Me: "okay time to do homework"

seven months...

"who said that?"

Seven months without an update...

"But, I have stuff I need to get done and college stuff to start to organize and-"

SEVEN MONTHS.

"...okay."

Y'all can thank my insane conscious for the update. She makes me do things. Many things. She's my alter ego. She's the one with borderline personality disorder, not me.

...Anyways, my crazy aside, sorry for the long-ass wait, but here's the next installment of BNY!

Enjoy :)

The next few hours were somewhat tranquil for Bo, compared to the last few days. She finally convinced Kenzi to come back to their place and visit her for a bit, so they could have some quality bestie-time. The two women sat on the couch just talking, and although Kenzi was clearly uneasy about having another witness to her ramblings, she soon eased into some comfort seeing Chance snuggled cutely in Bo's lap sleeping.

It was around 8pm when Tamsin finally showed her grumpy self again, pulling up to the Dal in her beat-up truck, wearing the usual leather jacket and dark-washed jeans. Resting on the middle console was Bo's shirt, folded neatly and freshly laundered. As soon as she had gotten back to her apartment she washed it, and even though it had been through one hell of a beating that morning, the Valkyrie could still smell the succubus' distinct scent on it. It made her heart do little jumping jacks and squeeze in apprehension at the same time.

Sauntering into the bar, she spotted Bo at the counter balancing Chance in her lap. "Waiting for someone?" She said smoothly, gliding into the open seat to her right. Trick brought her the usual, sliding the glass over before tending to his other patrons.

"Not exactly. You know Tamsin, I was thinking-"

"Oh god, you? Think? With your brain or your boobs?" Tamsin teased, earning herself a glare, but her shit-eating grin made the succubus smile a little in return.

"-he kinda has your hair," Bo finished with a giggle, rubbing her hand over Chance's tiny wisps of blonde hair.

Tamsin smirked and bumped her shoulder into Bo's. "I'd be careful if I were you succubabe. I WOULD say I would slap that smile clean off of you, but that would mean running the risk of messing up your face-" and before the valkyrie could stop herself, she added, "-and then what would I be left with to stare at when I'm bored?"

"You like staring at my face?" Bo rebounded quickly, noticing the slip up and catching the blonde off her game. Little butterflies erupted in the brunette's stomach when she realized Tamsin thought she was worth staring at. And heaven only knew how many times a day the valkyrie would claim she was 'bored' while around Bo.

"Er-well-no I just-Okay now you better wipe that grin off your face and quit putting words in my mouth," Tamsin growled, turning back to her drink with a blush creeping up her neck.

Kenzi had been eavesdropping on the two fae for quite some time now, and decided to choose that exact moment to trapeze into their conversation and further embarrass the detective with a: "Because we all know you'd rather put something else of hers in your mouth TamTam," and skipped away before Tamsin could say, or attack with, anything.

By that point the blush that had slowly been traveling up the blondes neck had tinged her entire face a light pink. "Tamsin you look a little flushed," the succubus beside her smirked, "I think it's time for you to head home."

"First off, I have not had NEARLY enough to drink, secondly it's hot in here, and third, I think it's time for you and the squirt to head back, not me," the blonde recovered quickly, her face returning to it's natural color. "Now, lets go before I leave you here to fend for yourself. God knows how long a succubus like you would last in a bar like this..."

"And what is that supposed to mean?" Trick replied indignantly, suddenly appearing from behind the bar counter, wiping his towel over the surface with a huff.

Tamsin chuckled, "Nothing you need to worry about Blood King." A small noise suddenly wavered up to the three fae's ears, and they all looked into Bo's lap to see Chance utter an adorably huge yawn and lay his tiny head back against the brunette's chest.

"Annnd thats my cue to get the baby faes home," the blonde sighed, turning around in her stool to leave. "You ready Bo?...Bo? Helloo, succulette, you in there?"

The succubus was in her own little world, staring adoringly at the miracle in her lap. "Hmm?" She murmured, finally looking up into Tamsin's eyes with a glossy, faraway look. A look passed between them, and the detective soon felt the world around her fall away as she gazed into Bo's warm brown eyes.

