Hello, everyone! I know. It's been forever. I'm going to have to end the story here, due to the fact that I have a whole bunch of other stories to work on.
NellytheActress: Yes, it is now!
"This is it, everyone!" Nia smiled as she walked onto the stage. Everyone was in their costumes. The head herself was wearing a stunning pink dress with a large pink ribbon tied in a bow the back. "Opening night!"
"How exciting!" Glinda beamed.
"I know. We've been working so hard these past few months," Happy said, straightening out her blue dress.
"Now, we need everyone to get into hair, makeup and costumes. Let us know if you need any help," woodland59 smiled.
Within the next few minutes, everyone was shouting for the girls.
"Where's my bubble wand?"
"And my suitcase?"
"I can't find my red cap!"
"These pants are too tight!"
"This wig is itchy!"
"You shouldn't have said that," TheWickedrae muttered to woodland59.
"I was just trying to be nice," woodland59 defended herself.
"Glinda, you're wand is in your dressing room. Elphaba's suitcase is backstage left. Boq, you're on your own. Suck it up, Fiyero! Morrible, nobody cares," Nia said, solving everyone's problems.
"I can't get into these pants! They're too tight," Fiyero whined.
"So… what do you want us to do?" Happy asked.
"Find other pants!"
"That's the only pair we have."
"I'm going to cut off my circulation."
"Well, you obviously didn't care about that while you were at Shiz!"
"Are we at Shiz now?"
"Guys, we don't have time for arguing!" woodland59 said stepping in.
"She's right," TheWickedrae agreed. "We have four hours till curtain. We still have to check with the light and sound guys to make sure everything is ready.
The girls and characters took the next few hours preparing for the show.
"Thank you all for coming and we hope you enjoy the show," the male announcer voice said. Woodland59 was down in the orchestra pit, conducting. She gave the cue and the music started. The monkeys flew onto the stage and started dancing.
"Good news! She's dead! The Witch of the West is dead! The wickedest witch there ever was. The enemy of all of us here in Oz is DEAD!" the ensemble sang, having a party.
"Look, its Glinda!" someone shouted, pointing to the blonde woman descending in the bubble.
"It's good to see me, isn't it?" Glinda smiled. "No need to respond. That was rhetorical. Fellow Ozians…" "No One Mourns the Wicked" came and went.
"Let's hope this goes well," Nia whispered to Happy and TheWickedrae, who were backstage with her.
"It will," Happy reassured her.
"Dear old Shiz!" everyone sang after Elphaba ran through the clock face.
"What? What are you all starring at? Oh, do I have something in my teeth? Fine, we might as well get this over with. No, I am not seasick. Yes, I've always been green. No, I didn't eat grass as a child!" Elphaba ranted.
"Elphaba!" Frex shouted, pushing Nessa onto the stage.
"And this is my younger sister, Nessarose. As you can see, she's a perfectly normal color," Elphaba said, gesturing to her sister.
"Elphaba, stop making a spectacle of yourself," Frex spat.
The rest of the act came and went. Nia, Happy and TheWickedrae were doing the "Elphie Dance" during "Dancing Through Life". They were laughing their heads off backstage at Glinda's "Popular." "I'm Not that Girl" had them in tears. "One Short Day".
"AHHHHHH!" Elphaba riffed, ending "Defying Gravity" and the first act.
"WHOOOOOOOOOO!" the teenagers cheered, clapping and whistling.
Elphaba came out of the machine and headed straight for her dressing room to have her make-up intensified.
"At least we don't have to do the green make-up," Happy said as she got the necessary make-up out.
"True that," woodland59 agreed, coming up from the orchestra pit and joining everyone else in Elphaba's dressing room.
Ten minutes later, woodland59 left to go back to the orchestra pit. The girls finished with Elphaba and helped her into the Act II dress.
"It's so beautiful," Nia sighed, zipping up the back of the dress.
"Thanks," Elphaba smiled as Happy helped her with her scarf and she ran back onstage.
The first part of Act II went by quickly. Finally, "No Good Deed" came and Nia was lip-synching with Elphaba's singing. The rest of the show past quickly. "For Good" had all the girls, woodland59 included from the orchestra pit, in tears.
"I have been changed… for good," Elphaba and Glinda sang, the song ending with their hug.
The show finally ended, after two long hours and forty-five minutes. The audience rose to their feet during the curtain call. Nia, Happy and TheWickedrae all peaked out into the sea of darkness that was the audience. They were able to make out most of them rising to their feet as they clapped for the characters. Finally, the Wizard bowed and then, the moment everyone was waiting for came. The clock face opened and Elphaba and Glinda ran out and bowed. The girls were jumping up and down as they clapped for everyone. The curtain closed and they ran onstage.
"Oh my Oz, you guys! You were amazing!" Nia exclaimed as she ran to give Elphaba a hug.
"Thank you," Elphaba smiled, hugging the teenager back.
"Well, what are we all just standing around here for?" Happy asked. "We have an after party to get to."
The characters headed back to their dressing rooms to change back into their regular clothes and go out. They met the girls in the dining area, which was decorated from wall to wall with pink and green everything.
"It's so…" Elphaba breathed.
"PINK!" Glinda exclaimed.
"Well… pink does go good with green," woodland59 smiled, eating a chocolate cupcake.
After giving interviews and singing playbills and taking photos, everyone was ready to go home.
"Thank you all for doing this. It means so much to me," Nia smiled. "Especially you guys," she added, turning to address Happy, TheWickedrae and woodland59.
"You're welcome, Nia," Happy smiled.
"Anything for a fellow fangirl," woodland59 said.
"Anytime," TheWickedrae giggled.
"And now, I'm sure you're all tired, so you don't have to go home, you just can't stay here," Nia said shooing everyone out.
"Goodbye!" everyone smiled, leaving the party.
"You don't have to go home, you just can't stay here," is something one of the nuns at my school says after our drama shows. She helps with the tech, so she comes to our shows and makes sure everyone leaves on time so they can clean up our theatre. I just needed to say that I don't own that line. This is the end of our story. I hope you enjoyed it and please feel free to check out some of my other stories!
Hugs,
Nia
