Chapter 6: Rockin' Robyn
Mount Justice June 21st 1346 Hours EDT
Quinlan Vos walked into the Watchtower alongside Fire and Wildcat. "Do we have any word from the Young Justice back in the Expanded Universe?" the Jedi Master asked.
Batman turned to the Jedi Master and shook his head. "We've been trying to get in contact with the League on the other side." The Dark Knight explained.
"But we haven't had any luck so far." Superman then stated.
Mister Terrific, who was at the Communications Panel, started to run over towards the members of the Justice League. "We have something!" he reported. "It's not a clear transmission, but we're getting something from the Resolute!" Mister Terrific then said.
"Put them through." Quinlan Vos ordered.
Mister Terrific nodded as he started to clear up the transmission. Soon, Ahsoka, with the Justice League Representatives, the Jedi Knights, the Young Justice recruits that Ahsoka and the Young Justice found during their visit, and a new girl, dressed just like Robin, only more effeminate, appeared on the Holo-Transmitter.
"About time you called." Batman said impatiently.
"The ORDER attacked us, Bruce, so don't blame us." Dinah stated as she placed her hand on her hip. "Anyways, we're going to send someone from here to Earth who needs more experience in fighting alongside others." Black Canary then said.
Robyn stepped up as Martian Manhunter gestured his hand to her. "This is Robyn, the Girl Wonder." J'onn explained as Kalifa soon removed her mask. "She's been fighting in the Coruscant Underworld for quite some time now."
Batman narrowed his eyes at Robyn with both interest and suspicion. "And this girl had kept true to her word?" Bruce asked without a reaction.
Kalifa narrowed her eyes back at the Dark Knight and gave a nod. "Yes," she replied back sternly. "I have."
Ahsoka, wanting to clear away the tension, then cleared her throat. "Batman, Kalifa is an old friend of mine, strong with the Force," Ahsoka reasoned. "She took out the Terror Titans on her own, and has even made a name for herself as Robyn," Ahsoka stated. "And I believe that she's willing to work with you and the Neo Young Justice to help expand her field experience." Ahsoka then added on.
The Justice League members all looked to each other. "We did get SunBlade recently." Vos reminded the Justice League members.
"And it wouldn't hurt to have another member on the Neo Young Justice, after all." Fire then added on.
Superman then smiled. "I mean, I do look forward to having a unique Robin on the Neo Young Justice," Clark stated as he looked to Kalifa with pleasure. "If Robyn has the Force, then she's gonna be a unique addition to us." Superman then said.
"She looks talented," Wildcat then said. "But nonetheless, I'm sure that I can train her."
Ahsoka and Kalifa both smiled to each other. "This will work out, Kalifa," Ahsoka said with reassurance. "I promise. You can trust me."
Kalifa smiled and nodded back. "I know it will," she replied back. "I've always trusted you, after all."
Just then, the door opened up, causing everyone to turn around and see Admiral Yularen standing at the entrance before walking up to them. "Please forgive me for interrupting again, Generals," Yularen said as he walked into the room. "But I must speak with Padawan Tano right now." Yularen then said, looking over to Ahsoka.
Ahsoka narrowed her eyes at Admiral Yularen. "What's going on?" She asked sternly.
"It appears we lost contact with the Young Justice," Admiral Yularen then said as he placed his hand to his chin. "And we've lost their signal over Coruscant."
"What?!" Ahsoka exclaimed.
The Justice League, Robyn, Serra, Lux, Saw, Jaybo and the Jedi Masters all looked to each other in shock before Ahsoka placed her hand on the terminal being used to contact the Justice League and Quinlan Vos back on Earth-16. "Drol, widen our scanners for the Young Justice," Ahsoka then ordered. "If we can't find them here, then either someone took them somewhere or they wandered off on their own." Ahsoka said. "Either way, I don't like this."
Jaybo nodded and started to get back to work on the terminal. "Okay, I'm expanding our scanning range." Drol said as he went to work. "But it will take a while."
"The sooner the better." Ahsoka then said. "I'm starting to worry for them as we speak." Ahsoka added on, placing her fingers to her head. "Please be safe." She then said to herself.
Kalifa then placed her hand on Ahsoka's shoulder. "Do you know how I must have felt when O-Mer, Jinx and I were stranded and hunted now?" The Girl Wonder asked.
Ahsoka looked back to Kalifa and grinned. "Yeah, I see your point." Ahsoka stated, starting to calm down.
"The Young Justice is always alright, Ahsoka." Batman then spoke up. "Trust in them."
Serra then pulled up some footage of the battles Kalifa went through. "As you can see, Kalifa managed to take on the Terror Titans by herself, and had even managed to master SokaTan without any tutelage." The Shan pointed out.
The Justice League, as well as Quinlan Vos, all looked in surprise at how well Kalifa fought on the field, as well as her uncanny similar fighting style to the original Robin.
"She's impressive." Superman noted. "I think she'll make a fine addition."
Ahsoka nodded. "Well, what do you think of Robyn so far?" She asked.
Batman looked down to Kalifa and narrowed his eyes at her, in which she did the same to show that she was serious. After a while, Batman looked to everyone and nodded. "I'll teach her everything about what it means to be like Robin." The Dark Knight said. "Put her in a Gunship and send her through the Vortex," the Dark Knight ordered. "Before she trains with me, she'll need to spend time with the Neo Young Justice first." Batman said.
Ahsoka nodded. "We'll do that." Ahsoka replied back. She then looked down to Jaybo with some concern on her face. "Have you found the Young Justice yet?" She then asked.
Later on, in Mount Justice, all the Neo Young Justice members were starting to gather together as Quinlan Vos stepped up with Fire at his side.
"Do you know what this is all about?" Ray asked Stargirl with curiosity.
"I hear that a new hero from the Expanded Universe is coming here to join us." Courtney replied.
