;;/;; Jade's POV ;;\\;;
I tapped my foot, making my whole leg twitch with my impatience. When we got to the hospital, mere seconds after the ambulance had pulled up, it was too late for me to go in with Tori. I don't even know why they wouldn't let me! I was her girlfriend, after all.
...Okay, I do know why. They don't want me interfering with whatever operations they may have to do on her, and they probably don't want me watching them either. But still. Waiting was killing me! I had to know she's alright.
"Ugh!" I jumped up from my seat for probably the fourth time, walking straight to the nurses counter and tapping my foot louder. The on-duty nurse looked up at me, un-interested.
"No, Miss West, you may not go in to see her yet. The doctor's are still working on her, and making sure she's stable. As I told you before, the doctor will alert you when you may go in."
"But I just-"
Her eyes softened as she interrupted me, clearly seeing my worry for her. "She's fine, Jade. But you have to allow the doctor's to do their jobs. That means you have to wait while they make sure that there's nothing wrong with her that they can't see. They have to be thorough so she can get better as fast as possible." She checked her computer, then looked back up at me. "It's only been thirty minutes. Go get some food, and I guarantee you can see her when you get back up."
I sighed, looking down, mumbling a somewhat-coherent response of "okay", dejectedly walking back to my seat, and Cat, as I ignored the nurses advice. Sure, I was hungry, but I was more worried about Tori than anything.
Cat looked at me sympathetically as I reached my chair and plopped back down on the seat. "Still can't go in?" She questioned. I shook my head. "Don't worry, you'll be able to soon." Cat took my hand, trying to comfort me. "She's okay, and you know that. She's okay because of you, and now the doctor's are just making sure she stays okay."
"I know, Cat, but I just want to be in there with her... I'm afraid something will happen because I'm not there. And I want to be able to hold her hand while the doctors check her over, so she knows that she's not alone... I'm sure she's probably terrified, and I don't want her to be." Cat listened to me as I ranted, still staring at me sympathetically, and when she thought I was done, she continued.
"You love her." I looked up at Cat in shock. "I know you do, and you want to be there to protect her and make her feel better. But you can't do that yet, because the doctor's think you'll interfere." I opened my mouth to protest, but she shook her head, and I stayed quiet. "I know you won't. But they need to make sure they can do their jobs properly."
"You sound just like the nurse," I grumbled, then sighed. "And I know you're both right. I just can't stand waiting..." I trailed off when I saw a doctor walking out of the double doors that went to the ER. I think I literally started vibrating as he walked straight towards us, and asked "Jade West?" I nodded vigorously.
"You may go see your girlfriend now." The only thing that kept me from running straight to her was the doctor's hand on my shoulder. "I called her parents, they're on their way." He paused. "She's in rough shape, but you know that already. I just want to warn you, she's all bandaged up, and hooked up to a couple machines. But." He paused again, and smiled. "She's expected to make a full recovery. Just be gentle."
Despite his words, I felt worry continue to gnaw at my insides. As soon as he lifted his hand from my shoulder, I was up and rocketing down the hallway towards Tori's room, Cat following behind me. I paused just outside the doorway to catch my breath, and looked at Cat. She smiled. "Don't worry. I'll wait out here. You go see her."
I nodded, and knocked lightly on the door, pushing it open. "Tori?" I questioned softly.
"Jade?" A weak voice responded, filling me with happiness. "What are you doing just standing inside the doorway? Come all the way in here, you." There was a smile in her voice, and I couldn't help but smile back at it. I all but ran to her bedside and immediately kissed her, to which I noticed the rate of the beeps on her heart moniter went up. I smirked as I pulled back, but gently grabbed her hand and intertwined our fingers.
"Excited, much?" I laughed at her blush, then immediately sobered up. "I was so worried about you..." I murmured softly, looking her over. She was so pale... And that's never something you say about Tori Vega. She did look a lot better though. All the dried blood was gone, and she was all bandaged up.
"I know.." She murmured back. "I'm sorry you had to go through that..."
"Through what?" I asked, surprised. "You're the one that got hurt!"
"I know, I know... But you had to rescue me. If I had listened to my feelings, and not gotten into Beck's truck with him..."
"Stop it. You didn't know what he was going to do. He was just being his charming-'ol-Beck self and trying to apologize, right?" She looked surprised, but nodded. "He does that to everyone, when he knows he's done something wrong... He's just never gone all psycho-killer on them." I smiled weakly.
"I guess.." She sighed.
"Tori." I reprimanded.
"Okay, okay. You're right. I'm still sorry, though." I rolled my eyes and she grinned.
There was a soft knock on the door, and we both looked towards it as Cat walked in. "Umm... Hi." She smiled nervously. "Sorry to interrupt, but the doctor told me to tell you guys that Tori's parents are here... They kinda want to come in and see her."
Tori and I looked at each other, asking a silent question on if we wanted her parents to know. And then I slowly moved back, letting go of her hand. The answer had been in her eyes: Not yet. Cat nodded as she watched us.
"I'll tell them they can come in, then." Cat moved out the door, only to come back a few seconds later with Tori's parents. Tori's mom immediately rushed to her side while Tori's dad just stood in the doorway.
"Oh, Tori, baby, are you alright!" She exclaimed, her hands hovering over her daughter.
"Yes, mom." Tori replied, fending off her mothers hands with her own. "I'm okay. Thanks to Jade, and Cat." Tori's mom then turned to me and Cat, who had moved to my side, and showed us a 200 watt smile.
"Thank you so much, girls! You saved her." Cat and I smiled back, though ours weren't as enthusiastic as hers and my eyes kept cutting from her to Tori. Tori's dad came over to me and took my hand.
"Thank you." He said lowly, offering a smile when he noticed I couldn't keep my eyes off of Tori for more than a few seconds, a knowing twinkle in his eyes. "I'm glad you could protect her.." He turned to Cat, who kept fidgeting. "And thank you, too. I know you both helped her when we were unaware of her situation, and that makes me so happy that she has..." His gaze went to me, "friends like you." My gaze finally settled on him in shock. "It's okay." He whispered low enough for only Cat and I to hear. "I'm glad she has someone like you."
I smiled at him gratefully. "Thank you." At least one of her parents would accept us. Cat butted her shoulder against mine, grinning. I really couldn't help but grin back.
A/N:
I apologize so much for the wait! I didn't mean for it to take this long, but, well... It did, and I'm so sorry! But... What do you guys think? I'm thinking of leaving off here, for this to be the last chapter. A happy ending, and all. Beck in jail, Tori in the hospital but expected to make a full recovery, Tori's dad figuring out they were together just because Jade couldn't stop looking at Tori, and being okay with it... So, yeah. Last chapter. Please, it would mean so much to me if you told me what you thought of this story, as I really had a lot of fun writing it, and thank you for all those who reviewed so far and *hopefully* will review after this is posted. I'll see you on my next story, if I write one. Have a nice life! ^^
