Disclaimer: I do not own the Legend of Zelda nor any of the characters.

Author's Note: Really sorry about the long wait guys. I have nowhere to type this at all as all my home computers are down and I can only use school computers as a source of writing this. I swear I will finish this story and I have already started on some ideas for my Link and Medli fanfiction. Again really sorry for the long wait. So as always please rate and review! Enjoy!

Chapter 6:Betrayal

Link woke up early the next morning. Ruto was still sleeping and all seemed peaceful. Yesterday was very exciting, first he was treated like a prisoner, next thing he knew his services were needed again. At least the night ended on a good note. He put on his boots and walked outside. There were some guards still walking back and forth. Link went over to Epona and got out a piece of bread. He split it in half and went back into the tent. "Wake up princess!" Link said sitting down. She rolled over facing away from him. "Come on get up!" Link exclaimed picking her up and off the bed.

"Link come on! Just like five more minutes please?" she stated still half asleep.

"Nope we got to go get a job from the leaders. Maybe they know how Blasis can be defeated by now." Link said handing her the bread.

"Ok fine." She said a little annoyed. They finished their bread and went to the big tent. All of the leaders were there talking and looking at maps. All except for Nara as she and her spies were probably still getting that book or books.

"Glad you could join us today!" Darunia exclaimed getting up from the table.

"Have you heard from Nara?" Ruto asked sitting down.

"We expect she will be here soon," Zelda started sitting down, "right now we have another problem."

"What's the problem?" Link asked.

"More and more people are going to the infirmary. We've traced the disease back to the river. I suspect the Water Temple is tainted yet again, and we need you to go clear it out of anything that may be affecting the water." Zelda explained.

"We'll get to it then." Link said getting up and heading for the entrance.

"Who's we?" Lars asked standing in front of Link and Ruto.

"Well Ruto and I of course."

"The battlefield is no place for someone of the Zora Royal Family." Lars said.

"I promised I'd protect her and I can't do that when I'm miles away now can I?" the hero explained.

"She is quite safe here. Anyway she has no weapons or training with weapons!" Lars argued.

"I'll train her with a bow and she can have a spare dagger or sword." Link growled.

"She's not going and that's final!" Lars yelled.

"Fine then… I'll leave first thing in the morning." Link said pushing past Lars and out of the tent. Ruto walked behind him back to their quarters. "We'll leave later tonight." Link stated sitting down on his bed.

"Well then give me a bow and let's go someplace to practice." The Zora said sitting down.

"Ok one second." He said going out to Epona. He grabbed his bow and a quiver full of arrows. "Let's go then!" Link said. Ruto followed him into the brush. "Have you ever used a bow?" Link asked.

"Once or twice, when I thought I was going to need it. Guess I should've kept practicing…" she said walking next to him.

"Well that makes my job just a bit easier then." He said as they walked into a clearing. He went over to a tree and drew three circles on it like a target. "We'll work with what we got here. Now since you already know how to fire it just aim for the center circle, you'll get it down in no time!" Link explained. "How far can you pull back the string?"

Ruto pulled the string back and said, "How's this?"

Link walked up behind her and put his arm around her. "Like this." He said pulling back the string a bit more.

"Oh okay. Can I try firing?"

"Yeah sure. Let me show you how to fire it." Link took the bow loaded and an arrow. "Prop the arrow up with your finger." Link pulled the string and let the arrow fly hitting just shy of the center circle. "Your turn. Not that hard really. Just need to keep practicing and it will get easier." He said handing her the bow.

"Okay I'll try it." The Zora said as she loaded an arrow and pulled the string back. She took a breath and held it for a couple of seconds watching the target like a hawk. She let go of the string and it flew hitting the second circle.

"Hmm… Not bad, that is actually better than when I first tried it. The Zora are actually natural archers. Keep practicing and you'll get it in no time!" Link stated.

"Helps having a good teacher." She said loading another arrow.

"That's all I am? Good?" the Hyllian said.

