Chapter 6: Dirty acts of Delinquents III

AN:

And this is the final chapter of Episode 1, damn it took a bit too long, and yet, I hate writing overly long chapters as it will get a bit annoying for readers to read overly long chapters. I went and gave out more details and hints of Aya's past and her brother's death. More details concerning what exactly Aya did to become a wanted person will be coming out slowly. I'm also out for suggestions what kind of diagnose you think Aya has or what medicine she's taking.

I started to think of making this story an original version once it's finished with a changes here and there as I only now realized how much of potential this plot has regarding to be an original work and not simply a fanfiction. Of course, I would be changing a lot of character's names, personalities and background to be more fitting to the story. Oh well, it's still an idea and nothing certain yet.

Enjoy another chapter of Gokusen I – Insignia of Cherry Blossom.

We watched as Sawatari and Washio dragged unwilling Kumai away to the teacher's faculty, and surprised Yamaguchi, who attempted to stop Head teacher from being so rough with our classmate. The moment they were gone, the boys broke into a chatter of what they thought Kumai was suspected of having done, and most of it was just rubbish.

It went from Kumai having beaten someone good from the other class or school up to having done something other ridiculous thing to the point of the possible truth of Kumai being the culprit of some money Sawatari-Kyoto had having gone missing.

I had been right, when I realized the day wouldn't stay beautiful as it had begun, that things could only go towards hell, when it came down to it.

The only one, who actually got up and followed the group almost immediately was Sawada, who didn't look all too happy if his narrowed eyes were any sort of indication. I stayed on my spot for a while, listening to Uchiyama, Minami and Noda discussing Kumai's fate and his ties to the stolen money before getting up and excusing myself to the bathroom. I left the Ramen cup with Uchiyama, only grabbing my bottle of water as I opened it to drink as I walked towards the building.

Ignoring Noda's call of saying female toilet was the opposite of my direction, devouring another half of my gas free water bottle before throwing an empty plastic bottle into a recycle bin nearby.

I could feel the looks of guys from other classes watching me, and yet, keeping their distances, not wanting to deal with a bit too protective bunch of my rowdy and untamed classmates, as I entered the building of our school. I didn't know why I decided to follow Sawada to see the outcome, all I knew for certain was that something inside of me forced me to see Kumai wouldn't be punished without a reason.

And yet, the same feeling told me the gluttonous brat was guilty of the charges he was facing.

I found Sawada having stopped in front of the Faculty room, waiting and attempting to listen to the conversation inside, before he noticed me approaching him. He frowned, looking surprised of my sudden appearance.

"What are you doing here?" He kind of demanded, looking for any signs of me being a possible spy for the teachers or something.

Or, I might be over thinking.

I shrugged, wondering what the right words were to say, when the guy in the question ran out of the faculty room, looking all strange and kind of flustered.

"Kuma!" Sawada called out, catching up to him with me sighing before following him.

"Shin, Aya," Kumai said, sounding surprised to see me there, and yet, I've got a feeling he wasn't all that surprised to see Sawadad there.

Kumai's eyes reflected hints of guilt, anger, sadness and something else I couldn't quite pin-point, making me to wonder what exactly had occurred in the teacher's loungue. I managed a small, reassuring smile as I watched Sawada to place his hand on Kumai's shoulder, silently asking if his friend was alright, however, right before Kumai could answer Yamaguchi came running.

"Kumai!"

The three of us turned around to eye Yamaguchi cautiously, and the 'quiet' Kumai was replaced with a 'delinquent' Kumai. With his hands pocketed, black blazer unbuttoned to reveal red shirt, he leisurely faced our homeroom teacher.

"Shut up!" He snapped, seemingly more irritated at her than at anyone else. "Call the cops or whatever!"

I raised an eyebrow, catching Sawada's warning look on me for a brief moment before he too seemed to be glaring at Yamaguchi. If he's innocent, why act all barky and defensive?

"I said I believe you," Yamaguchi appeared to have repeated her words from their earlier conversation, making Kumai to scoff and me to roll my eyes.

I had heard this kind of conversation before, and it hadn't ended up well.

"Stop the nice act," Kumai snapped, words carrying how disbelieving he was of her words.

"I believe in you," Yamaguchi repeated, stepping forward, with such a strong conviction that I nearly allowed myself to be tricked by her.

Sawada decided to take this as his cue to protectively step forward, placing a hand on Kumai's shoulder to prevent him from doing something stupid that could get him expelled, "You pretend to be nice and play dirty tricks," he cut in. "You, grown-ups, we won't be fooled anymore."

I blinked at Sawada's anger, seeing as how Yamaguchi was surprised as well, looking stunned at how much teenagers could actually hate teachers or grown-ups in general. Forgetting how, one day, we were going to be part of them...

"That's what all of you say in the beginning, anyways," I joined in the conversation, other than just standing there, running a hand through my hair. The three of them turned to look at me, Kumai's bruises were visible, making me to inwardly groan. "And look where I am now – in an all-boys' school because one of you pretended to believe in me only to be betrayed in the end!"

