She stared at Keith, blue eyes meeting green before she left out a soft sigh. "Of course it isn't. Nothing is ever told in full".
"You can't" a stangeled scream escaped her brother as he stumbled to her side, gripping her arms tightly "I told you we should have left" his eyes looked crazed, something the Force rarely ever saw.
"Pidge were only trying to help" Allura said reassuringly, reaching for her fellow pilot only for her hand to be knocked to the side.
"We don't need your help!"
Everyone took a step back, none of the things their little technician was doing today, was anything he would do as a norm.
Suddenly his eyes rolled to the back of his head as he fell forward into the princess arms. Piper retraced her hand, shaking her head a little at her brother's prone body. "Perhaps we should go to the Lions. They would be much better narrators of this whole mess"
The Hunter smirked to himself as he sat back in the little hotel room he had rented. The half blood did not realize his mistake by joining the Force. It would only hasten the plans he had made.
The hanger was just as they had left it, nothing amiss. Piper led the way with the rest of the Force followed behind, Hunk holding Pidge across his back. As they neared the docked lions another tremble ran through the castle.
They all jumped back in surprise as the Red Lion moved on it's own, letting out a low warning growl as it peered in close. Piper remained calm, reaching out to the lion with both hands. Though bigger then the female, the mechanical beast rested it's head gently in her hands, the growl turning into a pleased purr.
"What in the-" Lance was too shocked to form words, the Force in complete understanding.
"They cannot speak to you all at once in this form, so let us go to a place where they can" the girl smiled at them before pulling out the knife from before. This time the Force didn't tense, some already antcipating what she would do. As if knowing what they were thinking, she smiled softly to herself before swiping the blade across her wrist.
As blood began to dribble from the wound, their vision began to warp. Everything becoming blurry.
When they came to, they found themselves in an open field. Rolling plains of grass surrounded them as far as they could see with a clear blue sky above them.
A gentle breeze blew their hair back as they took a look at their surroundings.
"Where are we?" Hunk asked the Force feeling as lost as his words.
A voice from above answered before anyone else could "your in the dreamstate. This is one of my world's I created in this state so you may speak to the Lion Spirits" Piper could been seen floating down to them.
If that wasn't surprising enough, they watched in shock as the lions flew in uniform formation behind her. They were smaller, a little larger than the average lion but not their normally titanic size.
"One of your worlds?" Larmina asked, curiously looking around again.
Perhaps we should be the ones to tell you the origin story of the Spirit of the Lions?
The Force jumped at the deep yet feminine sounding voice that rung out. For a second they all stood still, then their heads whipped to where the blue lion was sitting.
Yes it is I who am speaking
The big cat's lips pulled back as if to mimic a smile. The origin of the great Spirit. One could say that she is the mother spirit of us. That is partly true.
The Spirit was a spiritual being created at the same time as Voltron. Formed from the same basic foundations. This time it came from the yellow lion. The scar on it's face glinting in the sun.
She is the emotional, the human side of Voltron. The blue lion continued Her first breath breathed life into us, giving us our own unique personalities and abilities.
However where there is light there is also darkness. A powerful spirit rose from the opposite traits Voltron's foundations possess, creating a dark spirit to challenge her. A great battle took place between the two spirits in another dreamstate dimension just like this one. It was a fight for the power to pass between both realms. The red lion spoke up now, slinking over to wrap his tail around the female's legs.
She won, obviously, and sealed the other spirit in the same plane they fought.
But by winning she also gained more responsibilities. In a small reclusive village somewhere in the far reaches of the galaxy, some of the people could See things related to this world. Interested she went to them and soon became worshiped as a god. It was here she was given the title Spirit of the Lions while her foe was named the Hunter after his brutal ways. The black lions voice sounded a tinge proud, a deep rumble of approval from the rest only proved this point further.
"Then you have been living for hundreds of years?" Hunk furrowed his brows in confusion as the girl only chuckled softly.
Her real name is Silvania. She took up the role of Piper after Pidge was born. The Blue Lion supplied quietly, glancing at the Green Lion who had remained silent thus far. Some dare say the Lion looked agitated.
"Pidge may hate you for it, but at least it will save his life" Silvania offered, leaning into the Red Lion's side for comfort while his green counterpart let out a sigh.
Pidge is Baltonian but was possessed by a Seer spirit. People possessed by one were powerful and could travel between the two realms in their sleep. Pidge's grandfather was from the village but had left on an expedition to see if people from the outside could posses the Seer spirit. At the time his bloodline had shown some of the most powerful spirits but he had no heir and did not wish to marry the power hungry people of the village.
He traveled across the galaxy for many years and found love on Balto. Pidge's father was born but the spirit was not passed on to him. Word got back to the village on his grandfather's failure and they demanded he return. It was around this time was the Hunter's bonds began to weaken so Silvania had disappeared. They blamed these undoings on him and demanded he be sacrificed to appease the strain.
Pidge's grandfather, as I said before, possess a powerful spirit and he was one of the few who had been able to talk to Silvania in his dreams. Usually she imitates projections as words but she met this man in person.
Everyone turned to the female now who merely shrugged "it was on a whim".
The Green Lion let out a rumble before continuing on. He knew there was something he had to do so he stayed on Balto til Pidge and his twin brother Chip were born. Obviously Chip was not passed the spirit but Pidge was, showing signs of it right from his birth.
"I will take it from here" Silvania interjected, pulling away from the Red Lion despite his protest "Pidge's grandfather was elated as you would expect and this was the first time someone outside of the village had been able to possess the spirit. He feels different from previous Seers and it was enough to pull me out of the dreamstate and to Balto.
"We all knew that he could not stay on Balto, he needed to grow up in the village at some point. He managed for a few years but his departure came too soon. Returning to the village was rough, everyone was still upset but once they saw Pidge it went away. Back then he was quiet and shy, refusing to go near any of these strangers after being separated from his family for they were not permitted to enter.
"The village accepted him and a family who had lost their own child during birth took on the duty of raising him. To appease his homesickness I transformed into a young girl and acted as his sister so he wasn't alone".
The Force looked quite shell shocked to say the least. To know that Pidge was actually possessed by a powerful spirit and had spent such a rough childhood at that was saddening. It also made them think of the trust they had with each other, why hadn't he told them?
"He was afraid" Silvania spoke up to the silent question, giving them an apologetic look "he has a hard time maintaining control over the spirit since he is not from a pure bloodline, which is also why I became his sister so I could help regulate it".
"So what can we do to help? Why only bring this up now?" Keith arms were crossed and while he looked mad he was more confused on the inside. If anything, overly concerned.
Silvania was silent for a moment, speaking slowly as she chose her words "the Hunter has finished the creation of his shrine".
"A shrine?" Daniel glanced at Larmina who looked just as confused as he was.
"Yes one to himself. The man that you heard over that video message was not the actual Hunter I locked away in a dreamstate. That is merely a vessel for him to move in this world which means his bindings are beginning to weaken. In order for him to be fully released, the vessel must sacrifice someone with a strong spirit. For example, someone possessing a Seer spirit".
The realization hit them all at once, the Force turning to look at their still unconscious pilot.
"How can we prevent this?" Keith knew he spoke for the whole group as he turned to look at Silvania.
She tilted her head at him and they couldn't help but shudder at the piercing stare she pinned on them. It was as if she knew they were going to offer their help immediately.
As she opened her mouth to speak a booming laugh echoed across the field, one that shook the ground beneath them. The lions tensed as the Force staggered a little with the shifting ground. When the laughing subsided, Silvania's face was a hard mask.
You can't prevent it. The boy's blood will be spilled.