"That's right." The Princess said watching the arrow fly and hit almost the same spot.

"Well in that case you're an okay student." Link stated.

"Careful there buddy, look who has the bow right now." She said pushing him. Link then sat on a log and continued to watch her practice. He looked at the sky; it was starting to get dark.

"We got to leave soon." He said.

"If we get caught I'm saying you kidnapped me." She said sitting down next to him.

"I'm saying you took me hostage." Link laughed.

"And who would believe you?" She asked looking at him.

"Oh just about everyone!" Link stated leaning back on his hands.

"Really? I kidnapped you? How the hell could I do…" she began before a scream filled the woods.

"What the hell?"

"Help! Someone help me!" yelled a man hobbling towards Link and Ruto. Link started running over to him, when all of a sudden the man fell over with an arrow in his back.

"Damn it!" Link cursed. He looked over and noticed the man was wearing Sheikah clothing. Link pulled out his sword and shield and watched the woods where the Shiekah came from. "Hey Ruto, go and warn the camp. Take the bow."

"But…"

"Just go! I can hold them off… For a little bit at least." he said again. She nodded, took the bow, and ran off to camp. He continued to stare in the woods when a stick snapped. The sound had Link diving behind a boulder right before a wall of arrows charged at him. Damn it! Almost got me there! The arrows just seemed to stop all of a sudden. He took a peek over the rock and saw nothing! What the hell?

"Link?" yelled a familiar voice. "Link where are you?" the voice yelled again. Link stood up and saw Lars walking towards him.

"Lars, thank the goddesses you're here. Did Ruto come and get you?" Link asked.

"Yes, but I'm afraid she won't be able to warn the others. Now be a good boy and drop your weapons." Lars ordered taking out his twin knives.

"What are you talking about? Where is she?" Link asked tightening his grip on his sword.

"Drop your weapons and she won't get hurt." The Sheikah repeated walking closer.

"Are you threatening me?" Link yelled pulling up his shield. The Hyllian looked down to stretch his neck and when he looked back up Lars was gone! "Lars, I don't want to fight you!" Link yelled into the trees.

"Well that makes one of us!" he yelled jumping at him from the trees. He brought his knives down onto Link's sword.

"Lars where the hell is she?"

"Oh don't worry, you'll see her soon!" Lars sneered with a grin on his face. Link slammed the side of his shield into Lars' side throwing him a couple of feet away. Link jumped trying to stab the Sheikah, but he jumped over with the sword missing him by a couple of inches.

Lars lunged towards Link at a near lightning speed. With barely enough time to react Link moved his shield blocking his attack, Link then pushed his shield up moving Lars' knives into the air and kicked him in the gut pushing him back with a grunt. Link started walking towards him saying, "There's no way you can win this!"

"Don't make me laugh!" He replied throwing a smoke bomb onto the ground. Link charged and slashed into the smoke. Damn he's gone!

Link turned around and saw that the Sheikah had jumped into the air trying to impale Link with his twin knives. Link dove out of the way and Lars had his knives stuck in a fallen tree. Link dropped his sword and shield and charged Lars while he struggled to pull his knives free.

Link body slammed Lars making him loose his grip on his knives. They tumbled down a hill and fell next to each other. The Hylian jumped up and pulled Lars off the ground and held him up against a tree. He punched Lars in the stomach and the face and yelled, "Why are you doing this?"

Lars spit out a mouthful of blood. "I have to look out for my people. I can't worry about everyone else when my people need help," He explained, "So I made a deal with a man that can rival Ganondorf's strength to protect them."

"Well looks like he didn't care about you that much," Link said putting the man down and pointing over to the corpse, "I couldn't get to him in time."