"They're sending someone from the other side to help us?" Cyborg then asked as he stood next to Metamorpho and Rocket II.
"I wonder who it is." Raven then said.
"I hear that this newcomer's strong with the Force." Taiga spoke up. "Maybe they can help me with my training."
"Okay, everyone, settle down." Vos ordered, getting everyone to be quiet.
"As you all might know by now, you're getting a new Team Member to fight alongside you." Fire then said. "She's very strong with the Force, but aside from the experience she's faced in the Expanded Universe, she'll need some field experience with you all." Fire then said.
"So we're getting a Jedi in the Neo Young Justice?" Kid Devil asked.
Quinlan Vos nodded in agreement. "In a way, yes," he replied back before looking over to his Gauntlet. He looked back up to the Neo Young Justice Members. "Robyn will be arriving shortly." He told the Neo Young Justice. "Please make sure that she gets a warm welcome."
Batgirl then stepped up, furrowing her brow with confusion. "Robin's coming back?" She asked. "Doesn't the Young Justice sorta need him in the Expanded Universe?" Barbara then asked.
Quinn shook his head as he walked up. "No, I don't mean Dick," he then said. "This is a different Robyn, a girl." He explained.
Everyone's widened with surprise upon hearing this news. "A female Robin?" Terra asked curiously.
"That sounds cool." Starfire then said after she and Kyle Rayner exchanged looks with each other.
Quinlan Vos nodded at this. "Remember, everyone, Robyn has been through a lot following her times in the Expanded Universe, so try to cut her some slack." The Jedi Master ordered.
All the Neo Young Justice members nodded before they started to get back to what they were doing.
"This will be interesting." Raven said to Terra as the two girls walked over to the Kitchen.
"Dick won't get jealous of a new student for Batman, will he?" Garfield asked he dueled with Cyborg.
"Doubtful." Barbara then said as she and Halo walked past.
"Nonetheless, I'm excited to meet her." Darnice then said while she and Saga dueled with Novastar and SunBlade watching from afar.
Meanwhile, in Hyperspace, Kalifa was on one of the Republic Gunships carrying her. She was still dressed as Robyn, but she wasn't feeling too happy about her position. "What will it be like there?" Kalifa asked herself. "Would they accept me for who I am?"
Ahsoka, who was contacting Kalifa for further updates on the trip to Earth, sighed and rolled her eyes. "Hey, Kalifa, there's no need to worry." Ahsoka said with reassurance in her voice. "My friends on Earth are the best." Ahsoka added on, looking to Kalifa as she let out a smile. "You just need to be more open to them, and sure enough, they'll accept you for who you are." Ahsoka then encouraged her friend.
Kalifa looked to Ahsoka's hologram and smiled, now feeling hopeful. "Thanks, Ahsoka," Kalifa said with a smile. "I'll try my best."
"I know you will." Ahsoka replied back before her hologram disappeared.
A while later, the Republic Gunship came out from Hyperspace. The Neo Young Justice watched as the Gunship started to make its way towards the ground.
"So, this marks the beginning of the Age of the Girl Wonder, I assume?" Snow asked as she looked over to Firestorm.
"Looks like it." Jason replied back.
Soon, the Gunship landed on the ground, near the forest at the back of Mount Justice. Two Clone Troopers came out, followed by Kalifa in her Robyn suit.
Everyone looked to Kalifa with awe as she then looked back to them. She then looked to the side, unsure of what to do.
"Be more open to them, and sure enough, they'll accept you for who you are." Kalifa then remembered Ahsoka say to her.
Kalifa closed her eyes before turning back to the Neo Young Justice, smiling to them once again.
"Well, hi," Kalifa said as she stepped up. "As you all might already know, I'm Robyn." Kalifa said shyly.
Batgirl smiled and held her hand out to the Girl Wonder. "I'm Barbara, Barbara Gordon." The female Dark Knight introduced herself. "We've been told about you." Batgirl added on.
Kalifa smiled as she shook Batgirl's hand. "Nice to meet you, Barbara." Kalifa said in a much more open voice this time. She then let out a chuckle. "Well, you already introduced who you really are, so allow me to do the same." Kalifa then said, stepping back.
Everyone looked to Robyn with confusion as she then started to remove her domino mask from her face. Her true face was soon revealed to everyone as she sent them all a smile. "I'm Kalifa." Kalifa then said.
Beast Boy started to smile at this. "Kalifa from the stories Ahsoka used to tell me!" Garfield Logan exclaimed. "I can't believe you're not dead!"
Robyn chuckled as she placed her mask back on. "Well, I was almost dead, but then, well…" Kalifa started to trail off. "It's a long story." She then told everyone.
"We've got all day." Novastar said with a smile on her face.
"Tell us how you survived!" Supergirl then asked with eagerness.
Kalifa chuckled as she then started to walk into Mount Justice with the rest of the Neo Young Justice surrounding her.
Batman looked to Robyn talk with the Neo Young Justice as she came in with them. He watched everything from the shadows, not wanting to be seen. "Interesting." Batman noted as he inspected Robyn.
Robyn looked over to the side where Batman was watching her from. "You can come out now, Batman." Kalifa said with a grin on her face.
Batman's eyes widened when he heard this. Slowly, he emerged from the shadows, now starting to walk over towards Kalifa with surprise that she knew he was there.
"You're Robyn, am I correct?" Batman asked.
Kalifa nodded at this. "The Girl Wonder herself." Kalifa said as she played with her hair a bit.
"We've been told so much about how you fought alongside Ahsoka during the Hunt." Vixen then said as she patted Kalifa on the shoulder.
"Did she now?" Kalifa asked with an eyebrow raised. "She must have said a lot about me to you guys, then." Kalifa mused while a grin came onto her face.
