Fifty Shades of Alternate Universe
Chapter Six
"Mmmm, that was delicious, Anastasia!" Gail smiled, wiping her mouth politely with a fabric napkin. Ana thanked her quietly, taking her dirty plate before her eyes glanced over to Christian.
"I would have to agree, Miss Steele. You're an exceptional cook." He spoke, handing Ana his plate as her hand hovered over his. Their thumbs brushed as the plate reached her, and she gasped softly at the shock she felt from his touch. She bit her lip and averted her eyes downward.
"Thank you, sir." She whispered, peering up at him through her thick lashes. His lips parted just slightly, causing her to blush intensely.
"Well, I think the answer here is obvious, Mr. Grey. It would be silly not to hire Anastasia immediately!"
Christian continued to stare at Ana, who was now making her way to the sink to clean the dishes she had dirtied. There wasn't a lot left from the Chicken Alfredo and Pasta that she had prepared. That was a good sign, right?
"Would you like me to throw out the rest? Or would you like me to—"
"We do not waste food, Anastasia. If you cooked it, you will eat it. You will find some dish containers in the cupboard to your left. Wrap the leftovers and put them away." He was suddenly cold, and it confused Ana. He was just so flirtatious a minute ago. Why had he suddenly become so mean?
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you." Ana spoke quietly, looking for the Tupperware. She flushed, but this time from embarrassment, as she poured the food the rest of the food into the small container.
"Well, Mr. Grey? Your answer?" Gail pried, standing to help Ana with the dishes. Ana peered over her shoulder to Christian, who was staring off towards the living room. She resisted to urge to tap her foot in annoyance as she waited patiently for his answer. Suddenly, his eyes were on her, and she felt her heart skip as if she were a child caught with their hand in the cookie jar.
"Taylor will help you with any personal belongings you would like to keep here during your stay. I will have a contract made immediately for you. Gail, please show Miss Steele to her room." His voice was very stern, and she could tell this was the Christian Grey that the world saw. The twenty-seven year old billionaire business tycoon that gave orders and expected them to be done correctly and with precision.
"Right away, sir. Miss Steele, if you would follow me, please?" Gail smiled sweetly to her, wiping her hands on her apron. Ana took hers off, and Gail pointed to the counter when Ana looked at her curiously. "You may set that there. I'll show you where the laundry room is in a moment. Come, we'll take a tour."
Ana nodded, following Gail as she led her out of the kitchen. She turned to look at Christian, who was eyeing her as well.
"Until we meet again, Miss Steele." His words were short, and she didn't like the feeling that he was dismissing her.
Well what did you expect, Ana? He's your boss, not your boyfriend. Get your mind out of the gutter.
Sighing, she bid him goodbye, for the time being, and followed Gail into a hallway on the lower floor. Stopping in front of the last floor on the right, Gail opened it quietly, allowing Ana to step in first.
"This, dear, will be your room. You can decorate it however you'd like to. There's a closet just beyond the vanity there, and you'll even have your own bathroom here."
Ana looks over the room, feeling a bit overjoyed as she takes in the queen sized bed covered in pretty blues and silvers. The vanity matched the bed, and the room seemed to have a Victorian theme. There was a balcony with white curtains over it, which won her over instantly. She could put her books there, like how it was at Kate's apartment.
She frowned, remembering her best friend that she moved to Seattle with. She just settled into a place, and now she was leaving? What was she going to do? She would be off on the weekends, but why should she go back to her apartment with Kate? She'd have to figure out what she was going to do. Most of her things would be coming with her here, though.
"Do you have any hobbies you enjoy?" Gail asked, noticing Ana had become increasingly quiet. "I heard you tell Mr. Grey that you enjoy reading."
"Yes, I have a large bookcase at my apartment. It's actually my friend Kates, so I'd have to get a new one to bring here…"
"Oh, that's not a problem. I can have Taylor make one for you." She smiled, motioning for her to follow as they left the room. "He made most of the furnishings in this room. It would match your bed and vanity."
Ana's eyes widened as she looked once more at the bed before leaving. "Taylor made this? It's beautiful!"
"Yes, he's quite talented. He enjoys his job with Mr. Grey, but he loves woodworking. There's quite a bit of furniture here that Taylor has made himself. Christian pays him handsomely for it, of course, but it's pretty unique to say that he has pieces that are one of a kind." Ana smiled at the look of pride from Gail as she talked of Taylor.
