Sixth Drabble: Attitude Adjustment (Inspired by chibi-no-baka bringing up Bon's tough-guy attitude and Hinata's sweet nature)

Summary: Ryuji and Hinata have something they need to share with their friends. However, their reaction is less than what they expected, forcing them to show their friends just how much of an attitude adjustment is in need.

"Does anybody know what Bon wanted to talk to us about?" Asks Konekomaru.

Rin shrugs while placing down a blue uno card in the center of the table that was occupied by Renzou, Koneko, Nemu, Naruto, Kiba, and himself.

"Dunno but he said that it was something kind of important."

"What do you think it could be?" Shiemi questions sitting at another table with the girls, playing a game of Sorry.

"Maybe it has something to do with family back in Kyoto?" Sakura offers up, moving her red piece around the board. "Who knows."

Renzou picks up four cards, giving Kiba a dirty look for making him do so after changing the color to yellow. "Let's just wait till Bon gets here. No use in guessing whatever's on his mind."

"Ha! One in Home! Take that Billboard Brow!" Ino cheers, pointing a polished finger at the pinkette.

Sakura practically growls while Izumo furrows her brows at the girls' childishness. Shiemi laughs and moves her green piece around the board as everyone waits like Shima suggested.

A few more minutes go by before they all hear the sound of the lunchroom door creak open. Glancing up from their games, the small group is partially stunned to see not only Ryuji but shy little Hinata trailing behind him. Nonetheless, the duo is greeted warmly by the others.

"Hey Bon. Looks like you found Hinata on your way here." Naruto grins, waving the two over. "Why don't you two come play Uno with us? I'm just about to win anyway so it'll only take a sec-"

"You're about to win?!" Nemu's puppet argues before shouting 'Uno!' and placing down a green card. "Nice try, loser, but looks like I'm gonna win!"

"In your dreams, Puppet Boy!" Naruto retorts back and sparks start to fly as the two aim to win the first game.

Ryuji and Hinata share a gaze with each other, one that both Sakura and Shiemi notice. Both elbow the other girls, turning their attention towards the awkward pair.

"Actually, could the game be put on hold for a sec. There's something that we have to tell you guys before any of that continues." Ryuji almost stammers, which now gains the attention of the boys because when the hell does Bon ever stutter.

The group looks between the bluenette and their taller friend, taking notice of the subtle blush staining both of their cheeks.

"We?" Shima echoes with a quirked brow.

"Yeah, we." Bon emphasizes, taking another look at the nervous girl beside him. Hinata looks up at him as well, and as if like magic, both suddenly smile and visibly relax, something that the girls noticed once more with widened eyes.

"So what is it that you guys need to tell us?" Koneko asks, seeming to catch on a little to the situation.

"We've been waiting for a while for you to tell us." Kiba adds turning to look at his blushing friends.

Everyone waits patiently as Hinata takes in a deep, deep breath before her soft voice speaks.

"W-Well we know this is out of the blue and all, but we thought it'd be best to let a few of you guys know now before the others, b-bu-but-"

Suddenly her stuttering is replaced with a loud collective gasp/squeal when Ryuji boldly takes a hold of Hinata's hand, interlacing his fingers with hers and proudly finishes for her;

"We're dating."

Hinata covers her ears as Sakura and Ino screeched happily in the highest pitch they could before running up to the couple and stealing the shy girl away from her man to grace her with hugs and kisses.

"Oh my gosh, Hinata when did… this happen?!" Ino questions, motioning dramatically towards Bon, who didn't seem too pleased with the gesture that the bleached blonde used towards him.

"T-Two weeks ago…"

Hinata is suddenly jerked by her shoulders by a wide-eyed Sakura with Ino standing behind her. "Two weeks! Why didn't you tell us sooner that you were dating Ryuji?!"

The bluenette's eyebrows sink at the way they said that, and she looks to her boyfriend who seemed to not like their phrasing either.

"Is there a problem with her dating me, Sakura?" He practically grits out, his fists balled up at his sides.

Catching his irritation loud and clear, the pinkette coughs nervously and turns towards her friend with her hands waving defensively. "N-No no no! I didn't mean it like that, Bon! I'm just surprised that you two of all people got together is all."

Bon's face hardens further at her response. "And what exactly does that mean?"

"It's because you two are like fire and ice, Bon." Rin chimes in cheerfully, making Sakura sigh in relief at having the tempered man turn away from her.

"Where Hinata's a big ball of sunshine, kindness, and calmness, you're more aggressive, loud, and have a tendency to lash out at people when pissed off." Kiba laughs, earning chuckles from Naruto and Shima as well.

"I do not lash out at people and I am not aggressive!" Ryuji counters angrily, stepping forward with his fists at his side and his teeth bared.

"Oh yeah?" Izumo snorts. "Then what exactly do you call what you're doing right now, tough guy?"

Bon growls and breathes deeply to try to calm himself so that he doesn't give them a reason to claim how right they are.

"There's nothing wrong with lashing out sometimes, Bon." Naruto tries to say but is too giggly to speak clearly. "At least it gives Hinata some entertainment when you go apeshit on everybody. She is always laughing with Shiemi when you go berserk."