I yelled that last part in Yamaguchi's face, who looked taken aback at my sudden outburst or how much of anger my words carried; memories of the last year flashing in my mind, making me to grab my locket instinctively.

"I'm not in this school, because of a some simple expulsion – my life didn't turn into one full of shit 'cause I wanted it – had adults believed in me, none of this stuff would've happened! I would still be living my old life with my family complete and not an ounce of guilt eating up my mind!"

There was a stunned silence, one in which I could feel my classmates eyes on me, however, all I could see was Yamaguchi's widened eyes at my words. I groaned, before cursing for allowing myself to tell them the last part, with guilt, in. I had given Sawada too much of information for him not to stop questioning me.

Then, Sawada turned around, silently pulling both Kumai and myself away, leading us away from our still stunned homeroom teacher.

Not once did I glance back at her, unwilling to say anything else on this matter.

"You alright, Hyuga?" Sawada asked, giving me a look of concern (which I found strange) as we headed back to our classroom.

I shrugged, stopping by the drinks machine to buy myself a cold coke, contemplating a bit before offering it to Kumai, who blinkd in surprise that I was treating him. He did accept it with a small, thankful smile.

"I'm doing better than Kumai," I told Sawada, honestly, when Kumai did the walk of shame to the classroom of 3-D.

.

.

It wasn't after the school hours that the boys managed to convince me to hang out with them, even if it was for a short time. I mainly went as I was concerned of Kumai doing something stupid, wanting to see if the guy was doing any better although I knew he wasn't. It's not easy to be at school and being suspected by the teachers of having stolen money, no matter the reason or what really took place.

We were walking towards the small bridge that stood in the way, Uchiyama was carrying his guitar with him (I had found out during the Japanese class that he played it, and turned out to be quiet good at it), with both Noda and Minami were in the middle of attempting to convince me to join them in after school activities every day – to get me become a part of their group.

I grimaced, shaking my head as I thought of what my parents would say, when they saw me in hanging out with delinquents and not even attempting to find normal friends as everyone wanted me to do so. Not my problem, after all, it was the Chief of police, who sent me into Shirokin as a part of my punishment. If he wants me to find normal friends, he should've sent me, for an example, to Momo's, which wasn't all that far away.

There were moments, when I saw the strange looks girls from Momo gave me, as if not completely beliving I would willingly hang out with the guys or even attend the school (the last part I wasn't).

My fingers kept fidgeting with the locket, making Sawada to glance at me in a wonder and suspiciously, all while Kumai was unusually silent (that was what Uchiyama whispered to me, stating that the boys were worried for him).

"Oh!" Uchiyama suddenly spoke, causing all of us to stop as we only know spotted a busy crowd, standing on the bridge, seemingly staring and making fun of something or someone in the river.

I had an uneasy feeling in my stomach as we approached our classmates, being gleefully invited by one of them.

"Hey, Uchiyama, Hyuga – come here!"

Some people stopped doing whatever it was that they did, when they heard my name, giving me a dreamy look before pretending that they weren't leering at me due to the glares they got from Uchiyama, Noda and Minami.

Protective idiots, I thought with a tiny smile

"Wow, she's crazy!" Minami claimed, laughing at the sight of Yamaguchi, who was dressed in a white jersey, while clinging to the railing.

I glanced at Kumai's and Sawada's faces, finding looks of surprise and disbelief written on their faces, before turning to look back at the woman, who was currently trying to pull something out of the river. We watched her to do so, while boys sneered and mocked her, especially when she fell into a river with a small yelp.

"Aren't you insane?" Minami mocked, laughter clear in his voice.

"It's too early to play in water," Noda 'warned' Yamaguchi, mocking her as he laughed at her.

"How beautiful!"

"If that's a teacher, I could be one too," someone remarked as I noticed Kumai being stunned at Yamaguchi's action in a more ways then the rest of us were.

"Come on!" Sawada said, wearing a look of something that seemed to say that he'd made up his mind wherever or not he trusted Yamaguchi's words of her believing Kumai, and instantly our fellow classmates obeyed him.

I found several pairs of hands on my shoulders, making me to groan before smacking unwanted hands away, making Uchiyama to laugh at Noda and Minami, who now had wrapped hands around each others shoulders – that made me to snicker at the strange friendship display.

.

.

The next day I got a call from Kumai, not having joined the guys in their Karaoke night only gone for the pool, who told me what had happened – apparently he had told Yamaguchi the truth of him having taken the money bag that Sawatari had dropped near the toilets, only for it to have been stolen by a bunch of thugs, who had taken it as a bag of victory (his words, not mine). I nearly fell off of the bed, while struggling to change into my school uniform, listening to Kumai say how he had been hit by Yamaguchi for doing something dirty, it was only after that she had told them to leave everything to her.

There was a small stunned silence, before I told him to go to school as I was going to look for Yamaguchi in order to get her to stay silent.

I ran out of my apartment, noticing how Sawada didn't seem to be at home, making me to wonder if he had stayed out all night. Bitting my lip, I dialed some of my contacts, whose numbers I had saved for the occasion asking if they knew something. It was a good thing that Kumai remembered the faces of the guys, who had beaten him up and stolen the money, otherwise it would've been nearly impossible no matter how much of description there was to it.