"So, what kind of vigilante work did you do in the Expanded Universe?" Jinx then asked, walking up to Robyn. Kalifa looked to the magician with amusement before Jinx held her hand out. "Oh, I'm Jinx, by the way." Jinx then said.
Kalifa chuckled as she shook Jinx's hand. "One of the Jedi I worked alongside with was named Jinx too." Kalifa mused as she and Jinx smiled to each other. "Only difference between you two was that the Jinx I worked with was a male." Kalifa added on with a chuckle.
Jinx chuckled at this before Cyborg then stepped up. "Want us to show you around the Cave?" He asked in a friendly tone. "I'm sure you'll love your stay here."
"I can assure you," Robyn then said as she walked with her new friends. "I think I'm liking it here already." She quipped, causing the others to laugh.
Batman narrowed his eyes at Robyn. "Just like Dick," the Dark Knight mused. "She has a dark past, and wants to cover it up." He then said before walking away.
Later on, Raven, Cyborg, Batgirl, Beast Boy and Starfire were showing Robyn around the Cave. Robyn looked all around with interest. "I'm impressed by this Mount Justice of yours." She said as she came across Wally's Souvenir Room. "I'm just a bit confused as to why this is a secret base, yet everyone knows where it is." Kalifa then said as she raised an eyebrow while looking to the eyeball of the android that the Young Justice first fought, Mister Twister. "They take lives?" She then asked as she showed them the eyeball.
"No, that was from a robot." Cyborg replied.
"And to answer your other question, Mount Justice was originally a base for the Justice League before the Joker, one of Batman's enemies, invaded the place." Batgirl then said. "It was abandoned in 2005, and for the seven years that came after, no one has thought to think of this place as a Headquarters since it was so abandoned." Barbara went on.
"So it's a secret base in plain sight?" Kalifa asked as she placed the eyeball back. She then shrugged before looking to the VHS that Kid Flash had as a souvenir from the Mission to Bialya from the previous two years. "What's this supposed to be?" She asked, looking into it. "Downgraded Datapad?" Kalifa asked as she looked to it.
"It's an old VHS." Beast Boy then said.
"And yeah, but the Cave has high-tech security, ever since the Young Justice faced an invasion from the Red Androids at one time." Terra then said.
Robyn chuckled as she placed the VHS back where it originally was. "Interesting," Kalifa said with amusement. "I didn't know that the Young Justice had so much to them." She then said. "And all these belong to whom exactly?" Kalifa asked as she looked to the random objects on the shelves.
"Wally collects these from Missions as Souvenirs." Batgirl said. "The original Young Justice went on plenty of Missions before Ahsoka and her friends came." Raven then said this time.
"Wow." Kalifa then said as she looked to each of the Souvenirs. "Each one of these Souvenirs came from one mission after another, huh?" Kalifa asked as she looked to each Souvenir. "Must have been some amazing journeys they went on during the days."
Starfire nodded and walked up to Kalifa with her hand on the Girl Wonder's shoulder. "We can't wait to see you in action." Kori said with enthusiasm.
Kalifa smiled and nodded as the two walked away from the room.
"So, do you think you could tell us about some of your missions back on Coruscant?" Starfire asked kindly.
"Not really much to talk about, Star." Kalifa replied back as she grinned.
"But there has to be at least something exciting that happened back in the Expanded Universe!" Cyborg then said.
"Tell us, please?" Beast Boy then asked as if everyone were toddlers wanting to hear a bedtime story.
Kalifa chuckled at everyone, rolling her eyes. She eventually gave up. "Okay, so there was this one time I took down an entire Pyke Syndicate army." Kalifa started out. "They were delivering illegal goods into the Underworld, so before their ship arrived, I crept into the Pyke Base and knocked out everyone. At this time, I had no weapons to use." Kalifa explained to them all.
"So, what happened?" Batgirl then asked.
Kalifa once again chuckled. "Okay, their tower controlled only their shipments, and with no weapons, I used the only thing available to me: a broom." Kalifa then said.
Everyone oohed at this before Kalifa began to go on. "I knocked out everyone, wiped the floor with them, as the Earth Saying goes, and when I got into the Control Room, I literally cleaned the Leader of the Operation to the point that he was slipping on everything he touched!" Kalifa exclaimed as she made hand motions to revive the event, chuckling as she remembered what had happened. "I handed him in spic and span, and he canceled that whole operation." She finished up.
There were laughs and cheers from the Neo Young Justice members with Kalifa after she told her story. Sure enough, Kalifa couldn't help but laugh at her experience as well.
In the Training Room, Raven, Batgirl, Cyborg, Beast Boy and Starfire took their new friend to see what was going on. Robyn looked around to see the Neo Young Justice members spar with each other. Novastar was in combat against Red Star while Geo Force battled against Terra. All around, members of the Neo Young Justice were training with one another.
"Wow!" Kalifa exclaimed as she watched the battles go on. "You sure know how to train hard." Kalifa mused as Rocket II battled against Firestorm.
Quinlan Vos was watching over everyone until he noticed Kalifa in the room. He activated his lightsaber, causing everyone to stop.
"Kid Devil, you fight against Robyn." Vos ordered to Edward.
Kid Devil nodded as he disengaged combat with Stingray.
Quinlan Vos smiled as he then watched Robyn step into the ring with Kid Devil as her opponent. Kid Devil unsheathed his trident and twirled it around, spinning it in front of himself as Robyn approached him.
Kalifa let out a chuckle and took out a small baton in one hand and a birdarang in the other. Everyone watched as Robyn placed the birdarang onto the tip of the baton, fastening it and then twirling it around in front of her. She spun it around and let the staff extend, forming her Birdarang Axe with a calm demeanor.
Kid Devil looked on in surprise as Robyn twirled around her Birdarang Axe in the same way he did not too long ago.
