…...
«I'm home!» Regina called through the entrance of her mansion.
There was no reply, however, dim light flooded from the kitchen along with a smell of garlic. As Regina turned the corner around the kitchen, Emma stood facing her with a glass of red wine in her hand, «Hey babe.» she said with no care in the world and handed her wife the glass.
Regina happily accepted it and leaned in to plant a kiss on Emma's lips. She lingered for a few moments, tasting whatever Emma was cooking on her pink lips. «I'm sensing dinner is going to be good.» Regina smiled and ran her tongue over her upper lip.
…...
Barely 24 hours had passed since Ms. Mills and Agent Swan had returned to the chaotic surroundings of Storybrooke. Emma awoke to an empty bed, panic hit her like a tidal wave, fearing Regina had left- 'because no one in Storybrooke was ever going to forgive her'. No way. Emma rose out of bed, grabbed a robe and walked into her tiny kitchen. She sighed as she saw Regina pacing back and forth.
«Regina, you ok?» Emma asked carefully as she approached her.
Regina kept pacing for a few moments and stopped, «I'm just worried about all this.» she paused, «I am not sure we should continue dating Emma.» Regina finally stopped her pacing and looked at Emma.
Sighing, Emma took a step closer to Regina and took her hands, «Listen to me, if we want to date, we will be together. If you want to be with me, then we are going to continue this, regardless of whatever shit is going on in this town.» Emma said and leaned in and kissed Regina swiftly on the lips, «But if you truly don't want to, I understand.» She finished and looked down.
Regina placed a soft finger underneath Emma's chin and forced her to meet her eyes, «Believe me, I want this, I want us.»
Emma smiled at that, «Good.» she stated.
They had breakfast as if everything was normal, laughing and smiling. Enjoying a relaxing and calm morning. After doing the dishes and cleaning up, they settled on the couch, Regina resting her head in the crook of Emma's neck. She sighed, «I hate to have to ruin our very comfortable moment, but you have to deal with your parents.» she said.
«Urh.. So weird saying that; 'my parents'.» Emma paused, «but yeah, you're right.. Maybe I should go by myself.»
Getting ready to leave, Emma took a few moments to look at her reflection in a mirror. She was wearing her usual work outfit; a dark marine blue pants suit with a white shirt. Regina came from behind her and placed a comforting hand on her lower back.
«It's just so incredibly strange. I mean, my whole life is about to be turned upside-down and inside-out.» Emma said with some frustration in her voice, «I'm an FBI agent, and I have no idea how to deal with this, how to even start.»
Regina smiled softly and kissed her cheek, «Just go with your instincts, you'll be fine dear.»
Emma turned around and was not standing in Regina's arms, «Thanks. You just stay here, lock the door when I leave, and don't open it unless it's me.»
Regina chuckled, «There she is, my very own FBI agent.» She said and kissed Emma.
«Promise me though?» Emma wanted reassurance.
«I promise dear.» Regina answered.
«Good, see you later.» Emma said and kissed her once before leaving.
…..
Emma drove to Mary Margaret's apartment, and got out. Nervously, she got out of her SUV and ascended the stairs. She was just about to knock the door as it flung open, «Emma!» Mary Margaret exclaimed. David came running from the second floor and smiled when he saw her.
«Hi.» Emma said and walked inside.
About five minutes later, they were all seated around the dining table, sipping cups of tea.
«Before you start, I already have an idea of what happened.» Emma started.
David looked puzzled, «You mean you know why we're all here, in Storybrooke?»
Emma nodded.
Before she could continue however, Mary Margaret shot in, «So you know the reason why we are here? And you know Regina is responsible?»
Again, Emma nodded, «Yes, she has explained everything. I know she is the reason we were separated.»
Mary Margaret nodded, «Good, so why are you with her again?»
Emma now shook her head, «You need to understand, things are different in this world, realm, or whatever you call it.» Emma paused, «I am now a woman, I am actually, quite pleased of the person I've become despite everything I've done and gone through.» she took another sip of her tea. «I came to Storybrooke to solve a case- which I did. But then something else happened, something I didn't expect. I met someone. I met Regina.» she smiled.
Mary Margaret swallowed hard, «So… You and Regina are friends?»
«We're more than friends actually.» Emma stated.
David who had been quiet for most of the time finally spoke, «So, you're… you and Regina? You're dating?» he asked while his face was going pale.
«Yeah. I completely understand that it's hard for you to see that.» Emma paused briefly, «But what you need to comprehend is that I know Regina, the warm, funny, intelligent, kind Regina. Probably very different from the one you knew.»
Both Mary Margaret and David fell silent. At that Emma rose, «I just needed you guys to know that.» she took another few steps towards the door. "And also this idea that you two are my parents, is one that I need to get used to. I ask that you will give me time and be patient with me. It's A LOT to take in.» As she placed her hand on the door knob, she stopped and turned around, «And could you please call off whatever murderous mob you've planned for Regina?»
…..
Momentarily, back in Emma's flat, Regina was sitting in the kitchen, staring out of the window. How ironic was it that she had fallen in love with the only person capable of breaking her curse? She chuckled at that. Regina was supposed to be filled with fury and anger, she should want to rip Emma's head off along with the rest of this wretched town. She ought to summon all of her darkest magic and destroy it all. That's what the Evil Queen would do. But now, Regina could bring herself to feel that anger, she didn't need to. Something extraordinary happened, she'd found Emma, she'd found a person to love, and the person to love her. That's all she wanted. Regina was willing to put the past behind her, but the more important question was if the rest of town was willing to do the same. She doubted it. But she was not going to give up, not as long she had Emma at her side- the Savior.
….
Mary Margaret and David were watching as Emma was getting into her car from their apartment window. «What are we going to do David?» Mary Margaret asked.
David sighed, «As crazy as it sounds, I suggest we do what Emma said, give her space, earn her trust.» he said sensibly.
Before Mary Margaret could reply, they both witnessed as Emma was suddenly surrounded with a swirl of purple smoke. They reacted instantly by running outside.
David ran towards the swirling wind attempting to pull her out, but to no avail, he was thrown backwards.
As if on cue, Regina emerged from her car, «Emma!» She called.
David and Mary Margaret started at Regina in shock, but didn't do anything.
With all her might, Regina summoned her magic and thrusted it towards the very same magic surrounding Emma. The purple smoke started rising above Emma now, until she was completely free, and the smoke vaporized. Emma fell to her knees. Regina ran towards her and fell to her knees in front of her, «Emma?» She asked softly. Emma looked up, as she met Regina's eyes, there was a golden glow left from the magic in her eyes.
«I'm ok.» she whispered, «Thank you Regina.» she said and hugged her tight.
«You saved her.» David said.
Regina looked up, «Of course I did. I would never let anything harm her.» she rose and extended her hand to Emma, who gladly accepted it.
«Thank you.» Mary Margaret managed, but meant it sincerely.
Nodding, Regina said, «Of course.»
Still holding Regina's hand, Emma squeezed it softly, «Let's go home.»
Agreeing, they left in Emma's SUV, only briefly saying their goodbye to Mary Margaret and David.
They arrived at Emma's apartment and they both fell down into the couch of exhaustion. «How did you know where to find me?» Emma asked after a while.
Regina turned to look at her, «I was wondering how it was going, so I watched you in a mirror- with magic.» she said smiling.
«Wow, I'll never get used to this.» Emma said and sat back in the couch, taking Regina's hand in her own, «Thank you for saving me.»
Leaning in, Regina smiled, «Always.» she placed a soft kiss on her lover's lips.
