Drabble 6: Goodbye
"I'll be okay, mama," a soon-to-be six year old stated, packing his necessities into his traveling bag. His mother fussed, pestering him with questions such as "Did you pack clean underwear?" and "You didn't forget anything did you?". Shouldering his pack, he kissed his mother on the cheek and hugged his father before rushing out.
Upon seeing the great beast, he launched himself at her muzzle, clinging to her. Xelephiza rumbled, comforting the child.
"I'll miss you, Phiza," the boy uttered. The weapon beast licked the boy's cheek with her forked tongue before grooming her 'hatchling' one last time. The youngster laughed as the rough appendage tickled him.