Kid Devil then charged towards Robyn with his trident armed. Kalifa ran towards Edward as well before the two met midway with each other.
Robyn and Kid Devil immediately clashed staffs with each other. The two had blades locked high before Edward swung his trident low, attempting to sweep Kalifa off of her feet. Kalifa just spun over the staffs and landed at the side of Kid Devil, sending a jab towards him.
Kid Devil avoided the jab and then performed an overhead swing, which Kalifa once again evaded by jumping on top of the trident. Using the Force, Kalifa became as light as a feather, much to everyone's surprise.
Kid Devil flew into the air and attempted to kick Kalifa off of his weapon, but Kalifa leapt over him, sending a kick to his back and knocking Kid Devil to the ground.
Quinlan Vos clapped his hands after marveling at the sparring match. "Good job," he complimented Kalifa as he walked up. Kalifa turned to Master Vos and then bowed respectfully in response. "Now, who's next?" Vos asked as he looked to the rest of the Neo Young Justice.
Taiga then stepped up, adjusting his armor so that he would be officially prepared to take on the new Girl Wonder.
Kalifa grinned as she sheathed her Birdarang Axe back at her side. "Wow, you're strong with the Force." Kalifa mused as she got into a basic fighting stance. "I've never felt anyone with this much Force Power before." Kalifa added on. "What's your secret?" She then asked.
Taiga chuckled. "Like you said before, it's a long story." He replied back. "But our fight will be shorter." He then quipped.
Kalifa laughed back and placed one hand in front of her chest while her other arm was held at the side of her waist.
Taiga stood in the same stance and charged at Robyn. Robyn sidestepped and sent forth a jab, which Taiga almost failed to catch. Luckily, Danny managed to counter the attack and send a kick to Kalifa in response. Kalifa ducked from the attack and sent a jab to Taiga's neck. Taiga gasped and choked for a minute, but regained himself as Kalifa twirled into the air and sent down a spinning corkscrew kick, countering it with a three sixty degree kick.
Kalifa twirled back down to the ground, safely onto her feet. Taiga spun around and stood balanced as well, the two now staring each other down.
The Neo Young Justice watched in anticipation to see what would happen next. Kalifa charged at Taiga once again, where Taiga sent a punch to her chest. Kalifa continued to press on until she eventually punched Taiga back, the two being sent back.
Everyone applauded as Kalifa walked up to Taiga and shook his hand, in which Danny did the same to Kalifa with satisfaction.
"Excellent Match!" Wildcat then said as he walked in from the side. "I must say, Robyn," Ted then said as he patted Kalifa on the shoulder. "You're much better then I expected." He complimented.
Kalifa smiled at this as Batgirl walked over towards her. "You liking it here?" Barbara asked.
Kalifa nodded. "It's everything Ahsoka told me it would be like." Kalifa replied as she placed her hand onto her hip.
Just then, Batman came in. Quinlan Vos and Wildcat signaled for everyone to be ready for the Dark Knight, getting everyone to gather into a single-file line together.
"We have received reports that the Light has been performing operations somewhere in Gotham." Batman informed the Neo Young Justice.
Everyone looked back and forth to each other. Robyn raised an eyebrow in confusion. "What's the Light?" She asked.
"A group of villains leading different factions," Batgirl explained. "They made their first revelation when they took control of the Justice League one time." Batgirl then explained.
"They're trying to make a name for themselves since the ORDER appeared and started besting them in every operation." Red Star then explained.
Batman nodded. "Recently, Polaris and the Key have been on a crime spree, but their robberies have been making a pattern." Batman then said. He showed everyone footage of Polaris and the Key robbing several museums and warehouses. "They've stolen all weapons from the museums and have taken possession of engine parts from the warehouse districts near the docks and the Railroads." Batman explained. "We've contacted neutral sources for information, but they don't know anything about what is going on." The Dark Knight added on.
Robyn then looked to the screen. She was intrigued by the way Earth had holographic technology, and how well the Justice League could use it, but after hearing about these recent robberies, something began to rise in her mind. "Wait a minute," she interrupted, seeing every place that was robbed. "I've seen this before." She said.
Everyone looked to Robyn as she ran up to the controls. To her, working the holocomputer was like doing a simple maintenance check in a Republic Star Cruiser.
Batman watched as Robyn brought up the signs of each museum, warehouse and factory with a theft. Each of the signs were different, but bring the Girl Wonder for quite a while now made her recognize a puzzle when she saw it.
Batgirl looked to what Robyn was doing and raised an eyebrow. "What are you seeing, Kalifa?" Barbara asked with confusion.
Kalifa continued to type away before removing the letters on the signs, leaving only the starting letters of the signs on the screen. "I found this out while tailing the Hutt Clan on Coruscant." Robyn started to explain. "Take the first letters of these signs, and you'll find out done thing crazy." Kalifa then said as she brought together the signs.
"'Ferris Air and Space', 'Elena Racing', 'Newark Science Center', 'Robert Herjavec Technology Enterprise', 'Island Dock Warehouse', and once again, 'Robert Herjavec Technology Enterprise'." Kalifa read out loud to everyone. "All letters connected in a specific order spell out to make the word 'Fenrir'." Robyn then said.
Batman looked to the screen and raised an eyebrow. "Fenrir'?" He asked. "Interesting."
Robyn then turned back to the Dark Knight. "You know this Fenrir, don't you?" The Girl Wonder questioned.
Batman sent a silent nod. "Fenrir is the head of a supernatural faction of the League of Shadows." Batman explained. "It was called WildStorm. I fought Fenrir one time before the Justice League was formed, but he had WildStorm backing him up, and I was forced to retreat." The Dark Knight went on. "Fenrir's nothing but a coward."
"Yet you ran." Kalifa then said as she placed her hand on her hip. "I've been there before, so there's no way you can deny it." Kalifa started to taunt.
