Max POV
We were seated around a large circular table; Thor had left to 'go back to his realm to oversee his kingdom'. Apparently, he and a former mortal that he was in love with (Nudge explained this to me on the way to the conference room) named Jane was the new Queen of Asgard. The Flock, though a little awkward around each other at first, soon clicked back intoplace. Well, mostly. Fang and I still had tension between us-tension that would have dissipated if we had been together as friends. I think we broke each other's heart. I sighed when Director Fury started talking. Man, he talked even more than Nudge when she was younger-and that is saying something. But sitting and talking wasn't going to help Angel, especially if Angel had gotten a fake call from the School that the rest of us, excluding Nudge, had been captured. It reminded me of when Angel had been taken by Ari when we were younger. Except, you know, Nudge didn't have an ultra-secret government backing her when she was younger and that ultra-secret government didn't have a god, a super soldier, a tin man, a scientist with rage issues and turned into the Hulk when he was angry, an expert marksman and a super spy. You know, the usual things that government agencies have.
I yawned loudly, trying to stay awake. I chanced a glance at Fang. He was steadily staring at me, and it took us both a moment to realize that we were staring at each other. I wrenched my gaze away from him first. I looked at Fury and asked, in an extremely bored tone, "Is there going to be a quiz? If not, I'd like to skip the talking part and get to the actual saving part of Operation: Save Angel Before Evil Psychos Experiment and then Kill Her."
Fury glared at her. "What do you suppose we do?" he demanded.
I smirked lazily at him. "How about let us and whoever on your team that can fly help?" I questioned. T
he sole member that was there that could fly was Tony. He nodded, determined. "I can help," he said grimly. I smirked again. "Alright, good! Now, let's go find the School!" I cheered.
Fang said, "It's in Death Valley, California. Not a good place to go, especially if you aren't evil or psychotic."
"Fang," I said in a harsh tone, "I suppose that means that you don't want Angel back?"
Fang glared at me. "Or maybe I don't want to be part of the Flock anymore," he snapped.
"Why? Is it because of my purpose?" I growled back. I glared at Fang and Fang glared back.
"Guys this isn't going to help get Angel back so stop fighting," Nudge ordered angrily. We slowly sat down.

When we got above Death Valley, I was glad that the helicarrier had reflective panels to reflect the sky. When it was time, the Flock jumped off the helicarrier and opened our wings, soaring in the sky. We felt...so...free.
_ Angel, Third POV
Pain and needles. She felt pain that was given to her in a liquid state from the needles. She didn't cry, not because of the pain. Angel knew enough of the thoughts around her that Max and the others weren't here. She'd been tricked. Oh, well. Nothing could be done now. She felt a couple tears leak out from her eyes. Hurry, Max. Help me!
