Chapter 6: Alive and Well

The combination of the wind getting knocked out of her and her crashing back down to earth, hit her like a tidal wave, making her sit down on the coffee table.

Grissom speaks again after not hearing her voice for several seconds. "Destiny, did you hear me? Are you ok?"

She nods before clearing her throat, even though he couldn't see her. "I did, and yeah I'm fine."

"So, will you be here?"

"Yeah, we will be there in a few."

She hears her father sigh. "Destiny, I..."

But she cuts him off. "I know dad. We will be there."

"Ok, I love you."

She smiles through her tears. "I love you too."

They say bye before she ends the call.

While she continued to sit on the coffee table, she looks down at her phone, shocked, her life can once again change with one phone call.

A few minutes later she hears Jeremy's voice in the living room. "Hey babe, did you hear me?"

She looks up and sees him now wearing a nice dress shirt and black slacks, then she gives him a small smile before asking. "What?"

"When are we going to tell the parents about the new addition?"

She clears her throat. "Let's wait a bit, just in case something happens."

He shake his head as he walked up to her before cupping her cheek. "Nothing is going to happen." He bends down and kisses her forehead. "You better get ready, we have reservations in 30 minutes."

As he turns around to head back into the bedroom, she speaks. "Jeremy?"

He turns back around to look at her. "Yeah?" She keeps her eyes on him before looking down at her phone again.

Concerned, Jeremy walks back to her, taking her hand so he could turn her body so she was facing the couch, then he sat down with their hands still connected."What's wrong, did you get a call or something?"

She nodded and swallowed before she told him something that knocked him off his axis. "Faith is alive."

Jeremy gasped, then a second later stood up before looking down at her. "For real?"

She nodded. "Dad called and told me she's at the hospital, I didn't get any more details than that."

He puts a hand up to his mouth as he sat back down. "Wow."

"Yeah, so we better go there."

He looks at her, and she had looked back down at her hands, then he puts a hand on her hand and started to say. "Destiny..."

But she cuts him off. "We will talk about this later, let's just go and see her, ok?" He nods, squeezing her hand before getting up and walking back into the bedroom to get his shoes.

When she was alone, she took a breath as she got up from the coffee table, then she walked to the kitchen to get a glass of water, and after she drowned it, she puts the glass in the sink.

They walked out of the apartment once he came back into the room, picking up their keys and cell phones on the way out.

After he pulled into the hospital parking lot, which the drive there was done in silence, he parked in a parking spot, then turned the vehicle off before looking over at her. "You ready?"

She nodded, and as they were getting out, spoke. "Let's not tell her anything about us yet, ok?" He nods in agreement, they didn't want to hurt her after she had been through so much.

Before they knew it, the elevator that they took had stopped on the correct floor and opened, so they stepped out, seeing Grissom standing there in front of the chairs in the waiting room, still in a shocked state.

Grissom smiled at his daughter and Jeremy a second later, then gave Jeremy a handshake before wrapping his oldest in a hug, and while they were hugging, she asked. "Is she ok?"

He pulls back with a nod. "She is. We just wanted to make sure everything was alright. Let's go, she has been dying to see you two."

They both nodded and headed to Faith's room, and once they got to the doorway of her room, they saw Faith with a smile as she was talking to Sara.

Faith looked over her mother's shoulder and sees two of the most important people in her life, then she smiles at them. "Come in here you two."

They walked in the room as Sara moved off the bed to let them have their moment, and after they were on each side of Faith's hospital bed, she hugged them both for a few minutes each.

When the hugs were done, she looked at them and asked. "So why do you guys look like you have seen a ghost?"

They all smiled before chuckling a little, then Destiny replied. "Sorry, this feels like a dream, we thought..."

Faith cuts her off. "I know, but I'm not, I am really here." She smiles at Destiny, then turns her head to Jeremy and grabs his hand. "I am here now."

He smiles in return. "You sure are, so how are you here?"

She releases his hand and sighed. "I guess it's time. It's kind of a long story, though."

Before both Jeremy and Destiny could speak, Grissom talks. "Well, we have time."

Faith nods, took a breath and told them her story.

She was unconscious for three days and that a group of foreigner Fishermen found her and rescued her. When she did wake up, she told them she couldn't remember a lot about herself. They knew that she was an American and they did have a man on the boat that spoke a little English but not much. They took her in and became her surrogate family.

She made money doing odd jobs, remembering bits and pieces about herself as time went by. Then when she remembered she knew how to paint, that's when her full memory came back, it started out just faces, but eventually she started to remember names, so she said goodbye to her surrogate family and went back to the states...

"When I got to the house mom and dad were very shocked, but I don't blame them after thinking I was dead for over a year. They wanted to make sure that I was ok, so that's how I ended up here."

They were happy, but shocked at what she went through, then before anybody could say anything, the Doctor came in and Faith asked. "Give it to me straight doctor, am I going to live?"

The Doctor smiled before replying. "You will be just fine. Everything is normal, so you are free to go home." Faith says thank you, then everybody else says it too before he nods and walks out of the room.

Faith looks at her parents when he was gone. "See mom and dad, I am perfectly fine."

They nodded with a smile before Grissom replied. "It's a miracle that you're even here, we just wanted to make sure you are here for a long time."

Faith nodded with a smile of her own as she looked at everybody in the room, stopping at Jeremy. "It is a miracle, isn't it?"

He smiles as she takes his hand again before he squeezes it. "It really is."

Destiny clears her throat a second later. "How about we get you out of here?" She was starting to feel very uncomfortable with Faith holding his hand.

Everybody agreed with Destiny, then Grissom asked. "So where are we having dinner?"

Before anybody could talk, Faith replied. "How about a home cook meal? I haven't had one of those in a while."

He smiles with a nod. "Ok, home cook meal it is."

Faith smiles, and after they were done with what they needed to do in the hospital, they walked out before heading for the vehicles.

Once they got there, Faith looks at Jeremy."I will just ride with my parents and Destiny, is that alright?"

"That's fine, I'll met you guys at your house, ok?"

Sara and Grissom nodded, then Jeremy looks at Destiny for a second before he turns and walks away. She looks at his retreating back, then turns and walks with her family, feeling very lost at the moment.

When they get into the vehicle and had buckled in, Faith asks. "Ok guys, out with it."

Sara turns to look at Faith. "Out with what?"

"Come on, you all thought I was dead. Did Jeremy do something that he feels guilty about?" Faith noticed that Jeremy was a little distant, and that got her really curious on what he did.

Grissom concentrates on driving as Sara turns back around so she was looking forward, then Faith looked at Destiny, and she was looking out the window, so she shakes her head. "I will take your silence as the affirmative." She sighed when they still didn't speak. "Well, if you guys won't tell me, Jeremy will."

Grissom decides to reply to that. "We just thought it was his place to tell you." He glanced at Destiny through the review mirror, which Destiny saw it and sent him a silent thank you.

Faith nodded. "Yeah I guess you're right, but I do have one more question."

Sara looked back at Faith before asking. "Just one? You have been gone a little over a year, and you can only think of one?"

Faith smiles. "Well I do have more, but this one has been on my mind since the hospital."

Sara nodded. "Ok, what is it, dear?"

Faith looks over at Destiny and asked. "So do I know the guy you are marrying?"
