Chapter 6 An Intruder
A small sphere like device attaches itself to the hull of the WatchTower. Spidery like tendrils extend outward and start swiftly cutting around itself. As each layer is cut through, it begins to sink downward into the body of the satellite. It moves far quicker than its size would have an onlooker believe.
From behind itself, the device sprays a liquid that hardens and seals the hole it is creating. Even as quickly as it moves however, the intrusion is not missed upon the control boards of the central control room.
A klaxon alarm sounds
John Stewart flips a couple of switches and cameras on the exterior of the satellite pop on several screens in front of him. John speaks into a microphone "Hey Vic, we got an issue up here. It looks as if something has impacted on or maybe cut into the hull. The damage barely registered initially. The loss of atmosphere however was enough to trigger an environmental alarm. Can you review and give me your opinion?"
A momentary pause registers and then Victor Stone or Cyborg as he is commonly called by his teammates answers. "I'm connected to the computer core and can confirm that we suffered deliberate damage from some sort of a spherical device with spider like arms. Almost like a small robot. It sliced into the hull and then sealed the opening behind it."
John continues to manipulate the controls to get a better look and sensor reading himself when Cyborg's voice transmits over his right ear communicator. "Here, let me do that for you. I'm fully linked to all the systems now anyway." Several monitor screens obey Cyborg's wordless commands and flicker to the exact view that he sees directly through the security camera feed. Also, all the relevant data collected now scrolls on John's screens at his station. John lets out a single vulgar word that says it all.
Cyborg then states in a surprisingly calm voice considering his relatively young age "You better let the senior members know that we have an intruder. Red strobe lights begin to flash and an alarm sounds throughout the satellite.
Author's note: This chapter is far smaller than I intended. However my Muse has been far too lazy as of late and would only cooperate for a short period. I hope to get back to writing on a more regular basis. For those that have hung around - Thank you!
