Sorry for the wait! This school year has removed me of my time and motivation. I rewrote this chapter because I felt a little disappointed with my writing the first time round. Hope you enjoy! Last chapter will be next and will be up shortly.

All he sensed was excruciating pain. His eyes were clenched; he saw nothing but perpetual darkness against the agony of the light. He was unaware of everything but the intolerable pain. Threads of electricity pierced every fibre and cell of his body as it coursed through his skin, leaving his body shuddering in the portal.
He was screaming, but he couldn't hear himself. All that drummed in his ears were the tendrils of the torture he endured.
Sam and Tucker had abandoned their posts as the sight of the bright luminous light and ran away from the portal in shock. They watched him writhing in mid-air and stared at Danny in horror.
They gaped at Danny helplessly as they couldn't enter the portal without fear of suffering the same fate. Tucker placed his hands over his head in panic as Danny's screams worsened and tears were forming in Sam's eyes.
She had encouraged him to go in. It was her fault. She was responsible for his pain and because of it Danny was suffering.
Danny's arms and legs were shaking uncontrollable and he hovered four feet off of the ground. He was still screaming loudly and his body couldn't handle it much longer. He felt tears from his eyes running down his face as his eyelids were pulsating from the convulsions of his body.
He wanted it to stop. Anything to make the pain end. He felt his body throbbing and the spasms intensified.
He felt his body contracting as he levitated further above the portal floor. The electrical energy within him was building up and up and he felt as if he was about to be torn to shreds.
Tucker and Sam returned to the machines in a panic and were pressing several buttons in an attempt to close the portal. Their frantic actions were however in vain, as they saw an enormous beam of white light stream out of the portal.
They saw a mass of black being hurtled out of the portal, no longer shaking wildly but still as a wooden puppet. Danny, being built up with so much energy from the enigmatic bright light had been catapulted forwards. He hit the ground roughly and skidded across the tiled floor, his body limp and battered looking. There was another flash of an orange and the portal erupted.
The intensity of the pain knocked him unconsciousness as he was jolted out of the portal violently. He lay lifeless on the cold metal strewn floor looking peaceful.
Although his life could never possibly be peaceful again.
The white light vanished leaving an aftermath of debris and disarray. Sam and Tucker and taken cover under the counters but still coughed roughly from the saturation of dust.
Apart from their brief coughing fits, the room was silent. There were no noises of machines working or screams of agony. That had ceased. And all that was left was a tsunami of shapes of metal and three people. Well, three teenagers at least.
Sam was the first to rise.
She coughed hoarsely as dust and soot filtered through her lungs uncomfortably. She stumbled away from the side wall clutching the strong counter as she slowly climbed over the rubble.
She paced quicker as she saw a figure sprawled out at the back of the lab. She approached him quickly, wishing in her head that he would be alright. She halted in her steps when she saw his face.
This was not Danny.
But no, it was Danny. This boy had the same facial features as Danny. He had the same face shape, curve of the chin and crease at the corners of his eyes.
But the hair was a startling white, the colour of cotton. Sam drew closer to the ground and recoiled quickly. There was a distinct coldness emanating off of him and she felt goose bumps pin prickle on her arms. Sam looked at his torso and saw in disbelief that it was translucent. Sam could touch his stomach and her fingers would right through his body.
Sam stood in her spot in utter shock, not able to form a single thought about the situation. She heard a shuffle behind her and quickly turned around.
She looked around and saw movement underneath a pile of lead. She glances carefully around the rubble and saw a foot wearing a brown shoe sticking out.
She rushed over and began chucking off pieces of the dusty pile.
After a while, Tucker's eyes because visible as Sam removed a broken telescope off of his face. His glasses had miraculously survived the ordeal, but were coated in soot and sawdust.
Sam helped Tucker up off the ground and Tucker swayed momentarily. He placed his hand on Sam's shoulder trying to regain his balance a he quietly asked:
'Sam, are you okay? Where's Danny? Is he…?'
'He's over there' Sam said her voice shaking a little, pointing her index in the direction of the back wall, 'Tucker, there's something wrong with him'.
Tucker's eyes bulged. 'What do you mean?' he asked in a dead tone.
'He looks…weird' Sam said as her chest heaved. Tucker stood up straight and let go of Sam's shoulder. He paced over to Danny hurriedly as Sam followed swiftly behind him.
Like Sam, he stopped dead his tracks when he caught sight of Danny's face.
Both were silent for a moment before Tucker cleared his throat.
'Does that mean he's de…' Tucker whispered.
'I don't know' Sam said, her breaths uneven.
'But he looks like, like a…' Tucker said stuttering softly.
'Ghost' Sam sighed.
They stared at this Danny on the floor, white haired and translucent, without single idea in mind of what they were going to do.