Batman let out a silent growl before Kalifa let out a grin.
"He can't be defeated," Batman finally said after a moment of silence. "I know, I've tried."
"But not hard enough, obviously." Kalifa spat back.
The entire Neo Young Justice then stood back as they watched Kalifa talk down to Batman, something no one had dared to do before.
Batman let out a sigh and started to type at the holocomputer in an attempt to change the subject. "Locate Fenrir, as well as Polaris and the Key." He ordered. "You will be placed in a Team of four other Neo Young Justice Members. This is—"
"Strictly a Covert Operation." Kalifa then finished up.
Batman narrowed his eyes at Kalifa before going on, as if she said nothing. "On the first sign of danger of getting caught, you are to—"
"Fall back, but remember to retrieve the stolen items and return them to their respective owners." Kalifa finished up once again as a grin came onto her face.
Batman started to growl under his breath, but it was now clear to everyone that he was officially on edge. "If you must fight them, do so, but do—"
"Not give away your position or even get caught." Kalifa then said, crossing her arms. "Paying a ransom is the last thing the Justice League needs."
Batman started to scowl. "Stop saying—"
"Everything…" Kalifa once again said.
"That I'm—"
"About to tell everyone."
Quinlan Vos sighed as he placed his hand to his head. "Well, who wants to go with Robyn?" The Jedi Master asked.
Cyborg then stepped up. "I'm in." Victor announced.
Starfire started to fly forwards. "Count me in." Starfire said with confidence.
"Ahsoka assigned me to look after the Neo Young Justice, so I guess I'm going." Beast Boy then said.
Raven chuckled before looking to everyone else. "I guess that they could use some magic." Rachel then said. With that, she flew up too. "Sign me up."
Robyn chuckled and walked up to the selected Neo Young Justice Members. "I'll do my best to work with you all." Kalifa announced as she sent Cyborg, Beast Boy, Raven and Starfire smiles of appreciation.
The four smiled back, all feeling glad that they had Robyn as part of the Neo Young Justice now.
All Batman could do was narrow his eyes at the new Girl Wonder, now having new thoughts about her. She doesn't shy away from my authority. Batman thought to himself. Dick didn't shy away from me either, no matter what. Bruce thought further on. She might be just the one. The Dark Knight then deducted.
Gotham City June 21st 1616 Hours EST
Robyn arrived in Gotham City with Raven, Beast Boy, Cyborg and Starfire by her side to help guide her around.
"Welcome to Earth's version of the Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy." Beast Boy said to Kalifa as the small group arrived. "Ahsoka told us all about Tatooine and how it's like Gotham." Garfield then explained.
"Reminds me of the Coruscant Underworld." Kalifa mused while looking around. "And Batman has to handle all the crime here on his own?" The Girl Wonder then asked.
"Well, for the moment, he has Batgirl to help him out," Raven then explained. Rachel then chuckled and placed her hand on Kalifa's shoulder. "But hey, now that you're here, I'm sure he'll be happy, or at least, what we think is his happy expression, when he takes you under his wing, no pun intended." Raven then said.
"I don't get it." Kalifa then said with an eyebrow raised.
"What Roth here means is that you'll be the very first Girl Wonder that Batman will have had at his side." Starfire then explained.
Kalifa shook her head. "No, I got that part," Robyn said with reassurance. "It's the 'No pun intended' thing I don't get." Kalifa explained while furrowing her brow.
"Oh." Victor said as the Neo Young Justice Team made their way around a corner of a warehouse. "It's just a figure of speech," Cyborg explained. "You'll find that we have a lot of odd ones that we use here on Earth." Cyborg added on.
Kalifa sent Cyborg a nod before she looked around the corner. There were two yellow flying Droids coming towards their position.
"Surveillance Droids!" Kalifa exclaimed quietly. "Separatist Models." She then said, turning back to face the rest of her Squad. "This Light, they've formed a pact with Count Dooku during the Battle of Earth?" Robyn asked.
Everyone nodded. "On the day before the ORDER attacked Earth, Count Dooku arrived with his Separatist Army and tried to conquer Earth," Starfire started to explain. "All the heroes of Earth fought Grievous and his Droid Army at the White House while Ahsoka led the Young Justice to stop Dooku in space." Starfire went on.
"We won that fight," Cyborg then said. "But it turns out that Dooku had formed a pact with the Light, and for all we know, they could have begun an attack in the Expanded Universe." Victor added on.
Upon hearing this, Kalifa soon let out a sigh. "The Light obviously doesn't know what kind of dangers they're dealing with here." Kalifa said with concern. "We'd better end this operation before they let themselves be deceived by that Sith Scum and destroy this whole Planet." Kalifa then said before taking out some birdarangs from her utility belt.
"This should take them out for a while." Robyn then said before throwing the birdarangs she had gotten out.
Cyborg watched as the birdarangs soon shorted out the Surveillance Droids. After a while, they started to float again.
"Was that a dud?" Victor asked with an eyebrow raised.
Kalifa chuckled and shook her head. She then walked out in front of the two Droids, which didn't sound off as the Girl Wonder passed. "We have three more minutes until they activate and function properly again." Robyn announced. "Right now, they're seeing repeats of this area without us in it." Kalifa explained to her Squad.
The Neo Young Justice members chuckled and ran after Robyn, managing to evade the Droids as they continued to fly.
Raven looked to Robyn and smiled, in which Kalifa smiled back. "Nice job there, rookie." Rachel said.
"Hey," Kalifa said in a playful offended tone. "I've been acting as a vigilante on Coruscant for as long as Ahsoka and the Young Justice fought in the Expanded Universe!" Robyn then exclaimed.
