Month 6 rolled around and Garcia was finally starting to feel better. Rossi wasn't on her mind as much as he used to be, which made her feel a lot better. The team had started to diminish their calls, finally understanding that she wasn't going to answer or call back. Hotch and JJ continued to call at least once a week, mostly to give her news on Henry and Jack. She started to smile again, and on the rare occasions, she started to laugh. Visiting her parents grave had helped her a lot; she was able to tell them everything she felt, especially how sorry she was about their deaths. It took a burden off her shoulders and she truly believed that her parents understood and forgave her.
She had met up with her other brothers and they were on talking terms once more. It made her happy to be with her family and not bicker all the time. They often sat around a small campfire and told stories of when they were little. Garcia enjoyed the time she spent with her brothers and many nieces and nephews.
One, sunny morning, Garcia had decided to walk along the Golden Gate bridge. It was a warm spring day and for once it wasn't as cold as it used to be. All was well until she ran into somebody she had left behind. ''Garcia, hey'' said Reid with a huge smile before giving her a hug. She hugged him back, happy to see him but scared that the team were there also.
''My Genius, how are you?'' she asked as he let go. He shrugged, ''I'm alright. The teams good too'' he said. She nodded and looked around trying to see any member of the team, ''They're in DC, I'm here with Blake'' said Reid as he answered her question. She smiled but he continued before she could ask why, ''Blake and I were on a consult, the team were finishing a case in DC''. Garcia nodded and smiled again. It was awkward for her, especially since Reid seemed to be analysing her. ''Wanna grab a coffee?'' he asked suddenly. Garcia bit her lip, not sure if she should or not but in the end decided it wouldn't be bad if she did.
They sat in a cafe not far from the Golden Gate bridge. Garcia looked down at her coffee while Reid continued to stare at her. ''Come back'' he said quietly. She looked up at him, ''It's hell without you. The new tech can't do anything right, we've starting solving cases the way Rossi used to solve them - which takes more time to do, and we miss you! We're constantly in darkness and I'm sure Hotch is in deep depression'' he said quickly but not too loud. Garcia gave him a small, apologetic smile. ''I'm sorry but I'm not fully ready to return yet'' she said in a whisper.
''Rossi's not doing too well either'' he said as she got up. ''His marriage to Strauss is going down the drain. They're trying but it's evident he misses you and it's ruining it''. Garcia blinked her eyes so that the tears threatening to fall wouldn't. ''I'm sorry for being so blunt but you have to understand that we're suffering as much as you. We don't care why you left, we just want you to come back to us and whatever made you leave, we'll help you through it. Just consider it, please'' he said and left. Garcia was left dumbstruck by the words he had said.
She returned home with a heavy heart to a quiet house and read the note that was left for her on the table.
Hey, waited for you but we had to go. Sorry we left without you - we'll bring you something back. See you tomorrow.
Mike.
Garcia sighed and shook her head. She had completely forgotten that her brother and sister-in-law were going to L.A for a shopping spree for their daughters' birthday. She didn't really mind, she wasn't feeling up to going anyways. She made herself a screwdriver, knowing that straight up vodka now made her sick. She sipped it slowly as she sat on the porch. Night had fallen and the city lights were slowly turning on, one by one. It was a beautiful sight, and she once again mentally thanked her brother for having bought a house on a hill that overlooked the city.
She took out her phone and dialed a number. She needed to be sure that he was alright, after all she wanted nothing more than his happiness and she didn't want him to be unhappy because of her, she didn't want his marriage to fail because of her. She took a deep breath and pressed enter, and waited until he answered.
''Rossi'' he said in a gruff voice. ''Hey Super Agent'' she said quietly. She heard him take a breath and sit down, knocking something over. ''Kitten!'' he exclaimed, she heard the smile behind his voice. ''Heard things weren't going too well for you'' she said sadly. He didn't talk, it seemed as if he wasn't breathing either. ''Kitten, I want you to know that I'm sorry. I was a jerk and I should of seen it and - I don't know what to say. I miss you and I hope you can forgive me, please'' he said. Garcia heard the sadness, the tears in his voice.
As much as she wanted to remain clear headed, she started to cry silently. She wanted him to be happy, not feeling guilty. After all, it wasn't his fault she had fallen in love with him. She should of known better than to fall in love with an older man who was a legend at the FBI. ''I forgive you'' she said, and the burden started to fall from her shoulders - she started to feel free from him. She heard him sobbing, which tore at her heart. She never wanted her team to feel the way he was feeling, especially not David Rossi - he was not known for sobbing.
''Tell me what's going on, Super Agent. Why isn't it working with your leading lady?'' she asked quietly after a few minutes. ''She thinks I don't love her'' he said with a sigh, ''she believes I'm in love with you''. Garcia chuckled dryly, ''Oh, honey. You aren't in love with me. She's been seeing the guilt you've been feeling''. She heard him laugh, ''oh Kitten, how much I miss you'' he said. She smiled at that, ''listen up Romeo. You are a hot blooded Italian, which means Romance is in your veins. I want you to clear both your schedules, cook her the most romantic Italian dish you can think of. Pour the best non-alcoholic wine you can find. Make the night romantic with the best Italian music you have, dance with her and after all is done, feed her chocolate covered strawberries and make sweet love to her like you've never done before'' she said.
Rossi chuckled, ''You know what? That's a damn great idea. I think I'll do just that'' he said. Garcia smiled as she let the tears fall. Perhaps she wasn't over him as much as she thought she was, even if she felt herself lighter, more free. ''Why didn't I take the time to know you more?'' he asked sadly after a few minutes. ''Hey, don't go there Super Agent. She loves you and I know you love her. Besides, I'm too eccentric for you'' she answered. He seemed to accept her explanation with a deep sigh. ''Kitten, come back please. I screwed up, but I want to make it up to you, some way or another'' he said in an almost whisper.
She shook her head, ''Sorry my Romeo. Not yet. Soon though''. He sighed deeply, almost in frustration. 'The emotions this guy goes through in a second is worst than a woman's' she thought. ''When is soon? It's already been 6 months'' he said in a defeated tone. ''Go. Show that woman of yours how much you really love her. Give her as much passion as you give your job - show her that she is your soul mate'' she said before hanging up.
'Well, this isn't strong enough' she thought as she drank the rest of her screwdriver. She got up and made herself another one, this time pouring a little more vodka than she should and returned to her seat outside, watching the lights of cars and lamp posts flicker in the distance. 'I need a hobby' she thought, 'perhaps I could become a writer, or a painter'. She shook her head and smiled. 'I'll find one tomorrow' she thought as she let the night surround her completely.