"Ahem," Trick coughed, breaking whatever was happening between his granddaughter and the blonde woman. He was now three times as confused as he had been when the conversation started. "Tamsin, are you staying the night too? To take care of her-" the man stuttered awkwardly. "-Well, not in the biblical sense, I would really like to refrain from knowing-the endeavors-she's as active as the next succubus, I know-well I don't know but-"

"Trick!" Bo said loudly, interrupting Trick's hopeless rambling. "Yes, Tamsin will be take Chance and I home, it's okay. See you tomorrow." With that, the succubus abruptly grabbed the blonde's arm and Chance's things and proceeded to high tail it out of there.

"But that doesn't answer my question-" He called after the fleeing women, waving his towel after them.

"Bye Trick!" Bo shouted behind her before the man lost sight of them in the crowd.

"Wanna tell me why you just made it sound like we're gonna bang each other in the presence of a child to Trick?" Tamsin said, shrugging her forearm out of the brunette's grasp. The light touch left goosebumps on her skin and it wouldn't take long for Bo to notice if she kept up her grip.

"I'm exhausted," the succubus said simply, dodging the question. She hiked the baby higher up on her hip, shifting her weight to the other foot. As she brought her eyes up to the Valkyrie's face, she saw the disbelieving look she wore and gave in immediately. "Fine, I was afraid if I said you wouldn't stay, it would come true." Bo trailed off at the end, looking anywhere but at the detective.

"I'm sorry, what was that?" Tamsin smirked, even thought she had heard quite clearly what the younger fae has said.

"Cut the shit and just take us home! He needs to be changed and fed, you're ruining his normal routine," Bo snapped impatiently.

"Ouch, someone needs her late night snack. And if I couldn't help but be observant, it seems like you've become quite attached to the little brat," Tamsin said evenly.

"Oh don't tell me you haven't either TamTam," Bo said mockingly, "I see the way you look at him. I'm not blind."

"Truth? I don't want him to die or anything, alright? He's grown on me, yes. Happy now?" Tamsin said quietly, the fire gone completely from her voice.

Bo was speechless. She didn't expect that at all. She unconsciously inched forward and placed her free hand on the side of the blonde's cheek, savoring the feeling of the soft skin beneath her fingers. All too soon the older fae pulled away with a slow exhale of breath and a shake of her head, turning to face the exit. Placing a hand on the small of Bo's back, she guided the three of them to the door of the Dal without another word.

The temperature had drastically decreased from what it had been that afternoon, and when the blonde opened the door for Bo and the baby, she had to almost immediately shut it again, for the chill was almost too much to bear.

"Tamsin he's going to freeze!" Bo cried, grabbing the boy a little tighter in her arms, making him squirm a bit.

"I know, but there's not exactly anything to wrap him in at the moment, so I suggest we just make a run for it," the detective drawled.

"But we can't! You really want to deal with him crying the whole home because you shook him all the way to the car?"

Tamsin sighed and rubbed her eyelids with her fingers, pondering her options. In one hand, she could run the risk of the child getting frostbite by walking outside normally, or she could jostle him around and get him to the truck quicker while upping the chances of him screaming in an enclosed space with her in it.

"I got it," the blonde said suddenly, shrugging off her jacket, "Here, wrap him in this."

"But then you're going to freeze," Bo said, crinkling her eyebrows, not yet taking the article. Tamsin felt her stomach flutter with butterflies at the succubus' concern for her, but swallowed down the smile threatening to break onto her face.

"Trust me succubabe," the blonde said with an eye-roll, "It'll take a little more than just some windchill to take down this valkyrie. Go ahead, I'll be fine."

The brunette eyed Tamsin cautiously before taking the jacket and bundling up Chance within the folds. The worn leather made him look small and fragile, and both women took a moment to appreciate just how lucky he was when he was found that winter day.

"Ready?" Tamsin asked, positioning her hands on the door, preparing herself to open it and unleash the cold, "One, two, three!"