"Is Taylor—"
"We aren't in an official relationship, as of yet. I wish..." she stopped, shaking her head as they entered a new room. "No, I don't need to bother you with my silly problems."
"It's alright. I like talking to you. You seem like a nice person." Ana replied, following Gail into the next room. She saw the washer and drier, which were, of course, the latest and greatest technology, followed by a closet with folded clothes and shelves upon shelves of detergent, fabric softener, and various laundry items.
"Oh, Ana, I hope we can be good friends. I can't tell you how long it's been since I've had a girlfriend!" Gail laughed, throwing her arms around Ana. She stiffened for a minute in surprise, but Ana found it hard to not hug her back.
"I'm sure we'll get along just fine, Miss Jones." Said Ana, letting go of the long breath she was holding.
"Please, call me Gail."
Smiling, Gail politely showed Ana the rest of the apartment and answered every question with patience and earnestly. Ana couldn't help the ear to ear grin she had after looking at the incredible penthouse.
"I should probably take you to Mr. Grey now. He's more than likely ready with your contract." Gail gestured for to follow her once more, leading her up the large white spiral staircase and stopped in front of yet another white door. "Mr. Grey?" She spoke, knocking on the door. After he responded for her to enter, Gail took a step aside and opened the door for Ana.
Ana took a deep breath, looking to the opened door. She suddenly felt more uneasy, unsure of how Christian was going to treat her. Gail urged her quietly, taking her elbow gently and gently led her into the room.
"Miss Steele is here to see you, sir." Gail spoke for her, noticing how nervous she was.
"Very good, Miss Jones. You may leave now." He dismissed her, his eyes never leaving his MacBook. Ana stepped forward as Gail patted her back enthusiastically. Ana jumped when she heard the door shut behind her, effectively leaving her alone with only Christian.
"Well, Miss Steele. Should we begin?" His voice changed from earlier, back to the friendly tone that made her knees weak.
All her excitement left her in an instant as he stood up, a manila folder in his hands as he stopped in front of his desk, leaning against it sexily. Her face flushed as she tried not to stare at his hips, and she could only imagine what he might look like without that business suit on.
"You are correct in your assumptions, Miss Steele." His voice snapped her from her thoughts, and she looked to him curiously as he handed her the envelope.
"Excuse me?" She asked, taking the documents and biting her lip as he unbuttoned his jacket and loosened his tie. He undid the first few buttons of his shirt, revealing a small tuff of hair.
"That I look better when I'm not wearing this suit." His voice was deeper, a more seductive tone causing her to flush crimson red.
That son of a bitch… She groaned, feeling that strange clenching feeling in her stomach as her limbs turned weak. He grinned, as if knowing the effect he was having on her.
Huffing, she smiled as her inner goddess brought an idea to her mind. Two could play this.
She dropped the manila folder in front of her, pretending to be surprised as she did so. She turned around, bending slowly to pick it up, purposely lifting her end in the air so he could see. She heard his intake of breath and a small groan escape her lips, and bit her lip again. She stood back up, gradually, and turned around, looking at him over her shoulder.
"Sir, you had something you wanted to discuss with me?" She asked in a throaty whisper, turned around and placing her hand on her hip. Her face was hot and her palms were sweaty, but she'd be damned if she hadn't made something in him snap.
Clearing his throat, Christian attempted to appear unfazed, but as he took a deep breath, he appeared in front of Ana quickly, taking her hands and forcing them above her head.
"Fuck the paperwork." He took her lip in his mouth, biting it as his lips hungrily sought her own. Ana moaned into his mouth, pushing her hips against his body as he turned them so she was leaning against his desk. Bracing her hands against his desk, he lifted her legs around his waist, deepening their kiss as he almost lay against her.
Ana felt her blood boil as his hands voyaged down her sides, stopping at her hips and working their way to her behind. Grinning into their heated kiss, Ana wrapped a leg around Christians, running it up and down and stopping at his ankle. She grinned as he stopped kissing her, his grey eyes clouded in sheer lust. She licked the bottom of her lip as he backed away from her, straightening himself as he quickly left his office.
Working with Christian Grey might be more exciting than Ana had anticipated.
