OK, well I am so so so so so so so so so sorry that it took so long. I deprived you from your Jim-Ellie meeting for a very long time, and I apologize. Life has thrown me a coupla curveballs and it's been hard (surgery in october...)

I really hope you guys like this chapter, I was a little nervous about it.

Disclaimer: I don't own these guys. I know, I know.

The season premier is in 13 days! I'm shaking with excitement!!

Pam walked into the office, smiling and taking a seat on the couch, letting Elle sit up in her lap and take in her surroundings. The glimmer in her green eyes was bright today.

She was hearing voices in seconds.

"Ohmigod, she is so cute. Who is she? How old is she? Is Roy the father? Oh, God, he is! And you guys are like trading her off like every other weekend! Ohmigod, I knew it!" Kelly is smiling and clapping and Pam can't even respond.

"She's adorable. But who is the father?" Phyllis is smiling at Elle now, sticking out her finger and laughing as Elle reaches for it.

"Whether it's divorce or pre-marital sex, I don't approve." Angela peeps her head over the little partition, before meeting eyes with Dwight again and rolling them. He nods and she turns away.

"PAM! Pam Pam Pam-a-roo! Who is the little tyke? Daughter? Niece? Who?" Michael is absolutely frantic now, reaching for Elle. Pam turned just in time to hand her to Toby. "Pam! You don't know you are trusting your child with. Honestly, it's not a matter of whether he seems like a nice guy, for god sakes he's a convicted rapist!" Pam gives him a dangerous look before angling her head slightly. Her eyes travel to Jim.

He's staring into space, eyes wide and a deep stare burning a hole in the carpet. Kevin and Oscar were coming over just when everything was interrupted by a flash of light.

Creed smiled at the looks of shock when they saw him with his Polaroid. Everyone blinked rapidly form the surprise of the flash, before smirking at the way he turned the wheel, holding the camera and flashing another picture, this time of himself.

"Niiiiice. Who's the dad?" Kevin is staring at her chest, giving that clueless look when she crosses her arms. She hears him mutter "mom boobs" to Oscar.

"Stop it." Oscar, smiles at Pam, congratulating her on the baby. Pam let her eyes find Stanley, who sat on his desk and took no notice of anything going on.

"So. Who knocked you up? Were you super drunk?" Meredith appeared in front of her, smiling and making Pam look at the floor in embarrassment. Technically, she was knocked up.

"Her name is Elle." Her tiny voice finally found iself, just in time for the next round of questions, which she wasn't ready for.

"Ahh! that is such a cute name. It's like a celebrity name. You don't hear it every day, but it's still awesome and like not anyone can pull it off." Kelly glanced nervously to Elle, as if wondering if Elle could "pull it off".

"Yeah. and-"

"What's her middle name?" Phyllis was looking in with interest.

"Christine. Elle Christine." It wasn't hard to find the brown hair, flipping when his head shot up. He recognized the name.

"Um, guys, I'm going to warm her up a bottle. In the break room. Could we have some privacy?" Pam was taking Ellie, smiling and ignoring Kevin's comment.

"I bet she's gonna breast feed her."

Of course, this caught the attention of Michael.

"Oh yeah, Pam! You should let us watch! Ya know, for some of us who will be parents someday!" He is smiling eagerly, while Pam shakes her head.

"Michael, I'm not breast feeding her in front of all you guys." She was walking now, letting her eyes meet Jim's for a second. No, a nanosecond. Not even. It was a short enough period of time for him to wonder if she had actually made eye contact, but it was long enough for him to follow her into the break room.

The microwave in the break room whirred softly while Elle began to yell, fussy over the fact that she had refused to eat breakfast this morning.

Pam could hear his footsteps-making the carpet groan and Pam's heart plummet and pound.

"So, you recognize her?" It's her voice, not looking at him, and he won't answer. He's silent, it infuriates her.

When she whirls around to look him in the eye, she wants to cry. He looks so sad, like he just isn't sure where he stands anymore.

"No. Not right away. I saw you with a kid and looked in another direction. It was the name." It's so sad, how his voice doesn't waver but she can tell that it isn't strong. It's weak, depressed. She can't talk. She can explain.

"Yeah. You picked it. and the middle name is from-"

"I know, I know. Your grandma and my sister. Of course, I should have known, Bees." It isn't joking, but it's trying. She feels the guilt, starting in her aching toes and gathering behind her kneecaps, making the ache so strong that she can feel tears gathering in her eyes. Or maybe the tears are from his facial expression, or the fact that Elle is now chomping on her finger. He's using the voice, the one that's not quite a whisper yet not loud, it's a loud whisper. The camera can barely pick up on it, and suddenly Pam remembers the cameras. It's like she forgot they were even here.

"Hold?" she hands Elle to him. When her head twists back from checking the bottle in the microwave, she wants to cry all over again.

It's like all the adoration and happiness and meaning and shine was put into one last face for Jim. Like God took every emotion and carefully mixed them together, dashing in sadness and tears and beating in the love, so Jim held a face of pure something on his face. Pam couldn't place it. Now he's speaking.

"Look. Her eyes." He sees the green, standing out even more because Pam had her wear the little pink shirt with the green elephant on it.

His breath stops when Elle reaches up, taking hold of a brown lock. She giggles, tugging and her smiles are like Jim's.

"I'm sorry. Really. I am." Pam can't explain anymore how she feels, because her mind is mesmerized by Jim and Elle, the little baby giggles. Jim is smiling, teary eyed yet face lopsided. It's the most heart breaking Jim the Pam has ever seen.

"Why?" His head is up, looking at her, eyes questioning. Elle laughs and he's just looking at her, frozen, waiting for her answer.

"I don't know." She can't say anything else. Words won't come out, they never do. Communication was never their strong point, and nothing will change that. He knows, too, that she can't tell him the whole truth yet.

"I know."

"Yeah."

"Oh." It's the saddest "Oh" she's ever heard.