Beast Boy laughed and looked up to Kalifa as he let out a smile. "I'm glad that you're still alive." Beast Boy stated. "When Ahsoka told me about how you made that noble sacrifice to help her and your friends escape, I think of you as my idol." Garfield explained.
Kalifa smiled back. "I'm glad you think so," Robyn replied as she patted Beast Boy on the head. "But let me warn you, the road to rebirth isn't an easy one." Kalifa then said to Beast Boy, now with a slightly concerned look on her face.
Garfield Logan nodded as he walked with Kalifa towards the Warehouse.
Starfire looked over towards Robyn and smiled to her as well. Kalifa sent the same smile back as Cyborg lightly punched her in the shoulder. Kalifa could do nothing but chuckle as she took lead of her Squad into the Warehouse.
Inside, Fenrir was looking over the operations. Fenrir was a dark-skinned man with silver armor and red lining. His helmet, held in his hands, was in the shape of a wolf, and there was a red crystal embedded on the helm as its headpiece.
Sportsmaster walked up to Fenrir alongside Deathstroke as the operation within the Warehouse proceeded as planned. "Vandal contacted us," Crusher Crock stated. "He and the rest of the Light want an update on our progress." Sportsmaster added on.
Fenrir slowly turned his head towards the two top Generals of the Light. "I see," Fenrir said. "Tell them that the new Fighters Count Dooku commissioned WildStorm to make for him are nearly complete."
"And WildStorm couldn't have pulled it off without our help." A voice then said.
Everyone looked to see a man come out from beside Fenrir. He had blue armor with grey mesh underneath. In the center of his chest was a sign with a magnet on it, and his head was shaped like a horseshoe. This was Polaris, a man like no other.
"Remember me too." Another voice then said.
From the shadows, a man jumped down from some crates. He had light brown armor, and at his side was a large key sheathed as if it were a sword. He wore a black cloak over his armor, and he was dark-skinned with black unkempt hair. This man was known as the Key.
"All of these parts will make the deadliest Fighters known in any galaxy," Deathstroke spoke up as he crossed his arms. "We can mass-produce them, all unmanned drones." Slade Wilson then added on. "With the exception of no shields, these Fighters have precision firing and can outmaneuver any obstacle."
"And with the Twin Ion Engines we modified," Fenrir went on. "They'll make an entire army for the Separatists." Fenrir remarked. He then let out a chuckle. "Twin Ion Engine Fighters, or, as I like to call them, TIE Fighters."
Meanwhile, the Neo Young Justice members had already made their way into the Warehouse. Upon having arrived, they heard everything. "I can't believe this!" Starfire exclaimed softly.
Robyn and Cyborg both looked to the Fighters being made and both held out their hands, starting to scan them. Each so-called TIE Fighter had an orb-like cockpit in the middle with hexagon-shaped wings on both sides. Engines and wings were being placed on each Fighter as the Assembly Line moved without end.
"Every stolen part that Polaris and the Key stole is being used to create these… Thai Fighters, did they say?" Cyborg said, raising an eyebrow.
"An acronym, I believe." Kalifa replied back. "But if these Fighters get into Dooku's slimy hands, then the Republic will be on for one Hell of a Shocker." Kalifa then said as she put her Birdarang Scanner down. She then looked to the rest of the Neo Young Justice members with her. "What's the closest thing any of you have that's similar to Miss Martian's Psychic Link?" The Girl Wonder asked.
"I'm working on my own," Raven then spoke up. "But I don't think it's ready to use yet without taking some risks." Raven added on, placing her hand to her chin.
"Well, I could try to use flashes and Morse Code," Cyborg suggested. "But they might attract attention." Vic then pointed out.
"Look, we have to forget about that for now and focus on the Mission at hand." Starfire said as she brought everyone back to reality. "Lots of Billionaires and Companies are gonna want their tech back, and if they've already been corrupted by the Light, then we've got no choice but to destroy them." Koriand'r then told everyone.
"You're right," Beast Boy then said. "But remember, Covert Ops Mission." Garfield pointed out.
As this was happening, Fenrir was continuing to talk with Polaris, the Key, Sportsmaster and Deathstroke on the catwalk above.
"Dooku wants to have at least ten ready for delivery to the Expanded Universe." Deathstroke then told Fenrir. "There, his workers on Geonosis can help to make modifications to our project."
Fenrir nodded in agreement. "It will be done," he replied back. "And it should provide a perfect cover for us while Ra's and Klarion are preparing for their attack in the Expanded Universe too." Fenrir added on.
As this conversation was going on, something caught Sportsmaster's eye when he turned to continue seeing the progress of the TIE Fighters. He started to take out his javelin as he saw the shadows of five figures behind some crates.
Robyn sensed what Sportsmaster was seeing and took out a birdarang from her belt. The Neo Young Justice members looked to Kalifa with surprise and confusion as she then made her way towards the edge of the crate they were hiding behind.
Sportsmaster tossed his javelin towards the crates just as Robyn then tossed her birdarang around the side. Both throwing objects collided with each other, but the birdarang sent by Robyn sliced through the javelin sent by Sportsmaster and made its way towards the Assassins.
Robyn then used the Force to guide the birdarang away from its course, trying to let it come back to her. However, Crusher was curious of the projectile and caught it.
That was it.
Kalifa let out a soft scoff and clenched her fist, causing the birdarang to explode as Sportsmaster went to take a closer look.
"What was that for?!" Cyborg exclaimed to Kalifa with disbelief.
"Somehow, that guy in the mask knew we were here," Kalifa explained to the Neo Young Justice. "We were going to get spotted, one way or another!"
At that moment, Deathstroke shot his gun at the crates, but Kalifa used the Force to stop them and let them drop to the ground.
Shadow Assassins emerged from the darkness all around them, unsheathing swords or loading up guns.
Sportsmaster and Deathstroke went to investigate the disturbance as the Key took out his large melee key. Polaris began to run towards the location where the Neo Young Justice members were as Fenrir took out a rifle.