Lars' eyes widened and then it turned into a look full of rage. "This wasn't supposed to happen. The camp's being attacked Link; Ruto is one of the carts that they're using as prison carts. You better hurry before they leave." The Shiekah stated. Link started to run back to camp. "I'll make this up in time Link. I promise…" Lars yelled to him as he picked up his sword and shield. On the way to the camp Link found the bow Link gave Ruto. Please be alright.

yHHhhhhh

Link arrived back at camp to see tents fallen over, rebel and moblin bodies on the ground, and stalfos bones everywhere. The main tent was on fire and a group of rebels were trying to hold back a couple of stalfos knights. The rebels had the upper hand. One of them swung a flail and it destroyed a Stalfos' helmet smashing its skull and ending its fight.

The other stalfos swung his mace killing three rebels and sending them flying. It was about to kill the last rebel by swinging his mace on his, but Link tackled the rebel and spared him from the wrong end of the mace. Link swung his sword at the Stalfos' legs making it crumble to the ground.

Link kicked its helmet and stomped on the head of it ending its life before it re-assembled. "Thanks Link!" the rebel yelled.

"Go help anyone else. Stay safe!" the Hylian ordered. The rebel nodded and ran off towards the sounds of fighting in the eastern part of the camp. Link ran the opposite direction.

On the western side there were five carts full of prisoners who all cheered when Link rounded the corner towards them. "Where's the key?" the Hylian asked.

"A huge moblin took it and with a squad of smaller ones. They went to get more prisoners back the way you came." A female rebel yelled. Link turned and bolted back the way he came. 60 yards later he found the squad of moblins. All of them were dead. He went over to the biggest one and searched him. There's no freaking key here!

"Link!" yelled Lars from the trees while throwing down a key. "Go help them." He said before running off. Link smiled and ran back to the carts.

When he got there he unlocked all of the doors and they all piled out. "Go pick up some weapons and help the others." He told them all. He pulled a huge man with a brown beard out of the crowd and asked, "Where's Princess Ruto?"

"She was in another cart with a seven other prisoners. They left before you came. They're probably going for Hyrule Castle." He replied in a baritone voice.

"Thanks. Carry on." Link untied one of the horses from the cart, mounted it, and set out for Hyrule Field.

By the time Link rode out to the field the sun had almost set casting orange and red across the desolate field. Another 10 minutes of riding the sun had now fully set and there was no source of light. I'll never find them now.

Link scanned the horizon and saw a light smirked and galloped as fast as the horse would go. The light wasn't moving very fast and Link would surely catch up to them. They were now roughly 40 yards away and he could make out the shapes of a cart and a couple of moblins and a stalfos knight.

He got 10 feet away from them before the moblins noticed him. Link drew his bow, loaded an arrow, and fired it at one of the moblins hitting it in the throat, having a black type of blood start squirting out of the wound. He did the same to another moblin hitting it in the heart killing it as well. Link jumped off the horse and drew his sword to face two more moblins and that stalfos. The prisoners in the cart had now noticed what was going on and started cheering.

One of the moblins started charging him getting ready to slash him with a halberd. Link impaled him with his sword, before it had the chance to go for a kill shot, making the blood spill out onto his clothes. It stopped squirming with a shriek and Link pushed it off of his sword.

The other moblin was shaking and blabbering something. It dropped its spear and ran off leaving behind a key. Link walked over, picked up the key, and walked over to the door of the cart. Link inserted the key and opened the door. Link almost got tackled when everyone ran out of the cart.

Ruto waited in the cart until everyone had gone out. A grin came upon Link's face when he saw her. She tan up to him and wrapped her arms tight around him. Link did the same and they stood there for a while. She then put her lips to his and pulled away. "I should save you more often!" Link laughed.

"What the hell took so long?"

"Well I can't be around to save you all the time now can I?" he told her.

"Next time I'm sticking with you. No more splitting up."

"As you wish. Let's head back. Everyone's growing impatient."

Author's Note: Finally I have this chapter out! It only took like 4 or 5 months! Again I'm sorry. I have a lot of schoolwork now and everything's just a hassle. I still don't have a computer to write on so the only one I can use is my school library's in the morning (which won't let me upload anything) or the library's computers (which will let me upload). So I hope you guys enjoyed, write a review if you catch something funny, but as always rate and review! Thanks!
