. After this Anko let the kids have the rest of the day and tell them to meet her tomorrow at training field 13 at 10 a.m. and then she left.
The 3 walk home talking about what Anko's train will be like, but not even in their wildest dreams could they imagine what kind of training was expecting them, but will soon start to fear it.
End of chapter 6
Sorry for taking so long to update but I lost the flash drive with the files of the story and I had not only to start again this chapter but also the story board that I already have, and that was a lot to remember and write.
I hope that this chapter is of your liking and at least make you fell that it was worth the waiting.
On other news I'm going to make a little change to the story, as someone point out Shinji didn't have to forsake the name Uzumaki when he was adopted, so I change the last chapter, only the part that he explain his name to his classmates, and so Shinji will be known as Shinji Ikari Uzumaki, at least as long as he is in Konoha.
I'm also starting to write a new story, this one being a crossover between Freezing and Naruto, I will update the first chapter this weekend but I will tell you that it will take place in the Freezing universe following the manga plot, but with the special addition of one character of Naruto, and it won't be Naruto since mixing two main characters in the same history is a lot harder than it looks.