Hinata looks between Ryuji and the others teasing him, feeling a bit upset with their teasing. Ryuji's face has turned red from both embarrassment and anger as he tries his hardest not to prove them right.

"I don't go 'berserk', asshole!"

"I wonder what's going to happen if you two were to ever get into a fight." Renzou voices with his thumb to his chin in thought.

The couple look, perplexed by the pink haired male's words. "What the hell are you talking about?"

"I mean, with Hinata being the sweetest possible thing and you being the embodiment of the Hulk, there's no way in hell that she'd ever be able to calm you down if you were to ever lash out at her. You'd probably end up getting your ass beat by Neji if he were to ever find out you yelled at his precious cousin."

Bon's jaw drops at Shima's statement and he looks back at Hinata to see her look just as offended as him. With that being the last straw, Bon marches up to a flailing Shima and grabs him by his collar, lifting him from his chair, much to the shock of the others in the room.

"Hinata's not some submissive weakling who can't stand up for herself, asshole! She actually has a backbone contrary to what you and everyone else seem to think! And the only one who's going to be getting their ass beat around here is you if you keep on running your mouth about my relationship with Hina-"

"Ryu-kun."

"Wha..?"

The previously loud room had suddenly gone quiet due to the scene transpiring before them. The once meek Hinata had gently called out her boyfriend's name, making him halt his speaking altogether, which was a magnificent feat all on its own for anybody that knew him. And with a few steps towards him, she places her hand on his arm, curling her fingers around him and looking into his sharp brown eyes with her own large pale set. As soon as their eyes met, the sharpness left from his face and was replaced with nothing but tenderness as he released Renzou, letting the smart mouth fall flat on his bum. Ryuji turns fully towards her then, taking her hand in his, redness coloring their cheeks once more from their open display of affection.

The couple brings their attention then towards everyone in the room once again, seeing everyone that was previously judging them with their faces gaping like fish out of water. Silence rings thick in the air for a moment more before Hinata breathing in cuts through.

"I'm honestly surprised by you all." She starts firmly, making the others gulp at the fierceness in her normally soft eyes.

"I thought you all would be super supportive of Ryu-kun and me since you are supposed to be our friends! But instead, you all tease and judge and tear down our relationship before it even truly begins! So what if Ryu-kun and I are polar opposites personality wise? So what if he can be a bit rash while I'm more quiet? Does that automatically mean we shouldn't be together because we're different?"

The others remain silent while Bon looks on with a smug, proud grin and crossed arms.

"No it doesn't! Ryu-kun and I really like each other and are willing to give us a shot, hoping for the best! We decided that we would let only a few of our friends know about our relationship after debating about two weeks after we made it official. Want to know why it took us so long to get to this point? Because Ryu-kun was right when he was worried about everyone judging us before even giving us a chance! But silly me had to give everyone the benefit of a doubt and look where we are now! I really thought we'd get more support from everyone, but I guess my optimism was-"

"It's okay, Hina. I think they get the message."

Now it was Hinata's turn to be silenced when Bon gently wraps his arms around her shoulders from behind and rest his chin on her head. The bluenette releases a tension-filled sigh and curls her fingers over his arms, embracing the hug with delight.

Once more the room is filled with slacked jaws and enlarged eyes.

"Well I'll be damned." Nemu's hand puppet finally speaks after what seemed like an eternity of silence. "You two really do make a nice couple."

Even after her bold scolding Hinata manages to flush with embarrassment from the compliment from the normally offending doll. Suddenly her hand is taken from the side by an equally blushing and tearful Shiemi.

"Huh.."

"I'm so sorry that everyone was being so mean to you and Ryuji-kun, Hinata-chan! I wish nothing but the best for you and Ryuji-kun! I hope you two stay happy as long as you're together!"

Hinata and Bon chuckle at the cutesy blonde before she and Hinata embrace each other in a hug, the bluenette thanking her for her kind words. As the two hugged, Konekomaru ran up to Bon to do the same.

"I'm so proud of you Bon! Becoming so mature and dating such a kind girl like Hinata!"

Bon places his hand atop the smaller boys shaven head with a grin. "Thanks Koneko. That means a lot."

And just like that, everyone began to apologize to the couple for their rude behavior, not realizing that they were doing more harm than good with their teasing. They each give a proper congratulatory praise before going back to playing games.

"You know, now that I've seen what you guys are like as a couple, I can officially say that I know who to call when either of you is going off the handle." Naruto jokes, now playing Cards Against Humanity with everyone.

"What do you mean?" Hinata asks innocently, placing down the card that she thinks would be the funniest for the card Izumo had read.

Naruto nudges the oblivious girl with a chuckle. "C'mon Hinata! It's obvious that you two are each other's attitude adjustment. One touch from the other and you guys are calm as can be!"

Both Hinata and Bon turn bright red at the blonde's words, but smile at each other due to how right he may be.

"Now all that's left to worry about is Neji when he finds out that the only way to calm Hinata down when she's on a rampage is through Bon touching her." Shima snickers, earning him a shove from Koneko when the group notices the sudden paleness from the couple.

"Oh Neji-nii…"

And that is all for this drabble! I know it's short, but it's the best that I could do for now since my brain has been nothing but goop for the longest. Honestly, depression is certainly not the best motivator for things that you wanna/plan to do. Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed this fluff of a chapter.