Soon, Robyn, Raven, Beast Boy, Starfire and Cyborg were surrounded. Each of the Assassins aimed their respective weapons at the five of the teens while at the same time, Crusher and Slade whipped out their bladed weapons, swords and javelin, and stared the Neo Young Justice down.
Deathstroke aimed his gun at the four Neo Young Justice members, Raven, Beast Boy, Starfire and Cyborg. However, upon seeing Robyn, his one widened with surprise. "What?" He flatly asked incredulously.
Sportsmaster then took notice of the newest addition to the Neo Young Justice and raised an eyebrow in confusion under his mask. "Who's this?" He asked as he noticed the Girl Wonder.
Everyone else lowered their weapons as well once they took notice of Robyn in their midst.
"A new bird?" Fenrir asked as he looked to Robyn.
"Who is this Poser?" Sportsmaster then asked.
"The name's Robyn, the Girl Wonder." Kalifa spat as she readied ten birdarangs in her hands.
Deathstroke let out a small chuckle. "Is that so?" He asked, not feeling intimidated by the appearance of the new heroine. "Did Batman finally get tired of the Boy Wonder and go for a nice girl?" He then taunted.
"Old Geezer, I am anything but nice." Robyn spat back. "We're shutting down your little operation." She then announced.
"Fat chance." Polaris quipped. He then fired a beam towards the Girl Wonder. "Now, let's see what this new bird can do." Polaris retorted.
Robyn just remained where she was and held her hand out, causing the blast to stop.
Everyone then gasped. Robyn flicked her hand, causing the blast to be sent back towards Polaris.
Polaris gasped as well and was soon hot by his own attack, getting thrown back into the wall.
"I can't believe this!" Sportsmaster exclaimed.
"Then prepare to lieve, now!" She exclaimed. "Everyone, go!" Robyn ordered the Neo Young Justice members. "They're about to feel the Aster!"
Raven chuckled as she flew off. "Just like Robin." She mused to herself.
In front of Raven, several Shadow Assassins started to throw shurikens towards Raven. Raven chuckled and held her hands out. "Azarath Metrion Zinthos!" Raven incanted, causing a large, black manifestation of a raven to appear and then attack the Assassins.
The shurikens were stopped in midair, getting disintegrated by Raven's magic before the raven she sent swooped down and knocked them all to the ground, rendering them all unconscious.
Starfire then flew towards more Shadow Assassins as they started to shoot bullets at her. The Tamaranean just shot starbolts from her eyes, destroying the bullets before they could make impact on her body. That was when she thrust her hand forwards before twirling around and then spinning while her body shone with energy. In a flash of light, Starfire sent the Assassins flying, throwing them around like rag dolls.
Beast Boy started to run like a cheetah, evading all of the gunfire that fired in his direction. When he got close enough, he morphed into a Minotaur, punching thirteen Assassins before turning into a stag and jabbed two more Shadow Assassins in the chests, bashing them into the wall.
Cyborg started to blast at the Key and Polaris. He managed to send Polaris back, but the Key laughed and leapt at Victor and slammed his key down. Cyborg created a chainsaw arm and slashed at the Key's Weapon, clashing with him. As the two circled each other, Polaris got back up and ran towards Cyborg.
"You're finished, Stone!" Polaris exclaimed.
Cyborg looked over to the side and formed a cannon arm from his left hand. He started to shoot towards Polaris, but Polaris just raised his hand into the air and caused a sonic wave to spread out.
Victor Stone gasped and tried to get out of the way, but a magnetic field prevented him from escaping.
"Nice!" The Key exclaimed. He then started to level his Key Sword at Cyborg. "Now to open him up." The Key then said gorily.
Cyborg grunted and managed to get one of his hands free. He tried to shoot at the Key, but he dodged to the side. Cyborg anticipated this move and shot at Polaris instead, breaking the Magnetic Field in the process.
The Key then aimed his sword at Cyborg, turning it. Cyborg noticed this and tried to shoot at the Key, but with the Key's special powers, his blaster was now locked.
"Now I open you up!" The Key yelled out as he ran over towards Cyborg.
Cyborg backed away and picked up a metal rod, clashing with the Key Sword. The Key laughed madly and swung at Victor, trying to slash him open. Cyborg blocked the attack, but at the cost of his own weapon. As the Key swung down, Cyborg used both of his hands to catch the sword before throwing the Key off and placing his sword in Victor's own hands. The Key growled and attempted to regain his weapon, but Cyborg reactivated his weapons again before slamming the giant key onto the Key's head, knocking him out cold.
Meanwhile, Kalifa was taking on Sportsmaster and Deathstroke both at the same time. Sportsmaster swung his saber at the Girl Wonder, but Robyn used the Force to sidestepped and slammed Crusher in the back with her baton before seeing Deathstroke try to slice down at her with his sword. Kalifa held her baton up high and blocked the blade before sending a birdarang towards Deathstroke, throwing him off.
Sportsmaster then took out his javelin and performed a wide slash at Kalifa's chest, but Kalifa managed to pull in her chest before attaching her birdarang onto the tip of her baton, forming a small version of her Birdarang Axe before Deathstroke struck at her with a dagger. Kalifa used her small Axe to knock the blade away before she then extended the baton, forming her special Birdarang Axe and then using it to block an overhead thrust from Sportsmaster using his javelin. The two locked their weapons with each other for at least thirty seconds before Robyn then broke off, knocking the javelin into the air and then using the narrow end of her Pole Axe to stab Sportsmaster in the stomach.
Fenrir growled and took out his rifle, starting to shoot at Robyn alongside Deathstroke.
Robyn looked to the side and started to swing her Birdarang Axe wide, back and forth as she deflected the bullets. Kalifa then sent a Force-Push towards Deathstroke, sending him back before tossing some birdarangs towards Fenrir.
