Chapter 5

My heart started to beat faster than normal. What did this Eraser want? I started struggling again. I clawed at his hand, hoping he would let go. The Eraser did let go, but he threw me into the wall in doing so.

I struggled to stand. My back was starting to ache badly and I had a splitting headache. The Eraser laughed at my pain. While he wasn't looking, I kicked him hard, hearing a few ribs crack. Satisfied about that, I sent a punch right into his face. Blood went flying. The Eraser fell to the ground unconscious. After giving him one last kick in the stomach, I ran as far as I could without stopping. When I stopped to rest, my head and back started throbbing painfully. I started walking, wincing every time I took a step. Then, all of a sudden, everything went black.

"How'd this happen?"

"She was attacked by a guy with no shirt."

"Was it an Eraser?"

"I'm not sure. I just know that she beat the heck out of him."

"Serves her right for leaving us…"

"Gazzy!"

"What?"

"It's not her fault she ran away! She probably wasn't sure if she could trust us or not!"

"Uh, Max?"

"What?"

"I think she's waking up."

I tried to open my eyes but my eyelids felt glued shut. Slowly, my eyelids opened. I winced at the light. My eyes soon got used to the light and I tried to sit up. My throbbing back gave me trouble but I eventually sat up. I looked around slowly through squinted eyes for the light was bothering my aching head.

From what I could tell, I was in a tree. I was on a branch not too high up. I jumped down from the tree, but as I landed, a shooting pain went up my back to my head. I fell straight to the ground and blacked out again.

"Did you get the medicine?"

"Yeah. I got it."

"Good. Let's just hope this helps her to get better."

"Thanks, Nudge. Now, hold her…"

The voices faded out all at once. I felt no pain as something was jabbed into my arm. Slowly, the pain in my head and back started to fade away. It soon became a dull ache. Then, my consciousness began to fade away even though my eyes were closed. It faded, faded, faded, faded, until it was completely gone.

"Hey. Wake up." A voice said, followed by a nudge to my shoulder.

"5 more minutes…" I mumbled, the memory of what had happened before completely gone from my mind.

"I think you'd better wake up before Max comes back. She asked me to wake you. She'll have my head if you're not up."

I laughed/groaned as I sat up. After rubbing my eyes, I checked my surroundings. From what I could tell, I was in a small bedroom with sky blue walls and a cream carpeted floor. The bed I sat in was just the right size for me. It had a black wood frame and headboard, white sheets, and a well-made quilt. I looked down at my clothing. I only wore an oversized T-shirt, which wasn't mine obviously, and my undergarments. The shirt smelled like a sweet smelling cologne or perfume. I was so mesmerized with the shirt that I didn't notice the figure standing near the door until I looked up. I nearly jumped out of the bed.

The figure chuckled. "I see you're wide awake now."

"You almost gave me a heart attack!" I said, my heart pounding.

"Sorry about that." The figure apologized, walking over towards me. My eyes kept blurring, but I could tell that the figure was a guy with short black hair. I couldn't tell what the colors of his clothes were, but he wore a T-shirt and jeans.

I opened my mouth to say something when the door burst open. Standing in the doorway was a very ticked off brown haired girl. I could've sworn I'd seen her before. Then, it came to me. This girl I had seen before. The girl was Max.