My contacts appeared to be surprised that I even called, demanding an explanation as of what exactly had happened to me as they didn't fully trust the news. I promised to give them an explanation later, a small price to pay to help Kumai, I thought.

However, when I arrived to one of the warehouses, I found Sawada approaching it as well.

"Sawada?"

"Hyuga? What are you doing here?" His voice was full of surprise as if he hadn't expected me to come here at all, and the same goes for me.

I shrugged, "I've got my reasons, although I believe you're here to help Kumai, right?"

He nodded, however, it was then that we noticed the broken down door, making us to stare at each other in confusion and shock.

"What the -?" I questioned, spotting a pile of beaten up thugs in the middle of the warehouse, turning to Sawada with widened eyes.

It wasn't an everyday skill to be able to take care of six or seven guys like that, and they seemed to be quite strong as well. Wordlessly, we ran back to the school, too surprised to even say something as we ran.

It took us a few minutes to reach the school, where we found everyone in the gymnasium with Sawatari announcing what Kumai had apparently done. We walked there just in time to see Washion kicking Kumai in legs to force him to kneel and apologize for ruining the school's reputation. It seemed to be a cue for everyone in 3-D to storm up to the two teachers, not accepting such a behavior from the head teacher and Washio. Sawada instantly started to make way through the crowd with me following him, feeling anger rising at the unfair treatment.

"I'll kick you all out, especially you, Hyuga!" Sawatari snapped, pointing fingers at me.

"Do whatever the fuck you want!" I snapped back, making his eyes to go wide at my courage to say something to him, trying to calm the guys around so that the situation wouldn't get any worse (I saw Sawada attempting to do the same as our classmates, expressed their anger of the way teachers were humiliating Kumai). "However, you should be prepared for the consequences then!"

"You!"

"Don't lay a hand on my students!" Yamaguchi's voice boomed angrily from the doorway, making us all to look at her, who looked dirty and messy. My eyes widened as I noticed her holding a yellow bag in her hand as she calmly walked through the stunned crowd.

"Kyouto," she spoke, a small hints of supressed anger in her voice, reaching the stage. "I found this," she said, showing the yellow bag to everyone, causing the teachers to surrounded her in curiosity.

"What's that?" Sawatari asked, sounding surprised as he grabbed it from her.

"It's the money bag you were in charge of, isn't it?"

"Where was it?" Washio asked as Sawatari was checking its context, looking baffled that it wasn't Kumai, who stole it.

"The trash can near the boys bathroom," Yamaguchi answered, much for everyone's surprise, especially that of Kumai's and Sawada's, when I took a glance at the two.

"That day, huh?" Sawatari said, seemingly remembering something, blinking at his realization.

"That day?!" Yamaguchi repeated, angrily, louder than she should've.

"Well…uh…no…uh…"

"So that means, it was your mistake after all, correct?" Kawashima concluded, looking kind of smug, as if she had doubted his accusation all the time.

"Well, that's so, isn't it?"

Everyone, including all of the class 3-D, was listening to what was going on, unwilling to miss anything in case we lost some kind of important information. Also, it had something to do with Kumai, who was our classmate and friend.

"What's he saying?"

"Kumai-kun!" Washio instantly said, running over to my classmate, upon reaching him he patted Kumai, pretending to be friendly. It was as if Washio forgot how he had humiliated Kumai just a few minutes before or even kicked him, something of which we could sue him for.

Seeing as I stood close to Kumai, I accidentally stepped on Washio's leg, making him to yelp and glare at me in accusation as I shrugged, muttering a small apology of how this was an 'accident' and how 'sorry' I was. It was difficult to hide the smug grin on my face as I quietly high-fived Uchiyama and Noda, when Washio wasn't looking.

Pay back's a bitch, I thought, crossing my arms, even if it's a small one.

"Well, it's nothing to worry about. Everyone makes mistakes," Yamaguchi said, smiling, victoriously before she started to push us all away. "Okay, come on – go back, come on! Back to your places!"

I rolled my eyes, however, I did follow the rest of my classmates, even if none of us planned on staying there any longer than we had to.

"Alright, you guys - now listen very carefully!" She said, pointing over the crowd, as she stood on the stage. Nearly everyone had turned around to stare at her with raised eyebrows or questioning looks on their faces, what else has she got to say?

"Indeed, the 3D students are a hopeless case, but I happened to become the homeroom teacher of that class." She crossed her arms as she spoke to the mic. Well, apparently this. "This must be fate. You guys, I'll take good care of you till the end."

We stared at her, it was especially our class, who was taken aback at her sudden speech, until one by one, we started to walk towards the exit of the gymnasium. I felt like throwing up at her speech, my face was pale, something of which Uchiyama and Noda took a notice of, reassuringly patting on my back, making me to smile at them.

"No matter what happens, I'll make sure everyone of you graduates!"

At her final declaration we stopped, turning to look back at her, stunned and disbelieving of her words.

...And I really did feel like throwing up.