Fenrir growled and placed his helmet onto his head. "I'll make you bleed for your intercession!" Fenrir exclaimed as he then converted his rifle into a sword.
Robyn chuckled. "You don't like my interference, huh?" Robyn asked slyly. "Well then, you sure won't like this ference!" She then exclaimed, placing a birdarang-shaped guard in the center of her Birdarang Axe, creating a cross guard in the shape of a birdarang itself.
Kalifa then started to spin her Birdarang Axe around like a saw.
Fenrir growled and lunged at Robyn with his blade. The two clashed blades with each other, Kalifa's Axe actually being forced to stop spinning. Kalifa broke off with Fenrir and struck at him again, this time pushing Fenrir back.
"You'll get it now!" Kalifa exclaimed as she twirled her spinning Birdarang Axe all around her body.
Sportsmaster and Deathstroke then got back up, just as Kalifa leapt into the air and spun around, causing everyone to look to her as the Force ran through her body. She then tossed her Birdarang Axe down at the Assassins before it made its way towards Fenrir, Sportsmaster and Deathstroke, the large wave from the Birdarang Axe slamming into the three.
Soon, the three Generals of the Light were thrown off of their feet. Robyn regained her Birdarang Axe just as the rest of the Neo Young Justice with her regrouped and ran alongside the Girl Wonder while she rested her Pole Axe onto her shoulder.
"Fall back!" Sportsmaster ordered the Shadow Assassins while he regained his javelin.
"This isn't over!" Deathstroke called out while he ran off.
Fenrir scoffed and calmly walked out without a word.
Kalifa and the Neo Young Justice members all grinned. "Not too bad for your first mission with us, Robyn." Cyborg complimented the Girl Wonder as he patted her on the shoulder.
"You're good!" Raven then said. "You think you can teach us some of your moves?" Rachel Roth then asked.
Kalifa sent them all nods. "Thank you, all of you," she replied back. "I feel like I'm really going to like it here knowing that you're all by my side." The Girl Wonder said.
Kalifa then turned back around, extending her arm out and using the Force to disassemble the TIE Fighters. "Now, let's get the League here and return these parts, shall we?" Robyn said to everyone.
Western Mongolia June 22nd 0016 Hours ITC-7:00 Hours
Sportsmaster, Deathstroke and Fenrir all stood before the seven members of the Light, as well as Count Dooku in their midst.
"What is our progress?" Lex Luthor asked the three Generals.
Sportsmaster lowered his head. "Forgive the intrusion, Superiors," Crusher said as he removed his mask. "But our production of special Fighters has been disturbed by the intrusion of the Neo Young Justice," Sportsmaster reported. "But this time, it was different," Sportsmaster then explained. "The leader of this cell called herself Robyn, a female version of the original Boy Wonder we had to deal with in the past, only with the Force on her side." Sportsmaster added on.
Vandal Savage looked to the Assassins with disappointment. "A new heroine?" He asked.
"As if there weren't enough brats to deal with already!" Klarion then remarked as he stroked Teekl in his hands.
Count Dooku looked on with concern. "I see," the Count said. "Sportsmaster, Slade, this girl must have been sent from the Expanded Universe," Dooku said to the two Generals. "The next time something comes through, I want you to make sure that it is destroyed." Dooku ordered. "Do I make myself clear?"
Sportsmaster and Deathstroke nodded in agreement. "We will do what we must, Count Dooku." Slade replied back.
Meanwhile, back at Mount Justice, Batman looked over the schematics of the TIE Fighters that WildStorm was building.
"WildStorm was planning to send these through the Vortex," Robyn explained. "We were caught, but we managed to send the Light running and return everything to their rightful owners." Kalifa added on.
Batman silently looked to the schematics before looking back to Kalifa and the Neo Young Justice. "You did well on your first mission," the Dark Knight said to Robyn as his eyes bore into hers. Like before, this did not bother Kalifa at the least. "While the League now has Polaris and the Key in custody, we shall look further into this operation, and while you performed excellently, but there's still lots for you to learn here on Earth." He added on. "Now, while you were gone, I spoken to the Neo Young Justice and the Justice League about you, and I've come to a decision." He then said, changing the subject.
Kalifa raised an eyebrow. "Where are you getting at with this, Sir?" She asked respectfully.
A grin came onto Batman's face. "Tomorrow, you will come back to Gotham with me, and I will teach you everything there is to know under my wing." He announced. "After seeing your progress since the day you got here, I'd say that you're ready to undergo the same training I gave the original Robin." Batman added on.
Kalifa looked to Batman with surprise. "Wow, this is huge!" She exclaimed softly.
Batman nodded. "It takes more than being a lone wolf and wearing a suit to become Robyn." Batman said. "Do I have your word that you'll do everything in your power to live up to your name?" Batman asked as he held his hand out.
Kalifa started to stutter before she was elbowed by Batgirl. Both looked to each other, Barbara nudging her head towards Batman. Kalifa chuckled before looking back to Batman, nodding. "You have my word." Kalifa then said. With that, the two shook hands.
I might just like it here after all. Kalifa then thought to herself. Everyone cheered for Robyn, their newest Team member and most importantly, their new friend.
Author's Note: Well, everyone, did you like my new Chapter? This took me two weeks to get done! I can't believe I'm finished! Sorry for the long update, but I'm in a lot of shock from a recent event that took a heavy toll on me for a long time, even today. I'll cut to the chase, as I'm dedicating this to my younger brother, whose name I cannot disclose for special reasons. He is, however, an author on FanFiction, but that's all I can say about him. He was in the Hospital, and was discharged last week. Sorry this took so long, but the news of my younger brother put me in shock for quite some time, since I used to have another brother who died before I was born.