On three, the detective shoved open the latch, and the three raced out into the night. The December air was even chillier than both fae had originally anticipated, unfortunately for Tamsin. The wind was one that stole the breath right out of the lungs and caused goosebumps to erupt quickly over the skin.

The blonde gritted her teeth against the bitter cold whipping at her bare skin, pushing ahead into the night air to lead Bo and Chance. When they reached the truck, the blonde threw open the passenger side door first for Bo and practically sprinted back to the driver's side, flinging herself into her own seat. Both women panted unevenly while the heat kicked on in the cab, turning their heads at the same time and sharing a small smile.

Tamsin's black truck rolled to a stop outside the clubhouse a few minutes later. Readying themselves once again, the fae popped open the car doors open simultaneously, the detective carrying the diaper bag and Bo's shirt, while the brunette carried the little boy in her arms

The Valkyrie reached the door first and with a swift kick, knocked the offending wood wide open.

Both woman let out big sighs as the warmth from the shack enveloped them both. Bo set the drowsy Chance in his playpen as the blonde dropped the bag next to the couch and left the shirt draped over the back of a random chair. They turned to face one another before Tamsin plopped onto the couch, resting her head on the back of the sofa while the succubus moved to stand in front of her.

"Thanks for breaking my door more than it already is," Bo said curtly, pursing her lips and crossing her arms. "I had the key ready since we left the Dal."

"Would've taken too long anyway," Tamsin said through clenched teeth. She curled her legs under herself and hugged her arms against her body.

"You okay?" Bo questioned, and lowered herself to sit by the older fae. Placing a hand onto Tamsin's upper arm, she was surprised to find the skin there covered in goosebumps and frigid to the touch. "Tamsin you're freezing!" the succubus exclaimed, moving closer to the blonde.

"I'm fine, just a little cold. I'll stay here and warm up a bit and keep an eye on Chance, you go sleep. I'll bring him upstairs before I leave," the detective tried to brush Bo off, but the brunette just deflected her hand and caught it in her own.

"No."

"No?" Tamsin raised her eyebrows, "And what are you planning on doing?"

"I can warm you up," Bo said simply, pushing the Valkyrie gently so she was resting against the cushions with her head at one head resting against a pillow. Te succubus climbed in between her legs and nestled against the blonde's chest with her head resting in the crook of Tamsin's neck. Throwing a blanket over them both, Bo closed her eyes.

"Uh, what are you doing?" the Valkyrie said tersely, her body tensing under the intimacy of the situation.

"Thawing you out," the younger fae yawned, burrowing closer to Tamsin's cool skin. While the brunette dozed off quickly, the detective slowly relaxed her muscles, easing into warm comfort. She wasn't tired yet, so she laid awake for hours, listening to the soft gurgling of the baby and steady breathing of woman above her.

Happiness filled her heart at the sounds of her makeshift family, not that she would ever admit thats what she called it to Bo. Their relationship, or lack thereof, was anything but perfect. Hell, she had no idea where they stood, they kissed and cuddled, but if she was honest with herself, she wasn't ready just yet to commit fully or go any farther. If she did, she knew there was no turning back from the feelings that swallowed her whole every day, the ones that scared her shitless. But that competitive, rebel Valkyrie that lived inside her always countered with the what-ifs: What IF she surrendered to her emotions?

Could the cold-hearted valkyrie finally find peace, and even love?

A/N #2- if you would like to see anything in particular in this fic, drop a review, PM me, or prompt me on my tumblr: tamtammccorrigan. Seriously, the reason this fic is so sparse on updates is my lack of inspiration for months on end. I get little ideas now and then, but I mean I don't really have real life experiences to help with the process to come up with stories on my own.

More prompts/ides=Shorter amount of time between chapters

A/N #3- is there a major plot for this story you ask? A bigger picture? Not really. I might add little drama bubbles here and there to keep it interesting, but the overall plot line is the progression of valkubus. And that ever present mystery of where the heck Chance came from, if I ever get over writing only fluff lol.
