Derek's POV
School has been easy. I have gotten some un-wanted attention form girls, but in a few weeks they will give up. They only like me because Simon is my brother. I have been used in the past by girls so they could date my brother. Simon was just well liked. He knew how to act around girls; they thought he was funny. I just wish I knew how too, maybe then Chloe would like me.
It wasn't that Chloe didn't like me, but I think she just likes me as a friend. I don't know what is wrong with me! No one before Chloe has made me feel the way I do now. I notice things that never mattered before. I notice the different things that she wore. Chloe had a very relaxed style that consisted of a T-shirt and jeans. I loved when she wore red- it just made her skin glow. I noticed that she wore very little make-up. I don't think she needed any, but she still looks beautiful with it. That is what I loved so much about Chloe. She was simple and natural. She did not cake her face with layers of makeup or mask her sent with perfume. She just stayed true to herself. She was so different than anyone I have ever met before.
My wolf has even started calling her my mate. Anyone from the pack would probably think I was crazy. It was unusual to find my mate so soon in life. I have yet to tell anyone because I am not for sure she loves me the same. If she didn't love me, then I would never force her to be with me. I was a monster. She deserved better than me. I could never do that to her. All I wanted for her in life was to be happy and safe. Chloe deserved the best and I would protect her always.
A knock came from my door. Simon poked his head in.
"Hey bro," he called.
"You know, it's polite to wait for an invitation to come in to someone's room." I said back. He smiled.
"So how are you?" He asked.
"I'm fine." I said back.
"That's good." He said, rocking back on his heels.
"Are you okay? What's with the small talk?" I asked about his weird behavior. I could tell he had something on his mind, but he was beating around the bush about it.
"I was wondering how you like it here." He asked.
"It's okay," I said. "I don't mind it."
"Oh, really, that's great. I wanted to start doing things at school, and Tori too!" He said. So that's what he wanted. He turned and walked out with a new skip in his step.
When dad got home I walked down to get a snack before dinner. My dad was humming a cheerful tone. I walked further in the room and made a grunting sound to let him know I was there and sat down.
"Hello son. How has your day been?" He asked with his back turned.
"Fine," I grunted.
"That's good. How is school?" He asked.
"It's going good." I told him as I scratched my arm.
"Derek, when was that last time you changed?" He asked.
"Last week, why?" I asked.
"You're scratching. Go for a short run, dinner will be done in an hour." He told me. I nodded and stepped outside. I could feel stress leave me as I breathed in the cold air. I made my way to the woods.
